1. Neon Genesis, this was the first anime I was aware that I was watching. In fact the first episode I saw was the doctor messing with her mothers brain inside casper. Had me hooked, I have since watched the series and movies several times over. Without it I would have probably stuck to the english dubbed rubbish that comes to Australia via (at the time) Agro and then later on CheeseTV. (Thankfully until the advent of the internet and dvd's SBS had enough anime to keep me happy.) So yes, NGE gets the top of my list.

2. DearS, what can I say; a completely weird story line with interesting plot twists... Great animation - I really liked the style they use. I'm not a fan of anime that has little detail in the frames. Added with a solid story line which is some thing many animes lack. Also very, very funny with out really trying. Though I'm guessing it might be slightly to mature for some users here.

10. Pokemon, I was 14, leave me alone! I was completely addicted to Pokemon for years in primary school. So I guess I must give it a mention.

Well that is the start of my list, I assume I still have a little while to update it. I need to find the spelling of some I've watched over the last few months, and remember the reason I love Ghost in a Shell. (Yes that is a poor excuse to watch it all again. :P)

Hmmm this will be tough to decide, but heres my 10:

10. Samurai Champloo - Although this series hasn't even finished airing in japan (last i checked they were on episode 24) it has very quickly become one of my favorite series. I'm not a fan of rap and/or hip-hop so i was a bit skeptical going into this series, but that doesn't seem to hinder it at all. This series has lots of great action, a great cast of characters and an excellent plotline. I highly recommend it.

9. Azumanga Daioh - This is a very cute and extremely hilarious series, i was hooked right after the first episode. Although this series doesn't a very deep plot or any rich character developement like you'll find in other animes. It's probably the best series that you can pop in any episode for a quick laugh without feeling like you're missing something. All of the characters are very loveable and have their own unique personalities and quirks that will keep you coming back for more.

8. FLCL - I actually had to force myself to get through the first episode of this mini-series just because it was so bizarre right from the get-go, but in the end im very glad i did. This is a great series with a very strange, twisting plot thats probably not for everybody. But if you're a fan of other series' by Gainax then you'll probably love it. This series also had a great soundtrack.

7. Cowboy Bebop - This is probably one of the most well known and highly acclaimed series here on Otakuboards, and rightfully so. A perfect combination of Sci-fi and Spaghetti Western with some great Jazz-y themes. Intense action, great storylines and a very diverse set of characters.

6. Elfen Lied - I have to thank Dagger for getting me curious enough to check this series out. Underneath all the gore and nudity this series is a gem that many people will overlook. It has a very deep, addicting plot that can be very intense but also very emotional at times. This series also had the best, most satisfying ending that i have seen in anime (but that doesn't necessarily mean its a happy ending.)

5. Chobits - Another very cute series with a fairly interesting and unique plot and setting. If you like romance-comedies with a unique twist then Chobits is one of the best out there. But on top of that, i also think that Chobits is one of the best looking series' out there as well. Clamp did an excellent job animating this series and putting tons of detail into everything, each episode is literally filled with tons of eye candy.

4. Last Exile - This series is easily one of the best just on style alone, everything from the design and mechanics of the ships to the almost dream-worldish setting. But to top it all of it has an excellent plot that just gets better with each episode, and some of the best character developement i've seen.

3. Mahoromatic - This series has a little bit of everything. Action, Drama, Comedy and Romance and it all meshes together perfectly. and combine that with a great set of characters (Mahoro is still my favorite character in all of anime) and a very unique premise and the product is an anime worthy of my top 3.

2. Fruits Basket - I have known about this series for years, but only got around to watching it about a month ago. This series is home to the best cast of characters out there. I found each character to be very charming and extremely likeable in their own way, Everyone has their own set of quirks to set them apart from the rest. This series also has an excellent storyline that can be very serious, emotional or even flat out hilarious when it wants to be. In fact, out of every anime, tv show and movie i've seen, episode 15 of this series in the only thing that has ever actually made me cry. And that says a lot for this series.

