PWNED
Seeing that before the start of the first race, I thought, "Hey, this guy must be pretty good." Wrong; he sucked ***. Which makes me think the only way he could've gotten a record like that is through lots of disconnecting, which doesn't affect your record in any way.
That's the problem these days. A lot of Game Players will have a tendency to be arrogant and will not accept being beaten and stop it by any means nessercary. Now I know that this is a very biased view of mine and may apply to a minority but unfortunatly it is very true. I know that I will prevent losing by anyway possible except exiting the game because; It may be inevitable that I will lose but I will also accept it for what it means. That I need to practice to get better is how I'll treat it. But I also find that I myself have a sense of honour, I won't do anything overly harsh like scamming someone or turning on my teammates even though I will use low-ish tactics to get my way in a game but I don't stoop low enough to take advantage of a N00B or anything. Thing is, The person that Debresko used as an example of a classic wanker. It pisses me off to say this but people have a distinct lack of morals when a Win-Lose streak is involved with the situation. Al-araaf
I play Halo 2 alot. And I will admit its a little pathetic to ba a "master" at it. It's basicly saying you have no life. And I guess I could be considered average since my level is in the 20's rather than 50's or so. And I usualy get stuck with n00bs, and it does get a little annoying. And I hate the people who betray, I may not care about winning but I would still like to have fun playing by the rules. And the de-levelers. The idiots who betray, and find other ways to keep you from have a succesful match. Just because they wasted most of their life getting to level 50 and cant find people to play against they de-level. Alot of people on console games are definetly the biggest douche bags you'll ever meet. On World of Warcraft the people are usualy nice. But a similur game called Runescape has ALOT of douche bags. All the "high levels" mess with the poor low levels. Again I consider it sad to be a master at it. But i'm a semi high level and I help and stand up for the "n00bs" no matter how annoying I find them. Because I remember how it was to be a n00b. And the people who make fun of them are hypocrites and didnt like to get made fun of and I HATE hypocrites.
Lord Rannos
I actually had a good experience playing Final Fantasy 11 over at my brother's house. Everyone there was fairly friendly, and it just knida felt like an open community. Things like some random healer casting cure2 on me when I was hurting. Or tossing me a linkshell (Or whatever you call those...been a little while). Seemed pretty nice. I'm ashamed to say that I actually know one of those douches on Runescape. He's kind of at the top level and has more crap than he can carry, so he amuses himself by joining up with people then killing them... :( So watch out for someone named...I think it's Tyren.
nomad19
it really depends on the games, when you're in an rpg, alot of people are actually nice like in FFXI, ragnarok online, guildwars, WoW... all the degrading and trash talking coems from the other ones especially shooters, it's like i was playing socom 3 the other day this 14 year old was trash talking this other dude...it's sick...and sad... you play socom, halo or even sports games, you see and hear alot of trash talk, it's like a warm welcome... :animedepr so in conclusion to my post we havent lost our online morals it all depends on the game... celoctopus
ya'll ( forgive my louisiana accent, it even shows in my writing!) talk about " losing online morals" but i refuse to believe we ever had them. since the dawn of time there have always been people who cheat, lie, or steal. whenever there's something new it's just fodder for hackers and scammers. not saying i condone this or saying we should be some kind of vigilantes i'm just bein realistic. it's human nature to want to one up people and make yourself feel good by beating something, anything as long as you're above them. this isn't loss of online morals, it's loss of all morals. we live in a culture that equates kindness with weakness. it translates everywhere, not just on some servers. Desbreko
That's a good point. The lack of basic courtesy from a lot of people isn't just limited to the online realm. But I think it is a little more prevalent there. After all, it's a lot easier to be a jackass without consequences over the internet than in person.
