Filipinorocker1
What is the most addicting game out there? I think Final Fantasy is one of the most addicting games around. When I start playing Final Fantasy I cant stop playing. Another addicting game is Grand theft auto. Now these are really good games, but doing nothing but playing games non-stop is problematic. Its awesome, but problematic.
Roxie~¤
Pokemon can be kind of addicting. I don't own much games, but Animal Crossing is addictive too. In the summer, my cousin came over from England and spent countless hours in front of the TV playing AC. -_-
2010DigitalBoy
There are many games I find addicting. I agree that Pokemon and Animal Crossing are both very addicting. For me, the most addicting game ever is Phantasy Star Online episode 1&2. I have had some pretty long marathons playing 4 player on that game, only to wake up the next day and have another marathon! Its kind of like Gauntlet in how you basically just run around and use the same few attacks to kill waves of enemies.
Morpheus
Animal Crossing. I bought it when it came out (Sep. 02) and didn't slow down until March 03. It still gets me to this day (as I'm sure ACDS will).
Kairi
LOL...as much as those games are addicting... I think WoW (World Of Warcraft) definitly is at the top of most people's list. Seriously...so many people I know have already dropped out of school because of failing cause of that games:) If you haven't played it...or know nothing about it...:)...take a look. And if you start playing...and u start failing...ill take full responsibility.
DeathBug
I find that it's easier to become addicted to the simpler games than the more complicated ones. It's like there's a voice in your head telling you, "It's so simple: just get the frog across the street! Why can't I do it?!" Tetris owned me for two years... Desbreko
Heh, yeah, whenever I start playing Tetris it sucks me right in. Maybe not for hours on end, but I definitely get that feeling of "just one more game." Animal Crossing is another good candidate. I played it for about four months straight when I first got it, then for another month straight after taking a break. Then for another month or so a while later when I started a new character in my village. Must've put well over 100 hours into the game, though it's gotten kind of boring now that I've done pretty close to everything there is to do. I can't wait for Animal Crossing DS to come out so I can relive the magic of AC, though. And I see that one staying fun for a lot longer since it'll have online play, too. Maybe I'll even be able to visit some other OB members' villages. That would be really awesome. I'm having a hard time pinpointing a single game to point at and say, "This is the one I find most addicting," though. Problem is, some games really suck me in for a while, but then grow old. So I'm not sure if I'd count something like that if it's not still addictive. And then there are games that I find really fun to play, no matter how old they grow, but that I only get the urge to play every now and then. Those I think would better be described as "timeless" (and I think there's a thread about those, too), rather than "addictive." There aren't really any games that fully meet both criteria. I think the game that's done the best for being highly addictive for long periods of time, though, would be Super Smash Bros. Melee. (And also the original SSB, though not quite to the same extent.) I don't play it all the time, but I do pick it up pretty regularly and play for about a couple weeks out of every few months. So it gets my pick for the most addictive game I've ever played.
boxybrown305
I never really got into Animal Crossing. I borrowed it from a friend, but i just didn't do much. I just don't have the patience. I do find many RPGs like Final Fantasy, and especially GTA to be quite addicitng. I can honestly say the one game that i was most addicted to (even if only for a short time) is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (although the other MGS games were addicting as well). The night i got MGS3, i started playing it around 10:00 at night. I continued to play it until 1:00, the next afternoon (that would be about 15 hours straight), having only one break the whole time to go to the bathroom, no eating, no sleep. The only reason i didn't play it even more was due to my damn social life. (i had a play i had to go to, plus school the next day). I beat it two days later though, with 24 hours put into it, well over half from the one night. I haven't played it since, though. The second most addicting gamy i've played was Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Within the first week of owning it i had over 40 hours in it. I probably have close to 100 now, and i'm still no where near done...
