Ozymandius Jones
Beatle Mania- Redux The Past: In the 1960s on Earth, a band became popular beyond belief. They had fans everywhere on Earth. Everywhere they went, screaming hoards would follow. Over time, it began to wear on the band?s nerves, until in 1966 they just stopped touring. For four years after that, the band continued to record, growing in popularity even as their style grew, evolved and changed. But time and differences grew to be too much, and in 1969 the band broke up, never to record together again. This is not their story alone. The Present The year is 2105; exactly one hundred and forty one years after ?That Band? made their first trip to America. Exactly 55 years after the creation of Temporal Shift equipment. Exactly 5 years after Earth?s first contact with aliens. Exactly 3 years after it was discovered that the aliens first set out to Earth after hearing Earth?s music. And exactly two months since the aliens helped to end ?The Five Year Plague?, a mysterious recurrence of the Bubonic Plague. The United States of Earth was deeply in debt to the aliens. The aliens insisted that Earth was deeply in debt to that band from the past. To most of the general populace, it didn?t make any sense. To one man, it did. That man was Julius Rathbone, a mad scientist in the maddest term of the word. The son of the man who?s genius brought about the Temporal Shift Department, his genius tended more of the ?resurrect long-dead diseases and unleash them on the public? genre, and his grasp on reality was shaky at best. And if the aliens could credit ?That Band?, well then?so could he. It is not his story alone. Cause: The past [strike]In the 1960s on Earth, a band became popular beyond belief. [/strike] In the 1960s on Earth, there was a band that showed the potential to become popular beyond all belief. They first hit the charts in 1963, becoming insanely popular and being followed by insane crowds of fans everywhere they went ? Until 1965, when they disappeared, never to be heard from again. Ever. The disappearance of the Beatles has remained a mystery for the last 141 years. Effect: The Future In the year 2105, something happened. Or, more specifically, something didn?t happen. The aliens never heard the music. They never set out to Earth. Therefore, they never arrived?and they were not there to heal the plague. Humanity, as a result, is dieing. All to satisfy the whim of one mad scientist, and all because that one band is missing from Earth?s past. Only problem is, no one knows it?s missing?except us. We are the members of the Temporal Continuance Department. We monitor the past to ensure our future ? that?s our motto. We live detached from time for most of the year, watching; waiting for something to change while we hope it doesn?t. Temporal Mechanics is a tricky science at best?and occasionally, while fixing things, while making them go back to the way they were, we have to let things get worse. But not this time. This time, this was not the way things were meant to be. We?re going to fix that? This is our story. Mostly. 0-0 L - As you may have figured, this is going to be a kinda strange RPG. The main characters are employees for the Temporal Continuance Department, or the TCD. The headquarters of the TCD are in another dimension, separate from the passing of time as we know it. From this headquarters, they can see all time in the last 5000 years or so. Since they themselves are separate from time, they can see when things have changed, and fix them. Nobody else knows when things have changed ? it?s a thankless job, but somebody has to do it. In this case, Dr. Rathbone has managed to take out the Beatles before they really hit the peak of their creative careers; and before they recorded the fateful album that changed the human world 137 years later. This is what I need from you: 1. Name: Keep it fairly normal. It can be a reference to a Beatles? song, for example, my character?s name is Prudence. 2. Age: These are government employees, so no younger then 19, please. 3. Appearance: Fairly normal, please. They?re trying to fit in with 1965 culture. Green hair is not common, neither are yellow eyes. 4.Bio: Can be short, we?re not really going deep into character at the very start. No super powers. 5. Personality: VERY important, as it shows why your character reacts in the way they do. 6.Position: Team Leader/techie/supplier/whatever. I will be playing two characters: Prudence Jones, team leader, and Dr. Rathbone, ze evil villain. There is a possibility later on (depending on how this goes) that the Beatles may become playable characters. When it?s a possibility, I will be giving them to the players who have demonstrated the best ability to keep them in character. Darksbane, however, has already reserved Ringo. I think that?s about it?lesse how this goes. My Signup: 1. Name: Prudence Jones 2. Age: 24 (Y.O.B: 2081) 3. Appearance: Blonde hair, blue eyes. Friendly looking, generally. Five foot, four inches tall. Dresses somewhat flamboyently, definatly "mod" ish. Likes to stand out, but still be modest. 