Bloodseeker
... and suddenly you get tired, your brain shuts down, and you lose your ability to say what you're trying to say effectively? That happens to me far too often. Just a few minutes ago I was trying to give a detailed point as to why HHH shouldn't be allowed to stay in the main event scene 365 days out of the year and my brain suddenly shut down and wouldn't reboot until I clicked the back button and left the place. This happens to me far more often than it should. Like the last time that I tried to write my rant on internerds (the bad type... you'll probably see it in the near future), the time that I was complaining about how black teens present themselves to the community and then wonder about prejudice, the time not too long ago when I was trying to write a review for NGE, and far too many other occassions to count. This ticks me off with all forms of writing, but its especially bad with forum posts. With word document material, you can save the thing, eat dinner, watch TV, play videogames, maybe even sleep, and get back to the thing later. With forum posts, its both unreasonable and unsafe (viruses etc) to leave the unfinished post on the screen until your brain has had time to recuperate enough to continue typing effectively. Imp
That would definitely be frustrating, especially since in some cases, if you don't post a reply in a long time, you can't post the reply... But one remedy for that when it happens is to copy and paste what you wrote already into some program like Notepad or Word, then save it, then post it later. But what's even more frustrating than that is something that can't be cured that way. What has happened to me many times in the past is when I posted a long post, and before I'm done typing the post, the computer crashes and I lose what I was going to write. Or, when I do post a long post, the computer has a problem sending the information, which I never get back. When that happens, it's very frustrating, and I have to remember what I posted and take it from there. (And then it usually doesn't sound as good if it was a part of a story...) And I'm sure this has happened to other people as well...

Then, the token XP error will pop up saying "we're sorry, but InternetExplorer has experienced an unkown error, and will now need to close. Please save any data, and restart the program". I also love how it's a pointless DLL that crashes the script. It's usually a mostly-empty library that only deals with automatically downloading offline web-pages.
Kamuro
ahh, thats terrible, its even worse when your working on a character or something for the Arena, and your half-way done and your brain just dies, then your sitting there with half a character, its terrible
Gavin
Oh I used to have that problem the whole time with Windows 98, hasn't happened to me so far with my new XP PC, but it seems to just love saying it needs to shut down when I'm playing KOTOR or KOTOR 2. That said I have had stages when I cannot for the life on my post what I want to say, although that either goes down to writers block or a simple case that I really don't know what it is that I want to say. However after a spell off OB of about a month or more as I had after Christmas, I found it exceptionally hard to get back into the swing of things. It usually takes a few weeks to get back into posting shape, which is why I try to avoid leaving OB for long spells at all costs.
Panda
Writing problems...bah! Computer problems: I have had very long emails go off into oblivion when my computer has frozen up. Nothing like writing a nice email to a friend only to have it totally disappear. The other being problems like with a program to have it freeze up and not be able to save it. That is probably the worst. I was always afraid of this happening in college while writing papers that I was probably a bit "save" happy when it came to writing papers. Brain problems: This is probably worse than computer problems. At least with computer problems you know what you wrote out and you could just re-write things. When you don't have anything to write due to writer's block that isn't good. Currently I am suffering from some writer's block which is why I am here on the message boards responding to threads instead of working. I am hoping being able to write about ANYTHING will help me get back on track with the writing I need to get done. Hmm, I think I am ready to get back to work now. The OB cures writer's block! SunfallE
What drives me batty is when I respond to a post and when I get done and press submit, I find that I've been logged off. The first few times I lost the post I had just so carefully done. It's really annoying if it's a long well thought out answer. Now I just make sure I copy and paste into a word document first so I don't have to re-think out my answer when that happens. As for my computer crashing, well truthfully that rarely happens since I switched from windows 98 to XP professional. In fact I think it happened once and it was due to a new program I installed. Once I removed it, it hasn't happened again *yet* :animeswea As for the brain freeze, that happens to many times for me to count! :animecry: It's espically annoying when you have a general idea of what you want to say, but you just can't seem to think of how to start the response. I've spent way too much time sitting there stuck on the first sentance.
JT Darkfire
Yeah, I know exactly what you guys mean. But you know what's the worst? When you actually finish the post, submit it, realize you totally screwed up and forgot to put down your main point, and you have to submit a new post, making you look like a total idiot who just loves the attention.Yep, that happens a lot. But hey, I guess it can't be too bad, its just a little irritating, that's all :animeangr .