Lord Dante
one word: space invaders (ok, so two words) i've played that game over the internet for a total of 100 hours (this month). space invaders is addicting. addicting. space invaders is as addicting as an addicting thing ! ...but i digress. personally, i think that games like final fantasy are addicting to the point of insanity (i once played final fantasy 7 for eight days straight, without sleep). plus tombi is quite addictive. the oddworld quintology are also deliciously addictive. kaisha
Animal Crossing, man when I first got it I could'nt stop!! (I got it about a year ago) I still play it from time to time but not like I did then, I played about 5 hours a day right after I got it. Now I hardly ever play it. Lunai
I have to agree with Dooby about Katamari Damacy. It's one of those games that you get as much out of watching someone else play as you do playing yourself. MSN's Zone.Com games like Mah Jong Quest & Jewel Quest I have clocked in hours & hours in the past week alone. Also Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. That game is outright addictive. I'm sure my roommate could name a few more, but nearly every game in his eyes is addictive. He's a hardcore gamer.
drive_monster
I just picked up the PSP over the weekend, and I'm already addicted to one of the games: Lumines. Right after I got the PSP I played Lumines for 6 hours straight. For me playing a puzzle game, that's a lot. Like BoxyBrown305 mentioned, I also got addicted to MGS 3. When I first got my copy, it was a Friday, so I had the whole weekend to beat it (and I did) :p Another game I got addicted to was Final Fantasy VII. I would end up thinking to myself "Come on, just one more level!" for hours. :animesmil
Ailes de Velour
Dance Dance Revolution. It's healthy, tiring, and fun. Whenever I close my eyes, I see fluorescent arrows flying into outlines. I was addicted to Pokemon Sapphire, recently, too. Vatch
Tetris, you just can't help it can you. Is it the simplicity, or maybe the very pretty colors. Either way it's one of the most addicting games ever created. Oh, I can't forget Animal crossing. I found I had more of a life in that game than in real life (Sad ain't it :animecry:). Cap'n
I find that most MMORPG's are incredibly addictive...Ragnarok Online and the like. I know I failed my U.S. History class cuz I played RO all the time. Then my mom made me quit :animecry: .
Malak
oo ya i have RO too, its good but not too addicting i have animal crossing and as fun as that can be its pretty much lie a firework at first i couldnt stop playin then it finally died out when i realized im doin the same thing every day, and the ppl of the town were so annoying, i wish i had a Gps divice on each of em, and that i can hit em (did ne1 beat that giraffe challange? i keep trying..) but by far the most addicting game ive played is either KoF' (any year) or Counter-Strike: Source. Xyandar
Starcraft is really addicting for an older game. Every time my friends and I go on Battle.net, we end up being on there for hours and wasting soo much time just killing people countless times. Each game lasts from 30 minutes to an hour or more usually and we end up playing around 8 every time we're both online.
Gavin
Interesting, most interesting, Recently I have to admit that the Knights of the Old Republic or KOTOR series confiscated my life, as like Desbreko I experienced the "Just one more Hour" syndrome. I'm not sure whether it was because KOTOR I was my first PC RPG, or whether it was because it was so filled with the mystique of the Star Wars Universe but it really did appeal to me. I played it into the wee hours of the morning when I first go it, although I have to admit that I was slightly disappointed that it ended after only about 27 hours as I was hoping it would last a bit longer. Then when KOTOR II came along I was swept up once again, although I personally didn't find it to be as good a game as before it was still riveting my first time through it. Maybe it's because the game had a case of a lot of bugs, or perhaps it's because the ending portion of the game feels rather rushed [care of a LucasArts 12 month development schedule] but it did feel a slightly lesser game to it's older brother. When I was younger however there was one great addictive game in the form of Pokémon Blue, I remember dedicating at least 19 hours to it in a single day and still enjoy to odd Pokémon related romp with the new games, although Sapphire was a slight bit of a disappointment. I think Pokémon was one of those games that everyone got addicted to quickly because there was that element of singular and yet co-operative play to it, I go both Red and Blue for Christmas when they game out and my brother and I dedicated at least 150 hours to it between us over the course of Christmas. However before even Pokémon Blue there was the ultimate addiction of Super Mario for the N.E.S., I can't have been more than 6 at the time but it was definitely one of those games that you could never put down, perhaps it was because it was one of my earliest gaming experiences but it really was something special. Kamuro
KOTOR is definitely addicting, I beat each one twice and it still left me wanting more, but the one game I was really addicted to was Suikoden III I beat it at least 3-4 times and it never got old, choosing different character line-ups, abilities, etc., it never got old
Erika
When I was younger however there was one great addictive game in the form of Pokémon Blue[/B'], I remember dedicating at least 19 hours to it in a single day and still enjoy to odd Pokémon related romp with the new games, although Sapphire was a slight bit of a disappointment.
