?Hi!? Jordan jumped as Maya sat down next to him, a big grin plastered on her face. ?Man, you are so much fun to scare!? She hugged him lightly, and patted the seat next to her. Kin-ha appeared and sat down, still quiet.

Maya was wearing a pair of red harem-cargo pants, and had the ends of the legs draw tightly at her knees. She also wore sandals, and a spaghetti strap shirt in the same red, with a black leather jacket. Oddly, the red matched her hair, and she had a huge grin on her face. For a moment, Jordan thought he saw a fire-red dragon on her shoulder before he blinked and it was gone.

Maya looked over at him. She laughed at the look on his face. ?You saw her, didn?t you?? Her grin got bigger, and she reached up to her shoulder. The small dragon gradually became visible to Kin-ha and Jordan, while curling around Maya?s arm. ?She?s Hyurr, a fire spirit.? She smiled widely. ?Now you see why I was so interested in spirits?/ I?ve got hoards of them following me all the time.?

OOC: I'm here! So sorry! Been packing and all that jazz. Big move coming up, so I'll be gone for several days sometime next week. Going back to Texas! W00t!
~~~
Cainan sat up blearily, having just woken up. As suspected, his mother had not gotten home until very late, leaving Cainan with wery little time to sleep. He stood up and got dressed into loose jean shorts and a yellow t-shirt. As he dressed, he thought about the previous day as he normally did. The first thing he remembered, of course, was Kin-ha. He smiled dreamily before remembering the strange mess with the library. The boy suddenly felt rather chilly and decided to get going.
He called to his mom on the way out, informing her that he was taking a walk. The weather was perfect, and Cainan strolled happilly along the suburban sidewalk. Before he knew it, he started feeling compelled to take certain paths. As if the road willed him to follow. He felt shaky, but kept going without a second thought.
He only realized where he was going when a horrid sinking feeling overtook him. Cainan looked up to see nothing but a baseball field, fans and playes half absent, a few strolling in casually. Still overwhelmed by a feeling of dread, he looked more closely. He suddenly noticed Kin-ha in the stands and... two people he had seen in the library.
He shook off his momentary terror and proceeded to the trio. "Um... hi. Kin-ha." The boy smiled weakly, his face asking if he could sit down. The other girl there seemed a little startled and looked as if she hid something quickly, though Cainan could see nothing. "Oh! Cainan... have a seat." Kin-ha quirked up awkwardly. She scooched over to allow him room in between herself and Maya.
Jordan looked over, his friendly face hiding his disappointment at being disturbed with two girls yet again, "Hey, I'm Jordan. Cainan was it?" Cainan nodded shyly as Maya spoke up, "Hi! My name's Maya. You a friend of Kin-ha?"
"Um... yeah." Cainan was at a loss for words, his usual self. Slowly, that feeling of terror creeped up in him again. Somehow he knew the source now: Maya. The feeling was so strong, he was positive it eminated from her.
As for Maya, she seemed to be considering if she should show the spirits following her now that someone new had arrived.
Well Cainan seemed to be acting kind of shy. Jordan could tell by the general stutter in his voice. "You here for the game buddy or did you get the message as well?" Jordan asked Cainan.
"Message? About what?" He replied.
"Well we sort of are meeting here to talk about a very special subject. This subject isone that is infamous with our school, though not too many believe the stories. The subject of spirits, the souls that leave our bodies after they die. Some of them stay here, or so I believe."
Jordan pulled out the book that he was reading and handed it over to Cainan. He didn't seem very sure what to do. "What's this?"
"Take a look inside. It has mostly to do with spirits. It even depicts something in there that supposedly happened only a decade ago in our school. Some Hunter character or something. I can't really remember for some reason." There was a small prick in the back of his mind. Jordan mistook it for an itch, but this one he couldn't scratch. He wasn't sure what it was comeing from, but something was bothering him. In fact now that he thought of it there was something that really bothered him. Those people, the ones who laughed at him, they never believed him. These people that he is currently with are just like him. They live around mostly people who do not believe in the spirits, but these people know the truth. It was comforting, but painfull to remember those nights that he spent crying because of everyone thinking he was crazy. He wasn't crazy at all. In fact he was pretty sure that same wind spirit that saved him is still around him somewhere. Whenever he thinks about that day there is a breeze that goes by.
