The darkness swept over Reoan's nearly naked body as she stood, posed beautifully, on the roof top. A man by the name of Jacob had come to her the night Hell had spit her back out, freed her of her physical torement as he repaired her bones and cuts. She laid patiently, watching him with wide and intent eyes. He was a guardian, a healer, and he was glorious when he did what he was best at.

"The world has grown so much since you last blessed us," a soft, masculine voice swept over her like the gentle breeze did.

Reoan lowered her head as she listened to him walk up beside her. He didn't bother to look at her either as he stared across the city. The lights and screaming machines echoed through the night air.

"Have I truly been gone that long?" She brought her head back up to look over the earth before her.

"Yes. You're weaponary," the man paused for a moment, glancing over at her and the objects strapped to her body. "Is extremely out-dated and easily over powered by gunpowder and bullets. Your talent for taming the wildest of creatures is nearly pointless in this life for they use machines to travel by now, and phones to communicate with. No longer horses or birds."

Reoan turned sharply towards the man, looking at him and his modern grab. He was stunning in his human way and his eyes showed his age. How much things had changed and how much she needed his help to regain her power again.

Reoan grabbed her dagger from her thigh and shoved it forward. The blade dug into his tender throat, but the man let out no cry of pain as Reoan grabbed firmly onto his arm. She held both arm and dagger tightly as she growled into his ear.

"Why didn't you stop me, I could have killed you."

"Then let death come onto me because I will never strike you."

"Even if I threatened everything you loved?"

Jacob turned his head towards her, staring into her dark eyes. Hidden tears raced under the surface and he longed to hold her. The dagger bit into his flesh, but he still made no motion to remove it.

"I would try to stop you, but never would I harm you." Jacob replied softly.

Reoan searched Jacob's pain stricken face, his blue eyes staring straight into her's. She pulled back sharply and turned back towards the city, the dagger dangling losely at her side. Jacob didn't move, only watched her as she drew the blade up to herself.

"Its been an awfully long time since I tasted blood," Reoan flashed a smile towards Jacob over her shoulder as she ran her tongue across the blade. She pulled her blood covered tongue back into her mouth and smiled with satisfaction. "Its time to gather the others and start my revenge."

Camilla?s garden surrounds her in the spare bedroom of hr apartment. A couple of finches, each in there own separate cages, chirped and sung their song. Camilla lounged lazy in her white whicker chair. Her legs dangled one side of the arm of the chair and her head rested on the other. Dress in a black velvet tank top with a pair of tight black jeans. Her feet wore a pair of white cotton socks with blue slip on slippers. Blue hair spilled onto the floor that was pulled up into a ponytail. On a table next to her feet was a book that was flipped open and rested on the page she was on. Camilla closed her eyes letting the sounds of the birds drift her off to sleep.

She lay there in a bed of wild flowers, wind blowing a few strands of her loose hair. Her hands played with the pedal of the daisy. A small pedal floated down and lay on her stomach. ?Ugh..? She was torn from her peaceful dream. Her roommate stood in the front of her chair tapping her foot with a cigarette in her mouth.

?Thought I would find you here. Hurry up and get ready. We are going to be late again because of you.? Camilla closed her eyes but her roommate poured water on her head. ?Going to get up now or am I going to have to get out the heavy stuff.?

?Alright Jane. What someone has to do to sleep around here.? A vine whipped out and took the cigarette out of Jane?s mouth. ?They don?t like smoke.?

Jane still had that shocked look on her face and Camilla grinned at that. ?You know I still can?t get use to that.? Jane had finally gained back her voice.

?Than you should quit smoking it simple.? Camilla had gotten a towel and dried off her hair some.

?By the way how is?? Jane thought for a moment. ?Frank or was it James or Nick??

?It was Matt. I broke up with him weeks ago girl. Where have you been in a hole or something.? Camilla pushed on her boots and tied the laces.

?Oh sorry. Like I am suppose to remember guy you date. Please. I always wonder how you could remember who is who. ? She paused for a second. ?You know, Camilla, you go through more guys faster than you do shoes.? Jane grinned; the two loved it when they bantered each other. It was fun and they where able to pass the time.

Camilla let out a fake laugh. ?You know I almost forgot to laugh it was so funny. You should be a comedian.? She rolled her eyes. ?At least I don?t date m ore than one guy at a time like you. Lets see you are balancing Henry, John and Sam all at once. Must take talent.?

?That?s right. I am the best at what I do.? They both laughed. Camilla threw on her jean jacket and they headed out the door.

Kadar woke up with a start. It felt as if sharp knives were stabbing him there as he fell out of his bed. "Guh HUUURGH!!" Coughing to get rid of the pain, he stumbled to his bedroom wall. His vision began to blur and his hart raced with what felt like a kind of fear. With a blinding force, he rammed his fist into the wall, leaving a small crater into it. Suddenly, it stopped.

'What is this?' he thought to himself. 'It feels as if HELL ITSELF has been opened up! Good thing it was only for a short while.'

He placed his hand on the indentation he had created. "Damn! This apartment sure is flimsy." He walked back into his room and began gathering his clothes. First his pants and shirt. Then, while putting his jacket on, he grabbed for his hat and put that on, covering his platinum colored hair. 'Looks like another late night walk for me.'

===================

It was quiet outside, even more than what a small town like this should have been. The occasional pedestrian and car passed by, but other than that, all he could see was the starry night and hear his footsteps on the pavement. He turned onto a dirt road toward the cemetary as if the problem could have derived from that direction. "It's strange. The feeling I woke up with was different. And yet I'm being, not pulled, but led into this direction. What could possibly be going on?"

While making his way toward the entrance, he rose his hand. A form of energy was emanating from it as the mass began to surround himself. 'I better take procautions just in case. I don't like coincidences.' The energy formed around him like a barrier and stretched as he made way through the entrance. It always does this when entering an area of high spirituality.

The air seemed normal. The graves stood cold and silent, which was fitting for how the sky looked. Using his alternate vision, Kadar could see the ghosts of those who would not leave their Earthy bonds, both freindly and unfreindly alike. Kadar stopped and turned toward a gravemark in the shape of a cross. On it had the words 'Jamie Harkenson: Age Fourteen'. Suddenly, a spirit rose from the grave. It was in the form of a young girl who appeared to be smiling.

Kadar smiled back. "Hello, Jamie." 'Hi! K,' she spoke back back in a playful voice that can be heard by only those with special hearing. 'What did you bring me?!' Kadar reached into his pocket and pulled out what seemed to be a triangle shaped rock.

"I found it in the lake. It's a naturally shaped one!"

'LIAR! But I'll take it anyway!'

Kadar layed the rock on the edge of the gravestone. "I have a question, Jamie. I feel that something is nearby. It lured me here."

'Lured yoooouu..?' the spirit cooed.

"Yeeeahhh...? Did you see anything like that stop by?"

'Hmmm. No. But you could ask Grandpa J. He's been saying something about ROOOAANNN or something like that."

"John, huh? Thanks." Kadar began to walk down the path once more. "WAIT!" Jamie shouted. The ghost flew around Kadar to block him. She looked up at him with big worried eyes. "Is this thing you're looking for..dangerous?" Kadar nealed to her level to meet her gaze. He smiled and said,"Don't you worry about it. It probably is just a detached energy source floating around somewhere. I'm just tracking it to find out if it belongs to someone." The spirit suddenly became less worried and quickly flew back to her spot. 'That's good,' she shouted back. "You claim that energy for me!" She went back into the Earth.

Kadar went back toward John's grave site. 'I can't let her worry about it. If my suspiscions are correct. Then it could put her in danger,' he thought to himself.

"Hey, John. John?"

'What is it?' the spirit said as he floated down to his grave. It seemed that he was floating around the cemetary again. "I heard from Jamie that you might know something about a roan," Kadar answered as he put his hands into his pockets. 'That girl still callin' me GRANDPA?' the spirit spatted with an annoyed looking face. "HAHAHA! Yeah! She looks up to you after all!" Kadar pointed out.

Kadar made a serious look toward Jake. "Well?"

'She's right. I 'ave been rantin' to everyone about somethin' or 'nother.'

"WHAT?! No wonder she's worried!"

'It's not like it, I tells ya. If I wouldn't of done it, would ya be talkin' to me now?'

Kadar thought for a moment. "I guess you're right. You sure are tricky..FOR A GRANDPA!" The ghost looked really annoyed. 'I AINT HER GRANDPA!!!'

'Back ta the point. Something is defn'tly here. Actually..SOMEONE,' the ghost explained as he crossed his arms and nodded. 'They said when 'E came to meet 'er when 'e shows up.'

"How did she know I would be here?"

'Don't know. She said the next guy ta show. An' here ya are. I never liked coincidences. DO YOU?!'

Kadar's look turned into a serious one. "Where?"

'Over there.' The ghost pointed toward the back entrance of the cemetary, where only desert laid for miles.

"Thanks." Kadar turned toward the exit. As he approached, something was pulling at him once again. His barrier was still up and fully functional. He left the graveyard and walked toward the expanse of desert. After about thirty yards he stopped.

"I know that you're there. No sence in hiding." Kadar turned around to face a person. But this wasn't any ordinary person. "GAAAAH!" Kadar's second sight was being blinded by the mere pressence of the person. Kadar's barrier was torn to mere shreds.