4.Bio: Pru was an only child, and usually got what she wanted. Despite that, Pru's childhood wasn't that loving. Her father and mother stayed together for appearence sake only, and often spent their entire evenings shouting at each other over anything and everything. Thus, Pru spent as much of her time out of the house as possible, playing sports, joining after school clubs, anything to avoid going home. Because of all the extra studying she put in, Pru graduated both high school and the Academy with flying colors. Her best subject was Past Cultures, especially that of the 1900s. Graduating in 2101, Pru is already a veteran of three other missions: an observer mission to Victorian England, a mission to prevent the assassination of Abraham Lincoln in 1862 and a scientific research mission into the cause of the Tunguska Incident, all sucessfull, but boring in her opinion; she had very little to do with the missions; being relegated to supply officer, a position she dispises. She was given this mission after it was discovered she was an expert on 1960s culture, and the only other expert on that particular time was busy with the Cuban Missle Crisis timeline. 5. Personality: An only child, she's very used to getting things her way, and is also used to suceeding at things. She doesn't take failure very well. Easygoing unless stressed. When she is stressed, she tends not to show it - until she's too stressed. Then she has a tendency to snap and yell a lot. Here main character weakness is a tendecy to be overconfident about her own abilities. 6.Position: Normally stuck in the research department, Pru isn't usually the first person thought of when missions come up, but due to her close study of this particular decade and the fact that she has had some feild expirience left her open for the next assignment from this time. Nobody expected the mission to be this urgent. I will be posting Julius's profile after someone actually signs up...I hope this goes somewhere... 4815162342
1. Name: Eleanor Walrus Maxwell 2. Age: 19 (Y.O.B. 2086) 3. Appearance: 5'2" Brown eyes, brown hair with one blond streak through it at the front. Tattoo of a blue rose with a silver stem wrapped around her upper-arm so that the stem meets the rose again. Two silver hoop earrings. Usually wears jeans and t-shirts with weird and random sayings on them (i.e. Grew a mustache its RED RED RED!, Don't Panic, I Hear Voices, etc.). 4. Bio: Up until Eleanor was 16 she traveled with her archeaologist parents (Desmond and Pam) all over the world. She has one married older brother (Morgan) who has triplet sons: Jojo, Johnny and Robert. Once the boys hit 4 years old, they got to be a bit too much for just her brother and his wife (Madonna) to handle, so Eleanor was sent home to help them control the kids. It didn't go that well. The boys discovered that they could pretty much do anything to their Auntie without too much protest. Eleanor bore it all in fairly good spirits, only losing it when they dyed half the front of her hair platinum blonde. Her brother sympathized with her, and recommended her to his boss in the T.C.D. She went into the Academy not sure of what she wanted to do, and had horrible problems with half of her classes and breezing through the other half. She is very interested in languages and learned a lot of the languages of the places where she and her parents visited. She just recently graduated from the Academy and as such is new to her job, not having gone on a single mission to date. If things aren't busy she likes to draw and play the bass. She also really likes music. 5. Personality: Eleanor is very talkative and easygoing. She wears her emotions on her sleeve, but most of the time she's cheerful and hyper. She likes things to be in order and organizes stuff into sections. Despite her loving things to be organized, she tends to be rather forgetful and scatterbrained. She has to tie strings to her fingers to help her remember things. She doesn't like it when people get hurt, and is a peacemaker. This is both her weakness and her strength. 6. Position: Eleanor is a supplier or requisitioner. She helps make sure that teams get the equipment and money they need to complete their missions. Shy
