I posted this on another thread but it's a bit far back...

I've been to two different Anime Conventions in Toronto.

CN Anime once.
Anime North twice, and again this May.

I suggest you a few things.

1. Bring water bottles and food. A lot of water bottles. Food and water is always expensive.

2. SLEEP! Don't go sleepless! You wont enjoy yourself!

3. Read your schedule and plan where you want to go so you don't miss out on things.

4. Bathe. It's important to keep your hygene up. XP

5. Go with friends! It's always best with friends!

6. Don't be shy! Meet new people! Make new friends! You never know who you'll meet.

7. Enjoy yourself. You're there to have fun.

If you spend all your money on doujinshi (fan manga) you wont have any money left for food, transportation, whatever. So be careful about buying too much.

Have fun with everything is the main thing. And no matter what, never reach into the pocket of an old man in a trenchcoat.

I'm from Boston, actully. And of course I'm going. It's best to travel with some freinds, and money is pretty important. Try to take advantage of any bargins you find in the dealers room. For exsample, if you find a box set of "Ruroni Kenshin:Tales of the Meji" for $40, where it would be more someplace else, take it into consideration. And don't just stop for the con. There are lots of resturants and bars to go to in the area. Oh, and if you want you can always see the sights, or go to Harvard Square in Cambridge. They got a great little anime store there called "Tokyo Kid." Also, you can get pocky really cheap at a Japanese Convience store in Porter square called "Kotobukia." The people there are great, and I go there alot. Remember to keep your cell phone on at all times, be aware of your surroundings in the city, and don't flash money. Most important, have fun! Who knows, I might see you there.

Don't worry, I bet you'll be fine. If not, we can come to your place, and help you sneak out. (Joking.) Don't feel bad. Stay positive. Will you be in costume? I was thinking about going as Naota from "FLCL". Or Hero Yui from "Gundam Wing." If I do go as Hero, I'm going to ask people if they have seen Kira Yamato. "I heard of his reputation as a pilot, and I wish to challenge him to a duel." I'll say. Or go in the costume that got me alot of attention last year at Otakon 2004. :D Heh. See you there!

Did anyone go this weekend? I went. In case you might have seen me, I was the kid who cosplayed as Shigure (from Fruits' Basket) on Saturday and asked the voice of Megatron (I forgot his name) about MEGAS and the AnimeonDVD.com guy about IGPX. I had a great time there! It was my first con, and I got to do lots of fun stuff! My personal favorite events: An Evening With Gunslinger Girl, Behind the Alchemy, and the Bad Luck concert.

I came for all three days. I got to meet Scott Mcneil. He's a pretty cool guy. He signed my badge, and recorded a sound bite for me as Duo for a freind of mine who has a crush on him. Scott and I talked a bit about DBZ, X-men: Evolution, and Wolverine. I said all Logan did in it, was stand around and look menacsing. In the old one, he did stuff. Scott agreed. "Yeah, every other episode he was like (In Wolverine voice) Hey another mutant kid. Come with me." I think I'm going to see him again this summer in Baltimore for Otakon.

The convention center is built into a mall, so there was plenty to do when the dealers room was closed. There was so much to do and see. And I even saw a couple people I've met last anime Boston, and a guy who came to work a while ago. A freind of my joined me on Friday, but the dealers room was closed. So we hung out, and went to the game room. All in all, it was a great con, and I'm looking forward to next years. But we still got Otakon this summer, right?

There were some pretty surprising announcements made at Anime Boston, although none of them were exactly earth-shattering. When FUNimation implied that they would be further developing their relationship with GONZO, I had hoped that they were referring to something other than Sunabouzu (or "Desert Punk")--like Speed Grapher or Basilisk, or even the upcoming Trinity Blood. Oh, well. Those can come later, I guess.

I'm pleased as pie that Doki Doki School Hours (aka Sensei no Ojikan) has been licensed by Geneon, though.

What really shocked me is that Bandai plans on releasing all thirteen episodes of Avenger in one shot, for the price of a single DVD. I mean, I know the show is kind of universally hated, but they must think it's going to do really badly if they're willing to go to such lengths to improve sales.
