Guest luisote007
You can look to a lot of strategy games that are also very very long, an to comlete them in a 100% will take you even more time, but that is only you are a 100% gemer. There are the Super Robot Wars Sagas on PS2 you will not be let down. Visit this page to view some of the games http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-1sf9-71-3-74-ss-84-n.html
2010DigitalBoy
If you have 60 bucks, buy all 4 .hack games. If you play them all to 100% and beat them all then the overall playtime is around 80 to 120 hours. Great story, and a moderate battle system. Star Ocean 2 and 3 and Tales of Symphonia are both pretty long RPGs with the coolest battle systems ever. Star Ocean 2, if played to 100% completion, should take over 200 hours with a strategy guide. And TOS has a great storyline, even if it is choch full of steriotypes. They're the best stereotypes IVE ever seen.
GuyYouMetOnline
And TOS has a great storyline, even if it is choch full of steriotypes. They're the best stereotypes IVE ever seen.
I don't even want to know what you consider to be 'bad' cliches. TOS has the worst ones I've seen, including the extremly overused
'I'm your father'
, the 'going from place to place to activate the whatevers and save the world', the 'OMG my worst enemy just died!' (seriously, what the f**k is up with that? Why would you start crying after someone who's been trying to kill you dies?), the 'dumb-sh** main character', and a lot more I'm not going to bother listing. Well, at least it's better than the story in Baten Kaitos (not that that's saying much). Anyways, if you're the type that likes obsessivly doing everything in a game, then the Pokemon games should keep you busy for a while. If you just play through to get to the end, it's easy to finish in under 15 hours, but I don't even want to think about how long it would take to get every single Pokemon on even the first three, with only 151 Pokemon to catch, and I think the total number of Pokemon there are now is above 380, and you have to trade between R/S, FR/LG, and Colleseum (sp?) to get them all. I don't even want to think about trying that (heck, I got bored getting the 50 you need for the National Pokedex in FR/LG).

ffgrl_Ashe
Kingdom Hearts is a long RPG. When your far into the game youll think about the very beggining and say what a long way. At the very end of the game you'll see how even longer it is. Its a fun game. What makes it long is you have travel to so many different worlds and search for the King and your friends. At the very end you can see that thats only the begginnig of your journey and that the real journey has just begun.
Roflocopter
Go buy fable! No. Don't. That game had to be the biggest letdown. Soo short. But long games,The elder scrolls 3 morrowind is pretty long. Go pick that up if you dont have a problem with the sucky graphics.
ffgrl_Ashe
The director of Kingdom Heaarts2 said that KH2 will be the size of 4 regular video games so it will supposively have about 80 hours of gameplay.
nomad19
the suikoden series are pretty long, suikoden 2 made me spend 60 hours...there's a bonus in story when you finish the game in 42... i thought 3 and 4 were pretty mediocre... so suikoden 5 is the next best thing!!!! so yeah 5 would make you spend tons of hours with the extra features and the minigames plus in order to collect all 108 stars you would really need to have lots'o time on your hands! Deadpool
If you want to play some extremely long games, get those puzzle solivng, mystery rpgs like Myst, Exile, Riven, Schizm, or the Crystal Key. Some of Those each take a good week to beat, even with the guide book. And you got to remember stuff so it takes a long time. Oh and Kingdom Hearts 2 is so overrated. Panache
Well oblivion is a long(like 4 or 5 months worth) rpg. Thats just a guess seeing as im no where near beating it. Guild Wars technically is a long RPG (it's basically unlimited). Star Ocean is a good one. FF 7,8,9 are pretty lengthy as well. Tales of destiny 2 is long and VERY replayable. Iv'e spent over 200 hours playing the game. Also .Hack is a goodie if your more into story than gameplay and you wanna see a good anime game(which are few and far between). Xenosaga 1 is a good one as welli havent played 2 yet). That's is my list. Oh wait KOTOR AND KOTOR 2! The best friggin Rpg's ever made on a console. Might wanna try Jade empire as well. Maybe fable(special edition) beacuse the game itself is rather short but it has LOADS of content. Thats it.
TheResplendent
There are an imense number of recent RPGs with 40+ hours of gameplay. The longest RPG i've ever played (which is also my second favorite RPG of all time) is Xenogears (which isn't recent, but if you havent played it...i highly suggest it...above any other) it clocked in at about 85 hours for me (i also tend to do every little sidequest and make sure that i'm accomplished pretty much everything in the game before i beat it, so i don't know about anyone else's playing ethics) however one of the more recent PS2 RPGs that ive played that has come awfully close to the 80 hour mark was Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. It isnt as recent as other games, and it did not come out this year, but it is a RPG of great calibur and offers a fresh sense of originality and is quite a challenging game. Other games clocking in at the between 40-60 hour mark worth playing: PS2: -Star Ocean: TTEOT -Shadow Hearts and Shadow Hearts Covenent (From the new world just barely hit the 40 hour mark for me, it's still worth playing but it pales in comparison to the previous two) -FFX - round 60 hours minus completeing the whole monster arena, 100% grid completion for every characters and blitzball tournaments for me. -Most games in the Suikoden series (i believe 3 was the shortest one...for me anyways) Other systems: If your into the whole MMO scene, guild wars or WOW are obviously the best choices out there nowadays. Oblivion offers a great single player experience with much of the same aspects and lasts longer than your normal full length console RPG. I haven't played a zelda game that took me longer than 40 hours, but all of em are still quite good. Theres a whole bunch more, i've named a few of the key players. BlueYoshi
This topic is just over six months old now, and I'm pretty sure that the thread-starter has resolved his issues concerning a lack of long RPGs over the months. So, in future, please try not to revive old threads if you feel that it's not completely necessary, especially if there are already a few other RPG recommendation threads floating about Play It that you could post in. Remember, if anyone has any questions, then feel free to contact either me or Charles via PM -- we'd be glad to help (it's our job, you see).
