Minako
I did a search here on OB and found that there isn't a thread like this..soo... Ok, let's get straight to the point. When I was small, I always dreamed of being a singer (I guess I still do..), and now that I'm older I know that it may never happen. After a while, my dream of becoming a Sailor Scout died out. :animeswea I was wondering if anyone has had any childhood dreams. Have you given up on them? Do you still have your childhood dreams? Why or why not? There are still many dreams I had as a child (I had an active imagination) that I haven't put up here, but I'm curious to find out what you all think.
Kamuro
of course, everyone has had childhood dreams, I don't think I've met someone whos actually achieved one of those dreams but still, when I was younger I wanted to be a Vet, I loved animals, and figured why not? then I wanted to be the classic "fire-fighter", but now, I'm really interested in being a musician, they always change, but dreams are important and keep children innocent as well as give them something to work for
Guest SailorMelina
Ah.Childhood dreams...I've always dreamed that I would have a "prince",a big job as a movie star, and 2 kids.Number one hasn't been realized yet...I'm still working on finding a prince. So far...I've found a could be prince. As for a job as a movie star,I decided that I didn't want to be a movie star.First of all, there's no privacy and everyone is always talking about your dating life. And then of course there's the fact that movie star's love lives and marriages almost never work out.As for having kids,I'm not even going to think about that until I'm out of college.Besides, the only reason why I'm having trouble finding my true love is because my mom says "No boyfriends until you're out of college!'' So none of my dreams have been realized actually.Oh well.I'll live with it.
Ailes de Velour
When I was a child-child, I wanted to be a firefighter, a ballerina, and a baby Native-American princess (which is impossible, because I'm not Native American and I can't be a baby again o_O). My sisters wanted to be the same things. Then I started to gain common sense, and I started wanting to be an artist. I'm still a kid, though, so I'm still dreaming, but my dreams are actually molding into something that could actually be. I think my main supporter in the future will be writing, I'll do some anime and manga under an alias, and I'm in two bands right now (Pandora in a Box is symphonic metal/gothic, Letters of Marque is...emo, supposedly). I have many aspirations, but I'm hardly ambitious in the least. I've been writing one story for over three months now, and it has at least 105 handwritten pages (the first fifty-eight are on wide ruled and the rest are college). Geez, whenever I'm a little rowdy in history, my teacher asks me, "How many pages?"
Retribution
Ahh... dreams. Wonderful things. - Being an Astronaut was my biggest dream of all. - Being a Prince from one of those Disney movies, and my princess being my favorite "girl-friend" at the time (yes, I was like... 5). Aladdin was my favorite out of all of them. - Being like Jet Lee/Bruce Lee was another dream of mine after taking karate for three years. Funny. Gotta love those wistful, innocent dreams when little things were on my mind. Heh.
future girl
My ultimate childhood career goal was secret assasin/spy. I watched La Femme Nikita at an early age and was enthralled at the idea of shooting people for money, life on the run, risk risk risk. I eventually gave up on that dream and now I want to be a writer. What a boring progression :(
drive_monster
This might seem lame to some people, but I'm not giving up on this dream until the end! (corniness) I want to build a Gundam and pilot it. I'm part of my school's robotics team, and one of the reasons I want to learn Japanese is so I can go to Tokyo University and study robotics there. I'm gonna give this one my all, heh
Missa
My childhood dream: to be an animator. Didn't persue it. Why? Well, while I wanted to be an animator, I could never force myself to take it too seriously. I should have drawn every day, I should have taken more art classes...But I didn't. I have too many hobbies to devote a significant amount of time to just one, every day. Plus, I have a short attention span. I pay attention for a while, then I lose interest, I put it down, and then pick it up back later. I didn't take many art classes because I was homeschooled through most of middle school and high school. And my parents simply didn't have the money to pay for extra curricular activities. When I started college, I took Drawing I, and that was it. Mainly because the school was small and didn't offer more than that. And money was still an issue... There was also the fact that I grew up being told that their was no career in the art field. I'd end up a starving artist or something like that. Now, since I'm an adult, things like good pay, benefits, job security, and expanding fields is...pretty darn important. Instead of becoming an animator, I'm now pursuing a career in the medical field. The last reason...Well, I don't live in Japan. And I would have been willing to work for Disney, if Walt was still alive. But since he died, American animation just hasn't been the same. The magic is gone. Now, the television industry only produces animated crap...There are a few exceptions, but as a whole, I am thoroughly disappointed. (Which probably has a lot to do with why I am an anime fan. Had to get my cartoon fix somewhere else, right? Either that or grow up...Erm...) And so...Drawing has become a hobby. Something that I do sometimes, just for fun. I consider myself a mere amatuer... bimbo69
