April Fool's Day!

It's nice to have a day dedicated to people like me.

In the place that I come from, puling jokes on the first of April is like sleeping. You do it, everyone else does it though no-knows or cares why they're doing it. In a place that I moved to it is far less common and generally said that April?s fool has something to do with fish.

Where I lived April fool's day was (and probably still is) big enough for even respectable news sources to be 'in' on it. For one day a year, there are reports of scientists finding out that the earth is in fact flat, weather forecasts talk about how global warming is going to burn half the country tomorrow morning and newspapers have articles about how Easter holidays extended. I was really disappointed when the later was revealed to be a joke. 'Well, at least the school's gonna burn down from global warming and I wont have to go there then'- I thought.

At home I was unsuccessful in puling jokes myself. The biggest one was when I switched sugar and salt, and had my sister try some salted coffee. Most of the time I was a subject of practical jokes. One that I remember best is from my very, very, early childhood. My parents were gone on some business trip or something and I was left alone with my older sister. Sometime in the day when she got bored she started explaining to me how a lot of money could be made out of selling children. Then she announced that I in fact was going to be sold to some foreign couple who couldn't have kids of their own. I had my doubts yet somehow she convinced me that this was true. I remember making saying goodbye to the house, our dog our cat, having a last look at the scenery from my bedroom window and waiting for my new 'mommy' and 'daddy' to drive in to our front yard. Man, did I feel weird that day.

So before I go of to plan some sort of a, ten year late, counter attack against my sister I have a few questions to ask you. How big is April fools day where you live, lived or visited? Sometimes it just feels like I'm the last person to remember this day. What are the best practical joke you've pulled in celebration of this day? What tricks were pulled on you on April fool's day? April Fools Day isn't really to big here, its really unfortunate, cause I like it too, I've been playing jokes on my sister for years, my best was probably the one I played on my dad, hes one of those really up-tight always stressed kind of people, and I came in the house looking shaken and told him I was in a car accident and the car was totalled, his face turned completely red and he just started screaming at me, about 30 secs into his rave he noticed I was laughing at him, and I was grounded for a week, which was well worth the look on his face when I told him

the worst joke played on me was probably when I fell asleep at school, my friends got the bright idea to put make-up on me, so there I was, talking around the school in full-blown eye shadow, mascara, etc, I eventually noticed, after the whole school had their laugh, and went in the bathroom and washed it off :animeblus

It's not big here, but my family loves pulling pranks. The best one my sister and I ever pulled off was as school. We carefully removed the tops to cupcakes and put cotton balls in with the cream. We put them back together and took a whole bunch of them in to school and gave them to the teachers. :D One of them got revenge by telling my sister the next day that he took the cupcake home for lunch and gave it to his sick son and that he nearly choked to death. He was only kidding, but he got my sister really good with that story. :animesmil

I'm sad to say April Fool's Day isn't so highly celebrated where I live either. Infact most of my sister and father's pranks are pretty corny to the point where they weren't funny, and everyday is like a prank day for my family. I use to put salt in my dad's mint candies, salt is always a classic. I can't remember most of the pranks that were pulled on me but now that I have a new boyfriend I think this time I will be the one to finally dish out the dirt if you know what I mean. Muhahaha. Poor him.

That'll teach them damn pagans. :D

I don't even know why anyone celebrates this anymore, personally lol.

My family (the kids at least) play minor jokes. Mostly having to do with what people are eating, and not just salt either mind you. I would have to say that my cousin so far has had the funniest, she gave my uncle a glass of "water". He wasn't very pleased when he drank it and found out it was vinegar... well that is all I had to say! So if you will exscuse me.

::goes of to do stuff to the room she shares with her sister while said sister is asleep::

April Fool's not that big from where I am so I'm not used to it. One time, I was reading the school paper and was very interested in every news. One article said that the school found some gold under the soccer field that's why there's some digging going on. Another article said one section of the train near the school will be made exclusive for us, students.

I was so engrossed with all of it while my friends are watching me. After a few hours they told me it was all a joke. :animeswea

Because of the Holy Father's ill health today I hadn't even remembered that it was April Fool's. Usually there's just a few light hearted jokes done on the day, down around where I live, but today I don't know if there's been any. Most of the time people would just do stuff to people's drinks or food, one incident involved a marker and someone else's face last years, it's always just been kind of fun, rather than anything malicious.