YOU'RE BARRIER IS STRONG! BUT IT MAKES YOU VISIBLE FOR ONE HUNDRED MILES BY ONES WITH THE SIGHT!

"It is supposed to do that, so that I could lead an unsuspecting enemy to me."

Kadar could see it clearly now. The wings. Its posture. Everything about it was magnificent. "I can see you aren't no mere reincarnation. You must have been sent directly from Heaven."

"It can't be! You are an actual angel!"

YES I AM! I HAVE BEEN SENT BY GOD TO YOU!

"Isn't that always the case. What does he want from me? What goal do I have the potential to realize?"

THE FALLEN ANGEL KNOWN AS REOAN HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK FROM HELL! YOU MUST FIND AND DEFEAT REOAN!

"May I ask how or why this fallen angel has been brought out of Hell?"

THAT IS UNIMPORTANT! WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS THAT IN ORDER TO DEFEAT REOAN YOU MUST FIND THE OTHERS THAT HAVE BEEN CHOSEN TO FIGHT ALONG SIDE OF YOU! The angel raised its arm and pointed with one finger and a colored flame per number. AQUARIUS, THE WATER BEARER! ARIES, THE RAM! GEMINI, THE TWINS! VIRGO, THE VIRGIN! PISCES, THE FISH! CAPRICORN, THE GOAT! AND FINALY: CANCER, THE CRAB! FIND THEM AND TOGETHER YOU WILL SUCCEED!

"Wait a minute! The prophesy of the ZODIAC?! Then who is the..." Kadar thought for a second then remembered his birthday. "Oh..Then that makes me Saggitarius, the Archer."

YES! YOU HAVE LEARNED WELL OF THE WORLD AROUND YOU AND ARE PERFECT FOR THE PART OF SAGGITARIUS, THE ARCHER! The final flame lit a color purple. Then, as the angel lowered its arm, the eight flames went up into a burst before dieing off.

"So where are the others? You're at least going to tell me where they are, right?"

THE FIRST IS A PLACE THAT YOU CALL COASTA RICA! ONLY YOU WILL KNOW WHERE THE NEXT WILL BE WHEN YOU HAVE FOUND THE ZODIAC MEMBER!

"What does he or she look like?"

THE PHYSICAL BODY WILL NOT TELL YOU, BUT YOU WILL KNOW WHEN YOU MEET!

"Then I guess that's it. I'll be seeing you around then." Kadar began walking back to the cemetary.

STOP! YOU CANNOT REENTER A HOLY AREA! THEY KNOW WHERE YOU ARE NOW! YOU WILL ONLY ENDANGER THE RESTLESS ONES!

Kadar stopped dead in his tracks and could only think of one word in his mind. 'Jamie!' He turned toward the heavenly body. "Do they know exactly where!?"

EVEN AS WE SPEAK!

Kadar made a mad dash for the other direction directly toward the town. 'I guess its time for another sudden dissappearance,' he thought to himself as he headed back home to get ready. The angel had already left.

Madge sat on her bed. Her room was small and cluttered. The walls were lined with with shelves filled with little nick nacks cds and a feww magazines. Her walls origanally were a soft cream when they were first painted twenty years ago. But now she could see clearly the effect aging had had on them. There was a small window she had put ducktape over so that no light could escape into her room. She remembered her new mothers wellfare theory "dukt tape fixes every thing." Her rug was a ragged shag rug authentic from the 70s her new mother Julia had gotten from a thrift store for 83 cents.
Her cieling was hand painted like the night sky. Cheep plastic glow in the dark stick-on stars wre scattered across it and where the rusted cieling light sat a whte moon was painted around it. She had dark orange curtains over the dukt tape on the window. Her bed was an old fasion medal rimmed one. She had three pillows on it two un pillow cased dollar store ones and one black one with a skull and cross bones on it.She had pink unicorn sheets a velvet imitation blanket an old nitted one and a dark purple conforter drapped over the bed benieth her. She had tacked up posters, magazine clippings, and photos all about the room. She had a book shelf squeezed between the heed board of her bed and the wall. It was flooded with books of all types. She had a brown dresser perched on the other side of the room hith a mirror propped up on top of it. The mirror had stickers and photos sscatered acoss it. THer was a large old fasion crate on the fourth wall And a hamper by the door.
She took a deep breath of the stail morning air. She could smell the smoke of a cigerette that had been forgotten somewere in an ash tray. She could feel the illinois heat on her skin. She heard the muffled voices of her family waking up so decided it best that she got out of bed.

*Day 10*

The road grows closer to him..his path of death leads me to his presence..whole families..the men, women, children..slaughtered by he who must not be named and his minions.

I grow tired of this persuit..a coward I follow..preying upon the mere puppets of humanity.

In the scortching sun of the afternoon..walking along the dirt path which he followed. A full view of farmland and forest surrounded him as he wrote in his journal..wearing nothing but black; the heat phased him none..

With every new family ravaged..their souls tell the tale..a monster..evil, and yet beautiful..there seems to be no more goodness in the world...even from an angel...

For days..Rubedo simply walked. His destination..unknown..only the binding power within him which drew him on..on towards his mission..his purpose. Day turned to night..night to day; a forever, neverending cycle. The sun nor moon ever changed..nor the landscapes and views he looked upon in his walk. They all had become dull to him, one just the same as the next. The meaning of beauty had left him..phantomed and bored.

He looked so young upon his face..you wouldn't notice from looking at the guy at how old he was inside. A sense of mystery always seem to blanket over him with whomever he came into contact with..his red hair covering over one of his eyes; a golden glare looking back.

Finally, upon the 13th day...Rubedo was led to the city of Athens. The rush of the ocean breeze blowing through his hair as he walked across the beach; the view of the city to his right. As he entered the city..again, mid-afternoon, with not a single cloud in the sky..he drew closer...

"So it is here you hid yourself..." Rubedo held a low, and stealthed presense within the city..he was afterall a hunted man. So poorly misunderstood by the world around him..he musn't be captured..his existance must stay a secret to the public. His virtues, accomplishments and duties hidden and unrecognized. A blessing sent to these humans...looked at as a common murderer..not knowing the beasts which he protected them from...of all sorts.

***

That night...it was all over the news. Famous Athenian politician decapicated in his luxious pentehouse hotel room...it was wonderful, Rubedo thought to himself.

People die of disease and poverty everyday...but you kill one politician...and everyone cries for such a horrible tragedy...pathetic.

Rubedo's golden eyes burned with intensity as he stared up at the full moon hovering up above him. What a numbness that surged through part of his being towards humanity...as he looked down upon them; sitting upon the edge of a tall rooftop. And yet...he felt a sense of pitty for them; how he envied their ways.

He felt so bored...the same thing...day after day; killing what was required...healing what had been broken, to bring peace through love and/or death...and yet...he lived for it.

Interesting how this angel begged for his life though...speaking of another guardian...Reoan. as Rubedo pondered at the thought. That a new kind of tension was arising...and the few remaining Guardians would come into play; to make a choice...as well as something known as the "Zodiacs."

He quickly shruged of thinking about it..he needed to sleep...he would speak to his superiors later about it. There on the rooftop, his two scimitars close at hand...he slept underneathe the stars with the sounds of the city beneathe.

The sound of a lone violin serinaded the courtyard of an Italian restuarant. Soft sunlight filtered through the overhanging sheets of loosely-threaded material. Raven sat at one of the farmost left tables, scanning the menu. She was dressed in a simple but elegant black dress that fell to above her knees. The waiter stood there, waiting to write down her choice.

" I'll have the Caesar salad with grilled chicken breast..." Raven said politely as she handed the waiter the menu. He walked off to give the chef her order. Her eyes wandered over to three large Italian men that had just sat down at a table in the centre of the courtyard. All had various coloured pinstipe suits on, looking exactly like the Mafia from the old movies.

" Will they ever learn?" Raven sighed very softly to herself.

The Greek city of Corinth was infamous for the trade of illegal substances, to the police anyway.

The three Italian men shook hands with one another and sat down. They ordered a bottle of '76 Chature Saveunure Blanc.

They must be well off if they're ordering that...

One of the gentlemen dug his hand into his breast pocket and pulled out a bag of some sort. Raven looked on more intensely. This was it....pity she wasn't going to enjoy her meal. He handed over the bag. That was the calling card.

Raven stood up from her seat elegantly and swayed over to them.
" Bravo....the drop has been made..." she whispered into a hidden speaker-piece on the inside of the top of her dress. Her hair masterfully covered the earpiece hidden in her left ear.
" Delta....no heroics...."
She smiled.

Walking over to the gentlemen, she swiftly pulled her gun from inside her thigh and aimed it at the gentlemen at the table.
" Freeze!! This is the AIS! Hands where I can see them!" she shouted at them.

Unbeknowst to everyone in the courtyard, it had been outposted by four other officers of the AIS (Athenian Investigation Squad) and aimed their weapons at the three gentlemen.

All three stood. One boldly put on a smirk and stepped towards Raven.
" Stay where you are dirt-bag!" Raven said maliciously.
The man grinned. " You may have a weapon my dear, but there is three against one here."
" I'd like to see you try," Raven provoked, predicting what they were going to try.

Two seconds, and they jumped towards her. Raven roundhoused one, sending him to the ground. While she performed the kick, she unsheathed one of her Viper blades hidden in her dress. Whirling herself upright, she held the blade under one of the men's necks and the gun to the forehead of the other, stopping them in their tracks.

