Bloodseeker
Its not rare at all for message boards to be slow at the late night/early morning hours, but this place straight out dies around midnight. Where are the nightcrawlers?
Gelgoog Pilot
I often wonder that myself with all the people from other time zones and such on here...maybe just maybe...not ALL of the members here actually post anymore... :p Take it from me...after a while you see the same people posting over and over again since so many join and then gradually die out...but Im up late normally...I may not be on this message board at the time or I may just need some damn sleep....Meh....there is usually 5 or 6 members on late when I stay up real late...that's plently
Delta
Keh, this place does feel lonely when there's just, like, 15 users (including guests!) online. Pretty dismal figures, considering we've got some 11,000+ members. So you've got us nightcrawlers to keep the boards company in its wee hours (when it's actually broad daylight over here). It really helps that members live in different timezones, ne?
2010DigitalBoy
Yeah... I wonder about this a lot. Im up till the late hours all the time and this place is deader than a misty graveyard full of brain eating zombies. Or... make that undeader. Whatever. A lot of the time there are people who come on really late, but just leave because nothings going on, so they go to bed. If only all of them came on at once, them there would be a lot of people here knaamean? Anyway, I am a certified insonmiac.
Dagger
I can't even remember the last time I was online after midnight EST, haha. Funny thing is, I would actually consider myself to be somewhat nocturnal--I work better & think more clearly at night. Because of that, I usually kick myself offline and try to get other stuff done if it's late and I just can't sleep. ~Dagger~
Semjaza
I don't know of any message boards that are more active at night than during the day. Even the most busy ones I visit are incredibly slow late at night compared to the morning and daytime... Regardless, most of the visitors here are people who are still in school and can't afford to be up till three in the morning when they have to get up at six or seven. Personally, the last thing I feel like doing late at night is forcing myself to read tiny text and write things. Edit - It's 2:27 AM and I'm still popping on and off of this site between other things. I'm a liar :animesigh
Billy Shears
I would stay online late in the summer (about 2 in the morning), but I usually stop at 11:00 P.M. CST to go to bed for school... Staying up 'til 4 in the morning and waking up at 6:30 doesn't usually do much for the body. I try to sleep as much as possible. I don't know how people stay up for days on end. I could never do that. Sleeping is great. You are in a bed, warm and comfortable, dreaming. I would do that all day if I didn't have to eat...or shower...or expel urine... -starting a "Who Loves to Sleep" fanclub
Kamuro
I'm definitely a nocturnal, just not here lol. I have school during the day, and three computer classes in which all I basically do is surf the forum. In the later hours reading over posts gets tedious and I'd rather just go in my room and play a video game or something. Even on school nights when I have to wake up around 6 in the morning I can't usually sleep until 1 at least.
shinji172
Im more of a night person myselph. Most of the time i have too much work/chores to do during the day before i can even go online. :animedepr

elfpirate
I have an enormously difficult time sleeping, and I'm one of those who are up for days at a time on a regular basis--3 to 5 nights out of the week, I can't sleep-- and I mean at all. But I'm not usually on OB during my insomniatic hours, because the computer is in my mom's study, and adjacent to her room, so it disturbs her and her husband's sleep if I'm up here too late. The only time I'm on OB late (or early, depending on how you look at it) is when my mom and her husband are both at work all night... so...probably every other week.
Dirt
Well, I don't think you'll find that the OB is lacking in insomniacs--just lacking in insomniacs that spend the wee hours o' morn on OB. You Don't Care
I am an insomniac who works full-time, goes to school full-time, volunteers for certain things, has time for OB ALL THE TIME, and does art related projects! I get about THREE hours of sleep a day and am perfectly healthy. I've been doing this for about eight years and have gotten used to it. Woot for productive insomniacs! AzureWolf
The only time I get on OB late at night is if I wake up and decide to check my mail. I just don't stay up that late. The only reason I stay up until midnight now is 1. I don't get home until 10 and 2. Family Guy and Futurama. You know what would be cool, though? OB having a "night version" of itself. That'll get the insomniacs going! You know, like, the theme would have lights and fancy globes. The night scene will be more appealing to people and you'll find more people on, haha, and can be based on your time.
Panda
I am not a morning person..bah. I am a night owl by nature. I just got back from an anime convention that zapped all my energy so now I am able to sleep. Of course I have been sleeping all the time now trying to catch up on the sleep I lost! Darn 24 hour conventions! Normally you can find me online til 3 or 4 am (PST) then back on again by 10 am. I enjoy being awake during those late/early hours. I feel like I am my most creative during those times. I think it's because it is so quite, no cars driving by, kids playing outside, phone ringing...it's just so peaceful. I write short stories, remix stuff, and do other such cognitive things at night. Even though mom's home then, and one of our dogs is beyond hyper at night, I'm most actually relaxed, and can think clearly. There are some friends of mine that are only ever really online at night, too. I guess it's got to do with classes all day followed by work at night. I hardly ever sleep, but I'm getting used to it. :twitch: :drunk: :twitch: Best part about nighttime? Hevn
I totally messed up my body clock and is having a hard time fixing it. :( Not having enough sleep is bad no matter how healthy you feel you are. I know it'll have an effect on your health in one way or another..someday. As for me, I sleep too much.. and at the wrong time too. I hardly ever see the sun in the morning and I miss the fresh morning air. I wake up and, after a few hours, it's dark again. I can't say "I'm eating breakfast" since my meals are at 3pm, 9pm and 3am. It's bad. Godelsensei
There is something very pleasant about night time. I enjoy being up at two or three in the morning, doing whatever, really, knowing mostly every one else is asleep and will be for a while longer. The relative darkness is also very relaxing--you can look out the window, and see the street lamps and feel a sense of calm, because you're in the city and nothing bad's going to happen; they're too many people around. However, my mind switches gears dramatically once I find myself anywhere populated by less than a million people. I hate being in the country at night. Last summer, my family rented a cottage up somewhere where there were no lights to be seen for kilometers, once night fell, and I could not fall asleep. I would sit there, mostly covered by a sleeping bag, with my eyes darting back and forth, lest some chain-saw-wielding silhouette appear before my monitor-loving eyes. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep that week, and was very glad to come home.^^"

It's not like I can't get to sleep when I'm in a less-populated area, but I feel... alone and detached from the world. And I always worry if I missed something on the fast-paced online world. Looking out into the city really is nice, with the monuments and all. Like Godel said, everyone's a sleep, and you have complete silence. And silence is something of gold when you have younger brothers. Four of them. >_> A moment alone is a moment I cherish. But back on topic, most teenagers like the night better than the morning. I'm guessing it's because there's more to do then, along with the whole "I'm becoming a darker person" thing some experience.