A whistle blew and the ump called for the game to start. Jordan hadn't realized how much time had gone by.
Maya smiled, and the little spirit on her arm glowed warm. It?s long, sinuous tail reached out and wrapped around Cainan?s arm. The boy startled, and looked at it in disbelief. ?Apparently Hyurr likes you.? She smiled, and then her eyes caught on someone in the stands. She was breathless.
?Oh, wow? Jordan, Kin-ha, look!?
Maya discreetly pointed to a girl in the stands. She was up at the top, and her skin shone iridescent in the sunlight. Her dark red-orange hair was loose, falling to just past her knees in waves. ?Wow? isn?t she gorgeous?? The girl looked down at them, and smiled. Maya flushed with embarrassment at being caught staring, and looked down.
When she looked up, the girl was gone. Maya seemed confused, and also realized that the girls hair? it was the same red as her own. Maya looked around, and couldn?t find her. She sighed, and sat back to watch the game.
Kin-Ha watched the game and clapped her hands when thier team made a homerun, unlike Maya who jumped up and cheered like everyone else. Then something odd happened, a little girl ran across the field. But, it seemed liked no one even noticed her. Everyone except for Kin-Ha and her friends.
"Did you.." Maya started.
"Yes" everyone replied at once.
Whatever it was, the small girl dissipeared when Kin-Ha went to look again. It was odd, why was this little girl stalking her. She wanted answers, and she wanted them now.
"That wasn't a nice spirit like we have been seeing.." Kin-Ha said quietly.
"Oh yes it is! She looked harmless!" Maya ensured.
Kin-Ha shruged. She continued to watch the game nervously. Could the spirit be there to hurt her? Or could it be there to tell her a message? Kin-Ha held her head so much things were going ona nd she couldn't sort it out.
"You ok?" Cainan said looking kind of worried.
"Yeh...i mean yes..its just..."
"The spirit girl you just saw?" Cainan finished her sentence off.
Kin-Ha nodded and took asigh. She relaxed a little and watched the game.
"I won't let any spirits hurt you.." Cainan said softly. Kin-Ha nodded and said "Komah sum ni da.."
"Thank-you" she got up and went toward the soda machine and got a coke to cool off.
Cainan did his best to comfort Kin-ha, but in truth he was more afraid than she was. From the moment Maya's spirit friend appeared, he had barely been able to suppress the urge to huddle in a corner. His limited memory of the incident from fifth grade was still permanently ingrained in his mind, As far as he was concerned, anything that involved spirits was dangerous, and to be avoided. But what could he do?
The game seemed to be nearing it's end, and Cainan couldn't suppress his curiosity. As Jordan and Maya sat down, giving their feet a rest from cheering, the boy tapped her on the houlder nervously. Maya looked over, "Hm?"
Cainan swallowed before continuing, "Ah... uh, how long... did you, uh..." Maya raised an eyebrow questioningly. Hyurr appeared at her side again, "You mean how long have they been with me?" Cainan inched backwards from the little spirit, "Y-yes."
Maya grinned, "There's no need to be scared. Hyurr wouldn't hurt a soul!" It was then she noticed the odd eminence coming from him. "Hey, what's th-," Maya's sentence was cut off as Kin-ha returned, looking a little better. "What's going on?" she asked curiously, taking her seat next to Cainan.
Nyx woke up the next morning to the tune of "Living Inside the Shell", right at the part with Steve Conte going Wake up - I hear a voice, hear a voice callling out to me, I see inside, see the light now ever holding me. She groggily turned her eyes to the alarm clock beside her bed, and nearly had a heart attack.