" I told you I'd like to see you try," Raven said over the approaching noise of police sirens.

******************

15 minutes later, the three Italians were being herded into the back of a paddywagon. Raven sat at her table, eating her salad and watching her colleages take the smugglers away.

A darkly skinned man suddenly sat down at her table. Raven swallowed the food that was in her mouth.
" We should come here more often Chief. The food is really good."
The Chief looked rather unamused. " Raven. I specifically remember telling you that there was to be no heroics."
Raven started at him, looking innocently blank. " That wasn't heroic. That was just doing my job."

The Chief sighed and sat back in the chair. " No matter what I say to you, it won't get through, will it?"
" Not unless you give me a payrise."
He chuckled. " That won't happen for a while. Your last payrise was only a week ago."
Raven's mouth dropped open. " Oh yeah. A few more cents was really a payrise."
" It's what the AIS could afford for the moment. Unless we start getting in more big-wigs, we won't get more funding."
Raven sat back in her seat. " I hate politics...."
The Chief chuckled and leant forward. " And you're smack dab in the middle of them." With that, he got up and left.

Another man came over to Raven. He had short black hair in an undercut style. His piercing green eyes made Raven have goosebumps everytime he looked at her. They were....unworldly.

" Lecture again?" he asked as he sat down in the seat the Chief had just left empty.
" 'No heroics' he says. That wasn't heroic, was it Nathan?"
Nathan sniggered. " It was, considering you had orders not to do it."
Raven sighed. " What am I supposed to do with this job if I get stuck behind a desk all day?"
Nathan leant close. " Wear that dress. I'm wondering what other weapons of mass destruction you have hidden in that thing."
Raven laughed. " None that you're going to see anytime soon."

Azrael reached out, taking another soul by the hand, than turning upwards to guide them to the Hall of Judgement. Another day as the Angel of Death. Well, not the only Angel of Death, but the head of group of angels that preformed the same duties. It's not like he could be everywhere in the world at the same time. He dropped the soul off in the Hall of Judgement with a coforting smile and a whispered "Good luck" before turning to head back to Earth.

Before he could move, though, he felt a small breeze carress his neck. A messenger angel had arrived. He turned, bowing.

"Rumsiel. Nice to see you again. How can I help you?"

"Hello Azrael. I have some important news. You are wanted by the Holies of Holies."

The Lord wants to see me? he thought as he winged his way towards God's sanctum. I wander what for... He landed spryly on his feet, sweeping his robe around him and steping forward to kneel infron of God.

"You wanted to see me, Lord?" He was filled with an amazing sense of completeness and happiness. He was in the prescense of God!

"YES, MY SON. THE FALLEN ANGEL REOAN HAS ESCAPED FROM THE PIT. YOU ARE TO ASSIST THE ZODIAC AND OTHERS IN DEFEATING HER."

"Yes my Lord. But what of my other duties?"

"THEY WILL BE TAKEN CARE OF. DO NOT WORRY"

"Yes, Lord. I shall go."

Azrael bowed, than turned and launched himself in the air. Time to go to Earth.

"Grigori...servant of Dominic...judge of human morality...what you have asked of me has been done...nothing more...nothing less." proclaimed Rubedo as he leaned up against a brick wall in a dark ally. To his right...he could see the people of the city walking past him, living out their daily lives with a certain state of unrest among them...no doubt the assassination the day before.

Standing across from Rubedo hiding in the shadows, a massive figure could be seen before him standing at least 8 feet tall.

"Yes..your work was well done..taking Lor's life was indeed the Lords will. But now it is a public matter..I've already told you about the shift that is ensuing. Now he and others will be alert." its voice boomed with authority...demanding respect; but to no avail as Rubedo's vibe remained the same as always..firm and unmoving.

"As yes..this Reoan..Lor spoke of her for a brief moment before his end." Rubedo coming to a realization in his voice.

There was a moment of silence between the two beings. Rubedo could sense the Grigori reflecting upon the name that was spoken.

"This is going to stir up a lot within heaven Rubedo..Lucifer has become a coward..but with the emergance of Reoan..he and many others are becoming bolder."

"And what of these Zodiac?"

"How do you know about that?" responded the Grigori quickly...

"Lor spoke briefly of them...he mentioned they would bring balance, and stand against Reoan..why are you..one of Dominic concerned with such matters...wouldn't that be in Michael's duties...not mere outcasts judging mortals."

The Grigori quickly was upon Rubedo and lunged a hand around his neck and lifted him into the air...pressing him against the wall.

"Watch your tongue Guardian..remember your place..this concerns all of heaven..and we will do whatever is necessary to stop this rising power which seems to hold Reoan as the key."

Rubedo's face and composure did not change..merely staring back at the black eyes that looked back at him..."and we Guardians are merely tools for you to command."

"What else did he tell you Rubedo!" its grip tightening..."you are far more arrogant and bold..."

A grin spread across Rubedo's face..letting the Grigori have his fun of superiority..."that these Zodiacs...and the few remaining powerful Guardians will have the power of choice.." Rubedo's golden eyes glared at the darkness glaring back at him in an act of defiance and strength...something within him growing..a true self coming out..."that we will change the course of your very existance..for we are the balance..."

"Release him!" cried out a powerful voice which seemed to echo through the entire ally..both the Grigori and Rubedo looked over to see Albedo..Rubedo's long forgotten mentor (Appearance )

The Grigori obediantly settled Rubedo back to his feet and backed away as Albedo approached. He was after all...a true angel..

"His duties have been fullfilled Grigori..the rest Dominic wishes for you to resolve and filter out...now be gone...your services are not needed here anymore."

Without saying a word...the behemoth bowed to the angel and dissapeared in an instant.

"And as for you" Albedo had a harsh look upon his face...which suddenly melted into a gentle expression...smiling at his old apprentice. "how have you been?"

The two quickly embraced one another in a hug and walked out into the street. Rubedo quickly pulled out a hat and sunglasses from his trench coat and put them on...having to hide his face so that he wasn't recognized by the authorities.

"Why do they always seem to hold me back master.....always pushing me underneathe their boot." questioned Rubedo as they walked.

"Cause it's been done for centuries my friend.."

"Is that the only reason?" Rubedo persued...

I'm sorry my friend...I can't tell you why...I hate to lie...but it must be done.. "yes...one of the reasons why Reoan resists us now is because of mal-treatment...however I'm sure more lurkers deeper then simply that."

"So what am I to do now master...?"

"Rubedo...I'm worried about you. With how you just treated the Grigori...and how much death you've brought in the recent months; I'm afraid for your well-being."

"It's not my fault master...I feel restless..you ask..and it is done...whatever come across my path is done withouth hesitation. Despite it...I'm never satisfied..incomplete. So I feel that I must do more..."

Albedo thought long and hard about this...he had taught Rubedo everything he needed to know on how to be a Guardian..the perfect warrior...uninhibated by foolish emotions and possessions in battle. But he never taught him how to truly live...

The human side is pushing...his....

"What do you wish of me master?" Rubedo asked; interrupting Albedo's thinking.

"Rubedo...I wish for you to do nothing...continue to do what you've always done..to walk, explore...involve yourself..but no more hunting for the moment. If you are to play a part in the events to come...I want you to be patient."

"But..." but Rubedo was interrupted immidiately.

"That is my will my friend...do not question it..please..." he stopped walking and put a hand on Rubedo's shoulder..."listen to my words...you need a break." God...please let my decision be the right one...

"As you wish master" as Rubedo bowed in respect...and with that, Albedo nodded and walked away from him...fading into the distance.

Inside...Rubedo felt confused...and yet distasted at the thought...but, as always; he swallowed his pride and obeyed. Walking in the opposite direction..he sighed and embraced the warmth of the sun blazing down upon him, trying to feel something.

What the hell is a break anyway...what am I supposed to do now...?

And so...he began walking again...wandering the city aimlessly; waiting to be noticed once again..or to come upon one in need.

Dear Journal,
I feel held back...they are not telling me something..how they take me for granted..my mal-treatment..my blessings..my curse. I feel so disconnected..a part of nothing..am I nothing..is that my purpose. I don't know what to do...now that I can't fight..am I only to heal now..and for what. What do I gain..in anything anymore? Whatever..who cares anymore anyway..least the beast is dead now.

I feel so misunderstood..underestimated..I hate them all...and yet..I feel such a love for them all..blast it all. The mind and soul should never have been created...rarely are they in unison.

OCC: Sorry so long...but I felt I needed to open up on Rubedo's persona and background at little since he's so complex...especially for being a guardian...and the role that he might play.

Blaring horns, flashing lights, wailing sirens and deep throbbing music littered the streets of the city that never sleeps. Good old New York, where the chaos never stops.

Around two or three in the morning an auto accident errupt on the corner of 23rd and broadway east, involving a taxicab and a brand new mercedes. It seemed that no one was hurt, but the owner of the Mercedes was slightly imbued and was now being carted off to the nearest station. The bastard could then sleep off the alchohol and think about what he had done.

"Bloody humans." A deep english voice muttered upon the accident, "They never die the way I want them too."

