BlueYoshi
A prequel to the first instalment of the series, DMC3 looks as if it has much to offer. Rather than just upgrading on visual content, Capcom are promising huge new game play additions, including the 'Style System', which allows you to change between different classes such as Gunslinger or Swordmaster plus many more. One is able to build up each of these job classes and learn abilities through gaining experience points in a very much similar way of that in FFX2 or FF Tactics.
We all know Devil May Cry 3 is coming. Seeing as how contently knowing is about as useful as trying to kill demons with a sword shorter than 10 feet, we pestered Capcom until we were presented with an official word: "Capcom will formally announce the game at E3." Whoops. Fortunately, we're persistent and about as informal as Ed at a donut and snowboarding convention, so we headed over to our Brisbane buds at PSM to check out the latest June issue of PlayStation 2 Magazine, which also informally heralds the coming of Devil May Cry 3 by putting it on the freaking cover. Official that! What did PSM teach us? The younger Dante is, the meaner and sexier he is. That's right, we said sexy. Subscribers of PlayStation Magazine are already fingering through the seven pages of Devil May Cry, complete with more new screenshots than you thought possible, but since the rest of the gaming world will have to wait until later this week to pick their copies up at newsstands, we figured we'd offer you a quick glimpse of the game. Expect... Setting: Prequel Premise: Not a damn thing to do with Devil May Cry or DMC 2, except for a younger Dante, who's apparently "full of piss and vinegar." Fiction: Over an hour of cinema -- almost no CG. The Suave: Versus, Twin Snakes director Ryuhei Kitamura sets up the cutscenes. Gameplay: Style system allows players to pick a style (hand-to-hand, gunslinger, swordfighter, acrobat, etcetera) and then pour points into that style to develop Dante in specific ways. Pacing: As long as the first game and as puzzle focused. Pugilist Love: Hand-to-hand fighting and expanded combos will proportedly "blow DMC1 away." Fluidity: Better animations and better animation transitions. Chaos: More destructible environments. Bosses: Pattern dependent baddies can no longer be mindlessly chopped to death. Crazy Giant Weapons: The old twelve foot, curvy electro-sword will definitely make an appearance. Release: Fall 2004
That pretty much sums up what DMC3 has to offer as of now. It seems Capcom have drastically thought it over in terms of developing the game play, I'll be looking forward to see how that turns out. Can't really say much more. Below are some screens I've attached, It's still a bit early so they're poor quality, but I have to say--Dante's looking his coolest yet, lol.

Alexandria
Daaaaaaaaante. Bish. The only reason I ever started playing DMC in the beginning was because of the bishy protagonist. XD I sucked at it though, so I never finished. This one looks nice, though. @.o I'll just watch someone else play.

I've seen a couple dates thrown around, ranging from 12/7 to 12/31. Releasing it before Christmas would be the logical scenario. The trailer looks fantastic but I'll reserve my excitement for the finished product after being burned by last year's letdown. There are so many quality games being released this holiday season that I can't see myself investing in something I may not enjoy. Especially when I already have Ninja Gaiden in my library. At least this one seems to employ the sense of style that was missing in Devil May Cry 2. It also seems to rectify the lack of action too--and it better if it doesn't want to get lost in the crowd. DMC 2, though it might have been well thought out, was horribly done and the blame lays squarely on the production team. I found out from either PSM or Newtype that the crew that did the original DMC was not doing the second one and a new crew had been brought in. Supposedly, the magazine had said that both crews were keeping in touch with each other however, as much as I'd like to believe that, I never saw any of the major characteristics from the first game carry over to the second game. We really didn't learn much about Lucia by the end of the game, and Dante just seemed rather hollow. And the thing that really burned me was the fact that all the freaking levels on any difficulty setting was easy as sin. I mean granted Orius' little bratty girls were annoying and that was the hard part, but other than that. Honestly I hope that Capcom learned from that mistake and has either brought back the original crew or they have a crew that has some sprinkling's of the original game's crew because I honestly hope that this game is a big sucess and not a big flop.
BlueYoshi
Devil May Cry was never meant to be a challenging game. I always saw it as a simple hack and slash that didn't really appeal to the action genre in general; unlimited ammo, basic controls--you'd be better off playing Super Contra for the SNES, lol. I can't imagine how the Style System would adapt to DMC though, Dante's current arsenal seem enough to do the job, no fancy stuff needed, heh, unless Capcom are trying to add some complexity to the game. In any case, as the previous games suggest, a complete analysis can only be made with some rock-bottom tangible evidence. Oh and, yes, the original DMC team will return to work on DMC3. Apparently the DMC2 team are working on RE: Outbreak o_O. Lucky us.

