Legato beats Vicious by a mile. And a half. All Vicious did was beat up Spike a lot. Legato played the psychological game, and consequently screwed Vash over so badly he almost didn't recover. Plus, most of the time Vicious was just reacting to Spike's unexpected presence or the fact that Spike was attacking him. Legato planned ahead: he had his objective in mind from his very first appearance in Trigun. Legato wins hands down.

For one thing... Where's the Knives?!

I voted Legato Bluesummers because he is an extremely cold, twisted, complex, and ruthless villain. He does everything in his power to spite, slow down, and torment Vash and everyone involved with him. He not only kills ruthlessly, but with a cause, which shows his complexity. He kills the guilty on spot, but has decided to post-pone the death of the innocent. Aswell, he kills his own allies, executing, or ordering the execution of all the Gung Ho Guns who fail. Legato isn't the master mind behind anything, but really a lacky himself of Knives, who is actually the ultimate villain in the show.

I prefer the manga version of Legato more than the anime, mainly because he makes a guy rip his own heart out, and he also is eventually
horribly mangled by Knives, and continues following him.
Their is evidently something very wrong with his psyche, and psychos make great bad guys.

I would have voted for Scar, but he's actually not a villain, but more of an antagonist.

First off, If you wanted Knives on the list...then you should've voted for him back in the nominations thread (which is now closed). Though I think he's a great villain as well, no one voted for him, therefore no Knives.

Second, Scar is more of an antagonist but he's a pretty crazy antagonist...and he
blows a piece off Al. That's an impressive feat so he gets to be a villain.
A note to all--you can vote without posting. In fact, please don't post just for the sake of announcing who you voted for. Explaining your reasoning is, of course, quite welcome.

Legato doesn't need any help from me, so I voted for Kuroro. He's right up there with the best of them, in terms of being calm and devious, but he just doesn't get enough recognition. I would have gone for Seishirou, but his evilness is a bit less... methodical. I feel like I've got to award Kuroro points for being incredibly organized.

EDIT: Legato is losing to Vicious? Now that's just not cool. Hmm, maybe I should have voted for him after all. :animestun

Well, their were alot of crazy things going on in that show. Like dudes surrounding themselves with gigantic gun turrets, or creating bombs out of the air. I mean, Scar is a pretty bad-a** dude, but he's not evil, he's just has a strong caused mission that he means to accomplish by any force necessary.

I wasn't around for the other thread, so I didn't get a chance.

But back to Scar, he's the
last few of his race. And the massacre of his race was committed by state Alchemists, so he does have a just reason for his vendetta to accomplish. And he's basically okay with Ed anyways, as of now.
Soo... that seems to disqualify him.

You bring up a lot of good points but I think that, even though he has just causes, he's still pretty ruthless and whatnot. At least he's more of a villain than Sesshomaru...I mean, he is only ever a rival at a point...
and he has never been a major antagonist ever since he met Rin.
I don't care how cool he may be. XD

Plus, since no one really complained in the old thread...I just used my best judgement. :animeswea

sorry dagger, well, there was reasoning behind voting for Orochimaru, I love Naruto, and besides Kakashi, Orochimaru is my favorite character, anyway, it looks like a race between Legato and Vicious however, so I'm rooting for Legato.

In terms of the Lagato vs. Knives thing here, yes it is true that Lagato was just another henchman of Knives, but in terms of villainous people, given the choice i would vote Lagato over Knives.

This is because Knives, despite being Lagato's better, he is nothing more than an equal to Vash. Aside from being evil, Knives is absolutely no different from Vash. Lagato on the other hand is much more unique. Not only that, but my main point is the fact that even though
Vash did end up killing Lagato, i believe it is arguable that Lagato was the only person to actually "beat" Vash. Lagato, with his unique mind controlling ability, forced Vash to kill, which is so against Vash's morals that it threw Vash in a completely reclusive state, questioning himself and his morals. Lagato had tormented Vash to such an extreme he wasn't able to do anything afterwards for a long time. He didn't even try to defend himself, or run away when people were about to kill him, since Vash thought that he did deserve to die for killing (Lagato). (That kind of torment kind of reminds me of the movie Saw.) The fight with Knives, on the other hand, hardly affected Vash at all (he was able to walk all the way back to the town on his own, and seemed not to have any particular brain damage).
Well, thats why i think Lagato is much better than Knives, regardless of if Knives were a part of this contest.

As for the manga/anime differences,
Lagato also forced the man in the bar to rip his heart out in the anime, it just wasn't as graphically represented in the anime as it was in the manga
. However i do agree with you, ReFlux, that Lagato was much better in the manga than the anime, simply because he is much more violent and emotional in the manga than he is in the anime.

In this poll, i had voted for Vicious, but now that i think of it, i really wish that i had voted for Lagato...

As you may know then, at one point in the manga, Knives actually causes
Legato to collapse into himself (broken bones of everykind) just for saying "Attack!".
Also, lets not forget the sadistic stuff Knives pulled while still on the SEEDS ship.
I mean, he master minded a plan to get a guy not only to kill a man who was bullying Knives and Vash, but also kill his own girlfreind in cold blood. And he almost go the guy to kill Rem.
And then, even though Legato did get Vash
to kill him (that sounds a bit strange coming out), Knives was the man who actually got Legato into such a state of servitude to actually seek his own death.
Legato is just insane, and because of this, does whatever he is told to do by Knives, Knives is not only perfectly sane, but he is genuinly evil, something, I'm sure, Legato was not, seeing as how he saw following Knives' orders as more of a relegious duty than an act committed by himself.

Thats just my opinion...
