New smilies - suggestion

I don't use smilies all that liberally, but I happen to be rather enamored of the ones found on this page. I think they'd make a nice addition to OB's emoticon stable, and could probably replace some of the currently existing smilies (for example, I think Mr. Granholm's "sweatdrop" smiley is a bit more visually appealing than the one featured here).

And after all, no anime-related forum is complete without a decent neko/catgirl smiley.

Okay, I've now added the anime smileys to our database.

Enjoy. :catgirl:

Actually, while I'm here I should ask a question.

Would you guys support a totally new and more limited pool of higher quality smileys for OB7.5...or would you simply support me adding to what we currently have? Right now we have six pages of different smileys, which is quite a large variety. But many of them don't get used.

So I'm just wondering what you guys think about that. I personally am happy to just keep adding and adding, so that eventually we have a huge variety of smileys to suit everyone's taste. But a complete overhaul might not be out of the question.

I like those two. ^^

But anyway, I say it's time for a trim. Some of the smilies are rather redundant. And who's going to use genius :genius: or flasher :flasher:? Although, I really like a few, like the twitch :twitch: one. Also, you know how there are some smilies that make it look like they are 3-D or have some small amount of depth? I like those kinds, because they seem more "hip."

But yeah, optimizing by keeping only the best of smilies, along with a new array of smilies, I would like.

Hey, when I use this many smilies, do I look like a n00b? :animesmil

Yeah, I just noticed these new smilies when I was posting in the Arena Underground. Good stuff... yeah, these ones are WAY better than the others. These have motion, and better animation to explain how you're feeling. But I'll always love :p that one.

:animesigh :animeangr :animestun

Those three are my new favorites. Yay! We all look like n00bs again, using this many smilies. Heh.

I think they look pretty bizarre, but whatever lol. As long as a lot of other people like 'em, it doesn't really matter too much to me. I don't use that many smilies, anyway.

As for James' question, I'd support just adding more smilies. I'm sure that even a ton of smilies don't take up a great amount of space, and you won't run the risk of someone bitching and moaning if you just so happen to axe their favorite smiley. Imagine having to deal with that?

Oh no, more smiley emoticons for n00bs to enjoy themselves! Kidding. I really like the new additions :catgirl: <--that one is so cute.

I love Group Sounds set. A complete overhaul? I like that. I am not particularly fond of the original smilies we have. I think it's time for an upgrade. OB is getting upgraded, so should the smilies.

:animenose: <--that one's good too.

Yay, thanks for adding them! :catgirl:

I love these smilies, haha. Anyway, I agree with Azure in that some of the other smilies--while fun--just aren't likely to get used very often. The two he posted are pretty good examples of that.

If it's at all feasible, I think it'd be pretty cool to see Baron's idea put into action (making it so that each member could look at the full list and select their own set of "default" smilies to show up on the shortcut bar). After all, the ones I personally dislike or would never use might be near & dear to another member's heart.