Especially the Phantom, Griffon, The Death thingy on the boat, and Mudus himself. All of those bosses were extremely hard, but the hardest would be Neo Angelo in the green house section, it was easy to get turned around, also you had to vary between guns and sword. In all honesty I think that the DMC 1 team should have done DMC2 because the crew that did do DMC 2 was horrible, they took a good name's sequel that was highly anticipated and killed it... So I am most definetly glad that the first crew is doing the third game because I'm sure that they will make the combos etc very interesting.
BlueYoshi
Not necessarily. True, DMC did allow you to make use of the surroundings, like jumping up to high ledges, and bouncing off walls, however, it didn't suit the control system as ?challenging?. It was more or less easy to say the least. Bosses did require a bit of brain and creativity if you wanted to get pass them, but they weren't anything you'd lose sleep over, especially with the options Dante has at your disposal, the devil transformations in particular--talk about being broke, lol. All in all, can you honestly say that even if Capcom are sticking with the original team that DMC3 will rise upon the whole series? You have to remember that many aspects of it have changed since the first instalment, and may not be to your liking regardless of the development team.
Guest gUnGrAvE 67
If Devil may Cry wasnt enough of a success for capcom back in the early days of the PS2. Devil May Cry one of the greatest action games of all time is getting its prequel Devil May Cry 3. This game may take what was missing from Devil May Cry 2 and add a twist to it and come back with another great action game. I was so excited when i heard the number DMC3 was comming out a long time back in Febuaary, That i went and started researching more about this game. Now i have found out a lot and know that this game may make up for Devil May Cry 2's lost efforts. This game has the original Devil May Cry crew working on DMC 3 which we all know that the regular crew worked on making Resident Evil Outbreak and Resident Evil 4. Also the whole game will be directed by the same man who created Street Fighter and that is a really good thing. It will also have the same Animation director as the one who directed the Metal Gear Solid cutscenes(and those cutscenes we all know are great). This time the adventure will go back to when Dante knew little about his amazing powers and his past. Dante will be 19 in this game and will also feature Dante's brother Virgil before he became Nelo Angelo the Dark Night. It will have a new style system built into it, The styles will be: Gunslinger(which allows you to do alot more gun tricks that will inflict more damage), Swordsmaster(Which lets you do much crazier sword atacks), Trickster(Allows you to do more technical attacks to enemies), And Royal Guard(Allows you to work on blocking techniques). It will feture a new game ingine that will feture better graphics much more expansive levels that envoirments can be interacted with, weather effects like rain thunder and lightning.New special effects which blood will spew out a lot cool looking. And a brand new female character which will be in the game. Also dante will talk a lot more than he did in DMC 2.
Ryuma Asakura
I've been mulling over this for the past few days, and then I found this forum, and thought: "Hey, I'll ask them!" Does anyone have any evidence of a Devil May Cry 3? A friend of mine was watching a program about E3, and she said she heard something about it. But I can't be sure. So, if you do, can you tell me where to find it, or tell me what you know about it? -Ryuma-
Shinmaru
I merged the threads. Before you create a thread on a game, run a quick search of the forum to make sure that there isn't already a thread on the game. Shouldn't take more than a minute or so, heh. And, yeah, I'd say that this thread is proof enough that there's a Devil May Cry 3 lol.
Ryuma Asakura
I am so so sorry! :::Feels rather stupid::: I'll remember to do that next time...thank you very much! :::Looks up, sees the Dante::: Oooh...bish. ^^
::Ex-Soldier::
I owned the first for a while because I think it was truely a brilliant game. I didn't play the second, but I heard alot of information about it being a let down and such, so I just decided to leave it alone. Hopefully, this will bring back the DMC feel. I actually like that it's a mindless action game with unlimited ammo and such. Because it's based on style, and it doesn't worry too much about items and such. BlueYoshi
Apparently the Japanese release of RE: Outbreak File #2 will come with a demo of DMC3. Capcom must be getting desperate considering the sales they made with the original game over there, though I'd still say it's not worth the buy just for it.
