Chinese Manga

It seems everyont is talking about Japanese Manga, and always bypasses Chinese Manga.

This is no attempt at "nationalism" (I'm black), nor am I trying to drive you all away from Japanese Manga, just try not to be closed minded about other types of Manga.

For me, the artwork is better (see "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon"),
The fight scenes are great,if not better than Japanese Manga, and the storylines are just as involving.

I still love Manga as a whole (Chinese or Japanese), but I still can't realise why anyone can't expand.

As for my preferences...

Black Leopard (MUST READ)

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

Hero

Stormriders (movie was crap, they tried to compress the entire manga into one movie)

and...

Fist of the Blue Moon

These are some preferences. There are many more. Try it out.

stormriders is one of my fav chinese martial arts manga. and its the longest series, it had been more than 10 years, and the story have not end. do you read till the latest vol. and there is one more chinese manga that is recommend that is long hu men (dragon tiger door)... sounds weird when i translated directly from chinese..

QUOTE=kaisha]Intresting I've never heard of these mangas before, I mean I watched part of Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but I had no idea it was based on a manga! Thats so cool!
unless you are living in a country that has quite alot of chinese population, i doubt you heard of these mangas.

Are Chinese manga generally sold alongside manwha (Korean manga) and regular manga? If so, I'd be willing to bet that many people just don't know the difference. Quite a few manga buyers--even those who also buy manwha regularly--think that manwha is just "flipped" manga (since manwha reads from left to right).

I honestly doubt that fans are being close-minded about Chinese manga; they could very well read it regularly without even being aware that there's a distinction. Unless, of course, Chinese manga looks very different from manwha & normal manga (which some might find off-putting), or is difficult to find. In that case it can simply be chalked up to limited access; in my experience, most people just buy whatever they can locate on the shelves of their local bookstore, regardless of whether it's Japanese or Korean in origin. I don't think I've seen many--if any--Chinese manga in stores, but Korean & Japanese manga are quite abundant.

Interestingly, the only people I know who actively avoid Korean series are heavy collectors who had bad experiences with some manwha and thereafter decided to stick only with Japanese manga. Then again, I might feel the same way if the first manwha I finished was Les Bijoux. :animeswea

Chinese manga looks VERY different from Japanese manga. In New York, there are SEVERAL places to find translated or non-translated manga. Any chinatown will do, as would most comic sellers.

They are mirror imaged, so peicing some of the panels together is nessesary.

I don't know the site deffinitelly, but www.comicsone.com should be it. They have many listings of chinese manga. I think they sell online as well.

I have heard many myths and rumors, but I did not know China and Korea had comics of their own; I merely thought Japan and America were the only places on the planet that make comics. :animestun

But seriously though, my preference is manga; but only because I don't know where to find any Chinese manga (no Chinatown around here...) or manwha. I read occidental comics though, seeing as how I live in the US. Someday though, I'll have to order some of these mysterious manga that aren't from Japan. :therock:

My dad owns some Chinese 'manhua', and yet he yells at me for reading manga. My Chinese isn't that good, so I can't read it that well. Most of the 'manhua' that my dad owns are fantasy action ones, and there's one about sport/soccer.

I knew that Couching Tiger Hidden Dragon was a comic, but i thought it was of Japanese culture or area. Now that i know i think i'll try it.

Ya know, I never pay attention to what nationality the comics I read are...if it sounds good, I read it...granted, mostly I read the Japanese stuff, but that's just because that's mostly what I've heard of. I really enjoyed Les Bijoux though... :D

:animeknow hhmmm... i don't think so. i think that they just came up with the storyline and used a famous phrase "house of flying daggers" ( which is really oddly translated) i think its suppose to mean "ambushed" but i dunno. i also think that the title is a chinese song but im not 100% sure :animesigh

I don't believe that House of flying daggers is based on a manga.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is based off a manga, which was based off a book.

Hero- same story.

Stormriders- I stated in a previous post.

Fist of the Blue Moon was based off Fist of the North Star, but in a modern setting.