I don't know a tremendous amount about the Beatles, but tell me if something about my sign-up needs to be changed. I'm intrigued by the weirdness of this concept. Name: Abigail ?Abby? Rhodes Age: 25 (D.O.B: 2081) Appearance: Average height with a slender frame, Abby is not one to draw attention to herself, and is easily lost in the crowd. While she has a certain beauty about her, her quiet demeanor and appearance make her easily forgettable. Living outside of time, tanning is not really an option, and as such she has pale white skin. Bio: Abigail Rhodes was born into a family of government agents. Her parents, whose real names have been classified for global security, were very rarely around Abby in her formative years. The closest thing she had to a parental figure was her tutor, ?Mr. Holiday,? who educated her and 450 other ?gifted? youth via satellite from an undisclosed location. Given the advances in technology, after the age of four Abby was able to live independently. Every so often her parents would stop by to visit their daughter in New London, but over time their visits became less frequent, and at the age of 12 they stopped visiting entirely. Abigail hasn?t seen, or heard from her parents since, and assumes they were killed in action. Taking advantage of the college programs offered to her by the government, Abby earned herself a degree in TechnoSociology from Waterford University. From there she took up work with the International Security Agency as a criminal detective, helping track down such dangerous slicers as Baron Zima and The Lance Twins. Based on her abilities, she was offered a position to work with T.C.D., using her knowledge of advanced computing and theoretical patterns against those who would attempt continual disturbance. For most missions Abby is not even required to enter the timeline, but upon orders from her commanding officer she has been sent to the 1960?s. This is Agent Rhodes? first assignment in the field. Personality: Rarely communicating with other people in her formative years, Abby is awkward and inexperienced in social situations. She often feels like she is the outsider, and chooses to treat herself like one no matter where she is. On a positive note, this perspective has given her a fresh view into the minds of criminals. In reality, she had spent more time interacting with criminals as a student than her peers, due to the intense nature of her studies. This more than anything else led to her suspicious nature. Abigail is quiet, polite and intelligent, but terribly unsure of herself. This is her biggest fault, and one she is completely oblivious to. Position: Agent Rhodes is an experienced criminal profiler, specializing in high-technology crimes. From the T.C.D. headqarters, her advanced empathic equipment (which is dangerous to those who are inexperienced in using it) can detect metaphysical disturbances in the timeline, or things that are out of place. Something as large as an assassination, or as small as an untied shoelace would appear to the devices? sensors. However, Dr. Rathbone has found a way around this device, and now the tools are largely useless. It is hoped that by traveling to the scene of the initial disturbance, Abby can discover whatever it is Dr. Rathbone did to her equipment, and reverse the effect.
Angelus_Necare
Name: Jude Hayes Age: 28 Appearance: Jude is a rather lanky and lazily postured man who would appear much taller were he to take the time to stand up straight. He's constantly plauged by dishevelled black hair and a five O' clock shadow that never seems to shave away. Although Jude may hold the apearance of a lifeless husk of a man, his brilliant green eyes sparkle with a youth that not even time could dull. The clothing of choice for Jude is a variety of dress shirts and slacks, worn rather carelessly although he prefers comfort over taste. Bio: While not one of the more conventional feild agents, Jude was chosen for travel to the sixties due to his years experience. Jude's been around the block a few times so to speak since he gratuated from the Academy. His training duration was unreasonably short as he flew upwards through the ranks with a steel determination that normaly went unmatched. Jude soon secured a position on the T.C.D. and continued to go on with his chosen career. Jude says little, if anything about his upbringing. In most cases he'll avoid the subject all together. Personality: Jude isn't what you'd call a social butterfly. What may seem antisocial to some is just his way of keeping to himself. Jude won't assert himself personaly into any situation, be it trivial or vital unless absolutely necesary. This isn't to say that he's shy, He's really quite the oposite. Jude has issues with being bruttaly honest at times and somehow lacks the social skills particular to tact. If he ever does say anything unpropper or malicious it's usually due to the fact that he knows no better and rarely has means to insult anyone. Jude is kind most times, but a bit awkward when it comes to showing deeper emotions. Position: Jude has been assigned a technical operators position for most of his missions, but what he longs for is a secret operatives position.
