I know, I know, RPG... But still Final Fantasy VII, beating the Weapons Ruby, and Emerald. Without the Lucky 7777!!!!! But, I didn't save after I beat Emerald because I kicked my Playstation... I never went underwater again... :animesigh

Also in Pokemon Gold/Silver, catching the legendary bastards, Entei, Raikou, and Suicune... They ran around the friggin' world so many times... It took me a year and a half to catch them... :animestun

And in Super Mario Sunshine, there were a lot, but I don't really remember them...

Phantasy Star Online, getting to the Caves on Ultimate mode... I stopped playing for two months afterward...

Sonic Adventure DX, getting all the emblems and beating all the missions... But hey! Being Metal Sonic's kind of cool!

Zelda: Wind Waker, Getting all the treasure charts then going to them all.

Beating Gunstar Heroes (Sega Genesis) at all!!!! Hard game...

I know there are more, but I just can't think of anything more... :animesigh

For me, the hardest task was getting 100% completion on FFX. it took me 180 hours of intense playing to do this. the hardest part of this was the blitzball, i can't even remember when i got his overdrives and celestial weapon. I can safely say that if i never see a blitzball again it'll be too soon.

Getting to level 5 in Ikaruga on the gamecube. Man that's hard as hell. It doesnt even matter that i didn't beat lvl 5 it was good enough just to make it there. If you play the game for 10+ hours with a save file, you get unlimited continues (i think). I never used that... >.< stuck with 3.
Becominf the master of every guild in morrowind was the hardest thing I ever done. thats about 70+ hours right there. Mage was easy but thieves was annoying
How did you become master of both the fighters and the thieves guild? It won't let me do it. (and yes, I did join both)

Hmm....

Beating Tekken 4 on Very Hard in under 10 minutes should be one. That was a good time.
Unlocking all the characters in Tekken Tag Tournament.
Finally beating ******** Leo in Lunar 2: Eternal Blue.
Beating Street Fighter II on SNES with Ken. (That Damned, Jack Rabbit Vega!!!)
Beating and completeing all of Metal Gear Solid: VR Missions.
Being Sexually molested in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. *snicker*
Being the undisputed champ of Timesplitters 2 in Multitap Four Player.
Finishing that stupid Water Temple in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Beating Super Smash Brothers on Very Hard with one life... and I still didn't Unlock Goku... (I was so naive...)
Getting every movie and character in Twisted Metal Black.
Beating Time Crisis 2 with dual guns... (I felt so bad *ss... And it hurt too, standing there for one and half hours...)
Beating Raven in Metal Gear Solid.
Figuring out how to beat Psycho Mantis is Metal Gear Solid.
Finishing Alice in Wonderland in Kingdom Hearts.
Beating (FINALLY) Robot Akuma in Street Fighter vs. Marvel Super Heroes.
Sitting through every cut scene of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and then staying up till 7 a.m. beating it. Then sitting though the credits. (Didn't wanna miss the shocking end!)

Thats all for now...

Man was this hard for me. I wouldnt say it's a goal.....but i have beaten LOZ OOT without getting hit once in the whole game. It took me lik years to do it too.Imagine you're at the last boss in the game and then you get hit. YOU HAVE TO RESTART YOUR FILE OVER AGAIN. But that's if you truly want to do it and not take the easy way out by saving and resarting thae game. Well i know that game inside out and i can easly say where is and find a bunch of things with my eyes closed.

oh. my. frikkin. god.

in final Fantasy 1, in the third Soul of Chaos dungeon, there is an insane boss. Omega. This ***** took me 35 turns to beat, on my 10th try, and it was crazy. I had my white wizard use Healaga EVERY TURN. I had my Black Wizard use Thundaga EVERY TURN. I basically had my fighter attack every turn. My Warrior just used items and upped my stats. Ive always been the kind of person who doesnt usually use stat upgrades, so this was fun for me.

I have to agree with James, GT3s license tests are hellish. Given the fact that I suck horribly at driving, I was just submitting into masochism. Hell, I still haven't beaten the last race for the Rally License. A bit sad, really. But otherwise, I'd have to for surviving more than five minutes in Shinobi's later levels.

That game is just insanely difficult, and undoubtedly unfair. It frequently makes you its *****, & it's none to pleasing. Bouts of frustration are guaranteed.

I'm going to have to say that after months and months of continuous play on my SNES I finally got past the 3rd level in Super Ghouls and Ghosts!
And if you say you've beaten this game then you're a damn liar because this game is nigh impossible and you should burn for lying like a dog!

Well for me the hardest task I've ever done is to beat the boss in the desert in Diablo II. He's a pain on normal level, downright annoying on Nightmare level, but on the Hell level you just want to strangle who ever made that boss and put it in the game. I lost count of how many times I died trying to beat him on the Hell level.

One of the hardest accomplishments for me would be beating Dragonball Z: Budokai 3 on Z3 Mode (hardest difficulty) with Uub...GAHH! I wanted to toss the freakin' PS2 out the window along with the 36'' TV!