I'm still pretty damn addictive to the series to this day, although I didn't get into it until 2000-2002. I don't think I'll ever get sick of the series (except for the long and grueling training, but patience is a virtue, and EV training sure as all hell pays off)! There's just something about collecting and training and breeding monsters in a lighthearted 2D RPG (and it's all well delivered) that makes it irresistable and more importantly, simply fun. And no they're not all "fuzzy little balls of cute". And the ones that are generally suck anyway. XD A second game/series that got me hooked was Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. The gameplay had such a nice learning curve (and it helped that I had played the PSOne game before lol). Everytime I'd save my game (usually after a battle and BSing around in the menus...I love menus XD), I'd think, "Whoa, it's been almost an hour already?" I had bought this game for week-long trip and yeah, I got the "Just One More Hour Syndrome" lol. Both Pokemon and FFTA I play as much as my situation would allow, whether it be in the bathroom or in bed, or on the road, lol. QuincyArcher
I think just any game with a really good storyline can be really addicting, you keep saying to yourself "ok once i get this thing done, im gonna stop" but then the story takes another twist and you have keep going to see what happens. Games like the Final Fantasy series, the Metal Gear Solid series or even games like Half-Life 2. Im the same when i watch anime, i always tell myself im just gonna watch 1 or 2 episodes but before i know it i've blown through half the series in one sitting. Burori
In my opinion any RPG game like Diablo 2 that hooks to the internet will hold your soul forever! For me I am a slave to Neverwinter Nights from January to the day I die....
kizu
For me, pretty much any game I play turns out to be addicting. Normally when I get a game I play it, and play it until I beat it. When I first got a ps1 and Legend of Dragoon, I played around 5 hours every day that school week and at least 8 each day of the weekend until I beat it. A few years back when I got Metroid Prime for Christmas I played it all day the next few days till I beat it. When I get a game as long as it is half way decent I play it as much as I can till I beat it. I can think of one game off the top of my head that broke that streak if only for a short time. OoT, I played that game till I beat it, then I made a new character and beat it again. I must have beaten that game at least 8 times before I finally got tired of play it. Halo 1 & 2 both took me 2 days to beat (that was on normal, I'm not crazy sweet and going to beat it in 2 days on anything like legendary) and are still (at least halo 2) probably my most played games. Over the summer, I took up the game RuneScape. I played that some stinking much, you wouldn't believe. As soon as I finished all of the free quest I lost all interest in the game. Games to me are about goals. To be really addicting then you have to want to spend all your free time to play them. Now if you have a game that is like that, but you accomplished all your goals, do you still play it? For me, a game needs to have a purpose, and that purpose is why I haven't found any real addicting games. Either they don't have any finite purpose, or they have an end that you obtain. I never got into Tetris because of this; I never saw what the point of it was.
Shuiri
For me, the most addicting game has to be Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. I've played the said game: 136:23:27. And, frankly, I find that a bit scary. I have never -Ever- played a game that long, but, I suppose the aura of Laharl and his gang has its own grip on me. I assume MMORPGs are far more addicting, but I can't justify that for a fact. But, if they are, I'd best stay away from them >_<;;.