Yeah, today IS April Fools day. :animestun I had no Idea...Well, it's never too big of a deal here, at least to most of the people I know. Besides ,the people who do celebreate it here treat it like 'cruel pranks day' and they annoy the crap out of people, calling it an April Fool's joke. :animesigh people can be such morons...Has that ever happened to someone else, or is it limited to where Im from? Well, whatever. Happy April Fools Day, everybody.

April Fool's Day is not a big holiday where I am from either. I've never been the victim of a prank, not have I ever conceived a prank. Until today...

There is a local radio station, and like most radio stations, they don't take themselves too seriously. (Thank God.) I was listening to a program today when two of the DJ's announced that they were engaged. I thought this was odd because I had never noticed anything abnormal about their interactions. However, that's just what I heard on the radio, and I don't tend to be very observant when it comes to stuff I hear while I'm driving.

I thought for a few minutes, "Gee that's really nice. They seem like nice people and I bet they have a lot of common..." Then I remembered that today was April Fool's Day. And who would announce their engagement on April Fool's Day? Even if they were serious, which I know their not, it would be an invitation to not be taken seriously.

This April Fools Day rocked!

normally, i would do nothing and it would basically be just another day, but this year we did a prank on one of my friends and it was sooo much fun! so now if you will care to listen ill share it with you right now...

So my friend was working at Pick N Slave and while he was we went and got an inflatable spiderman doll. We filled it up with air and dressed it up in clothes. we then proceeded to paint it red and cover it in dirt. Being the dumba-i mean- not-so-smart person that he is, he left his van open and we put it in the back seat.

After he saw this(and didnt know how it was) he called it the 'dirty jesus' since we put a tag on it that said 'i love jesus'. hilarity ensued.

There was a part two where we felt bad for the body thingy and took him out for ice cream, and then while he was gone some people would stay behind and then proceed to egg the car and then cover it in seran(no idea how to spell that) wrap. We didnt have the heart to do that part though and plus it was to late. ( we did have an egg fight with the leftover eggs...got some nasty marks from that...)

Anyways, I think every April Fools should have something like that, it was tons of fun! ^_^

Yesterday, my friend kept on going on and on about how the Pope isn't really dying and how the Vatican finally got a sense of humor and decided to pull the best prank since H. G. Wells.

Well... He was obviously wrong.

But April Fools came and went without me being the victim or the prankster this year. It's not huge around here, maybe that's why. I save most of my pranks for birthdays anyway.

I always enjoy the "official" pranks that some publications and websites pull. My favorite this year was, by far, Google Gulp.

I especially appreciated their privacy policy bit and the FAQ. This was a gem: "At any rate, you should be aware that by popping the seal on the twist-off Gulp cap, you send a wireless signal to Google's servers indicating your irrevocable acceptance of the Google Gulp Terms and Conditions, which do include the possibility, however remote, of hideous genetic mutation resulting from your consumption of this product. We're pretty sure you won't die, though."

It seems that Australia goes for all or nothing. The jokes pulled here are normally so large and believable that you always check the date and time (eg anything dated 1st april 0000 to 1200 hours is suspect) before believing anything. News sources, TV, radio, and most mediums get in on the act. In some cases several competing sources will get together for a rare prank on every one.

Most are funny and harmless, anything crude or painful I have noticed is shunned.

So all in all a good day that many ignore.

April Fool's Day was kind of gloomy for me, since someone I knew just passed away Tues (see my thread "Sudden Losses" for the full story). But yesterday, I found out about a certain April Fool's prank commited from beyond the grave. I know that sounds a bit far fetched, but there's no other way to explain it, plus it made us all feel better about his passing.

Friday, at my brother's (and my former) high school, every one had just gone inside for class when suddenly the power to the whole school (and no other buildings in the surrounding area) went out. The cause: a telephone poll had snapped in half, causing a transformer to blow. No one was hurt and only one car was barely scratched.

Now, this poll, to everyone's knoledge, was a structurally sound one and the weather was fairly nice. And the break show that it wasn't cut, by natural means.

The real cause: his spirit (or ghost) figured all his friends needed a day off, so it being April Fool's Day, he knock down the same phone poll he had jokingly punched in life. :animesmil

April fools day wasn't big here either.

Some girl got shot near Jamaica high school, probably for something stupid. I thought that was the end of it, but a week later (today) there was a gang riot in a park near the schoolsJamaica and Edison. Me, being bored and unimpressed, decided to walk through it. There was one april fools joke...

Some guy faked pissing on himself on the bus, and pleaded that he didn't even though there was wat stains all oner himself. There was a water bottle nearby, and the fact that I'd seen him pour it on himself. That was a good one, I guess.