1. Neon Genesis Evangelion - Over the years many series' have tried to copy, compete with, and even beat NGE. But none have ever come close. NGE is an incredible and unforgettable series with a real mind bender of a storyline with lots of underlying commentary about modern society. This series also has the best character developement out there. Neon Genesis is a must-see for any self respecting anime fan. period.

Well there ya have it. My top 10, some other series worth honorable mention are: Ai Yori Aoshi, Love Hina, Koi Kaze, School Rumble, Ghost in the Shell, Noir and Tenjou Tenge. Unfortunately they werent quite good enough to make the top 10, but still worth seeing.

Sorry but I've got 11 animes and I couldn't bring myself to drop one.
11.Tenchi Muyo
Pretty sure a lot of women aren't gonna like me for having on the list, but this is one of the first animes I've seen so it has a place in my heart. It wasn't the fact that Tenchi had all these girls on him that drew me, it was how funny the characters were as they fought over him and I actually liked the storyline.

10.Serial Experiments Lain
Biggest brain **** I've seen. FLCL atleast made sense in a way, I've watched this Anime in it's entirety 5 times and I still don't understand the whole thing.

9.Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure
Kinda the same as Tenchi Muyo, women all over the guy and the guys pretty powerful. The jealousy of the female characters made for some funny moments and the storyline was pretty good as well. Dr. Sinata's the best!

8.R.O.D. OVA
Haven't seen the TV series so I can't comment on that, but I loved the OVA. The Paper made the ability to control paper very bad ***. The idea of having historical figures trying to bring the extinction of mankind was great. The animation was well done and the episodes played out like a movie. People wish they had the power of fire or water, I wish I had the power to control paper.

7.Rurouni Kenshin
This anime didn't just draw me, it drew my whole family! The sword fights and characters are great and it does well in it's serious to humor shifts. After Shishioh things kind of slowed down for me, but it's still a great anime.

6.DB/Z/GT
Another anime that will always be in my heart. The original was very funny, especially in the beginning when Goku was curious about everyone and pat them. Half of the Innuendo was lost on me back then, but now I find it hilarious. The fights didn't last beyond 2 episodes until around the end with Piccolo too. The Z frenzy of blond hair and giant fireballs dragged on at times, but like a fan at a wrestling match I just kept cheering my hero on. GT was a nice way to end it, but God dang! Half of the aliens they fought were ugly as sin.

5.Midori No Hibi
This anime's got the most insane idea yet, I swear the creators were on something to come up with it. The story of a teenage hoodlum who somehow has a miniture girl for a right hand! As the story progressed I wanted him to make out with his hand and felt weird for thinking that. The action bits are incredible and there's a lot of hilarious moments throughout each episode. From start to end this anime was rock solid in it's ability to pull emotion out of me. Just makes ya wanna tell your love interest you love 'em.

4.Bleach
An anime that makes me want even more at the end of each episode. Every aspect of this anime is great. The action, comedy, drama, music, everyDamnThing is great!
The opener * is great and the closers are memorable. Kon's the Man!

3.Full Metal Alchemist
This Anime is Rock Solid in every way I like an anime to be. It's action packed, the characters are great, the story is well written, and the music is good. Every character can easily become a fan favorite, well maybe not gluttony or 1 episode villains. Each episode leaves me wanting more.

2.Cowboy Bebop
The coolest anime on the planet. Every episode was great and well done. It was a very well done anime in every aspect. The action was well done, spike moved with great fluid motions and the Gun VS. Sword fights looked believable. The space battles were good aswell. There was great character development and they each brought something good to the table. There was a character for everyone and I just loved them all. Started great and ended perfectly.

