Who else has read the Hellsing manga? I got volume one the other day and was very impressed. I expected it to be all dark and stuff but I actually had fun reading it. It was VERY gory and VERY cool. I own the first 2 DVDs but havent watched them yet, but Im hoping their as good as the manga!

I own the Hellsing mangas 1 - 6... I like it personally, but I don't think its epic enough... The whole setting or scenario seems to be limited to the Hellsing base, a little part of Brazil, and a little part of London... the world seems a bit too closed for me. Then, there's Arucard being rather... invincible. He's killing everything in his way with little or no damage. Currently, I'm just hoping that they'll just get a move on and end in some big apocalyptic battle.

1-6?? how many are there? Well, I watched the first DVD and it was cool and all but the manga OWNED it, seriously. I hope the later episodes are better. Alucard's invincibleness is kinda corny, but I find it cool waching a dude get blown to smitherenes then get up and kill everyone.

"Souls of the living dead shall be banished into enternal damnation...Amen" This is what made me LOVE hellsing! I have seen the first 6 episodes and read volume 1 of the manga. I was very pleased! I'm into vampires and gore. I am a really big Celes Victoria fan!
"I'm Yan" "And I'm Luke" "And here's our weather report." "Hey bro didn't we loose?" "Yes we sure did." "Hey bro what's that eating your head?" "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.....well you're on fire"......"Grr, goofing off again!" That's one of the next episode things. It's amazing aint it!!!

I loved Hellsing the anime and am sooooooo excited that the manga is coming out in english!
I'm very pleased with the translation and art in the first english volume (can't wait for the second!)

the main thing I liked was more action for Integra (she's obviously my fav), and the style of the art is pretty awesome!

I found these posts in a now dead forum, and I think you Hellsing fans might find it interesting:
"A hardcore Hellsing friend of mine says that Hellsing was originally a very old hentai-manga...later remade into another manga (the one you ready today) and then the anime. "
"yup, the hentai is called "Sour orange" but its very short - only few pages :] "
It's interesting where the best anime and manga series originate from, huh?

Ooookaayyyy. That explains the close
Lezbo scene in the T.V.Series
heh. I for one have watched the entire series on DVD and I will say just like Metatron that it is not as good as it could have been.
Arucard does come of and is imortal unfortunately. He does die for a split second then he feeds off of the dead to respawn back to life. It gets dull after a while. There is a HUGE epic battle with Arucard that Metatron could possibly enjoy but like I said earlier that Arucard never dies in.

Heh, I got v.1 too ^__^V

It seems cool, I thought it looked very good and I was awed when I read v.1. Though at first I thought that it wouldn't have any funny parts in it, I guess it did even though they seemed out of place in some places. I also liked the bonus manga at the end of the book.
Irish in manga=BAD....... =/

Yes I also bought #1 this past Friday....they charge an arm and a leg for it compared to other manga (but thats Dark Horse being mean) I'm trying to read it good...I got confused in the beginning with Sir Hellsing
Gender wise in the beginning I thought she looked like a girl and then they were calling her "Sir" but now I'm sure gender wise lol
I really like Alucard he's awesome. I drew a picture of him .....maybe I'll post it in the art section. :tasty:

i've read the manga, and seen the whole anime series, i loved every minute of it (i realy liked that part at the begining of the series when alucard was being shot by the priests gouls and the bullet tore open his cheek, the sound it made was awesome). that irish guy in the manga was harder then h*** to read though. i've heard that the manga explains more than the anime. the anime didn't do very well in japan, so i think they kind of rushed the ending on us. the only problem i saw with the series was that serres (police girl) served no purpose but to give you something to oggle at. besides that i think the series is great

Though I haven't seen the anime, a manga can go more indepth then its anime. Take EVA. I feel I enjoy the manga more then the series because it can explain things easier because it isn't timed. I also agree with you Serres doesn't really have a part in the story in v.1. I mean, she seemed to be the main character because she is now a vampire and must understand that she can't go back to being a human. I don't know, that is what I thought =/.

who else thinks the manga is better than the anime?

i think they really shoudl have had the stoy in the anime the same as the manga, or make more of the anime with that stroyline. i loved the anime and how it looked and everything. especially the music, but that all is beside the piont.

alucard is one of my favroite anime characters of all time(hes such a pimp!) and he is even more viscious and violent than in the anime and it is awesome. its kinda wierd with
the whole nazi thing and some people may find it stupid, but i think that its interesting and different and i really want to get vol. 5 so the war can begin.
one thing that really bothers me is how they try to put accents in the manga, i.e. Father Anderson. thats the stupidest thing ever. you cant even tell what hes saying unless you think about it a lot and i dont need that. i almost stopped reading the manga because of it. the same thing happens with
the fuhrer(no idea how to spell that)and all of the german people.

other than that no complaints here, so what are youre thoughts on this? and sorry if i screwed anything up, im really tired now...

The manga is definatly even more fun than the anime. I don't really understand your problem with the accents, it helps add character and I don't really find it any harder to read. Volume 5 is just as good, get it as soon as you can. Its a shame they could include dawn, the prequel with Walter, Alucard and the Nazis during WWII, in the later volumes as an extra.

My only big beef with the accents is that it just gets kind of annoying. Ill add my own accents if I want them. Thats my only complaint about the manga. other than that i think its amazing. i absolutely cant wait to see walter when he was young fighting those nazis. now if only i had money...

does anyone think incognito will show up in the manga at any point?
(hmmmm.....maybe for those nazis...just a thought)

Drizzle, you already have vol. 4? LET ME READ IT!!! (and get 5 while your at it)

Anyhoo, yes the manga is way better than the anime, though the anime is good too. I also fully agree with the accents. I hardly understand a thing the stupid priest is saying.
I also highly suspect that the Fuhrer (i can't spell either...) is the master of Incognito. And that the Fuhrer is the rogue member of the round table thingy (is that what it's called, it's been a while since i wacthed the anime).
Can't wait. Must read!

Actually,
Incognito was made up for the anime and totally unrelated to Millenium
... The anime is pretty much unrelated to the manga after the Valentine Brothers. Though there is a trailer for the Hellsing anime that had the Captain, Doc, and the Major (Furher?) in it... If I remember correctly O_o The Major is in it for sure ^^; I just sort of remember there being two other guys standing around.

I think everyone I've talked to hates the accents XD Most of the manga characters are a lot cooler than the ones in the anime as well (like Pip and pretty much all the Nazis, Rip Van, the Captain and Schrodinger especially)

I totally heart young Walter and girly Alucard though. Squee for Hellsing Dawn~

I also think that Hellsing is up to volume 7 in Japan? But I could be wrong...