"Kuso kuso kuso!" she swore, tearing the sheets away and scrambling into whatever happened to reach her hand's skin first. It turned out to be sleevelss button-up shirt, kahki colored, and baggy carpenter jeans. Nyx jammed her feet into sandels, ran through the hallway, romped down the stairs, and bolted to her garage, throwing her clothes into the open-door of the laundry machine.
On her bike, she pedaled mad, the rubber of the wheels whirring at the speed. Once the ballfields came into view, Nyx leapt off the bike, going from the seat to over the handlebars and front wheel. She cut the "tumbling-the-ground" part short and took off at breakneck speed, wincing slightly as she heard her bike crash into a lightpost.
The bleachers weren't as full as Nyx thought they would be, surprisingly. She looked at the billboard posted at one edge of the ballfield and heaved a sigh of relief - only the bottom of the third. She scanned the bleachers for any signs of her new friends and found them - but, of course, at the very top and the exact middle.
"What better way to greet 'em then by freaking them out?" Nyx muttered, grinning rather sadistically. She ran to the back of the beachers and began her climb, one hand over the other, her feet perched at strange angels at times, until she could see the tail of Maya's hair.
"Hyurr wouldn't hurt a soul!" Maya's cheerful voice said. There came footsteps - obviously heard, since they made the metal make a twangy noise - and then Maya's voice changed from cheerful to curiously. "What the - What's going on?"
Nyx didn't wait for whatever answer was to come from whomever Maya had addressed. She instead summoned up some more strength to her arms and pulled herself up, swung her legs over the ledge, and bumped down next to a wide-eyed Jordan.
"Yo," she said casually, looking at the baseball field.
Jordon was only a bit shocked when Nyx came over. He over exagerated a bit to be a little comical and to make Nyx feel as if she had gotten her job done. He was always like that was the girls, trying to please them. "Woah." He said. "You came out of nowhere there."
Nyx giggled a little. "Yeah I'm kinda weird like that."
"Just a little bit." Jordon, obviously flirting, said holding up his and and showing only a bit of space between his thumb and forefinger. "But seriously I'm glad to see that so many people made it. I was worried that I was going to be the only one."
"Hey I called you." Nyx replied. "You had to have known that at least I was coming.
Jordon sort of wished that she had been the only one, or Maya, and he would have with Kin-ha too but she seemed to be preoccupied with Cainan. Jordon would never get in the way of someone elses relationship, that's why he normally just flirted and never got serious. He was afraid the girls that he flirted with already had someone to really hang on too. Of coarse there was these pair of eyes that always told him that is was alright and he should at least try, but he didn't listen to it. No one listened to him so he won't listen to it. Anyways to make a long story short he is sort of afriad to ask girls out. So he flirts. "So how did you get the name Nyx? Did your parnets know that you were going to be strange or was that a coincidence?"
"I can't quite say," Nyx shurgged, grinning. "Nyx means night sky in Greek, which I think is pretty nifty. I love being outdoors, and I'm kinda nocturnal. My parents wanted to name me something different and kinda...majestic, I guess...and named me Nyx." She paused. "But once I got older - around ten - they started acting rather paranoid about me."
"Was it, like, graduale or...?"
"Yeah, it was fairly graduale. At first, it was small sutff, like resticting TV and internet times - mind you, I busted those about fifty times over - but then it shifted into my academic life. I couldn't do any sports. Everything I did had to somehow contribute to the school. So I can pretty much do only art and music stuff."
"That blows," Jordan replied, shifting his eyes towards the game and back.
"Uh-huh."
"You...not much of a conversationalist?"
"That's a big word, ya know," Nyx joked in a serious tone, and Jordan cocked an eyebrow.
"Ehh...?"
"Oh gawd, another Canadian," she muttered, then burst on a grin. "But answering your question earlier; yeah, I do talk and speak and stuff, unlike -" she shifted a glance at Kin-ha, then mentally whacked herself for being rude. "Yeah."
"...Yeah."
There was an uncomfortable silence, and the two went back to watching the game. Nyx began wondering when J.B. would be up, or when she would see him, or when...well, when his existence was actually acknowedlged.