1.Yu Yu Hakusho
The only anime to ever make me shed a tear. This anime just has some powerful episodes that get to me. The fights were just plain good, some fights did the usual Hero needs to dig deep cliche, but some fights were different like the toe to toe fights that kept things interesting. The main character becomes so powerful but is believable when it looks like he may die. The characters are powerful, but not so powerful that they go DBZ and kill the technical side to combat. These guys actually use tactics, like a smoke screen or set ups. The only fight to go beyond 3 episodes was the Sensui fight and it was good, besides how weird Sensui was. The anime's hilarious and the supporting females proved to be fully capable of taking care of themselves.

So much more I could add in, but I've already typed for an hour and half, I go sleep now, heh.
Aside: Maybe typing Stream of Consciousness was a bad idea.

1. Naruto- It's fun. It's enjoyable. I thnk it appeals to a large audience. Not only is it one of the longest running series I have ever seen, it is also an amazing blend of humor, drama, action, and emotional scenes. It's a good mix of the 4. The characters are easy to identify with so it is incredibly easy to get hooked until the very end. Let's not forget the fact that it deals with ninjas. This was the only anime that I have ever seriously cried in...I'm talking severe depression for like....3 days. -__-

2. Gravitation- Gotta get my shonen-ai in. Gravitation is probably my favorite show, but I think the fact that it is so short allows Naruto to pass it. The story is amazingly cute and sweet. The plot is easy to guess, but the delivery makes it seem as though you've never seen a show like this before. The music is unparalleled. It is so catchy and so fun.

***3. Shingetsutan Tsukihime- Sheer beauty. That's the best way I can describe Tsukihime. I'm not sure I have ever seen a plot like this before. In the beginning, you are perplexed to an extent many of us have never experienced before. Anime is supposed to be a fun, easy show to watch right? Wrong. Tsukihime keeps you on your toes until the very end. A plot twist here, a plot twist there, and what you thought was true turns out to be false. The music just adds so much more. The violins are heart-wrenchingly beautiful.

4. Bleach- I love this show. I haven't seen all of the episodes yet, but I still really like it. The jokes are all really funny, and the animations are very pretty. The story line is an interesting one too....awwwww who am I kidding? I love the show for the Orange Range theme song and Kon, the greatest character ever. ^__~

5. R.O.D.- A really good show. I'm more partial to the OVAs than the actual show, but it is still pretty awesome. Until this show, I had never really imagined people having powers like the Paper sisters do. It's a fun anime all around.

6. Trigun- Simply because it has lasted so long. The story line was pretty original. I have always loved the connections between plants and humans they made in this show. It has depth, but at the same time it is really fun and exciting.

7. Gate Keepers/Gate Keepers 21- I included the OVA with this one simply because they are so close together that to get the full Gate Keepers experience you have to have seen Gate Keepers 21. It was a bit perplexing at times, but in the end it was worth it. I mean, where else can you trigger huge "gates" to open up and anihilate enemies? I loved it.

8. Samurai Champloo- Everybody has to love the Champloo. ^__^ It is so new age ninja that it just blows my mind. The plot isn't new...but the fabled "breakdance" fighting makes this one a must see. Wantabe seriously knew what he was doing with this one.

9. Full Metal Alchemist- I have always loved FMA. The use of alchemy in anime is something I'm not necessarily familiar with so I don't really know if the idea is original or not. But the entire show just fits together so well that it is hard not to love it.

10. I don't have a 10. >__>

****Just for clarity Shingetsutan Tsukihime goes by many names: Monn Princess Tsukihime, Tsukihime, Lunar Legend Tsukihime, and about 5 more. I think these are the most common ones. Just to help you out when you see more than one name for it. ^__^

EVA: Can you think of any way to combine this with the other favorites thread that recently started floating about? I don't know who brought that one back from the dead, as it's much older than your thread. If that's not feasible... well, no worries. It's just that this thread is a) more recent and b) is significantly higher in quality. So I'd prefer for it to be the dominant favorites topic. If you can come up with a way to merge them which wouldn't screw up your scoring system, let me know.