Lucifer pouted moodily, perched comfortably about twenty stories above the scene of the accident. He had been watching and waiting for something, anything, exciting to happen. But it seemed to him that New York wasn't the cesspool of crime and death that it once had been, thus giving him little option to stay put as long as he had. He sighed standing, turning to access the service elevator so he could return to the streets unnoticed.

It wasn't proper to expose oneself so blatantly in the human world, even if it was late at night. He grinned smuggly at how easy it was to catch few unsuspecting angels as they flew about this world, oblivious to the attention they drew to themselves. At least it made his job easier. Lucifer had been assigned a rather peculiar job in his years as a nearly free Angel. He had been instructed to capture and sometimes eliminate rogue Angels and Grigori. More often than not, he was instructed to capture Angels that escaped Heaven, rather than deal punishment on the spot. If the rogue angel had then been cast out of Heaven, he was instructed to keep a close eye on the fallen, and make sure that none of them had gotten out of line. Of course then they would unfortunately be under his jurisdiction...

Lucifer stepped out onto the quiet streets, neatly plucking the pleats of his blazer in place and checking the cuffs of his shirt. He looked terribly sharp wherever he went, and prefered only to wear the best of fashions when he decided to wander about the human world.

He was nearly five blocks before anyone had the gall to bother him. It was a random group of Grigori who obviously didn't have a clue where they should have rather been. There were three altogether, dressed in human streetwear. Although they could pull off the apperance from a distance their great size and bulk make them look a little strange.

"Hey!" One of them called to the others excitedly, he trailed Lucifer's right side, "This guy smells like Hell!"

"So what's up Hell-dwellin' scumbag!" Another jeered at him, comming up to his left side. The third and largest stood in Lucifer's path, preventing him from walking any furthur.

"Yo Hell-spawn, this is angel territory!" he spoke, crossing his massive arms in front of him. Lucifer looked at the ground, biding his time.

"Did you hear him asshole?" the one on his right shouted.

"Just go back to where you came from before we put ya there..." The one on the left snickered, grabbing the fallen angel's forearm.

"Angel scum" Lucifer spat, wrenching his arm away, "Get lost."

"Or what? You-" The large grigori in front didn't have time to finish as Lucifer put a hand through his chest. The being landed on the ground with a dull 'thud' as the other two stepped back surprised.

"I'll say this again, Get lost." Lucifer spoke, baring a feral grin. The one on his right took a mighty leap backwards to the other side of the street, and dissapeared without a trace. The other stood frozen to the spot, fearfull of the being that stood before him.

"Y-You, you're the morningstar" He stuttered, backing into a brick wall, "The one mighty cherubim, the- the-"

"The fallen." Lucifer finished for him, advancing on the young grigori. While not acting so cornered anymore, the young one decided to lash out verbaly.

"You can't get away with this Demon! God will stop you!" He shouted bravely. Lucifer gave out a deep menacing cackle.

"Oh really!?" He thrust his hand forward, into the young grigori face, dealing him a rather quick death, "Where is your god now?"

He stepped away from the two corpses and pondered chasing the third down when he smelled blood on the wind, along with a scent that he had not caught in a good few years.

"Reoan...?" He thought, spreading black wings and donning a disspleased look, "Who let you out of Hell?"

It was a mere three minutes before Kadar made it through his apartment door. Without even considering to close it, he gathered his bag and a few other belongings. 'I hate to leave without notice. I don't even have time to make a call.' He grabbed for his special suit and a couple of other relics that might come in handy. As he reached for his wallet and credit cards, he paused. 'Maybe it isn't a good idea that I should bring these. THEY might have ties to organizations. THEY could track my every move. I guess I could use it just for the trip to Coasta Rica. Any more and the risk would be too high.'

He reached for his keys and headed for the door. But when he reached it, a figure stood in its place. "You left the door ajar. I thought that I might drop in," the figure spoke. It sounded like a man's voice, but there was something different about it. It sounded almost evil, which fitted perfect for the brute's size. Other than that, the man had an aura. It was blacker than the dark room itself.

Kadar hesitated for a moment. "This must be the farewell party!" Kadar said as sweat trickled down his face. "HUUUR HUUUR HUUUR! As a matter of fact it is. Your farewell to HELL!" the beast announed as he pulled off his disguise. With no doubt it was a grigori.

The monster lunged for Kadar. Kadar tried to dodge, but the grigori was too fast and he threw Kadar into the farthest wall. Kadar rose off the ground as the beast made for another lunge. But Kadar made quick work of the space between them. He made a lunge too and rolled between his opponent's legs. The monster was caught off gaurd as Kadar jumped, turned, and kicked making a solid blow to the head.

"Don't try doing the same thing twice! WHAT!?" The grigori stood there unfased by the attack. "I'm not waiting to find out what's next!" Kadar made for the window and crashed through it. Kadar plummeted three stories to the ground and rolled out of the fall. The monster's rowr could be heard echoing throughout the streets.

"YOU WILL NOT ESCAPE ALIVE!" The beast stood at the window and rose his hands. A veil of fire appeared and morphed into a sphere of inferno. "Oh, God!" Kadar cried in panic. The ball hurled itself toward Kadar. He made cover behind a car as the ball hit it and blew up. The vehicle melted into a pile of magma.

Kadar could see his motorcycle three spots down and ran for it. More balls of fire were thrown and they created massive destruction wherever they landed. People were pouring out of the apartments to find out what the commotion was. "NO! EVERYONE! GET BACK INSIDE!" It was too late. The grigori attacked everything and anything in the area. Blood curtling screams could be heard as flesh melted into the pavement.

Kadar couldn't stand for it anymore. "THAT..IS..IT!!!" Kadar summoned his own ball of fire and hurled it at the grigori with all his might. The flame screamed with intense heat and speed as it hit its target. The grigori was singed, but was still alive. It leaped out of the window and soared directly at Kadar with extreme hatred. Kadar took one step back and raised a shield of air that was concentrated toward the attack. The beast bounced off and deflected into a nearby car which exploded on impact. He rose from the debris, but seemed unharmed.

'I can't defeat him. He seems to be indestructable. All I can do is run.' Kadar threw his barrier of air at the grigori, which constricted it, and Kadar hopped onto his motorcycle. He started the engine and sped down the street. Another intense rowr from the grigori echoed throughout the city.

As Kadar looked back, he could see an immense explosion engulfing the apartment complex. Everything in the area melted into nothing, but magma and rock.

Azrael slwoyl winged over New York. It seemed a good a place as any to start, especially since Lucifer was said to be hanging about there. Perhaps the Morning Star would have information that could hepl the Angel of Death turned investigator. He did an idle barrel roll, giving himself a few moments to enjoy the pleasure of flying.

He dropped out of the night sky as he felt the presence of a certain someone. Someone he hadn't talked to in millenias. His feet touched ground, and his wings folded behind him, out of sight of mortals eyes unless they knew him for what he was. He bent down, and examined the corpses of the grigori, than stod and looked toward the shape that stood in the alley, wings spread.

"It's been a while, Lucifer."

As they got to the bus station they say side-by-side whispering like school children to each other. The bus was not as packed at usual, this was a relief to Camilla. She hated it when the bus was pack, it would mean that she would either have to stand or be stuck next to a fat smelly person. That is always how her luck turned out.

?Hey do we have time to stop and eat. I am starving.? Camilla laid her head on Jane?s shoulder and looked up at her.

Pulling up her sleeve of her navy leather jacket she checked the time. ?Yeah we should. I know a place right next to where we are working today??

?That?s right. You never told me what we are doing today? She gave Jane a suspicious look and Jane gave a sly grin back to her.

?You will see. You will see.? With that she turned her attention to the scenery rolling by.

Camilla began to doze off, but Jane elbowed her in the side. She gave a grunt in protest. ?Don?t do that you will bruise me. I am delicate.?

?Delicate my ass. Anyways we are almost there.? The stood up and made their way to the front of the bus. Camilla looks back over her shoulder to make sure she did not forget anything behind her.

As they got off the bus Camilla wished the driver a good day. On the corner she could see a couple of stores, most where small business. There was a flower shop, a small corner store, what looked like a craft store, but she could have been mistaken, a small little café, she figured that where they where going to go and eat. There was nothing there that she could tell where they would do their photo shot. She shrugged it off and they headed to the café. She was right about they were going to eat inside.

When they got inside the décor was of a late Italian style. The Hostess came over and asked if was the two of them. They nodded. ?Smoking or non-smoking?? The hostess smiled.

?Smoking, non-smoking? The two of them said together.

Camilla glared at her. ?I don?t want my lungs to be killed. If you want yours to be than that?s your problem not mine.? Jane gave up for she knew that this was a losing battle anyways.

They where seated by the window and they looked out watching the people go by. Camilla order ravioli and Jane order bow ties with meat sauce. The two of them talked quietly so they would not disturb anyone else.

After they finished eating Camilla paid for the check and they headed back outside. ?Explain to me again why I picked up the check.?
?Because you are the bestest fried in the whole wide world.? Camilla rolled her eyes.

?Fine but next time you get it.?

?Deal.? Jane gave her a tight hug. ?Anyways we need to get to work now. Come on the way.? They head down the street with Jane in the lead.

The setting sun casted dancing shadows across the lightly colored hotel room. A bed lay torn apart on the opposite side of the window, a small night stand sitting next to it. The stand was decorated with a small Russian lamp and an ashtray. A small table stood off to the right, while an entertainment system was across from the table.