Another hard game accomplishment was getting all the Chocographs in FFIX. It took me a good 10 hours or so to get them all, and another 10 to actually get the treasures. Heh...another urge to throw the Playstation out the window...

And the final one: I know this sounds pathetic, but beating Halo on Normal difficulty...I must suck at it, even with one of my friends! Gah...it was rather difficult...next up: Heroic. ( I think thats the next difficulty)

double-teaming PSO with two new characters at once. Both hands, and both feet. Needless to say, I didn't do a lot of R+button combo's, but I got two characters leveled up at once. Mucho fun, Mucho hard.

Another one was beating Deadbeard on Golden Sun. That was a pain...

Oh noes, an old thread...sue me. :D

I think the hardest thing I've ever accomplished, was finally beating God Of War on the God difficulty. Oh man, there were SO many...so so SO many moments I wanted to strangle myself with the controller cord. I went through at least 2 controllers, as I know I broke one by throwing it at the wall...heh, I was celebrating when I finally beat it.

I'd say first getting all the Graffiti souls in JSRF then unlocking the characters in the game. Then I'd say trying to kill every single monster in the silent hill series with the Knife. Then I'd say All the level 4 weapons in Dynasty warriors series when the characters you are using suck.

The hardest, most satisfying, and the most downright amazing video gaming probably took place while playing Rome: Total War. I was playing as the Brutii Romans, and I was nearing the end of the game. I had about 3 Urban Cohorts (Elite infantry troopers, about 150 in all) and my Faction Leader (Accompanied by 22 bodyguards, all elite mounted warriors) and about 18 mounted Preatorian cavalrymen with 4 Ballistas. I was defending againts the full blunt of the Brittanian horde (Numbering 1500, mostly elite Chosen Swordsmen and Warbands) So it was basically 200 VS 1500, I was defending a city with Epic Walls (The largest stone walls, nearly impervous too rams etc) and they were using Seige Towers to storm the ramparts. I had my three cohorts on the walls to intercept, but my 150 men couldn't be everywhere at once, the enamy had 7 seige towers and I couldn't be at everyone of them. On the righthand walls I had two cohorts, they intercepted the 4 towers on the wall. Somhow, and I'll never understand how, the 100 men faught madly againts the superior forces and numbers. By the end of the short battle, the 30odd men were routing off the wall, having inflicteded over 300 casualties to the enamy. The other flank didn't do so well. The Britons swept my forces aside with heavy archer fire, not one man got off the wall, and had only killed 34 of the enamy. This is where my cavalry come in.

The enamy on the walls opened the gates for the remainder of the horde, the Warbands, who stormed the gates. My horsemen were placed on either side of the open gate, the Ballistats directly in front. The tightly packed men rushing through the gate were ripped open by the Ballistas, they lost 24 men right there, and the formation was in disarry. The surviving Urban Cohorts engaged the horde as it rushed through the gate, biding time until the full brunt of the Briton horde was through the gate. In one galant charge, my General and Preatorian horsemen charged from both sides. The barbarious Britons never knew what hit them. My cavalry did more then just kill 500 of the britons, they also forced the horde into a rout. As the routing troops flailed around, more troops routed, and, before long, 3/4 of the horde was fleeing the field. I pressed my troops forward and the rest of the army broke.

Just like that I destroyed the Britannian horde, the bulk of my army arived, and the crushed Britons were swept aside and, ta da, I won the most heroic battle I've fought to date.

I found quite a few of the Event Battles in Super Smash Bros. Melee to be pretty tough, actually. Sure, many of them were push-overs, and some even swayed away from being fun at all, but to compensate for that, you'd get the god-near impossible ones which literally took hours to get around. Defeating three "metals" was one of the hardest tasks I had ever undergone in my video gaming history. But then again there's the Double Hand, which fits into almost everybody's "hardest game task you've accomplished" book.
We have all had our tough spots in games that we thought we would never beat, but then the next thing you know, we beat it. So what was yours? For me is complete all 50 Missions in Guilty Gear xx. It was pretty tough. and beating Mike Tyson in Punch-Out!! And lastly finishing Alundra, those puzzles and jumping are frustratingly hair-trigger!
I have to agree on the Guilty Gear XX comment, but for me it is worse. In the Pal release the game had 100 missions instead of 50. I've only got 50 done.

aside from that, it is a brilliant game.

i'm not sure anyone's mentioned these yet, so i'll chuck them in (even though for me they were a cakewalk):

the american monsters

oi, I've recently been paying the Ratchet and Clank games because I finally got another PS2. While playing RandC 3, I began to reminisce about RandC 2. I remember what was probably the hardest game task Ive accomplished. Its in this one water filled level. You see, just beating the level took me a million brillion fufillion tries. I spent two hours on this stupid planet. Finally I reach a point where you have to use your hang glider to navigate the facility. WTF. I spent thirty minutes trying to beat something that only lasts 1 minute!