1. Yuu Yuu Hakusho

2. Urusei Yatusra
Its classic, its Funny (ive..read many many liner notes to get the jokes) and its has some very 'intersting' characters and obscure situations.

3. Neon Genisis Evangelion
wonderfully done. and Great plot, and character deleopment, fight scenes, Music.
I love the way they mixed reliogon in with the plot. The character almost seem real ( besides the being a clone or haveing to pliot a Eva part..) all the fights are differnt and intersting, and the Music blew me away. they Pop,Classical, horns, jazz, and R&B.

4. 3x3 eyes

I need to finish this later im being kicked off.

It wouldn't really work, given that this thread is part of an organized survey while the other thread is just people blabbing about whatever shows they like.

1. Furi Kuri/Fooly Cooly/FLCL: the best animation I've ever seen in an anime series, despite being too short for my liking, Fooly Cooly is my favorite anime ever, because it blends in inside jokes about my other favorite anime, gives pulse-pounding, super fast and fluid action, beautiful animation, and really humor. Also, sword-fighting with electrical guitars is just really fun to watch.

2. Mobile Suit Gundam: 0080 War in a Pocket: my favorite Gundam series, which is also unfortunatley short, takes place around the end of the MS Gundam original series on an outer space colony where a little boy comes to find out his older half-brother is one of the Zeon Zaku II pilots that crashed in the colony at the hand of the Federation. Alot of drama and plot twists later make for a great ending battle. The animation was really good, and I loved the realistic mecha design (as real as a humanoid robot can get), and the opening sequence in the show is probably the best robot fight I've ever seen. The ending nearly made me cry, but I'm a trooper...

3. Read or Die: The Movie/OVA: not only one of the most action packed anime I've seen, but probably one of the most creative (right next to FLCL), Read or Die felt like someone was massaging my eyes as I watched the wonderfully smooth animation and fluid fight scenes (not to mention entertaining), I really loved this movie (its a movie, it was two hours long, so there). I particularly loved the fight scene of Deep and Paper vs. Genjo. That was amazing.

4. The Animatrix: this little miniseries (if you could call it that) really rejuvinated my love of the original Matrix movie. It also did a really good job of building up the mythology of whole universe. To me, some where better than others. Animation would definetley have to go to "Second Renaissance", but art style is a tie between "Kid's Tale" and "Detective Story". For straight up story, it would to me, probably go to "World Record". That was just a really cool one. I really liked this.

5. Full Metal Alchemist: its made me [adult swim]'s b*tch all over again. Smooth and fluid story telling coupled with really nice animation and character design really makes me happy. Full Metal Alchemist makes me happy. It has some very cool action scenes and a deep mythology through out. FMA has probably the coolest, most lovable characters I've seen in a while. I mean, who can't love Roy Mustang? The delightful state alchemists who turns the air into napalm bombs? Or Armstrong, the big lovable, steroid-ish guy who punches... things... Anyway, FMA is really cool, and got me back into anime after a while of leave from it.... happy.

6. Cowboy Bebop: the first anime that I began remembering episode names to and began digging into the characters psyche. It showed me how deep anime could be (and how much more deeper it could be). Being an avid Bruce Lee fan, I instantly fell in love with Spike's character, and the whole 'wild west galaxy' was a cool idea to me. CB probably had the greatest music I've ever heard in anime, causing me to hum both of its theme songs out of boredom, I really, really love the show...The movie was great, also! (also, I can't wait for Samurai Champloo to come out, so I can see what else the creators are doing.)

7. Trigun: A really, really fun show. Not the best animation in the world, but the story and character design took me away into the planet Gunsmoke. The western feel gives a certain nostalgia. Its like watching "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly", but with super guns and mutated people! I am a particular fan of Nicholas D. Wolfwood, the eccentric preist (thats a good thing right now) who totes the coolest weapon I've seen sense Akira (gotta love the laser rifle). Deep story telling, and a deep philosophical message in this one.