A sharp knock echoed across the room, but no one was there to open the door. The intruder opened the door, finding that it was unlocked, and walked in. Other than the bed being a mess, the small room seemed to be kept rather tidy. A light smell of cigarittes and sweet perfume filled his nose.

"What are you looking for?" A think, masculine voice rose behind the intruder.

"You," the stranger answered.

The hotel occupant clenched his fist. If only his master hadn't told him no more killing, he would be rid of this intruder in no time.

"What do you want?" The man walked into the apartment and slammed the door behind him. He was obviously not intimadated by this stranger.

"I came on behalf of the one I must not name," the stranger replied lightly. This man was large, but not nearly as threatening as his commander would be if he were to fail.

The occupant turned to face the stranger, a glare in his eyes. "Tell me who sent you," he said with a straight foward face and slight aggervation hinted in his voice.

"I am afraid--" the intruder started.

"I don't want to hear lame excuse." The occupant growled.

The intruder nodded lightly with a slight smirk. "Reoan sent me after hearing about your...mishap with the politican."

The expression on his face brought a smugged smile to the intruder's face. "My name is Jacob, a humble Guardian like yourself."

"And you've allied yourself with the fallen?" The occupant walked towards the small table and placed his weaponary onto it.

"I healed the fallen after she was sent from Hell." Jacob watched the massive man walk about the hotel room as if he wasn't even there.

"Sent from Hell?" The occupant turned to face Jacob again.

"Yes, Rubedo, sent from Hell on God's orders."

"I thought--"

"That's what Heaven wanted every one to believe. As a former Guardian, Reoan cannot stay in Hell forever. Its far too dangerous; for if Lucifer or his son wanted to calm this world for their own, a Guardian would be far too powerful an ally. So God sent her there to repeant for her sins." Jacob turned towards the window and stared across the city, the sunset turning the sky various shades of orange and purple.

"What had she done to send her to Hell?" Rubedo watched the fellow Guardian for a moment.

"Took human life for revenge." Jacob turned towards Rubedo. "You don't have to live the way they, upstairs, want you to. You can be free and do what you want, what completes you. When I heard of Reoan and her return, I knew that this is where I could do the greatest good. Don't let them control what moves you make, Rubedo, it doesn't get you into Heaven, just another spot back here on Earth. If you're going to come back time and time again, might as well enjoy it." Jacob looked towards the floor for a moment before bringing his head back up to look at the other Guardian. "Reoan sent me to find out what you were like. She wishes nothing from you, but if you ever wished to meet her," Jacob approached him and extended to him a piece of paper. "She will meet with you there, at that time."

Rubedo unfolded the paper and looked it over.

Central Park 4:30 A.M.

"I must go." Jacob nodded and started towards the door. "Reoan killed humans and angels alike for the sheer pleasure of it." Jacob added just before exiting.

************************

"Looks like Azrael is looking for you, Lucifer." Reoan smiled broadly as the fallen angel came into view, the sun casting gentle shadows among the trees.

The fallen angel smiled upon seeing Reoan's face. "Well if it isn't my favorite Guardian. What brings you out into Central Park in such modern clothing?" the angel replied as he approached her.

"Out for a walk, trying to find what keeps you so interest in this world with all its change." Reoan chuckled as she probbed herself against a tree.

He sat alone in the restaurant, eating a quick meal before he headed home. He brushed his brown hair from his clear blue eyes for the fifth time in the last minute. Suddenly, he looked up, hearing the door open and someone call to him.

'Dude, Ben, we missed you at band practice.' the newcomer said.

He sat up in his seat, shaking the hair out of his eyes again before he spoke.

'Yeah, sorry about that, Jake.'

Jake didn't look too pleased with a simple apology.

'You know we have a gig in three weeks,' he said, 'We can't afford you skipping out on us, this close.'

Ben shrugged, 'Yeah, but I had something I had to do.'

'Right, what was it that was so damn important?' Jake asked.

'I heard about something I had to check out.' Ben said, simply.

'You've got to be kidding me, more of your 'five dollar hitman' bullshit?'

'No, not that,' Ben chuckled, 'Something else, I can't talk about it here, though.'

Jake just stood there. This was the third time Ben had skipped out on practice for this kind of thing. He'd have been kicked out by now, but there was no way they'd find someone with as good a voice who could play, as well.

'Fine,' he said, conceding defeat, 'Just get your shit together, we have to get, at least, some practice in before the show.'

With that, Jake left. A few minutes later, Ben stood from his table and walked out the door. As he crossed the street, everything went dark.

'What the..?' he asked, looking around, trying to see out of the blackness.

'This one is too dangerous.' he heard an eerie voice say.

'Yes, he must be destroyed, he may interfere.' he heard another.

'What the hell am I going to interfere with, now?' he asked, sarcastically.

'He speaks. We must destroy him before he can interfere.'

Then, in the darkness, two figures appeared. One was tall, and almost impossibly thin, like a skeleton with a skin merely stretched over it. The other one was short and stocky. They both carried scythes in their hands.

'We will destroy you, now.' they said, in unison.

Ben looked around for a way out, but there was only darkness, all around him.

'I guess I got no choice then, huh?' he said, 'You know, you guys kinda caught me here, I don't have my sword on me.'

'We did not plan to let you fight back.' they replied, launching themselves at him.

'Hehe, morons.' Ben said, throwing his coat away from his legs, revealing two large handguns.

He fell backwards, letting one of the scythes pass over him. In the same motion, he grabbed the other right below the blade and, swinging under, kicked the leg out from under the creature wielding it. He came up, his hands resting near his guns as the creature righted itself. Now, there was one on either side of him, their scythes at the ready.

'So, boys,' Ben said, 'What exactly am I supposed to be interfering with? Anything to do with the rumors I've been hearing, lately?'

'We will tell you nothing.' they said, lunging at him again.

'Now now, boys, that ain't nice.' he said, launching himself into a backflip as the first scythe passed over him, the other, under him. This time, however, they didn't stop, he dodged each of their scythes as they came, until he felt one of the blades bite into his arm.

'We will destroy you.' they said.

'Right.' he replied, kicking the shaft of the weapon that was still in his arm. As it ripped itself out, the other came in. Ben pulled one of the pistols, spinning it across the blade and deflecting the cursed thing away. He spun behind the creature, the barrel of the gun pressing against the back of it's skull.

'We will destroy...' the thing was cut off by the report of the gun and it crumbled to dust.

'I've heard it.' Ben said, bringing the gun to bear on the other creature as he drew his other one.

'You will not interfere.' the creature said, raising it's scythe.

'Persistant bastards, aren't you?' Ben asked, rheotorically, cocking both guns.

'You are the one who is not of the Order,' it said, 'You will fight for no one, nothing but your own ideals?'

Ben raised his eyebrow, then smiled at the creature.

'Jackpot.' he said, firing both pistols.

As the creature crumbled, the darkness around Ben dissapated, leaving him standing there in the middle of the road.

HONK!!

Ben, jumped out of the way as a car sped by, nearly hitting him. After a moment, he holstered both guns and began the walk home. He had questions, more now than before. He knew some people he could ask, so he'd start there. Mostly he just wondered...

'What the hell is going on?'

Objects in the mirror are closer than they appear, his side mirror reminded him.
The grigori was still after Kadar. Spewing fireballs as if on a mission to melt the asphalt, the odious beast opened its maw wider than usual..

...and out came the grandmamma of all fireballs.

Shit.

And then everything about him was bathed in blinding light.
Something lifted him off his seat and set him on a level surface. So much for his motorcycle; he heard the fiery wreck shrieked to a stop and hit a nearby fire hydrant. When he finally opened his eyes, he saw a woman stand between him and the grigori.

The beast?s decapitated body lay writhing at the middle of the street, gleaming revoltingly against the street fires. The woman walked around it and pierced it one more time with her sword. Its flesh sizzled around the blade and soon after, it dissolved into thin air and left nothing to remind the earth of its existence.

"Damn these grigoris."
"Who are you?"
The woman sighed. She turned around and sized up the man she had just saved. With a flick of her hand, she produced a cigarette and lit it with fire from the burning wreckage.

"This chapter's deus ex machina. The name?s Tabris." She puffed a couple of smoke rings and held out a gloved hand. "Now get up."

~o~o~o~o~o~

The fat lady who served coffee was leaning towards the radio, listening to the latest reports of a fire eight blocks away. Aside from her, only a couple who sat face-to-face in a poorly-lit corner kept the diner open. The man?s gaze was fixed on his companion, who was occupied with blowing smoke rings to her mug.

"You mean you?re an angel?"
"Not exactly what you were expecting, hmm?"
The woman had neither pristine white wings nor a shining halo. Instead of flowing white robes, she wore black leather. The pants, the halter top, the boots, everything was black leather. If anything, she looked like a club kid with serious thrill issues or worse, hell-spawn.

Tabris sipped from her mug. "Yeah, my boss really likes you. Sent me to make sure your ass won't get nicked ."

?Ass?? For an angel, this one surely was... unconventional.
"That?s why I don?t do children. Oops! Sorry, love. Can?t help but listen to the noise from your brain."

...at least she could still read his mind.
"So you?re The Archer, huh? Doesn?t inspire much confidence..."

...and was pretty rude.
"I prefer the word ?honest?. Erhm, right. Straight to the point. You sure you still want to go through with this mission?"

