For an example some people say that "Shippo" (from inu-yasha) don't even serve a purpose in the show or don't have anything to contribute. So who do you think is just there for show ? Because if its all, there are countless hoards of minor characters that didn't serve any real purpose. As far as main characters go, I'm gonna have to say Mihoshi from Tenchi Muyo. Cute character, and its been a while since I've seen Tenchi Universe, but I don't remember her playing an active role in the story or even doing anything worth mentioning. She was always just there. Venge Posted April 15, 2005 Share Posted April 15, 2005 Bra from DBGT. Whoopty freakin' doo. She appears in a few episodes ( I think about 4 or so?) and then POOF, she is gone. Bra is the only one who was not with the character group during the SS4 Goku/SS4 Vegeta VS Omega Shenron right. I thought being the daughter of Vegeta would make her a character that they would show more often, but I guess I was wrong. He has little to no use at all in the story. Someone responded saying "Sometimes they need his fox fire." Well, how many times have you actually seen them [U]need[/U] fox fire? I mean c'mon lol. A lot of the time the show side tracks just to play an episode based on Shippou, which gets annoying when you really want the story to progress. Hikari does the least, and yet she appears to be the head of the Abandoned Home. Through most of the series what little tasks she does could have easily been passed on to one of the other main/supporting characters. Also, there's not much development or explanation for Hikari. Really though...I would have to say that the most pointless character would have to be Relana Peacecraft(I thinks thats how you spell it). Yeah so what, she was the daughter of the peace director, but after her dad died she really wasnt worth anything, but as a distracton for Heero. She was responsible for just about every movement towards peace in the series! That's definitely not a character without a purpose! And what's wrong with Shippo, you ask? All he does is follow Inuyasha and company around and restate the obvious. The only time that he did anything useful was when he escaped from Koga to tell Inuyasha where Kagome was, and Kagome ended be able to handle herself just fine anyways. One Character who I think doesn't have a place in an anime is Hercule in Dragonball Z GT and whatever else they may come out with to continue that annoying preteen boy died out series. I mean he has no powers can't fly and relies on Buu to practically fight for him which is hilarious on GT when he has to fight Goku in the World Tournament after Goku is turned into a child by the dark star dragonballs. Perhaps they only made her because they needed another charachter design for the video games. Shippo, while a really cool guy, is pointless. HE DOES NOTHING. Not in the 1st season, not in the 2nd season, not even in the 4th season. Also, I think that Miroku and Sango are slowly slipping into nothingness. Shippo, for example, he's impacting Kagome, as well as Inuyasha... It may be subtle, but it would be different if he wasn't there. Most minor characters serve some purpose, some impact and some are just... there... but they all have a reason for existing; if they didn't, then they wouldn't be there. If it werent for Shippo, Inuyasha wouldnt have as much respect for the weaker guys, and probably wouldnt be as lighthearted. I think he has a pretty big impact on Inuyashas life. I change my side. As for Dragonball/z/GT, everyone is pointless. They're just a bunch of worthless, mindless idiots who contribute nothing to the series. Half of them are forgotten and never used. People can even die only to be forgotten about that same day and not even remembered until its dragon time. (doesnt the show end with Krillin dead?) Its been a long time since I've watched those episodes, but I'm pretty sure that Inuyasha felt some sympathy for Shippo's problem when he met him. Even if he didn't, human emotions were always part of his character. (seeing as how he's only half-demon) And I don't see how anyone can say that he's effected Kagome at all. He draws her pictures and hides in her hair. That's it. The only effect that he's had on either is giving Inuyasha a way to vent his frustrations and giving Kagome another excuse to yell "SIT!" at Inuyasha. He's completely useless to the overall plot. The first anime that comes to mind is SailorMoon and the characters are: Osaka Naru (NA Dub Molly Baker) Gurio Umino (Melvin) and Rika (Rita) Naru is pointless unless you count how many times she's had her energy drained by the Dark Kingdom, caused a Daimon to appear (with help from Umino I may add) [spoiler]and get Umino attacked. Or got her dream mirror searched by the Amazone Trio[/spoiler] Usagi should have just dumped Naru as soon as she got cooler friends. Umino served as nothing more than the class nerd and an annoyance to Usagi until Naru weaked Nephrite [spoiler]and Zoicite killed him[/spoiler] Then he forgot Usagi (how fickle) and became infatuated with Naru. Proof of how uselss they were was shown in the fifth season when Naru and Umino were dropped to make room for cooler characters...like ones who could change sex. My last character Rika, has only appeared twice...ok, three times if you count that one episode where that other guy who has a crush on Ami shows up again. Once in the first season when she had a rainbow crystal, once shortly in the first season when Evil Endimion captured her again and lastly in the fourth season because of something else.