Ozymandius Jones
Ok, those are both really good. Shy: The only thing that needs fixed is the birthdate: the "present" time of the RP takes place in 2105, which means that if Abby is 25 she would've been born in 2080, not 2081. I know that's kinda nitpicking, but...I do really like the backstory you gave her. Gave me a few good ideas, too... The Underground for this is up now...I'm available there for any/all questions...and I'm glad the "weirdness" intrigues you...time travel concepts fascinate me to no end. Billy Shears
Ozy, use my John-con again and I'll... *shakes fist* Name: Bill "Bulldog" Henderson Age: 64 Apperance: Short astocky, gray hair, partially balding. He hardly conveys any other emotion besides frustration and anger. He usually wears a white lab coat with several pockets, brown slacks, and black dress shoes. Sort of a traditionalist, Bio: Adopted as a baby by a rich man, Bill has lived in the lap of luxury all his life. He was adopted by a man only known as Mr. Kite. He saw him on a regular basis, but never knew much about him nor talked to him. He was basically raised by Mr. Kite's wife, Julia. Since he lived lavishly, Bill attended the best schools in the region. He graduated Harvard at at age 15, at the top of his class as well. He majored in the subjects of nuclear science and historical philosophy. He married his wife, Michelle when he was 20 and they had one daughter, Anna. He loved Anna with all his heart. He was devistated when he learned he was forced to create the Temporal lab he works in now and reside in it forever. Anna was 17 at the time. She had a nervous breakdown, causing her to have a drug overdose and die in a coma. Bill's wife, Michelle, would die a week after her daughter due to heart and lung failure. Bill recieved a message while working on the lab, and decided his main goal was to turn back time and fix things the way they should be. He was to have one goal before dying: prevent the destruction of his family. When Prudence started working at the lab, he locked himself in his living chambers for a day, contemplating over how he should confront Prudence and tell he she looks exactly like his daughter. After that, they've both had a great friendship. Personality: Bill is a quiet, gruff man, usually taking his frustrations out on the younger workers. But he and Prudence have been good friends for a while now, and he is the only one "that is respectable enough for my attention". He got his nickname Bulldog from the way he acts around the lab. Position: Head of Research. He got this job by voulenteer. Even though he helped create the lab, he didn't want an extremly large position. Hope thats good. Skye
I don?t know much about the Beatles, either, but I think I?m going to have fun with this RPG. 1. Name: Penny Forsythe 2. Age: 25 (D.O.B.: 2080) 3. Appearance: Penny stands 5?5?, and is lean. She has a dark complexion, tan near light-mocha colored. She has a oval-shaped face, with gently sloping cheekbones and nose, and full lips. Her eyes are a honey colored brown, slanted, and framed by dark, thick lashes. Dark brown hair falls in gentle waves to her waist, loose, held back from her face by a head band. Penny favors casual clothes, like jeans and T-shirts, though she has many varieties of clothing in her closet. 4. Bio: Penny was born into a two-parent household, and has never had siblings. She was relatively spoiled, though at one point she did tell her parents she liked to work. That startled them, and they sent her to boarding school. Whenever Penny got a chance, she would go and work in the gardens, help cook, clean floors and vacuum. Doing the work gave her a sense of accomplishment. She was snubbed by those of her rank; after all, why do the work if you had someone else to do it? Penny went home on holidays to see her parents, and was pampered when she was home. She loved being around her two loving parents and the many animals that roamed the large property; dogs, cats, birds, and a huge tank full of fish lined a whole wall in the large living room. Penny would sit for hours watching the fish. She grew up quickly, and moved out early. She graduated 2100. Penny has just started the job, and is eager for work. 5. Personality: Penny is straight forward, and to the point. However, she is quite capable of being sly and tricky. She is hard to hold onto, like a fish. If she doesn?t want you to, you?ll never get a word out of her. She loves to work, physical labor, and loves talking with people. 6. Position: Penny is generally the one who goes out and does the dirty work. She?s the only one who will willingly go out and bring back what they need. She works as supplier/techie/ect. She?s an all-around worker. Hope this works for you!
