THe .hack//SIGN song "Open Your Heart" really rings clear with me. I find it a useful reminder from day-to-day to keep my mind open to the rest of the world, even if I do hate most of it. I am also very attatched to the song "Hello, Tiny Star" from the short film Voices of a Distant Star; it holds special meaning to my friend and I. She moved away, and we hardly get to see each other anymore, so I dedicated the song to our friendship. Do you have an anime or anime song that has a practical use or sentimental meaning to you?

I have this one neat little parchment (all celtic style - paper and font), that has something similar to a reminder. It's entitled "On This Day" and says a ton of stuff that one should do. It's very neat and poetic: "Mend a Quarrel. Search out a forgotten friend. Forego a debt." However, it ends rather erratically: "Speak your love. Speak your love again. Speak your love once more." I know it's not music, but how you talk about "Open Your Heart" reminded me of it.

As far as anime music goes, Naruto's "Go!!!" Opening must have been the most upbeat song I've heard for quite a while. Whenever I needed to pep myself up, I would put that song on. For some reason, it just hasn't had the same effect on me as it did four months before.

"A Little Plate's Rondo" is a great song that I still put on from time to time. It has a "playful, relaxed" feel to it. It's nice to use whenever I am tense and need to take things a little less seriously. Although, like "Go!!!," this song hasn't really been hitting the spot for the past four months.

As you can see, I can't find any anime music I can currently "connect" with. In fact, it's been hard for me to any find music that I want to listen to. The only thing anime-related that I've been listening to as of late has been "Liar You Lie" by Yuki Kajiura from the Noir OST I.

Everything else has been Celtic music, some (most?) of which spills into the New Age genre. Celtic does get mixed up with New Age every now and then (and vice versa), but I think that's because the two usually have the same "spirit" in mind. Also, a few Contemporary pieces are in my playlist. I don't think I'll ever get sick of Celtic/New Age. It's my "fail-safe" music, haha.

If this question was asked four months earlier, I would have a much better anime-related answer. :-/

I like that song very much, but the one that i simply love and own is the song called, 'Fake Wings'...from .Hack//Sign. Another one I love is from Lain, 'Duvet'. I do have other anime favorites...but can't think of them now.

Whoo, I like this thread ^_^

*rifles through anime soundtrack collection*

For me, the most relevant one that I like best is probably 'VIVID', the Final Fantasy: Unlimited end theme. The translation on the internet I found I don't really like, as the meanings of the words don't make a lot of sense. The subtitles on the DVDs, however, really make the message stand out a lot more. Basically it talks about being so in love with someone that you can't say anything, and you just want to spill your guts about it but don't know what to do. I'm not in that situation right now (nor have I been for a while), but it's one I can always identify with.

I tend to find personal relevance in a lot of songs I listen to. I tend to enjoy anime ones more if there is something there I can latch onto emotionally (I'm sure I could find more if I could understand Japanese...) A lot of the ones from .hack//SIGNecifically 'The World' and 'In the land of twilight, under the moon' have some meaning to me. The Lost Universe opening theme is something I'd pretty much call my own opening theme, even though the lyrics are pretty corny when you look at them. It's still good, though.

I have two favourite songs.

The first is from Cowboy Bebop - Call Me Call Me.
It's so sweet and such a sad part of the show
everything's coming to an end and Ed and Ein leaving
it always brings tears to my eyes.

The second is the opening song in Lain - Duvet.
I can't tell you what it is about this song, but it makes me feel very sad and alone.

God, too many songs to comment over.....ok here's my current top 5-

5- Naruto- Wind
A very peaceful song, the kind of song I listen to as I sit outside on a peaceful day. What's even cooler is that this song is sung in english, and even better is that is english we can make out and not the "scary Engrish" that most Japanese artists who try to sing english make it out. Very cool:)

4- .hack Sign- Aura
Any mix of this song is very good, although I lean more to the Evil mix. Very somber sounding. The kind of song you would listen to if you were a little pissed off at something it actually makes you feel better. (Don't ask me why)

3- Golden Boy- Study a Go Go! (Ending Theme)
This song used to bug me a little, but now I consider it my official study/exam theme as I take my finals and other tests. Very genki, very happy, very positive sounding. It also says Ganbatte a good number of times and that just has to make you feel good.

2- Saiyuki- For Real
This song is just so dynamic its scary. I have to listen to this song at least once a day, but maybe that's why I'm a big Saiyuki fan. The kind of song that you listen to as you walk along the street or sidewalk. Also sing it outloud just to see the looks on the people who listen.

and my current #1 is.....

Air- Tori no Uta
Ahhhhhh....sugoi......this song is sooo beautiful sounding I can't get it out of my head. This goes almost like Open your Heart, but goes beyond it. It sounds more alive, more etherial, much lighter. YOu listen to this song and you just wish to have wings so you can fly through the clouds.......ahhhhhh.

anyway that's my top 5.