"Why are you asking me that? It?s not like I have a choice."
"Keh, humans." Another lit cigarette materialized in her hand. This time, she offered it to Kadar. He shook his head so she puffed on it instead. She rested her head on a hand and stared at him with an amused look in her eyes. "You know why out of the multitude of warrior angels, the mighty Zeruel including, God chose an arbitrator to be your keeper?"
"From the way you act, I?d say you?re being punished."

"Survey says... not." Her eyes narrowed as she assessed him for a second time. "You know, God didn?t really want to place this burden on you humans. You were given the gift of Free Will, and it just wouldn?t be right if He forced you to a course of action. A few of the faithful realize that. Although it may prove disastrous, He sent me to lay down choices in front of you."

"So, what?ll it be, love?"

Mariah sat at a small whicker table at what passed for a restaurant in her hometown of Kenitra. She tapped the side of her glass, staring out across the empty street. She jumped at the tap on her shoulder, and then smiled, laughing.

?Goodness, Kenneth, don?t sneak up on me!?

The brown-faced boy smiled, and then hugged her around the shoulders. His silent smile almost made her sad again, but she ruffled is short, soft hair, and kissed his forhead. His mother, Mizz Camellia, stepped out of the small building, and took Kenneth?s hand.

?Thank you, Mariah, dear. Take care!?

Kenneth waved goodbye as he and his mother went down the street. It was always so quiet in Kenitra at 9 am. Mariah began playing with the water in her glass, frosting the edges, and then making small spirals. With a sigh, she closed her eyes, and slowly shifted into a bluejay. She unfolded her wings, and flew off, bright blue against a baby blue sky.

As morgan made her way to the kitchen she smelt the thick bitter aroma of coffee brewing. She heard a baby begin to cry. She ignored it. It was Devin's job to take care of her kid. Elizabeth was almost two. Devin had had the child at 16. Today was the last day devin would be living with them she was moving out to live in chicago just a few miles away.

"Julia." Madge smiled as she hugged the woman.
"Hey sweatheart." the woman smiled as well. "What's this all about? You're not usually this cheerful."
"Just happy to see you." Madge loved the woman. This was one mother she actually could consider beeing hers. The woman had cinniman hair and chesnut eyes. her eyes were filled with so much warmth and caring that you couldn't even notice the deep wrinkles by her eyes. And she had this smile that cured every thing. Your boy friend dumped you she made it better. You got a bad grade on an exam she made you feel better aswell. You didn't make the basketball teem she could fix that too. She had the mothers cure.

"You want a muffin?" Her mom held up a stail apple muffin wrapped in plastic. It had a sticker on it. Madge narrowed her eyes.

Kenny's Dinner

"No thanks." She replied. "You actually got a job?"
"Yeah since three days ago how come you didn't know that?"She said as she began to wash a plate.
"You're working at Kenny's."
"We need the money I don't even want to hear it." Her mother avoided eye contact and set the plate in the strainer.
"What are you seeing Kenny again too." Madge persisted bitterly.
"I don't want to hear it." Julia screamed and slapped the wet cloth on the counter. "I don't want to hear it." The woman broke into tears as she slid to the ground. "I do what I have to for you kids."
"And I want you to let us help so you don't have to make these stupid ass choices." Madge rested a hand on Julia's shoulder."I will get a job. I'll help out.You let Dee get a job."
"That is different Devin needs to support her daughter. You are not a mother."
"Yes I know but still."
"Fine when I go to work to day I'll tell em I'm quitten then we'll go job searching together and find a place where we could both work and I could keep an eye on you."
"Mamma didn't raise no fool and papa didn't raise me at all." Madge kidded. "But seriously I can take care of my self. I'm a strong girl."
"Yeah I know I raised you that way." The woman stood up and attempted to regain her composure.

Morgan forced a smile and held back her words. If Julia only knew that she was twice the age she apeared to be but still a youngin for her species. She was a strong girl her whole life. She only now had regained a few memories. She only Knew she was 30 years old, her mom was an angel her father a demon, someone wanted to kill her and her parents so they sent her to earth to pose as a human shortly befor they were murdered. She was adopted twice befor now but both times she were found.
She also remembered one last detail. How she wound up here. She had decided her knowing her past put her in danger. So she Put her self in a babies form, One that would age like what she thought a human's did. She then took the last
step and wipped her memory clean. Why Julia had memories of giving birth to her or why she now was regaining some memeries was a mistery.

"What are you thinking of doodlebug?" Julia asked sending Madge back into reality.
"Oh nohing just spacing out." Madge said quickly. "What time is it?"
"5:33" JULIA SAID GLANCING AT HER WATCH.
"Shit I got to get moving."

Madge sat in the bathroom on the edge of the tub and turned the rusty handles Warm water sprayed unconsistantly out of the shower head. She stepped cautiously into the tub and closed the curtain. The water had a 'slight' tendency to switch temperatures with out notice. She stood there for a moment and enjoyed the feel of water rushing over her. Then be gn to wash her hair. She loved s howers it was her faverite part of the day. Getting clean. While she was shaving her legs she slid the rasor the wrong way and cut her self. She winced in shock not pain. The salty metalic sent of her blood consumed the room. She finished up quickly, the water was getting cold.

She went back into her room and got dressed. Her alphet of choice was a dark purple mini skirt fishnet stocking combat boots and a black tank top that laced up the front with a blu ribbon. She decided to put on half sleeves as well that also had laces.

She put her hair in princes laya buns and aplied dark eye make up thickly on her eye lids. Then put some green lipstick on.
She grabbed her ducked taped and safety pinned black back pack and headed towors the kitschen. She poored her self some coffe in a thermice and grabbed a cold bagle and half empty bag of grapes from the fridge.
"Bye Julia." Madge anounced as she glanced at the clock. 6:14
"Bye doodles." Julia called as Madge exited the small trailor.

Rubedo glanced back down at the little slip of paper, reading its contents yet again...

She wishes nothing from me...but if you wish to meet her... he saw right through the manipulation...supposibly, a Guardian by the name of Jacob breaks into his apartment..seeking his audience..and simply states a comment like that.

Do you truly take me to be a fool... Rubedo thought to himself as he dressed himself, then picking up his weapons from the table that he had placed them upon. He had nothing else better to do..figured he might as well meet this Reoan. Knowing his master would be displeased..Rubedo has already grown bored.

She saught me out...so she must want to see me about something...

Walking out the hotel room, carrying nothing but himself and the contents that he carried; he casually checked out of the hotel, giving his key to the receptionist and went on his way. Knowing his destination to be New York City, Rubedo knew he had to leave the city and its everwatchful eye in order to be on his "trip."

Alongside one of the roads lay a young woman...rapped and beaten, no one surrounding her took notice nor care for she was poor; ravaged, left alone in the darkness of her thoughts. As Rubedo passed her, her eyes locked with his...her soul, her spirit opening up to him. He had compassion on her...and knelt to one knee beside her. Holding his hands upon the wounds..the girl screamed as her wounds closed up and healed. Rubedo could feel his power flowing out of him into this young lady..her heart willing..the blood stopped running. Placing a hand upon her forehead..her eyes sheading tears of joy and pain, Rubedo did what he had always done...uttering a prayer to God and the powers that bound this world together and walked away.

***

Jacob was only the third Guardian Rubedo had any contact with in this life..primarily...he worked alone..and chose solitary. Wearing is usual headwear in public, he looked at the ever passing crowd as if it were in fast motion...as if time was speeding itself up.

Some things will never change..such a shame..and yet..I always hope, that some things will... as Rubedo walked past them all, not knowing the being that graced before them.

Heading towards the outskirts of Athens..where the open plains await him..his mind fluttered to his other encounters of Guardians..how pathetic they all seemed to be; Jacob didn't impress him either.

One thing his master taught him...was to have a sense of identify.."to know thyself..." he muttered underneathe his breath as the sun peired over the horizon as Rubedo walked the same dirt path he had done only a few days ago.

But who truly knows themselves anyway...
Lighting up a cigarette..Rubedo breathed in its soothing sensation..if only for a moment..the only thing that really felt real anyone. Dissapointed in it all..he so strong...and yet so many fools.

"I need a companion.." Rubedo spoke to the wind..talking to no one in particular...perhaps to God...or any other demon and angel surrounding the area. "I don't mind walking the same path over and over again...I..walking beside others through their pain..will someone truly take notice...and walk beside me. That's all I truly ask for..."

With a flick of his finger, Rubedo sent the cigarette bud into the gravel and took notice of his surroundings...sensing no one was around him.

"Oh well...lets see where this new path takes me..." stopping in the middle of the road, Rubedo bent both his knees slightly and closed his eyes...focusing upon his new now certain destination; central park...located in New York City, laying beyond the great Atlantic sea. He had been there before...so the trip wouldn't be so "stressful."

Lowering his heart rate, concentrating all his stength which now coarsed through his veins and tensed muscles upon his destination..the breeze picked up around him..whirling around him, blowing his hair from side to side...revieling the scar with cover the right side of his face, running right over his eye.

Coming down the road at great speeds...a jeep blared it horns...warning the young man who stood in the middle of the road. It was only a few feet away till Rubedo's trance was complete. Opening his eyes..Rubedo cocked his head back within moments of being hit by the jeep and looked heavenward...letting go of all the tension in his body.

