The clashing of swords rang throughout the clearing as each member of the class practiced parrying and offensive manevours with each other. The enemy: The classmate. The REAL enemy: The instructor - distributor of grades.
Occasional bolts of magic flew over the heads of the melee class as one of the students accidentally lost control of their power. After giving the student a quick whsp on the head, the mage waved his hand and cancelled the spell.
And of course, there was the [i]thud. Thud thud thud thud thud[/i] of arrows as they rained upon their targets: Various straw dummies with obvious red bullseyes on them. They were nothing more than grass pin cushions for the arrows that pierced their forms.
The classes ranged from seven to twenty. The student's ages ranged from as young as fifteen to as old as twenty-one - although there were very few that old. Those were the ones that had failed more than once. Instructors were young and old alike, both men and women, each sharply skilled in their area of teaching.
The Guild of Beginngs is set on an island that is nestled peacefully between two branches of a great river that ran to the north and to the south. The area surrounding the school is to one side dense green forests of great grandfatherly trees that towered to extraordinary heights, and to the other side wide open hilled grasslands, that stretches in emerald green waves towards the horizon. Many seek shelter in this island haven, and others come in search of knowledge and wisdom. Many things are taught at the Guild of Beginnings, but all of these teachings centered around the need for unity and the hope for peace, and though many people do come, only a few ever leave ::cackle::....Nah, just screwin with ya!
But anyways, you have come here seeking training as a student, to learn the arts of sword, bow, magic and books. In your last year you will persue the skills that will best suit you in your future career.

Personality: Most of the time she is quiet but once you get to know her she's really nice. She is a caring and curious person. She can act like a baby but she is a strong person. She's a quite an interesting person because it's like you don't know what's going to happen next to her.

How You Came to the Guild: Her parents became a bit worried about her not making friends since she was so quiet. So they decided to take her to the guild so she can make friends and learn there. Her brothers also go there and so she's okay with that as well.

Name: Lyaeve (Pronounced Lie-eve)

Age: 17

Gender: Female

Appearance: Lyaeve stands at five feet five inches, but her strong personality and will can make her seem taller. Of course, any woman could do that if she tried. Her hair is a lusterous chestnut red colour (yeah...that's probably hard to picture...umm, it's like a dark brown that is more red than brown, but not totally red...kinda like[COLOR=Sienna]that[/COLOR], but darker and with a bit more red...) with remarkable light brown higlights winding their way through it, and it tumbled in slight waves down to about her mid back. She mostly wears her hair up in a pony-tail or a bun, but she will sometimes be seen wearing it down. Her figure is that of a woman her age, with curves and all. It is true that she can be said to have maybe a little more curves than most women, those of which she had often noticed men admiring, and usually she had left those men with possibly a few less brain cells and a few more bruises and broken bones than they had had when they had looked. With eyes of a stunning green colour that looked to have been stolen from the brightest emeralds themselves, she can often be a bit intimidating at first. Her eyes are probably her best feature, because they can show each bit of emotion she is feeling, or they can hide everything. She has small hands and feet, and is usually garbed in a casual outfit of a sleeve-less, high-collared top that split down the front in a slim V and a loose skirt that fell past her ankles in either a lavender or violet color or a shade of green. A silver belt can usually be found around her waist, and her preferred shoe is a brown soft knee-high lace up boot.

Personality: Lyaeve is a calm person with a bright, outgoing personality. She can be shy around guys, but she is talkitive and usually laughing around her friends. She usually tries to keep an optimistic outlook on things and tries to see the good in even her enemies. She is in very strong favor of kindness to animals and to the environment, and loves to gaze out at the stars. She is almost always smiling and she is kind and caring to everyone. Of course, Lyaeve can have a dark side to her that, though rarely ever seen, still resides inside her, and she can have a nasty temper when someone does something bad enough to anger her. She often will go out by herself just to be alone and think, and some days she will just be weirdly sad. Now don't go worrying yourselves! She's not depressed, she always gets better! :)

Area of Strenght: Lyaeve's best area is that of Magic. She is one of the Top of her class, and finds magic the easiest thing to deal with in her life. She is also a good hand with the Bow, but her real place to shine is when magic comes into play.

How she came to be at the Guild: Lyaeve was cast away from her family at an early age, for her village and her parents feared the magic that was blossoming inside her. It was evident that she was different, and they couldn't accept that, so they basically kicked her out. She was brought to the Guild many years later by a man whose name she doesn't know, but she has lived her ever since.

[b]Personality:[/b] She almost has alter-ego. Her first side is quiet and rather anti-social, but this is the one she uses around people who don't know her. But her friends know Cade as a loud, brash, crafty person. Luckily, both of her egos are intelligent. Cade is extremely proud and hates admitting her mistakes. She gets ticked at people who like to point out her errors time and time again.
[b]Area of Strength:[/b] Quite possibly the best sword fighter the Guild has seen, whether male or female. She takes her melee stuides seriously and sees no room for imcompetence or error.
Cade is somewhat good at her magic, which is surprising, since most melee fighters find magic a burden. Bottom line is, she's horrible with a bow, since she doesn't have the patience for aiming and constantly re-loading.
[b]Aura Color: [/b] A rich cerulean with silver as the highlights. Pretty. :3

[b]Came to the Guild:[/b] Cade was often teased in her village about her preference of boys-over-girls stuff. The village women were somewhat disgusted by this girl dressing in breeches and blouses over dresses, and, at one point, her mother threatened to chop off Cade's right arm (her favored arm) so she couldn't practice swords anymore. One night, she decided enough was enough, and ditched the town at only twelve. She ended up staying at the Guild until she was old enough to train there.
After a six year hiatus, Caede's sword skills were rather rusted, so she had virtually no advantage over anyone else.