Ezekiel
As a Music Student in Liverpool, I feel compelled to try out for this. Brilliant idea, I must add. Oh yes, I would just love to help out if you need someone to play John Lennon, heh. Name: Lucian Dimond Age: 28 Appearance: At 5'7'', Lucian isn't a man of great stature, and he's well aware of the fact making up for what he lacks in height in strength. He keeps fit and his body is toned, of course he'd never want to get to the stage of looking like 'Mr. Muscle'. He wears round glasses that teeter on the end of his almost perfect nose. His eyes are green and usually half closed, giving him a perperutally-bored expression. He has rather pale skin, but full lips. He is a man that could be described as 'pretty'. Lucian keeps his hair at shoulder length and has dyed it many different colours over the past year. Currently he's a redhead, though a dare from Eleanor means he's soon to be going pink. Lucian is seen in baggy bell-bottom jeans, tie-dyed shirts and lots of multi coloured bangles going up both of his forearms. He's a flower child through and through. Bio: Lucian was born in Liverpool, right in the centre of a large arts culture. His parents were both musicians, with his mother also enjoying painting on occasion. He was brought up around people who knew how to have fun; he even attended his first concert at the age of three. He has always enjoyed music and plays the bass guitar, though with his work in the TCD, he doesn't have time to play much any more. His parents decided that it would be good for their son to go to music school, so they put together what money they had to spare and paid for him to go to a college in Manchester. At first he wasn't eager, but soon Lucian discovered his talent for art and music and he quickly became involved with some very interesting people, some of which were in the music industry. He was offered a place in a band that was about to go on tour when their bass guitarist quit. Lucian was eager but declined the offer after seeing a position open in the TCD and applying for the job. He later got the position and started work a few weeks after, making sure to catch up on everything he missed. He's been working there for a year and has grown quite attached to the people he works with, treating them like family. People who don't know him are shocked when they see his appearance, but his superiors put up with him for the fact that he's brilliant at what he does. Personality: Lucian is a smiling man, even in tough situations. He has the ability to keep a calm head and make responsible decisions under extreme pressure. He scares easily but doesn't show it, most of the time he just keeps it inside. He's proud and sometimes cocky, though not in a bad sense. Even though some people will describe him as over-confident and even arrogant, it's the part of his personality that people love. Lucian is a people person, and loves to be with friends even if it is only at work. Position: Lucian is the man behind the mic. When a team is out on a mission he stays at the base collecting information and relaying it to the team through his mic. He spends most of his time in work sitting in front of a computer screen. He does help with research and has on the odd occasion been called out on a mission when the team needs someone with a sharp mind. Lucian doubles up as a tactician. I hope that's okay.
