The PSP doesn't suck, Eric. Not saying that the DS sucks, its just the PSP has more capabilities in the long run. Music and movies on a handhelp isn't big now, but it will be.

Its true that the DS has more innovation, but it still feels like a niche item. The opening line-up wasn't stellar, and none of the games, except for Feel the Magic and the ew WarioWare, used the touch screen in an innovative way.

Like I said before, the DS can have a very promising future, if it uses that touch screen for something else besides maps and movement.

I am sure this will be closed or merged with something else considering there really is no need for this thread when there is a PSP thread, a DS thread AND a PSP vs DS thread on this forum.

In any case, they both offer something different. I think it's somewhat shortsighted to compare the PSP and DS directly as the DS was never meant to be a direct answer to the PSP in really any sense. Whenever they get the next version of the Game Boy out, then I think some good comparisons could be made. In the meantime, the DS is kind of just there and has its own little crowd of people that own and, I assume, enjoy it.

Regardless, there are several games for the system that make nice use of the touch screen and some that aren't quite as interesting with it. However, I don't really think designing games with that system in mind is as easy as designing a normal console game with a specific button layout. There's a lot more to consider in terms of that.

Anyway, Yoshi's Touch and Go is a game that makes great use of the system. There's about two dozen or so other games coming this year that I'm looking forward to that all make nice use of the DS's abilities. Some are coming very soon and others are more near the end of the year.

In any case, I don't think either one should be discounted yet. I don't really think either of them have yet had a chance to do anything all that amazing yet in terms of game software.

Yep. The PSP vs. DS thread is here, the DS thread is here, and the PSP thread is here. Those are the places that you'll want to go if you want to post about any of those subjects.
