Wow, I never really thought I'd be back. This place brings back a lot of memories. I joined OB... man... what has it been 4 years? Somewhere around 4 years ago. I signed on AIM for the first time in a LONG time; I kinda went anti-internet social, because of various video games (it was getting crazy trying to play and chat at the same time). I saw Adam on and sent him an IM, he passed me a link and here I am.
It's prob. been almost a year since I was here last. It'll be fun catching up on all the new things.

Well, before Greg (wow, I still remember Syk3's real name....) locks this thread up I would like to ask you guys about my newest Avatar. I put it together in a few moments b/c I'm tired and want to sleep. I have a few other images of Mugen I want to try out; so depending on how this one goes, I'll make a banner and jump right back on the OB train.

It's great to be back, I hope maybe this time it will be for quite some time.

Comments are appreciated; well requested. I know Syk3 will have something to say.

P.S. Hey Greg, how long has it been since we signed up? Just curious.

I hope everything works out for you, and welcome back to otakuboards. Lord knows I haven't been here all that long, but I've been on the verge of quitting. I think the 'livejournal' thing really helps keep me in touch with my .. 'reality' side. n_n; Best of wishes to you!

Hey Andrew (ha, I remember too!), it's certainly been a while since I've seen you roaming the old OB streets. I joined back in June of '01, so I guess we're just about coming up on four years, eh? You joined a little before me, though, I remember, so you might have already passed that mark. haha

It's amazing, but lately, among offline things, perhaps, and spending time on here just cleaning up spam, I don't usually have the chance to specifically comment on artwork. But for an old friend, how could I refuse?

The avatar is cool; simple and to the point. Using the periods is a nice way of spacing out the letters while adding in a bit of color as well, and it's good to see that those colors are represented from the picture itself. The placement of the name and characters is good as well, but what does it mean? The only thing that I find particularly worth noting to improve is by making the background a little more interesting.

As for the content of the avatar, we need to talk about Samurai Champloo one of these days. :p

Woah--! Where the crap did you get the inspiration to come back, all of a sudden? Geez man, you nearly gave me a heart attack. *swt*

Anyway, I love the avatar. Something about the simplicity of it is just so appealing. The text on the plain background balances out the business created by the colour of Mugen's skin and clothing, while giving the definite feel of an "off-set subject".

Technically, it's very impressive, as well; no roughness or anything like that.

Good work, soldier.

Four years, huh? Man, it seems like only a while back I was chatting it up on AIM and in the Anime Lounge (was a different name; can't remember though...) I don't remember being there long before you, so maybe about May. Ahhh.... It feels nice.

Thanks for the comment. The characters read: "Mugen" (obviously; his name). Mugen was always my favorite even since the first time I heard about it; which coincidentally was about a year ago this month. He has a Spike feel about him. Reckless, Acts on his own feelings, and somewhat selfish personality. If I remember correctly CB and Samurai Champloo were directed by the same man, weren't they not?

Wait a second. Have you seen Samurai Champloo?!? Can there be English dubbs made that fast? Well I suppose it first Aired in May last year.... It actually just ended. Nice ending, too. But that's a topic for another section.

I was thinking about adding some decor to the background, but with the limited space of any avatar, I thought being the most simple would work the best. Well, since you said something about it I'll see what I can throw together. I'm also working on a banner with the same image.
