Radical Ed
Not sure if people have written about this before, but I'm getting ticked at my Xenosaga game (First game). The problems are over my head so to speak and you guys sound more.....how do I say it? Smarter than I am at Video Games. Let me start off with the info: My PS2 is only around 1 1/2 years old. All of my games work except Xenosaga. At first it was just fine, but then it would take a long time loading after six or seven battles .After leaving it alone a while to cool down I put it back in and now it said DISC READ ERROR. Which is not cool. My Dad and I take it back and get another copy of it, but that one says DISC READ ERROR too! My sister, being better at video games than I am, said it might not work since the graphic design is so detailed and is overloading the PS2. But my sis has beaten the whole game before with a rented one before we owned the game. If anyone can tell me whats wrong can you please help. It's driving me nuts not knowing what to do. My Dad will return it and never get it again soon, so he says, so the sooner you put up some words of wisdom, the better. It'll at least give me a clearer picture of what's wrong. Thanks for taking time to read this.
Semjaza
Your other games that work... are they CDs or DVDs? If they're all CDs, your laser might be having issues reading DVDs. In that case, you can call Sony and they'll fix it for free. You should get it back within a week or two with a new warranty. If your other working games are all CDs and DVDs... then I'm not sure. I remember reading that Xenosaga had more layers on its DVD than other PS2 games. Maybe it is a laser related problem with that as well.
Kamuro
I don't think its the actual Xenosaga disc, its probably your PS2, even after only 1 1/2 years of play, depending how you treated it it can have mad dust problems. I've run into them myself while playing games like Star Ocean 3, I actually just blew on the open slots on the front and back of my PS2 and the game ran better lol. Sounds simple, but it worked for me, and as Generic said, Xenosaga is a bit more layered then other games, so if there was a ever a game your PS2 would have a problem with, it would be one like this. Radical Ed
Oh so it might be a laser problem? Crackers...-_- I'll try and see if my folks will even TRY the sending in idea.....But I'll try your "blowing on the open slots" idea and your right my PS2 has mad dust probs. Thanks for the info, both of you's! :D That makes me a little better and yeah I do put in CD's but not really. Just only 3 times have I ever used my PS2 for a CD player. The back of the DVDs are either silver or gold. The PS2 utilizes two different lasers; one is for DVDs and the other is for CDs. If the CD games are working and the DVD games are not, it's definitely a laser issue. There's a variety of work arounds for that, but I personally just send mine off to Sony (it's free). Mine Lol....mine stopped reading the normal Ps2 and Ps formatted discs...the remedy Sony gave me...Put some tape on the disc to give the rom a better grip they had said the newer drives where having problems finding enough friction. :animesmil
2010DigitalBoy
man, I wish i had known that before I had gotten rid of my DVD defective PS2. I always wondered why I could only play my older games like I Ninja and Jak and Daxter, but not Rachet and Clank 3. Unfortuanetally, I couldnt send it in because some idiot ripped off the warranty. You may wanna check to see if youre warranty sticker is still there. Otherwise you can only sell your PS2 for 25-30 bucks! Anyway, I dont really like Xenosaga.