Grammar Panzer
Before I get reemed....*pokes Billy* ¬¬ Name: Michelle MaBelle Age: 23 (Born year: 2082) Appearance: Rather tall, almost six feet. Shoulder-length brown/ashy hair; brown eyes. Slender figure; often in a business-like appearance. Sometimes wears sunglasses. Wears a purple skirt, heels, a brown business jacket, constantly carries cell phones and models of the latest technology. Her face with holds every emotion, and one could say she is stoic. Bio: As a small child, Michelle did not have a family. Her mother, father, and brother were all killed in a drunken car accident. She was at a babysitter's house when this happened. Growing up in a foster home with a family named, the "Tridas", she grew depressed. Her full family was gone at such a young age. The Tridas family did everything they could to make everything better for her, in fact they seemed as loving as her original family. Michelle began growing attached to her family a few years later, when she attended school. She received the highest marks in every class, and continued to do so until high school. In 2099, The Tridas family began dying, one by one. In that year, their two children, Michelle's foster siblings, both got shot down in a shooting coming home from school. The mother was raped, then killed by a robber, and in result of defending his house, the father got sent to the hospital that night with serious injuries and a concussion. He did not make it until morning. Falling into a deeper slump of depression, of having lost two families, Michelle swore to never love again. This was her Senior year in high school and her grades started to suffer. She began drifting away from her friends and became bitter. Realizing the questionable future ahead of her, she began focusing everything- sadness, depression, hate, revenge-everything into her studies. She later graduated top in her class. Taking up a fancy in law studies, Michelle attended Law School, respectfully. She no longer showed her emotions and kept them bottled up. She never mentioned her past to anyone, and she quickly changed the subject if anyone asked. In cases, she developed a sinister being and showed no mercy to her opponents, but at the same time was clear-headed, calm and cool. She never lost one case. After Law School, Michelle has been working at TCD. She finds the whole organization very interesting, and loves every minute of it. Her co-workers have made her enjoy the missions, and advert her from thinking of the mindless way her family was killed. Her first and main reason for joining TCD was to make the past right, and get her beloved family back. Due to TCD, she has found and expressed positive feelings again, before the time when her family was killed. She has opened up a bit, finding more and more reasons to enjoy life every day, but still keeping a straight appearance about her. Personality: Michelle is very level-headed. She does seem to intimidate others with a serious attitude and a constant glaring look, but she actually does enjoy a good laugh. Sinister and merciless when the job calls for it, she seems to be the most effective worker, in opinions by some. But, no one can really tell the emotions being bottled up inside of her, ready to explode at the wrong time... Position: Her position is a Techie, but is much more like the head thinker and planner behind everything.
Muse
-giggles- Beatles!!! And, I'm back from my extended vacation, if anyone noticed my absence. And, Ozy has given me permission to sign up late. And, I am sort of a John Lennon...obsessor...so if you need someone to play John I'd be happy to do it. Name: Julia Stanley Age: 24 Appearance: Julia 'Jules' Stanley is tall and, as some would say (not herself)elegant. She has almost abnormally large brown eyes and long blonde hair. She is extremely...open, and wears bright "flower power" clothing and smiles alot. She is slim, wears small, rectangular glasses (as seen here in a picture of the Beatles...of course, this picture was never taken, but you get the idea...) She has a pretty face, for sure, but she doesn't really care about that. Biography: Julia was born to a wealthy, upper class family and never had too many problems. Her twin brother, Julian, however, was shot and confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life when he was sixteen, walking home from the grocery store. He got caught in the middle of a gang fight, and a stray bullet lodged itself into his spine. Bill and Martha, Julia and Julian's parents, take care of Julian to this day. At that same time, Julia began reading about history. Mostly, of course, the Swinging 60's. She was fascinated by the lack of self control everyone seemed to have, and she longed for that freedom. But, being, again, the child of a strict family and a brother to take care of, Julia was forbidden to go to Peace Rallies and anything of the sort. So, doing the most she could do, she began to dress in colorful clothing. All of this happened in Julia's second year of Senior High, and she was offically dubbed a freak ,but sympathy was shined upon her because of her brother's misfortune. She did well in school, finished college, and took care of her brother for a few years before applying for a job at TCD. She was hired because of her grades and her extensive knowledge of history. She is not very popular with the head people around TCD (because of her 'antics' around the place), and usually she is chosen only for supplier. But, because of her 60's obsession, she is being considered for the new mission. Personality: Julia is dangerously carefree and collected in all situations. She is good at making people laugh, and it isn't hard to make her giggle. When she is working, however, she is very serious and takes her job literally. She handles failure badly, and she is an annoying perfectionist. She says that if she isn't a genius, she's crazy, and she leaves that up to people to figure it out on their own. Position: She does whatever 'the man' tells her to do. She is mainly a supplier, or in some cases a techie. I hope that was ok...