8. Outlaw Star: took me away from my fascination of Dragon Ball Z, and made me a permanent fan. I still have my taped episodes. I love this show and the whole backing behind it. It predated Cowboy Bebop for me, and had a really cool sci-fi/fantasy flavor to it (with the Tao masters and all). I still, still love that little robot Gillium, and Asia Clan Clan... and Jim... But most of all, Harry McDougle! That was the first villain in an anime that I actually felt sorry for. The guy was really messed up, but man, didn't I feel for him and his longing for Melfina...

9. Tenchi Muyo: the show that got me into romantic comedy. Sort of... It made me appreciate romance in anime alot more than I used to. It had a really fun basis and some really lovable characters. I was a fan of Mihoshi, Washu, Ryoko, Kyone, the whole bunch really! Except Ayeka... But ya gotta admit, Grandpa was a hussla pimp! That guy got to know all the girls before Tenchi could even really talk to them... I guess he just had a way with the ladies. (Ah, cat-rabbits turning into space ships... good times... good times...)

10. Dragon Ball Z: Don't Hate! Almost all of you know that this show turned you into an anime fan, and opened the door for the rest of the great stuff out today. Though I don't really watch it anymore (the games are fun though), I will admit that I love this show for what it did for anime and me aswell. And I'll admit, back in the day, watching Green Mutants pound on a little kid and his buddies was good entertainment. (also, gotta love the Vegeta...)

----------------------------------------

I know what your saying... "But ReFlux, all of the shows have aired on Cartoon Network..." well, folks. I don't have the ends to pay 30 bones for an anime DVD that I don't even know is good. I have bought, with much satisfaction, the Ruroini Kenshin Season One DVDs and Cowboy Bebop DVD Vol. 1. I'd rather preveiw something before I waste my money on it.

11. Akira
12. Hellsing
13. The Slayers
14. Naruto
15. Mobile Suit Gundam: 008th MS Team

Well, this little list is gonna get lost amid the other lists, but whatever.

1. Neon Genesis Evangelion: It's a really good show... Don't exactly know what to say. But the idea of interfacing with your "mecha" was a new idea for me. Props to it.

2. Naruto: I really like the character development in this, especially Naruto. The fighting scenes are good, and the creator was pretty creative in general.

3. Mobile Suit Gundam: I loved SEED. I love Wing even more. But the foundation to it all was MSG. Gundam is everything it is today because of this show -- SEED basically ripped everything from it, and Wing has elements floating through it. And most (if not all) Gundam Series have a Char reincarnation. It profoundly impacted the series.

4. Kino's Journey: My god, this show was awesome. I'm genuinely surprised that it hasn't popped up on more lists. I suppose that's thanks to Cartoon Network/Adult Swim... Anyway, the sheer ingenuity of it all, just blows my mind. It's deep, sometimes too much, and leaves me riddled at the end. It's not the typical-plotted anime, but rather delievers a message.

5. Outlaw Star: Yes, it pwnz you. The ending to the story was pretty sad, but I still loved it with all my heart. Grappler battles? Who'da thunk? And the crew aboard the ship was good too.

But I'm gonna end this list now. I haven't seen enough good anime for it to make the list. Sorry.

As of right now

1. Great Teacher Onizuka (GTO) - By far my favorite anime ever. Out of the 50 to 60 some odd series that I have watched so far this by far exceeds a lot of other animes. Had one of the best story arcs I could think of and ever character was great when expressing their feelings. It has everything you want in an anime: comedy, romance, thriller, suspenseful, twists, character dev., and just a great story. I thought this series was so good i went out and bought every manga on the series i could find (only 2 more volumes to go). Of course the dub is much better than the sub (can't stand half of the Japanese voice actors in this one) and all the plot twists of Onizuka being in a former biker gang and now a teacher trying not to get fired from a corrupted class is great. Plus it has the best anime character that has come around, which is Urumi Kanzaki. Makes me wonder why some people don't have this in there top 10.