It looked all of his surroundings broke to pieces, shattering into nothingness as a new reality faded into perception. Within only a few moments...Central Park was created around him..

Taking in the cold Northern U.S air...cooling his now heated body..Rubedo looked around him...trying to sense the presence of this Reoan. There were so many people dwelling within the area..human, guardian and angel alike...Rubedo decided not to care and walked towards a pond where children were playing with one another.

A smile spread across his face as he felt their joy; taking a seat beside the water...

Dear Journal,
I've broken away from my master for the time being...taking full advantage of this supposed break of his. I now await someone named Reoan whom as asked for my presence; bringing to me another form of living for this life of mine. I hope this is not a waste of my time...

Silence..

Kadar turned his head toward the waitress with his chin lieing on his crossed hands. He could hear the incident of his apartment complex, while the woman looked more or less horrified of the situation.

"Tabris.." There was no answer, but Kadar knew she was listening. "You yourself gave us the gift of free will..And also convinced man to end their ways long ago. In the time of our greatest folly, the reach to Heaven.."

Tabris' expression remained unchanged, but was none-the-less surprised about the specific knowledge that Kadar knew of.

"If we were given free will, then should we have had the right to want to be with God in life and death?" More silence, but this time Tabris snuffed her cigarette into the ashtray. "And if angels, gaurdians, grigori, demons, and every creation of God can make the dicision to fight with or against their creator, wouldn't that make it free will, too?" Kadar rose from his seat and turned toward the door of the diner.

"To choose yes or no..that seems to be a forced choice to me!" Before Tabris could answer, Kadar looked over his shoulder and gave a sneer. Not a sneer of being cocky or rebellious, but one of honor and true faith in what one believes in.

"As a fellow being of free will...I will take the path that lays before me! I will find the other Zodiacs! And when the time comes to finally confront Reoan, I will show you my answer! I will show you by placing judgement with the free will that God has willed me to have!"

Kadar pulled a ten from his pocket and tossed it onto the tabletop. He turned once more and headed to leave the diner. "When the time comes, you'll see what Kadar Romolac is all about." He opened the door and held it as he stood in the entryway as the light from sunrise shone in through the door. "Not as a human, but as one of God's many children!" The bell of the door rung as he dissapeared from sight.

'Maybe Man has a chance after all,' Tabris thought as another cigarette appeared in her hand.

Jane stopped in front of a plain brick building. No windows could be seen and the only door was in the front and only a plain steel door. As Camilla looked at the building she had a sick feeling come about her. This building gave her the creeps with its dark red bricks and no windows.

?This is where it is?? Camilla pointed to the building and said in a dry tone.

Nodding her head, ?Yes this is it.? Jane came up to Camilla and clapped her hands over her eyes. ?Come on it?s a surprise.? She laughed and pushed Camilla forward.

The smell of lilacs and violets hit her as soon as the door was open. The hairs on the back on her neck stood straight up as she heard the door slam behind her. The air was a humid and damp. It felt damp and Camilla felt beads form on her skin.

Oh my god! Had Jane signed us up for some bondage type thing. Panic started to tug at her. How could Jane trick me like this. She knows I would never do anything like this. Almost in a state of panic she felt Jane fingers loosen a bit. This is the part when? Her thoughts where interrupted by Jane.

?Okay you ready?? She pulled her hands off Camilla?s eyes to reveal a greenhouse. Light filtered down from skylights that cover almost two thirds of the roof. Camilla gasped, tons of flowers filled the place, and some that could never grown next to each other did here.

?Janie how?? Camilla?s gasped in awe and amazement.

?Oh Cammy I knew you would love to come here. I have been planning this for weeks now. Overtime I would see a flyer for it I would quickly distract you. Man it was hard to.? Jane laughed and hugged her friends.

?Thank you. You would never believe what I had thought you actually had planned.? As Camilla thought back her cheeks began to blush a bit.

?From the looks of you I think it was something?? Camilla placed her hands covering her, giving Jane a glare. Jane tried to laugh through Camilla hands.

?Okay enough.? She took her hands away from Jane?s mouth. ?Don?t say anything.? Jane gave her a sly grin. ?Don?t!?

As they walked thought the building of flower, on a path that was made of wood, Camilla noticed a small flower that had began to wilt. With a quick shake of her head she look around making sure that no on the other people where looking her way. She knelt down and touched the flower with the tip of her finger. Jane had whispered down to her and asked what she was doing. She waved her hand at her friend in a shushing manner. Camilla let out a smile as she seen that the flower looked healthier. ?Come on Janie lets go see what others they have here.?
?I am glad you are happy. You seemed down lately.? Jane took Camilla by the arm.

?Really. I didn?t think so.? She smiled at Jane. ?Never the less, I am happy now. I feel as giddy as a school girl.? Jane broke into hysterics to the point she almost was crying and Camilla smiled at her friend.

It was dark in the basement, but that's how this guy liked it. Ben thought it was a bit depressing, but he didn't say anything about it. For the last two hours, he'd been listening to this guy about what he thought was going on with the attack in the street earlier.

'More Guardians?' Ben asked, 'I though you guys were rare, or something.'

'There are more of us than you'd think.' the other said, 'I still think you're one, but you don't seem ready to accept it.'

'That might be, but I already told you that you should be ready to accept a beating if you brought it up again.' Ben replied, cracking his knuckles.

The other raised his hands, defensively.

'That's the last time, I swear.' he said.

'So,' Ben said, 'There's a psycho with guardian powers causing this? Even if it isn't directly?'

The man sighed, 'That's just what I think. There could be another reason, but it's not very likely.'

'Damn, Gabe.' Ben said.

'I know, this is some heavy shit.'

Ben chuckled, 'Sounds like fun.'

Gabe sighed again, 'Just like you, Ben. You hear that there's a force capable of destroying the entire human race as we know it, and you think it'd be fun to fight them.'

Ben shrugged, 'Yeah, so? It's not my fault you guys aren't a challenge.'

'You're lucky you're so good at fighting,' Gabe said, 'But, eventually, you're gonna find someone better than you. What're you gonna do then?'

'Dude, calm down.' Ben said, stretching, 'It'll be ok.'

Ben grabbed his coat and threw it on, walking towards the door.

Here's hoping. Gabe thought, Because, if you're wrong, it might not just be you that gets hurt. You weren't made for this kind of thing.

When Ben reached the street, he saw the sun setting behind the trees and buildings of the small town. He looked around, seeing that most people had already retreated to their homes for the night.

'Damn these small towns and their lack of anything interesting to do.' he said to the empty night as he began his walk to Jake's.

When he arrived, he heard the band practicing upstairs. After inviting himself in, he headed up the stairs to the attic where they practiced. When he arrived, the others stopped what they were doing and all turned on him.

'Hey guys, sorry I missed practice the other day, had some stuff to do.' he said.

'No problem.' Daren, the drummer, said.

'Yeah, we just went over the set list, anyway.' Jake admitted as he adjusted his guitar, apparently, he couldn't stay mad at Ben for long.

Alexa, the bassist and only female in the group, didn't say anything. She stared at the floor for a moment and, after a bit, laid the bass down on a spare chair and tackled Ben.

'Where have you been?' she said, 'You said you weren't doing the five dollar hitman thing anymore. If that what you were up to...'

'No!' Ben said, quickly, 'That's not what I was doing!'

'Good.' she said, crawling off him, 'Cause that's way too dangerous.'

Ben let out a breath as Jake and Daren started laughing.

'Figures,' Daren said, 'The only person Ben's afraid of would have to be Alex.'

Ben glared at them, 'Shut up and pick up your damn instruments.'

A few hours later, Ben was walking out of Jake's house with a guitar and a bass hanging off of one shoulder and Alexa hanging off the other one.

'Where are you going, now?' Alexa asked him.

Ben adjusted the straps on his shoulder before answering.

'I have more stuff to do.' he said.

She stopped, putting her hands on her hips.

'At quarter to twelve?' she asked, 'Just what kind of stuff do you have to do? I swear, if this is more of that...'

'It's not,' he interrupted, 'It's just something I have to do.'

'Fine,' she said, walking over and taking her bass from his shoulder, 'But, if you get hurt, don't expect me to cry over you.'

She turned and walked away. Ben watched her back as she made her way towards home.

'What the hell was that?' he asked.

'That,' he heard a voice say, 'Was a missed opportunity.'

Ben whirled around, but stopped short when he saw a woman standing there. She was taller than he was, with long red hair and blue eyes. She was dressed in, what looked like, a robe and sandals. She also had wings.

'Do you not see how she feels?' the woman asked.

Ben stared at her for a moment, then he asked the question that burned in his mind.

'What... the fuck... are you?'

'I am a messenger.' she replied.

'I didn't ask what you were doing here, I asked what you were.'

She sighed, 'I'm a seraphim.'

'An angel?' Ben asked.

'Don't miss anything, do you?'

'Shut it.' Ben replied, 'What do you want from me?'

'I bring you a message from God, himself.' she told him, 'You are to help the Guardians in defeating a being that could destroy everything.'

'Ha! Screw that.' Ben replied.

'You would deny your Lord?' she asked.

'Two things,' Ben said, 'One, he's not my 'lord'. Two, I work alone, and for my own reasons. Nobody else's.'

'You cannot, ' she was interrupted by the barrel of a 10mm pistol entering her mouth.

