Anime Best Anime Girl Tournament: Bracket, explanation, and discussion!

If you came to find the rules and bracket for this tournament, or if you wanted to ask me something about it, or if you just wanted to talk about the tournament in general, you came to the right place! A link to the original nomination thread (where the participants were selected):

Not a bad amount of nominations! I cut some of the less popular characters (from lesser known anime, generally disliked, or just not cared about) to even the bracket out. I don't think that any of them would have won, anyways.

[b]Set Up[/b]

Very simple. Just go to the latest tournament threads and vote for your favorites. Whoever has the most votes when I call the end is the winner. The winner will move on to the next round. The character that wins the last round will be the Otaku Board's official favorite anime girl! I'll be posting two threads and letting them run for a week before posting the next two, starting tonight. Thursday will probably be that night, though I'll be starting right after this. I'll pick up or slow down the pace as needed. (though there's a good chance that I'll stick to that format) The rest of it should self-explanatory. [B]2 matches every week + 31 matches = 16 weeks = aproximately 4 months.[/B] If anyone think that I should pick it up, just say so.

[b]Rules[/b]

Also very simple. Just vote for your favorite and post something on the matter if you want. I'm going to make this point at the beginning of every thread in this tournament, but just for the sake of explaning the rules: Don't just post the character that you voted for's name. If you're going to say who you voted for, then explain why you voted for who you voted for, even if that explanation is just quoting someone that shares your sentiments. It doesn't need to be complicated. Even something as simple as "I voted for Asuka because she has a lot more spunk than Rei" or "I voted for Asuka because she has a lot of spunk" will work. So long as it has more substance than "Asuka" or "Asuka's better", its fine.

[b]Tie Breaker[/b]

In the case of a tie, the win will be awarded to the character that has the most posters (not necassarily posts) posting in their favor. If that count is equal too, I'll be looking at which character had the better argument posted for them. If the arguments are equally good (or, god forbid, equally bad), I'll flip a coin with the first character being heads and the second character being tails.

If your nomination didn't show up here:

1. They were eliminated. If they were from a lesser known show, or are considered annoying or not really talked about, that's probably what happened to them. I actually missed a few characters my first time scanning the nominations (including Rei Ayanami and Lacus Clyne), and as a result, I lost count of how many characters I elminated to even things out. Oops.

2. I might have missed them, despite my double check. If that's the case, sorry, but I'm not changing the bracket.

If you have anything that you want to say, feel free to speak up. Ask, and I will at least try to answer.

You might want to add links to the ongoing matches.

We haven't had an event like this in recent memory, so I'm glad that you appear to have things organized & under control. Since more than two matches a week would start to flood the first page of the AL, I think you should stick to your current pace. As long as all of the versus threads stay relatively clean and free of spam, just like any other type of thread (thanks for setting a good example, by the way), I don't see a problem with it.

Listen up! If these things don't start getting some posts soon, I'm going to have to shut this down.(And the mods would if I didn't.) Like I keep saying at the beginning of each thread, it doesn't have to be long or complicated! You don't need to go into plot twists or examples or anything like that. I won't get irritated with you if you just say "I happen to like Katsumi's character more. She's more charismatic than Caska, and cuter." Just so long as it has more substance than "Katsumi" or "Katsumi's better", its fine.

I'm going to let this run until the Thursday after next. If the post count doesn't pick up by then, that's it.

Speaking of posting, I'm putting down one more rule concerning tie breaking. In the case of a tie, I'll let the thread run for three more days. If I don't catch the tie being broken during those next three days, I'll be looking at who got the most users that posted in their favor. If that's a tie too, I'll be looking at the arguments on both sides and will award the win to the character that had the better argument supporting them. And in the unlikely case that that's a tie, I'll flip a coin.