Then suddenly, she blushed. She was siting next to a boy...and he was flirting with her. She wasn't naive - or innocent (since the two usually went together) - like Jordan probably thought she was. He was just doing it for kicks, nothing more.
Ah well.
OOC: I should really post more... :shifty:
==================================================
IC: It was the bottom of the third, and J.B.'s team was in the lead. The game was going great, but the turnout to see the game wasn't. This didn't surprise J.B. at all, the baseball team never got much support, due to the fact that they never lost a game. But that wasn't the reason he was so interested in the crowd today, the truth is, he was really looking for his parents. He left his parents a note the night before telling them to be there, but to his disappointment, they weren't there yet. "I hope they come soon, this is the last game of the season..."
As he looked out at the crowd, he saw Maya and the others he invited to the game yesterday, he didn't recognize a few of the others, but he was sure he would meet them.
"At least they came..." J.B. said with a sigh.
Then out of nowhere, a little girl ran across the field, "Hey kid! Get out of the way!!" J.B. screamed while all of his teammates looked at him like he was going crazy. Suddenly, she vanished.
"Ummm, you okay J.B.?" his teammate asked.
"Didn't you guys just see that little girl?!"
"Umm...no. Look, we know you're ready to get at the bat, just wait, you're up next."
"But...I...yeah, you're right, I'm just hyped...that's all." J.B. knew that he didn't just imagine that, but he thought that if he kept quiet, everyone wouldn't think he was crazy.
"Billings!! You're up!!" the coach barked.
"Right coach!" Right when he grabbed his bat, the symbol on his arm began to throb. "Ouch! Not now..."
The pitcher threw the ball, and as it sped toward J.B., he felt a power in his right arm that was incredible. He swung the bat so hard that it dented the bat, and sent the ball flying for what seemed liked miles.
"Woah! What the hell was that?!" J.B. said as he took off toward the bases.
"Way to go Billings!! That's what I'm talking about!!" the coached screamed while J.B. and two other players hit home plate. "I knew that you would go out in a bang, ha!!"
"Thanks....coach." A gasping J.B replied. "I don't know what the hell is wrong with me today. First I'm seeing pale little girls, now I'm hitting balls to Australlia!! Well, whatever it is has got to stop, I'm getting weirded out..."
It was a wonderful hit from the guy at bat, in fact it was amazing. He wasn't aiming for the fence but more like the water tower in the next town over. Jordon almost emediatly recognized who it was that hit the ball. It was the kid that Jordon had run into just the day before. There was something odd about what just happened. It wasn't until Jordon knew who it was that he saw this either. There was an aura coming from the ball and that same aura was coming from some place on his arm as well. Jordon couldn't be sure if anyone else could see that like the girl they saw earlier. It wasn't a big deal anyways.
"That kid's got a great swing." Jordon said to Nyx. "You enjoying the game?"
"Yeah." She replied with a bright smile.
Well Jordon wasn't really liking the game that much. Baseball was not his favorite sport and he was getting hungry. He stomach was grumbling for some nurishment. "You know I'm going to go get something to eat, does anyone want to come?"
Kin-Ha looked at Cainan who shrugged.
"I'll go eat if you want to.." Cainan told Kin-Ha.
"Yea...me hungry and drained, need a good meal" she smiled and looked at him. As all the children got up Cainan took Kin-Ha's hand. She blushed a little but accepted to hold hands with him.
They walked over to a restaurant and they sat down at sepereate tables. Kin-Ha and Cainan sat opposite each other. As they talked Kin-Ha looked out the window only to see the little girl dash across the landscape and dissapear.
"There she goes again..." Kin-Ha said in Korean.
"What?" Cainan asked not knowing Korean.
Kin-Ha shook her head as if were nothing at the same time the food came out.
The continued thier conversation eating and laughing. Kin-Ha would occasianly look at Cainan and when he looked up she would turn her head to look out the window. Then the little girl would hip across or do a kart-wheel or something exotic like roll on the floor.
Who was this girl she thought...is it her spirit she can control?