''Cannot' what?' he asked, 'According to you guys, we have free will, right? Fuck your 'God.' I don't work for anyone. If you got a problem with that, I'll send you straight to him, so you can bitch about it.'

She shook her head and Ben pulled his gun back.

'Now, get the hell out of here,' he continued, 'Before I change my mind.'

In a flash of light, the angel disappeared, replaced by the silent darkness of the night. Ben looked at the spot she'd just been and then up to the sky.

Could she really have been..? he thought.

'Bloody hell.'

Lucifer's grin grew wider as he was given a better veiw of Reoan. He was satisfied because his old eyes weren't fooling him. The actual rogue Guardian of legend was standing before him, aparently comfortable in her new skin. She had mentioned Azrael as she approached him, he smirked at mention of the angel's name.

"I have already seen and dealt with him."

One Hour Earlier

Lucifer had turned at the call of his name, imediately folding and dissolving his wings as he did. He smiled almost brightly as he took in the sight that was Azrael. He had not spoken to the angel in nearly a millenia and was feeling slightly reminiscent in his presence.

"Ah, Azrael." He walked towards the being with arms generously spread, "It truly has been too long."

Lucifer then made a grand honorary bow, something he hadn't done in ages, He then straightened and continued to speak.

"What is it that has brought you back to this foul pit called Earth?" He asked, keeping a fair distance between the two. Lucifer was a strong being, but nowhere strong as he used to be, especially against an agent of God. He would flee if Azrael wasn't confronting him on friendly terms.

"Still bitter I see." Azrael shook his head slightly, "I'm here to seek someone out, thus I'll be leaving you...."

Azrael began to turn and leave as Lucifer grinned wickedly, "He sent you because of Reoan didn't he?"

Azrael didn't answer yet still stood half-turned to the fallen angel. Lucifer edged closer, standing within touching distance of the heavenly angel.

"I feel her here," Lucifer spoke merrily, "She's going to bring about a big change isn't she?"

"It really is none of your buisness." Azrael then joined the conversation, "You've been through enough in your time, don't bring more upon yourself."

"You sound as if you actually care..." Lucifer retorted, trying to win over on the angel verbaly, "But it matters not, I will involve myself as I will."

Lucifer stood back, spreading his wings again, "Now if you will excuse me, I must meet with someone." He smiled before he took off, "I'm sure we'll meet again."

Present

"Well if it isn't my favorite Guardian. What brings you out into Central Park in such modern clothing?" He asked, strolling towards her.

"Out for a walk, trying to find what keeps you so interest in this world with all its change." She answered with a smile.

"Oh you know." Lucifer began, now standing over her, "These silly little humans amuse me much more than Satan ever could."

The two shared a gentle laugh as the morning sun lit the still sky. They then stood in silence, both reguarding eachother in their own quiet ways.

Azrael walked down the street, wings hidden from the prying eyes of mortals for the time being. He had hoped to talk to Lucifer longer, tryed to se if he knew anything about Reoan. But the Fallen had left Azrael in the dust. Again. He remembered when Lucifer had decided to rebel against God, and how he had cautioned the other Angel against doing so. But that hadn't helped. Lucifer was defeated and thrown into the Pit. Things that might have been traveled through Azrael's mind. Why had Lucifer rebelled? Why was Reoan free? The nice, orderly set up of the unverse had been turned topsy turvy, and Azrael had to help set it right. He looked around as rain began to fall. There weren't any mortals about. Good. He hunched down, his wings sprouting from his back ina bright burst of light, than leaped upwards, soaring into the marble grey sky as thick drops of rain began to pelt the city below.

He flapped his wings, than contented himself with gliding, ignoring the wet that splattered his face. he was supposed to find the Zodiac, and help them. But who was in the Zodiac? Lord, he thought, Help me find these people... Than, he saw a light streaming upwards in the sky. A Seraphim? He noted her position, than dove, meaning to find out what she had been up to. He saw the young man, standing in the street, a gun in one hand. Great. Was this one of the Zodiac?

YES. The Voice echoed in his head and died. Time to convince him to help. He flared hsi wings, and descended, landing gently behind the mortal. He drew himself up, brushing a stray hair back into place as he looked down at the mortal.

"Hello," he said, smiling as the mortal spun around. Azrael's wings were spread, and he glowed with light. Here was an Angel of the Lord in all his glory. "You're going to help me find Reoan and return her to the Pit. You don't get a choice."

"What?" the human yelled, "I'll tell you what I told that other bitch. I don't work for God. I have free will!" The mortal aimed his rather amusing human firearm at the angel.

The angel's voice grew deeper, and he seemd to grow taller, advancing a step towards the human, snatching the gun from him.

"Point that toy at me again, and I'll snap it in half, than make you eat the pieces. Clear?"

Reoan smiled at the pleasant and familiar face that had companied her so many times while she was in Hell. There was no attraction for the fallen angel other than a sense of companionship and similarity. Reoan shook her head as she slipped into a memory.

******************************

A sicking thud echoed across the scorching red pit as Reoan's body swung in her chains. A scream let loose from her mouth as she threw her head back, nearly hitting the red hot wall behind her. Her arms were stretched far apart by metal chains, cuffs cutting into her tender flesh of her wrist. Her body was bare, covered with dirt, blood, sweat and various wounds. Her long red-brown hair was a tangled mess behind her head, streaking across her face slightly.

Another bone broken, more blood was spilt and yet the ex-Guardian still kept a smile on her face after her screams. Her head fell forward, the muscles in her neck weak from the constant breaking of her spine. Given a mortal body to feel the constant pain and torcher, unable to heal the wounds she received and never able to die.

"You should just give in, Guardian." A rich english accent rose above the constant screams that adoren Hell. A hissing sound followed behind it; another body burned against the walls.

"What do you want, Fallen scum," Reoan growled, seeming more like a mumble then something threating.

"To ease your suffering," the Morning Star chuckled.

Reoan grit her teeth as she struggled to pull her head up to look at the dark figure before her. "Rot in..." Reoan's words trailed off.

"In Hell?" Lucifer smiled, laughter filtering through his words. "We're in Hell, Guardian and you'll never return to Earth, for God fears the destruction you will cause."

Reoan made a commotion in her chains, her torturer watching her struggle, a smile creasing his managled face. She managed to bring her head erect, her body straining with the effort. Blood raced from her wrist, every broken bone in her body sending almost unbearable pain through her.

"I will return to Earth! I will seek my revenge on the angel who betrayed me and I will send a message to God that I will never bow before him again!" As the last words left her lips, her torturer raced forward with his massive hammer.

He slammed the stone like head into her mid-section, a bone shattering sound screamed out as Reoan's body fell into the wall behind her. The shock from the blow numbed her for a moment before the searing of her flesh flooded her senses. The sound that echoed from her mouth rose from the depths of Hell and could be heard in Heaven. Nothing in the world could compare to the sound she made that day, and Lucifer watched as he saw her fight with all her might to get away from the wall. The torturer having a different idea.

Lucifer remembered when he had such spirt--such pride. But he feared that it would bring her down fall like it had him all those centuries ago.

***************************

Reoan was brought from her painful memory when a sudden knot filled her stomach and her chest tightened. She smiled and looked up at the dark fallen angel.

"My guest has arrived."

Lucifer smiled as he reached out and grabbed a handful of her hair gently. He noticed how dark it had grown since the first time he had seen her. It was nearly black now, just like her eyes. How much she seemed to resemble him, no wonder why God wanted her to have compassion or destroyed.

"I must go."

"I must be going as well." The fallen angel replied.

Reoan smiled smuggishly as she pulled away from Lucifer. "I'm sure we'll run into each other again." She slipped past him and vanished into the darkness as the rain began to fall upon the Earth.

Once out of sight Reoan fell to her knees in the mud, grasping her abdomen, including her rips. They ached and burned with the memory of them being crushed over and over again. Jacob had done so well to heal her, but he was unable to get it all. Some wounds laid far too deep for him to be able to heal and she suffered from them behind closed doors.

Reoan took a few short breaths before shoving herself to her feet again. She followed the laughter and joy that filled the air before the knot in her stomach filtered through her body. A tall, firmly built man stood before her. His essence floating from his body like a wave of small light. He watched the small children playing joyfully in the puddles by the road way.

"They seem so innocent, don't they?" Reoan said. She stood just out of sight from the kids, leaning up against a large tree trunk with her shoulder.

"You're late." The man said coldly over his shoulder.

"Ran into a Fallen." She smiled playfully. "I see Jacob was able to find you then?"

The red haired man allowed the slip of paper the Guardian had given him to fall to the soaked road way, water running over his body.

"I have a task I would like you to do. On behave of God, Satan, myself or just for the pure joy of it."

"Go on." He said, not sure he liked what this creature had to offer.

"No strings attatched. You'll never have to see me again and if I'm caught, your name will be cleared and never uttered again."

The Guardian didn't reply, just continued to watch the children.

"There are three government officals that have wronged not only humanity, but the higher order. I, myself, cannot bring them their just death for I would be discovered and stopped far too quickly. But you on the hand could perform the procedure flawlessly from what I've seen."

This caught the Guardians attention and he turned his head slightly to the side. Reoan smiled and continued.

"I will have a contact give you the names of the men and their current locations if you so wish to take this." Reoan crossed her arms as she waited for his response.
