Yo, I just picked this game up and it is pretty good. It ain't easy though. You really gotta use all of your skills to survive. I took 8 tries beating the first battle. Only after the battle did I learn I could change the difficulty... oops. The game is pretty sweet, and the voices and music are great. The battle system is sweetbu ttakes some real getting used to. So far the story is really good. I havent checked out the extras yet, but Ill get back to you on that.

So... opinions?

I'll get this eventually. Probably when I'm finished with the semester. I'm a bit concerned with the length though. It's reported that the main quest can be finished in twenty-two hours. Although the game is supposed to have tremendous replay value, I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't unfold on an epic scale.

The battle system supposedly leaves just a bit to be desired as well. It's functional, but nothing spectacular. So, that's another concern.

Lastly, the landscapes look beautiful from the media I've seen, but I find the art style (pertaining to character design) bland and uninteresting.

As I said, I'll take the dive at some point due to my love of the first Knights of the Old Republic--and I think I'll be satisfied. It's just that this one may have been overrated somewhat, like Knights of the Old Republic 2 was, so I'm not in a frenzy to play it or anything.

Exactly what I expected to hear. Dont worry about that. The charachters arent all that great looking, i agree, but they more than make uo for it in personality. these charachters are really cool, and there is a lot of dialog. The graphics are just short of amazing.

I have heard the game is quite short, but there are six playable charachters and if you get the special edition version of the game you get a seventh. Also, the sidequests may add extra playtime like in Fable.

The battle system is one of the best Ive seen in an RPG. It is amazing. The variety of attacks and enemies are very large, and if you have the difficulty on anything other than student, your gunna get hurt. The only problem is that outside of battle the targeting system is rather poor, but it had to be for the battle system to work as well as it does.

I've done alot of research on this game from reading the reviews and previews on www.gamespy.com. It really sounds like a game i would be willing to buy. I have KOTOR 1 and 2 but i never beat either because they just kinda went downhill as you went through the game. the first one was really interesting though. but Jade Empire looks really amazing. the attack combos you can apparently do look really amazing. I cant wait to get enough money to buy it or at least rent it to see what its like....first i need a new xbox though because the one i have no longer reads xbox games.....:(

Bought it, love it.

However, I can't just post that so let me explain. After KOTOR came out and eventually became GOTY 2003 there was talk of a new game in the works by Obsidian called, KOTOR 2, imagine that, because BioWare was working on a new project that took alot of their time and effort. This project was and is still named Jade Empire, the title isn't anything to get all worked up over but the game is.
First off the fighting engine is remarkable, IF used correctly. What I mean by that is that you can't just rush in swinging your fists around like a drunken maniac (Even if thats what some of you really are.) you have to approach every battle with care and precision, using your block and dodge on a regular basis. The only gripe with the battle system besides the steep difficulty would be that you can't block while someone is in mid-combo on your fantasy Chinese butt. The game looks awesome even if the characters look a bit bland and some models are even re-hashed, its not the best looking game on X-Box (That title goes to DOOM 3, and don't argue with me I CAN prove it.) but it does look astounding. The soung quality is above par with the music bordering epic and the sound effects rocking your ears out, sadly the game falls short in voice acting as it could've been better than it is, I mean, its not bad but its not KOTOR, but then again...What is? The story isn't perfect and it has some kinks in it but all in all its pretty damn epic for a fantasy martial arts adventure. I recommend this game to anybody with half a brain, a lick of sense and serious need for good Action-RPG adventuring.

I have just finally beaten Chapter 2 in this game (out of seven) with every quest completed and I must say, this is one of the best RPGs I have ever played. I already have around 8 or 9 hours on it, as well, so that 20 hour crap is totally untrue. This is only the second game where when I left a town a practically cried because I loved it so much. The only other game to make me do this was the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. I really felt a connection to the people of this town. I felt their pain in having their town flooding, and when I saved them, I feflt really, really good about it. No other game has made me feel a stronger connection to its people. BUY THIS GAME NOW.

I dont have this game but i've played it at a friends house a couple of times. He loves the game but i just thought it was ok. For one, this game is pretty hard. The first battle alone got on my nerves. I thought about how long it would take you to beat the whole game and my mind went insane. I finally got the hang of it and found it wasn't as bad as I thought is was going to be. If you like challenging games I definitley reccommend this game to you.

I read that its a really good game, but you can beat it in 20 hours, so i'm not going to bother with it.
