Caught skipping school

Well... I decided to skip school today (not my best idea). It seemed like a good idea at the time though. I was online this morning when another one of my friends IMs me and says he was staying home today for whatever reasons, So because I'm not to smart and it's 7:13 in the morning I decide to also skip school. Now I've skipped school before and I usually call my mom first thing and tell her I missed the bus or something and then I'm off the hook for the
day, but this morning I didn't call... So I spent all my morning over at this friends house playing gamecube having a jolly good time, feelin good about the fact we both just got out of going to school when all of a'sudden my mom pulls into his driveway O_O. My mom doesn't get out of work until 5:00pm and it was only 1:00pm, Not only that but my mom had no idea where this certain friend lived. BIG TROUBLE! I answered the door, My mom was really upset. The school had called her up and told her I wasn't in school, My mom called the house and I wasn't home so my mom instantly left work and came home looking for me. She had thought something bad had happened to me, so she went to all my friends houses, called
their parents and just went all out. Which is understandable because she loves me and was worried. She brought me home and we resolved things and now everythings ok but I'm grounded from going anywhere for this week. We all make mistakes and this is one I'm sure to learn from.

Never not call your parents to let them know where you are ^.~. Take it from me.

I have only one question: Why did you answer the door?

Seriously. It's rule number one of skipping. Don't show your face to anyone who'll tell your parents, God forbid your parents themselves. You should've gone out the back door. I guess you're more honest than I...

And how does his spark conversation?
I have only one question: Why did you answer the door?

I answered the door because my mom had already called the police and if I didn't answer the door it would of made things worse. She also called the school and now everyones telling me how the entire school was looking for me and calling people in to be questioned. Things got a little insane.

I'm welcoming people to tell storys of when they skipped school and were caught or not. I guess I should of named the thread "Ever been caught skipping school?" If any of you moderaters get this can you change the title? Thanks. By the way thats two questions.

Never skipped school without telling my mom (I've feigned sickness a couple times to "get an extention" on a school project). But I did go over a friend's house, without telling my mom where I was.

Well, I didn't leave a note at home. I called her work office to tell her where I was, and after she found me, she told me she didn't go to her office all day - she was at some seminar, or something. -___-;

That's how she found where I was - her secretary decided to check the answering machine in the office, and they heard where I had went.

When she came to get me, my mom was like, "OMG I was so panic-stricken. I was just about to call the police!!!" The worst part is, I tried to tell myself it wasn't my fault, because I HAD left that message on the machine, but my mom still made me feel guilty. I hate it when she does that.

I never skipped school in high school. College, yes. High school, never.

Okay, there was Senior Cut Day, but that was different. We scheduled our Cut Day at the end of Standardized Testing Week, on the one day nobody in the Senior class had to take any tests. The school set up the auditorium to keep us Seniors busy by watching a few movies for that day. I cut. Everyone cut. I came from a graduating class of 900 students, and I hear only 50 people showed up that day.

Other than that, I cut one of my English classes (I had 3. A Humanities course, Creative Writing, and English-4) that same year. Once. The student body at my high school was so large, we had two lunch periods; half took lunch 5th period, and half took lunch 6th period. All but one of my friends had lunch during 6th, and my and his lunch was during 5th. So one day, we both decided to skip our 6th period class, and "double-lunch." I made the mistake of bumping into one of my classmates between periods, on my way in the opposite direction of the classroom. He asked me where I was going, and I stuttered a little (actually, not one complete word left my mouth) and pointed at the office.

My friend got caught and received Saturday School for "double-lunching." I don't know what that one classmate of mine thought I was doing (going to see a principal? I don't know), but I'm guessing he told the teacher I had an excuse, because I never got caught. I never double-lunched again, though.

Its in their nature for parents to overreact in this situation. However, it depends on the kid, I don't think my parents would really freak out if they found out I was skipping. I have before, just havn't been caught. Before you actually do this stuff you need to plan it, cause if you just do it randomly then you will be caught. At least think about it first for god sakes :animesigh

Not the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?

He's right, you broke rule number one of skipping school: never show your face to anyone that would tell your parents. Don't loose your cool and show your face to those that would punish you for your truancy.

I've found that the best way to skip school is to check in for homeroom and get to walking back instead of going to your next class. They won't usually say anything if you skip individual classes. Unless they're keeping track of you (and why would they unless its a regular thing for you to skip), or unless your in an extremely small school, how would they know that its not a simple error in role call or if you were just late to class?

Urgh. Unfortunately, Bloodseeker's suggestions doesn't work in my school anymore because we have cameras EVERYWHERE in our school. They're brand new this year, and the work. And while nobody hears too much about getting caught on one, I do know they've caught kids walking out of school, one rolling up a joint and smoking it, and some kids making out in school (and all of them got in trouble. Heh).

The only good thing about the new stuff they did is that they installed a flash sensor so when you try and light up a cigarette in the bathroom, it locks the door on you. You can get out if you pull this thing right next to the door (it looks like a blue fire lever that you press to set off the school alarm), but it sets of a lot of noise, so everyone knows it was YOU who was trying to smoke.