When I was little I wanted to be a Policewomen, then I wanted to be a Firefighter. When I got to about 8/9 I wanted to be a Doctor, I wanted to become one because I really like biology and also I would be doing a decent helpful job. I still would love to be a Doctor but I know that I never would be able to, this is because to be a Dr you need very high grades which I will never get. Now I am aiming to become a Nurse, hopefully it will work out. :)
KittyLynn
Well I can't account for much, because when I was little my dream was to be a swing set or the sun. Aside from those weird dreams, I always wanted to become an important person, and I always wanted to do something with animals. Now I'm aiming and trying so very hard to become a veterinarian. But if I do say so myself, my dream to become the sun was a beautiful one =). - Kitto
Charon
Well, as I child, I always wanted to do something creative: art, animation, design. Now I've set my sights on the same creativity, but in a more musical direction. I've always wanted to be rich and famous, though. That part hasn't changed. I also have a desire to own and run a coffee shop. I hate coffee though. I just like idea of having a coffee shop. What's not to love? Besides coffee? Gavin
I think you never really grow out of some dreams, especially those about a profession. I remember I wanted to be a Fire-Fighter back when I was only about four years of age, and now any time I watch Rescue Me on TV it sends a kind of nostalgic tingle down my spine. Other than being a fire-fighter, a few more come to mind, back when I was young: Astronuat: This was a big one, because I was a huge fan of looking at the stars and documentaries on space. Stuff like Star Trek and Star Wars never really influenced that, I wanted to actually be there in the suit on the moon like Armstrong, being able to look down on Earth. Doctor: Still a profession I'd like to take a crack at, when I was smaller I always had an interest in being a doctor because of the whole saving lives and being a hero. As I'm older I'd like to have a go at it because I'm quite good at biology and chemistry, and because Medicine was something I quite enjoyed when doing Work Experience. Lawyer: Another profession that most young boys want, I was a great believer in right and wrong and this was a natural evolution in terms of a future career. This is another career I'd consider entering if I got the point in my Leaving Cert, because I still hold that theory of right and wrong and because I'm told I can present my side of an argument well. Money's not half bad either. Priest: One that struck me when I was about 11, I wanted to be a priest after learning that most of the priests in the Irish diocese were older men. I felt that it was a kind of extension of my faith, and to give something back to God for all he'd done for me.
Anne
I had so many childhood dreams, it's not even funny. The reason why is that soemone would tell me I couldn't do it because I was female or to sickly. I gave up easly to, though some of them I still want to do. Astronuat: Like a couple of other people I have seen post I wanted to be one, too. I love to study the night sky and I had charts and maps all around my room. Even know I still look up at the night sky and just stare at it for hours. Dancer: All the time I would watch ballets, modern, jazz, tap, ect. on the television set and think how lovely and graceful they look. I want to be like them and make dancing my carrer. I never could though no dancing school w ould except me because they said I was to sick. I still would love to dance on stage one day and sometimes late at night my neighbors see me dancing out in my yard. Teacher: This one did not last long. Though I would love to teach I have a much dislike for children. So that would not work out to much. Lawyer: This one I really wnated to be. I use to read my Uncle's law books all the time. Than I would hold trials with my dolls. I know I owuld have never of made a good lawyer because I am so honest. President: When I was like sixor seven i wanted to be the first female president. I am not sure why I really wanted to, but I did. For like two years this was my dream job. Voice actress: I was always told what a cute voice I had and it was so nice. So I figured why not make a carrer out of it and become a voice actress. When I started to getting into anime even more heavly it seem like an even greater idea. I could do the voices of some of my favourite characters. Though this job is still in the back of my mind I don't think I will ever get around going to a try out.