2. RahXephon - Probably a close second to GTO. This used to be one of my favorite animes for such a long time since this also had a great story...for a mech anime. The artistic paintings/drawings in this anime are beautiful and the anime just has a special movement throughout the series. Plus I can't think of even one character you could hate in this anime. The main character isn't constantly crying like in other mech series (Gundam Seed Destiny which will come up later on in my voting and Evangelion which i completely dislike...i thought every character was either fake or nonexistant except for Asuka Laundry...hate me if you want but you know its true.) Great show and most of you seem to know that anyway.

3. Gantz - Quickly turning out to be one of my favorite series. The first episode is so funny and i even got a couple people to get into anime with this series. I only have up to the 3rd volume since thats all thats out right now. Even though it has only 2 episodes per jacket...I keep wanting to buy them. This is sort of a mixture of Battle Royale and Blue Gender. The dub on this one isn't the best but the sub is extremely good.

4. Texhnolyze - Funny thing about this anime is i always have to look up the spelling of the title on the DVD cover. Is probably the best thriller anime i have seen. One of my favorite characters in the anime dies out of no where and I totally didn't see it happening (thought he would die about 3/4 through). This, like RahXephon, has brillant artistic imagery in it as well.

5. Elfen Lied - All i have to say for this series is one word....crazy. I don't think there has been a crazier opening episode to a series then Elfen Lied. My roommate says it was basically violence for the sake of violence with all the limbs and heads being sliced off, but the series shows how the human race is as the dominate predator on the planet so far (and what could happen if another predator tried to taking over the human race) . With only 13 episodes (14 really but i havent seen this episode since i couldnt find it on a fan-sub, but it should be released in the DVD's coming out in May) I just wish it could have been a little longer.

6. Naruto - Is similar to Hunter X Hunter and Yu Yu Hakusho. Only thing is I thought it was the better of the three (just a little slightly better than Hunter X Hunter). Has so far a great story to it for the 120 some odd episodes I have seen so far. Some what gets a little off track here and there but it still is a great series.

7. Cowboy Bebop - I have always truly loved this show and if it wasn't for it being so mainstream now i probably would have given it a higher rating. There is really nothing for me to say about this anime that all of you already know.

This is where it gets tricky

8. Saishuuheike Kanojo - Many of you may have never heard of this series. Is sort of the same as Elfen lied in story content and length. I was a little confused here and there but it really is a great series to show what true love will do to a couple.

9. Gundam Seed/Gundam Seed Destiny - I really like the story in this series. Even though i hated Kira I thought all of the other characters were interesting.

10. Berserk - For the series coming short I thought it was amazing nonetheless. Takes place in the midevil times with old school artistic imagery.

If anyone else feels like commenting about my choices that would be great.

Which character are you referring to?

Yeah, Texhnolyze is a visual masterpiece. I really should get around to re-watching the last few discs; I love how the
surface
world is portrayed. Although it's hardly an uplifting story, the way the plot unfolds just seems so right. There are a lot of allegorical nuances, too. I wish more people would give the show a chance. Well, at least someone else here has seen it. :animesmil

I think Elfen Lied will become very popular once it hits DVD in the States. It's already rather infamous in some circles of the fandom, and it has a lot of substance to back up its eye-catching visuals and flashy violence.
Which character are you referring to?
The characters name is
Kazuho Yoshii
as the one guy you meet in the very beginning of the anime who
descended from the surface world and went to the underworld. Also is the one who started the "spectacle" on the surface world. Just a little more about him that will make it clear again who he is (cause i kind of forgot at one point) hes the one who asks about his past from Ran and never gets it told. Thats why I liked him so much cause he was so mystifying and enigmatic. It kind of sucks though how he dies in episode 10. I think he possibly comes back in a later episode during the whole upbringing of the new texhnolyze robots that take over the underground world.
I think you may agree with me so tell me what you think :p .