I'd argue that it's a waste of money for the cameras, but considering they spent thousands of my mom's tax dollars for plasma TV screens THAT WE DON'T FRIGGIN NEED, the cameras are the least of my problems.

So er, yeah. It's hard to cut individual classes and stuff. Cameras everywhere, and our teachers have some sixth sense; they know when you're cutting. o.o;;;;

Erm. What if there's a fire and the door locks? o_o

Sounds rather hazardous.

Yeah, now that you mention it... :animeswea

I've been known to skip classes from time to time, but I don't stay out of school altogether unless I'm really sick--and that doesn't count as skipping anyway. To be honest, I don't see the point of skipping school, unless the alternative is some kind of incredibly exotic & thrilling once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Simply staying at home sounds rather dull.

In high school I didn't skip class since I live in a very small rural town where everybody knows each other. Once someone saw my mom shopping and thought it was me, told my dad and I got in trouble that night when my dad came home from work! My mom explained that it was her that the person saw...but still. There was NO way to skip class without getting caught!

Now college is a different story. Most of the instructors felt like it was your dime you were burning if you skipped class. I only skipped class a few times for things like a couple of funerals. I had fun in college so I enjoyed going to class.

personally i think that skipping school because you cant be ***** is wrong. However i think its okay to skip if your attending a funeral, having trouble in the family or are just about to collapse under the pressure of schoolwork. As for me I like school because its one of the few times i can actually see my friends (they live far away from me).

I skipped school an insane amount, sometimes my mom knew, sometimes she didn't. Sometime she encouraged it. One morning she didn't want to get up to take me so she goes, "Are you sure you're not sick?" Anyway, most of the time I'd just stay home and sleep in. On the couple of occasions that I did it behind my mom's back I went to the beach or anywhere really with my friends. That's always nice.

I have an attendance problem.

I'm not even going to bother to explain. Go read the whole paragraph AGAIN.

future girl mentioned attendance, which reminds me of something else at my school which makes it tougher to cut classes. If you have more than TEN unexcused absences from school (per year), they have this big thing where they call in your parents and stuff, and you either get something like academic probation, or you loose all credits for your classes (I've never had it happen to me).

If you have more than 10 unexcused absences for a class, you get academic probation or something like that.

The school used to not care that people were using more than 10 unexcused absences, but we got a new principal that enforces all of the rules, so only ten absences it is! ^^;;

My schools have always said the same thing. According to my highschool if you had more than 10 unexcused absenses you weren't allowed to graduate. I had 47 and I graduated with no real problems. Bunch of bluffers. I managed to rarely go to school and mantain a 3.5 gpa which is pretty impressive if I do say so myself. Take that public education system!!!!!!!!!!

I skipped so much in high school that it got to the point where they were threatening to press truancy charges (which means automatic juvenile detention). But they never actually did... instead, they made a deal with me that I would check in at the office for 20 minutes or so when I felt like leaving--but I could leave after the 20 minutes were up...:rolleyes:

Once I entered the University, however, I had no desire to skip class and I love to learn, so I doubt I'll ever skip class again, outside of emergency situations...but I don't think that really counts as "skipping", does it?

I don't think its really an issue of wrong or right. Your not supposed to do it, therefore, its wrong. However, everyone gets overwhelmed at times and needs a break, so they cut, big deal? Caught or not its usually worth it. And if its just for fun, so what? Kids are supposed to have fun, make mistakes and enjoy life.

I'd say you're quite lucky, then, to have a school that doesn't care. Our school used to not care, either, but we got a new principal, who, sadly, enforces the rules. *sigh*

Lucky lucky you. v_v

I remeber last year in my freshman year I skipped 2 times where I left schol grounds.

They were both during SOL testing week and I didn't have any tests for my 1st or second period som me and like 4 of my friends decidened to skip.

My friend Mike has a car and we drove off the school nd went to this vacant apartment. We looked around to see if anone was looking and we went in.We stayed in there for a while then went to a trailer park and played basketball all day. Fun day.

The next day we wern't so lucky. we went back to the vacant apartment but this time we didn't check to see if anyone was looking to see us go in. So we were just about to leave when we hear someone at the back door trying to come in. We all run to the front door but someone is trying to come in from there. So we open the front door to run out and the cops bust in the doorway with guns pointed at us. The cops in the back get in and we were arrested and taken down to the truancy office and we were all charged with tresspassing. My mom was pissed and I was grounded for 2 weeks but that won't the worst part. The worst part was going through the education classes for 6 weeks in order for the charge to get dropped. Now I only skip 5th period because I go to all 3 lunches.

I've never skipped school before. I had considered it a few times in my later years in highschool, but I had a minor setback. Even if I made up a good excuse for skipping class and the teacher bought it, my mother would still find out, and I'd be in trouble. When I was in grade 11, the entire school board had this automatic calling system that reads the attendance sheets, which were filled in like a bubble test. It would call all the homes of those who were absent from class, at random times. The call goes something likes this:

"Hello. A child of yours attending (insert school name) secondary school was absent from periods (insert period number(s)). Please call the school at (insert school's phone number)."