Guest Dark Dragon Ryu
As some of us know there is going to be a new Dmc i played the 2 last game and they were good and now a next one. As i saw on the previews you can kick and fight with your hands thats something you couldnt do on the other ones and you can learn skills from your sword and guns, and the story line is something with his brother i forgot , so what you guys think ? Guest kenboiluva
I can't wait either. My brother is going to get it. I don't really like to play video games but I don't mind watching people play. But this game llooks damn right hot. Dante is cute and so is his brother. I'll ty it out. Even though I suck at games. There's no harm trying.
satan665
This game is excellent. I never played the second due to the bad reviews, but own the first game which I was moderately happy with. The new DMC 3 blows it away so far though. Personally I find it to be a pretty tough game. I have to fight every natural urge I have to just run up and start pounding away on the bosses until they die. It really forces you to figure out good ways to beat them (clever ways). Also what I think is a big improvement is that when you are up against the regular enemies there is always more than 3 or 4 of them. It adds a sense of chaos where you need to keep moving and not get complacent. Even with the amount of times I have died in the game its just as fun to blast through the enemies leading up to the bosses. Also you now have the ability to switch between guns with just pressing L2, and switch between main weapons with R2. You get more orbs and health items if you build up style points while fighting (from not repeating combos and not getting hit) and one of the best ways I've found to do that is switch weapons on the fly. Even without much trouble you can knock someone up in the air with the sword, float him up there some more with ebony and ivory, then let him fall and finish him off before he hits the ground with the nunchaku. Its not really even a difficult move to pull off. If you like action games you have to at least rent this one.
BlueYoshi
Hah, it's cool to see that the game's getting positive feedback. That's a rarity for DMC. I guess I will try it out after all, then. I like what I'm hearing about the bosses, though. Clever is always good in my book, so it'll be interesting to see how that pans out.
Xx_Chaos_xX
The game is great so far. The first two Levels play like stages (i mean not much free RE roaming) There are 7 fighting styles Trickster: Trickster is the default style and basically the most well rounded one of them all, considering you can already attack and shoot with good proficiency based on just the square and triangle buttons, setting the circle button up as a dodge button can be helpful. This style gives you the ability to dodge attacks quickly as well as the ability to run up walls. SWORDMASTER - For those who prefer the use of the blade there's the Swordmaster style. This style gives you an additional sword attack button, the circle button. You can spin your sword around and also slash in mid-air. GUNSLINGER - My personal favourite, Gunslinger changes the circle button to an additional gunfire button giving virtually every gun a secondary fire mode and allowing you to shoot in multiple directions, charge up your Handguns, and do the Rain Storm attack where you spin upside down in mid-air. Another thing you may not know is if you knock down an easy enemy, jump on his back to surf! ROYALGUARD - This is the defensive style, I've rarely used it but it changes the circle button to a block button and gives you the ability to defend and counterattack. Given enough experience it should prove to be quite useful. QUICKSILVER - Unlocked after defeating Geryon, this style gives you the ability to use your Devil Trigger as a means to stop time and slash wildly at enemies who can do little but stay still as they are chopped into pieces. DOPPELGANGER - The final style is unlocked not surprisingly after defeating the Doppelganger. With this you can go into Devil Trigger and use R1 + Circle to spawn an image of yourself to help fight. This image can actually be controlled by a second controller, plug it in and try it out yourself. There are 10 weapons in the game Devil Arms: Rebellion Cerberus Agni & Rudra Nevan Beowulf Guns: Ebony & Ivory Shotgun Artemis Spiral Kalina Ann Dante fights his brother Vergil who was Nelo Angelo in Devil may cry 1, and in DMC 1 he had his spikey hair. Well what do you guys think of the game??
Filipinorocker1
Anyone here hear about the new Devil May Cry video game. I'm not sure if its out yet or if its been out but I just want to know if anyone here has anything to share about the game. I have played the first 2 games and I think they are good. The graphics are good and gameplay is fun. Not too much button changing like in those other games where you have to press 5 buttons to do an attack. Overall the games are good. But I want your opinion too so just reply. Merged this with the original DMC3 thread. - Desbreko
Musashi189
I played both DMC games, the 1st was puzzuling and the 2nd one was to easy that blew but Devil may Cry 3 is like the new Ninja Gaidan same diffaculty gamplay, puzzels, and everthing on it, also the way I see DMC3 it's like the Legend of Zelda games the bosses and puzzels in both games are simular but still Dante kicks butt. bellpickle
Sorry for grave-digging through old threads, but I was just wondering if anyone is planning to buy DMC3: Special Edition? The extras on that game look awesome. Playable Vergil, Jester Boss Battle, Bloody Palace mode, and more? For only $19.99?