Mmmkay...here goes...

10.) Dragon Ball/Z/GT. This is the anime that got me started on anime. I may not like it now, but once upon a time, I was obsessed with it.

9.) First Gundam. A classic, and also my favorite Gundam series to date. ^^

8.) Cowboy Bebop. Also one of my favorite anime back in the day. Who doesn't love Radical Edward?

7.) ROD the TV. One of the most original fighting shows I've seen to date.

6.) Hôshin Engi/Soul Hunter. One of my current favorites, with a very diverse cast of characters, and based on Chinese mythology. Plus all of the interesting Paopei rock.

5.) Excel Saga. An anime that has kept me up laughing on countless nights. Plus the satire is brilliant.

4.) Noir. I was blown away by this anime when I first saw it. The Christian mythological references, the lush European setting, the gunfightrs and shôjo-ai hints...I was hooked.

3.) Full Metal Alchemist. The reason I stay up until midnight on Saturdays...I just love the whole concept. The close brotherly bonds, the alchemy, the alternate world, the homunculi...all of it. And the females are awesome, and everyone has their own distinct personality, espoecially the military folk.

2.) Fruits Basket. My very VERY favorite shôjo series ever. A perfect blend of screwball comedy, romance, and wise insights into human nature. Plus the unique use of the Chinese Zodiac.

And...

1.) Yû Yû Hakusho. All that I could ever ask for in a shônen title. Not only do we have the requisite fighting, but we have strong female characters (Genkai, Mukuro), people who are usually thrown out in Japanese society being the main characters (Yûsuke and Kuwabara),Shintô and Buddhist mythology, and a psychological complexity to all of the characters that many other shônen shows only dream of aspiring to. THIS is the main point of the show, NOT the fighting, IMHO: the workings of the minds of the characters (ALL the characters- you quickly learn that nothing is black and white in the YYH-verse). :animestun

1. Monster - A realistic psychological thriller that will make you change the way you look at anime. The greatest and most terrifying anime story ever told. 76 episodes, around 50 done in Japan.

2. Last Exile - This is perfect for the whole family. A great plot, breathtaking visuals, adrenaline-pumped soundtrack, memorable characters. Last Exile is just a fun retro-futuristic adventure that grabs you from the very beginning and never lets you go.

3. Paranoia Agent - A brilliant anime that takes you into the minds of people to see what drives them insane. Satoshi Kon, the man responsible for Tokyo Godfathers & Perfect Blue has created his own brilliant series.

4. Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo - A sci-fi adaption of Alexandre Dumas's "The Count of Monte Cristo." This is one of the most artistic and compelling anime series I've seen. You are expecting a revenge tale correct? How about one that has a Japanese twist?

5. Bleach - The most fun you'll have with a ghost story. Bleached-out animation, spectacular action, tons of hiliarious moments. This anime is just a perfect blend of action and humor. The amount of episodes is still unknown.

6. Samurai Champloo - Champloo means mixing or blending, (aka stir-fry). What do you get when you mix hip-hop with samurai's? Loads of entertainment.

7. Eflen Lied - This anime really brought out the tears. The characters are just so cute and if something were to happen to them, you'd cry a bucket full too. :animecry:

8. Boogiepop Phantom - The most confusing anime ever made. So confusing that one of the people who worked on this, advise that you have to watch 1 episode per week just to comprehend it all. I still don't understand it but that's what seperates this from other anime's. It tells a large non-linear story through dozens of characters in a way a spider weaves a web. :animestun

9. Hellsing - Dark, Gothic, and entertaining. Vampires don't get much cooler than this.

10. Hunter X Hunter - I've only seen 4 episodes but this is already better than Naruto: The king of unnecessary flashbacks. :animeswea
