Dragonboym2
A freind of mine dosn't have a gaming system. Her names Kristin, but everyone calls her Kris. Kris tells me that because of her money problems, she can't get a PS2, a Gamecube, or an X-Box. So being the guy I am, I was thinking of getting her a used PS2, and maybe a couple games. I'm not sure where to get a good deal on a used PS2, though. As for games, maybe two or three. What do you guys think? Where can I get a good deal? And what games do you recomend? Thanks. boxybrown305
Wow, you are a nice guy. Perhaps your expecting something extra in return *wink, wink, nudge nudge. I find that ebay can be quite good for cheap, used things. You just have to be very aware of what your buying, how much it costs (always check shipping), and never buy something that doesnt have a picture. Otherwise Gamestop is a very reliable source for used games/systems, plus a convenient return policy. I bought my X-Box and a number of games from them used with almost no problems (only once a game didnt work, but it was easily returned). As for what games, that depends on what kind of person she is. If she likes random, funny things, i very highly recommend Katamari Damacy. I love that game, so you really cant go wrong there. Otherwise it would depend on if she wants a game she can just pick up anyime, and play for as long or short as she wants. There are many RPGs for PS2, some of my favorite series are MGS, and GTA, but that might not be her cup o' tea. No matter what you get, i strongly recommend Katamari Damacy.
Gavin
Gamestop is a pretty reliable source for good quality used consoles, you could if you live in the UK or Ireland try Game as they stock new and used games and consoles. If your friend is making her for sortie into the world of gaming then I might suggest you consider getting her a Gamecube for a few reasons. It's probably going to be the cheapest of the three main consoles, many of it's titles are absolute gems Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, Harvest Moon and those are but to name a few. The Gamecube's selection of games seem to appeal to everyone, rather than just a particular genre of people in particular, or at least that's just my feeling on the subject. As well as that the Gamecube itself has a more ergonomic controller, it just seems to sit in your hands without forcing you to shift them into awkward positions. Really it's up to you, I'd suggest going for a console that suits what she likes, and then getting the best deal you can. I'd also like to give you a pat on the back for what you're doing, not many people would do that for a friend.
Purple Haze
Screw a used PS2. Those things run for $130- just 20 bucks short of a brand new one. On ebagmes. com and gamestop.com they have a NEW gamecube with a free game for $100. Now with that extra $30 you can buy her a memory card and a Players Choice game. Kamuro
He said he wanted good system, not a Gamecube, geez lol. Go for the PS2, if you really look you could definitely find lower then $130 as previously mentioned. It also has the best variety of games, and I'm not sure what shes into, but the PS2 will surely have something for her. As for boxybrown...*nudges again* quite a nice guy. triforcelad
Screw a used PS2.
i agree, the gamecube is a lot better, gamecrazy is a good shop for buying, but not really good for selling. The Pure Evil pack is $30, and it includes Resident evil 0 and 1. They are both good games with outstanding graphics. other good games are veiwtiful joe, paper mario 2, metal gear, and super smash bros melee. Torrid
He said he wanted good system, not a Gamecube, geez lol.
Hey! At least it has Zelda! :animeangr But um, I would agree that PS2 is a good way to go. The brand new one is "cute" (nice and small), and there are enough games to appeal to any type of gamer. Also it has DDR. Gotta have DDR.
Wayfarer
What is it with all this GC bashing? Yeah, Im not the biggest ninfanboy in the world, in fact, I like the PS2 a lot, but Gamecube is a vastly underrated system. Its got a lot of good, if unknown RPGs, Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (everyone who hates it has OBVIOUSLY never played it.) Metroid Prime, and a host of games on the horizon (The Legend of Zelda, 100 Marios, Kirby, Ive been over this) not to mention the entire Resident Evil series, even though that might not go too well with Kris. Besides, at a local gamestop, a used but refurbished Gamecube was 80 dollars, wheras a used PS2 was 100, and a used Xbox was a little more expensive than the PS2, but I never trust a used X-box (the hard drive is usually fracked up.) Wind Waker, Metroid Prime, and most of those RPGs I mentioned are about twenty dollars, as well. So, in sumary, the GC is probably the best choice, painful though that might be to say for me. However, if you have already decided on what console to give her, besides the GC (I've been over that.) I've got a few suggestions. PS2- Final Fantasy X (avoid X-2 like the plague, though.) Katamari Damacy, a lot of good RPGs (im running low on time.):animeswea MGS 2, MGS 3 XB- Halo, Halo 2 (even though that ending...) Karaoke Revolution (more stupid fun than DDR) Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell PT, Splinter Cell CT, etc. Hope that helps!
Dragonboym2
First, Kris and I are just freinds. And second, she's a raging tomboy. She has no problems with violent video games. I'll prove my point. A while ago, she was watching the director's cut of "Robocop." And she likes comic books as well. So I don't think she'll want a copy of "Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy." If I got her that,or anything like it, she'd beat the crap out of me :) "KAMEHAMEHA!" Dragonboym2
Desbreko
GameStop, as mentioned, has high quality used systems/games for reasonable prices. Going by the prices quoted on their website, you could get a used GameCube, Memory Card 59, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Metroid Prime for only about $130. There's also a lot of other good games that you can get for about $20 or less on the GCN, such as Zelda: The Wind Waker, Skies of Arcadia Legends, F-Zero GX, Super Mario Sunshine, Soul Calibur II, etc. I tend to be wary of eBay when buying used games, though. Because, let's face it, there are a ton of people out there who take horrid care of their game discs, ending up with them being scratched all to hell. When buying from a place like GameStop, you at least know they've tested the games out first, and that you can easily return them if they don't work.