A chill ran down Jordon's spine as he sat down. He looked over his shoulder and past a pair of pale eyes towards the door. He felt like something had just stepped in, but there was nothing there. The presence he felt wasn't evil or anything like that. It just felt odd.
"You alright?" Maya asked as she joined him with a noshalant grin on her face. "You look a bit spooked. "It wasn't Hyurr was it?"
"No." He replied. "I just thought... nevermind. It was silly anyways. Order something, I'll pay."
"You'll pay, eh?" Nyx popped in, grinning broadly. Jordan slammed his head into the table and said something, but it was muffled out.
"Don't take advantage of him...that much," Maya said, clicking her tongue disapprovingly at the freshman. Of course, it was more sarcastic than anything.
"But he's offereing food! FOOD!" Nyx shrieked, and several people stared at her. Maya just karate chopped the kid in the head and walked to the counter.
"Orrrrrroooo..." Nyx muttered, the floor spinning below her. Then, a pair of feet ran by her vision. Bare feet.
"Hey, what the-" She shot up, causing blood to rush to her head and get her dizzy again. But that definetly wasn't a normal kid - the legs were transparent.
"The shaman..." Nyx now thought, sitting still and letting her blood flow evenly again. "Is somebody summoning spirits? That girl - how'd she get to be the way she is? She must've died...but how?" A fire or a car accident was the most likely answer, obviously. Obviously.
"I didn't know wha'cha wanted, so I had to guess," Maya's voice said suddenly. Nyx popped up from the ground and quickly snatched the cheeseburger.
"Mine," she hissed before shoving it into her mouth.
Maya began laughing. ?Nyx, chill! No ones gonna eat your burger!?
She sat down next to Jordan, across from Nyx, and handed him a platter of cheese fries. She had her own, with Coke, and sat, content to munch, for about ten minutes.
Then Maya promptly choked on a fry, and Jordan had to beat her on the back. She leaned down on the table, and hissed to the two, ?Hyurr! She?s gone! And-? She paused, and then cursed. ?So are my fire spirits!? A chill was beginning to settle in the air around her ? which had not happened since the spirits decided to help her.
?Geez! Does someone have a sweater I can borrow??
Jordan handed her his, looking somewhere between amusement and bemusement.
Cainan hadn't felt this happy in a long time. He was amazed at how good he felt just sitting there talking with Kin-ha. Sometimes he couldn't help but look at her, sometimes noticing her slight blush. This is so strange, he thought. He had never felt so happy just being around someone.
Without warning, Cainan stood stock still, chills running up his nerves. Luckily, Kin-ha was looking out hte window and didn't notice. He felt like he coudln't breath, as if something had squeezed around his entire body and tightened it's grip. His eyes darted about the large room frantically, instinctively. The whole sensation felt familiar, and it was not a good kind of familiar.
He spotted the others sitting at another table, and for a moment, his eyes met with an equally frantic Maya. She stared at him. The stare you give when you see something unexpected and strange. It was then that Cainan felt the 'aura' he was giving off. It felt not so much like an extension of himself, but of something reaching out from inside. It felt dark, cold, and above all, malevolent.
Maya finally looked away, as Jordan and Nyx were starting to notice. It was obvious something was running amok, be it spirit or something more believable. Kin-ha looked back at Cainan from the window, and then gasped in surprise. Cainan looked at her, "W-... what?"
She blinked a few times, "No-nothing."
They felt it too. Jordan could see it in their eyes and expersions. Every one of them were feeling it in their own way. Jordan had grown a bit cold like there was some ice sitting on the length of his spine. It was very uncomfortable for him too, but he ignored it the best that he could. He was trying to pay as much attention as he could to the two women that he was sitting with. Nyx was greedly nawing on her burger and Maya, well Maya was looking odd. She was feeling it too. Like some sort of test it was feeling each of the people involved. That just made Jordan wonder what is going on with the fellow on the baseball feild then? If he is feeling this same thing then what could happen to him while playing the sport. He was strong, that baseball that flew into orbit proved that, but could he resist this aura? That pair of advise giving eyes told him no.
