They've now arrested a young lad-- a friend of Weise's-- in connection with the shooting in Red Lake.

I saw a little blurb about it online. Apparently, there was a larger plot, and this lad was in on it.

I didn't catch any of the details, however, other than that the boy was the son of the tribal leader or something. Sad, so very sad.

It's a terrible thing to have happened, although I think the anger towards the shooter is well placed.

Despite how troubled a person can be - there are solutions to the problems that they face, it's simply their decision to take a different course of action. There are many individuals firmly sat on rock bottom who would not carry out such an act; even if they can't see a way out for themselves.

I don't believe that anyone has stated that the anger toward the shooter was ill-placed.

Of course there is anger directed at him and the inexpressibly horrible thing that he has done... but there is also compassion for a child who thought that this was the only way to express his despair.

Someone should have been paying attention to what was going on within him long before this had even entered his mind.

I don't see any problem with being angry with someone and grieving for them at the same time.

I am watching the rage and the agony unfold all around me ...both are heartbreaking...

Exactly! It drives me crazy, to the point where it really makes me angry, when people make a situation into a "good guy, bad guy" kind of thing. I am not saying that no one should be angry at the shooter; lives were lost and changed forever. Even if you werent personally there, there is a ripple effect. You knew somone who knew somone, or you could have a soft spot of sorts for this type of situation.

But what you cant do is act holier than thou. Every one has the capacity to kill somone. Everyone has the capacity to be pushed towards the edge.

Saying that, no matter the situation, you still make your own choices. There are situations where if you are a certain way, you need to stop and think, to really see all the choices you have. Obviously, some people dont do that.

I'm not saying what the shooter did was right, but I can identify, understand what he felt, as to what would push him to that place; I can sympathize.