He wears dark clothing, often excessively baggy. His right arm, which he uses his sword with, he protects with a metal sheath, while his left he protects with a studded leather gauntlet. A pouch at his side carries magical ingredients while a long sheath is slung across his back. Wow, he's like a medieval goth!
[b]Personality:[/b] Most of the time Jode is happy and outgoing and laughs with his friends. However, he'll occasionally be gripped by a mood swing and fall into a deep depression. His friends have learned to avoid him when that happens.
[b]Area of Strength:[/b] His main focus at the Guild of Beginnings is swords. He is quite deadly with a bastard sword, his preferred weapon. He isn't good at combat magic spells, but his secondary focus is witchcraft, which is why he needs the pouch, because you never know when you're gonna need a healing spell. He has no ability whatsoever with bows. If he picks one up, it's probably going to end in disaster.

Personallity: As i said considers himself a ladies man but seldom turns out to be. Doesn't take anything seriously (including himself). But is loyal and always comes through in the end. Even though he is self centred amd very very tiresome at times.

Weapon: Daggers. When he was young before his dad left and never came back. He left him a vest made of shimmering blue and white. in the many pockets are different daggers each with a story behind them. He can bind magic to these daggers, throw them and recieve them in a blink of an eye.

How He came: Ran away from home. His mother was to smothering and wanted him to find a nice girl and settle down. like thats ever going to happen. ;)

Having left his parents' village at the age of 16 to go wandering / adventuring, Kojiroh quickly came to realize that he was too inexperienced to be wandering the land alone. Ahem...back to business.

Appearance: Since I couldn't find any good pictures you will just have to use that imangination of yours...trust me, it is stored somewhere up there....
Joel has light brown hair which, despite him keeping it short, seems to have a mind of its own going in every which direction. He has a handsome face with light brown almost golden eyes, he kind of creeps people out when he stares...His body type would have to be described as lithe, muscular and nicely tanned. He usually wears a sleeveless tunic (dark green perferably) with a leather strap going diagonally across his chest, this holds his quiver of arrows. His preferred pants are baggy but his favorite are a baggy black pair that tie around his ankles at the bottom to have a ballooned effect. Around his left forearm he has some leather armor to protect his wrist should he mess up with his archery. And to top it all off he wears a pair of simple and soft leather open-toed sandles.

Personality: Joel is the strong and silent type who prefer to listen than to speak. He becomes good friends with everyone he meets young and old, because of his caring and down-to-earth demeanor. Loyal and honest; people know exactly where he stands on every issue, he also has a quick wit and great sense of humor. But despite this he can very mysterious to those around him because he keeps everything about himself to himself and is very cautious about what he reveals to people, afraid to be hurt. Becuase of this he comes across as being shy, which he can be, especially around girls.

Area of Strength: Joel is just plain scarey with a bow and arrow, he has excellent eyesight and deadly aim to go with it. When he shoots, he enters a level of concetration and focus that all archers aspire toreach. It is just hard to get him out off it...except when it's time to eat, of course! ^.~
Joel's second area of focus is fighting and any kind of fighting at that, he doesn't really excell at one thing or the other like others tend to do. So he compensates by learning how to fight with everything, from hands to swords. Though he is a little dangerous when he uses twin daggers. >.>;

Aura Color: Let's just say magic is Joel's one weakness...if he tried very hard maybe he could heal a papercut...just maybe o_O;;;

Weight: around 140..like I said lithe and muscular.

How You Came to the Guild: Joel was born second in a set of twins from an immensely rich family. Being second, Joel was the less favored, but he doesn't remember much from his time spent there because his parents, anticipating a fued over the inheritance, sent him to an orphanage in a neighboring country when he was seven. At the orphanage he was mistreated, abused, and made to work to raise money for his food at the orphanage. Finally when he was twleve he was adopted by a fisherman who needed help with his business.
Living with the fisherman, Bran, wasn't any better than at the orphanage, so after two years Joel finally managed to gather enough money and courage to runaway. Hearing about the peaceful island from some merchants Joel decided to go there, where he soon joined the Guild of Beginnings at age fifteen. So far no one has been able to get much about his past out of him, because whenever he talks about it he sort of fades out and gets a faraway look in his eyes. (poor joel)

Gender: Male

Appearance: White undershirt with a leather jerkin over it. Brown pants, and heavy boots. Has leather gloves and simple unadorned belt. Cairn has slightly paler skin than most people, leaf green eyes, and very short bed-head blonde hair. Over all this, he wears a deep green hooded cloak that's held together with a golden sun shaped brooch.

Personality: Prefers to be called by his last name, Cairn rarely speaks without being spoken to. He's very open to anyone, and he can even recall painful memories if asked. He can be a deep thinker, and likes to observe until he puts forth his opinion. Cairn isn't a competitive person, but likes sportsmanship. Very patient, some people mistake him for being wise beyond his years.
Surprisingly, he gets along better with girls than boys, because he didn't have any brothers and he spent most of his time either hunting with his father or cleaning at home :animestun .

Weapons: Cairn grew up hunting, so he uses a bow first and a sword second. He stays away from magic, because his village regarded it as a heretical practice.

How he came to the Guild: Reodin came from a simple village where people went through their day to day lives in ease. He grew up in one of the hunting families, and his father had attended the Guild as a boy himself. There's no mystery here, or a sad story. His parents sent him to the Guild to train to be a better hunter like all his forefathers. He deems this an honor.
