Lately I find myself more and more interested in the actual lyrics of a band rather then sound. The lyrics really express how the person is feeling at a certain place or time in their life which makes it easier for me to relate to and listen to. I made this thread so that people could post lyrics they liked in hopes that someone else might check out a band or singer they like. If you don't wanna post lyrics, say whos lyrics you like, and why. What musician(s) do you relate to? My first lyric post will be one of my favorite songs by Atreyu. Its called "Someone's Standing On My Chest." Its off their first album "Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses." I really relate to this song and the feeling of being trapped somewhere with no escape, hope you like it.

Atreyu
"Someone's Standing On My Chest"

Starving, searching this barren wasteland.
Trying to grasp being this alone.
Pleading for a breath of fresh air,
Someone's standing on my chest
Dying; I'm asphyxiating myself.
Break myself, slave to my weakness
Choke on my words.
Oh I'm drowning and I feel so alone.
Break myself, slave to my weakness
Choke on my words.
The lights are on and I wish I was home.
Break myself, slave to my weakness
Choke on my words.
Oh I'm drowning I feel so alone.
Break myself, slave to my weakness
Choke on my words.
The lights are on and I wish I was home.
My lips are screaming pretty nothings.
My ears are bleeding for want of words,
Fu*k words. I need actions.
Hope has left me fu*king shattered.
Someone's standing on my chest.
Alone would be a pleasant change from here.
How do you gauge loneliness? (x3)
Have you ever felt so alone?
It feels like the light will never reach me here.
I'm choking back my longing for shed tears.
So strangulated by my lonesome fears.
Please don't worry too much,
It only hurts when I breath.

I have MANY artists whose lyrics hit me where it hurts. The ones I thought of immediately are Green Day, Avril Lavigne, Evanescence, and the one I'll mention here, Jamie Cullum. There are (of course) many others that I don't even want to list because the list is so extensive, but I'm going to post a song by Jamie Cullum called, "Blame It On My Youth," off of his album, "Twentysomething." Being the hopeless romantic that I am, this song is good.

If, I expected love, when first we kissed,
blame it on my youth
If only just for you, I did exist,
blame it on my youth
I believed in everything
Like a child of three
You meant more than anything
You meant all the world to me

If, you were on my mind, all night and day,
blame it on my youth
If, I forgot to eat, and sleep and pray,
blame it on my youth
If I cried a little bit, when first I learned the truth
Don?t blame it on my heart,
blame it on my youth

If you don't mind, I've got a couple of songs I'd like to post. I'm sure no-one will read them all, but I love them, so whatever.

IN FLAMES - MY SWEET SHADOW

I'm selling heavenly sketches
A world out of my mind
Ready to explode in purity to fill the holes inside

An ever moving stream with glowing rays of light
Emotions tied to pass lies and I know I should let go

Tamed with confidence of a brighter future

I found a flame in the burnt out ashes... burn out, burn out!

Fueled, these new shores burn, dark past lies cold
Shadow, my sweet shadow, to you I look no more

Another dawn collapses
Do I need to be reminded
A glimpse of my safe home
A path to hide all anger

I found a flame in the burnt out ashes... burn out, burn out!

Fueled, these new shores burn, dark past lies cold
Shadow, my sweet shadow, to you I look no more

In circles I catch
A torch carried by the immortal
From depths that I created
In vain echoes fade

Burn out!

Fueled, these new shores burn, dark past lies cold
Shadow, my sweet shadow, to you I look no more

Fueled, these new shores burn, dark past lies cold
Shadow, my sweet shadow, to you I look no more

Fueled, Dark past lies cold
For you I look no more

First of all, I love the song itself because it's absolutely beautiful (check it out - it proves that metal can be pretty!). I think the way Anders used metaphors is amazing, the whole thing has a haunting yet inspiring feel to it. I myself have a lot of pain I need to let go of, and this song always makes me feel better about that!

EXHUMED - THE MATTER OF SPLATTER

Pernicious - A ghastly Gordian quandary to elucidate
Pestiferous - A nebulous necrotic novelty to navigate
Labyrinthine - A contumely carnal conundrum to cogitate
Serpentine - An exulcerated entanglement to execrate...

Hands stained and filthy from digging deep for the answer
That lies at the heart of the matter of splatter...

Eschatological - The grave matters with which we struggle
Pathological - The perverse perpetuation of this purulent puzzle
Repugnant - The wretched riddle unravels in a reeking revelation
Repulsive - The final fetid farce yields such a rancid realization

Now your morbid curiosity may finally be answered
Deep in the heart of the matter of splatter...

A morbid matter on which to meditate or mutilate
A deathly detail to deliberate and desiccate
A sombre study in which sagacity is tantamount to insanity
An insalubrious interest in the inhumed and the unsanitary...

An unhealthy pursuit of the purulent and parturient
A feculent fixation upon the fetid filth and excrement
An exhaustive examination of the excreted and the exhumed
A tireless appetite to hill the silt atop the tomb...

Nebulous - The sanguineous solution is seldom seen before the last
Amorphous - Seemingly always six deep feet beyond your grasp
Funereal - Carnal cartography to chart the course of life's denouement
Corporeal - The wretched revelation that you sought proves harder to swallow
than you'd thought...

That anatomy is destiny is the unforgiving answer
Culled from the heart of the matter of splatter...

I love these lyrics because, despite the morbidity of the subject matter, any song that you have to pick up a dictionary to understand is awesome! The way he alliterates with these amazing words and doesn't have to resort to mundane, conventional songwriting is definately to be respected.

TOOL - LATERALUS

Black then white are all I see in my infancy
Red and yellow then came to be
Reaching out to me
Lets me see

As below, so above and beyond I imagine
Drawn beyond the lines of reason
Push the envelope
Watch it bend

Over-thinking, over-analyzing separates the body from the mind
Withering my intuition missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines

Black then white are all I see in my infancy
Red and yellow then came to be
Reaching out to me
Lets me see there is so much more
And beckons me to look through to these
Infinite possibilities

As below, so above and beyond I imagine
Drawn beyond the lines of reason
Push the envelope
Watch it bend

Over-thinking, over-analyzing separates the body from the mind
Withering my intuition
Leaving opportunities behind

Feed my will to feel this moment
Urging me across the line
Reaching out to embrace the random
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come

I embrace my desire to
Feel the rhythm
Feel connected
Enough to step outside and weep like a widow
To feel inspired
To fathom the power
To witness the beauty
To bathe in the fountain
To swing on the spiral of our divinity
And still be a human

With my feet upon the ground
I lose myself between the sounds
And open wide to suck it in
I feel it move across my skin
I?m reaching up and reaching out
I?m reaching for the random
Or whatever will bewilder me

Following our will and wind
We may just go where no one?s been
We?ll ride the spiral to the end
It may just go where no one?s been

Spiral out
Keep going

I love this song because of all it's little intracacies. First of all the subject matter can be interperated in many, many different ways (my friends and I still can't agree on exactly what he's talking about). I think that he's expressing his inspiration and motivation to expand his conciousness and develop his mind beyond that of the mundane and basic human functions. This song is very inspiring to me.

I think you could've fit all those songs into one post Jake

I myself have had a few songs that have really hit me hard. I'm not going to list them because I think its starting to become almost like spamming. But I do want to make a point that songs that mean something are really becoming a thing of the past. While some artists are clinging to the old school way of letting their songs tell stories, its very much unlike the way it used to be where almost all of your songs were something meaningful to you.

But right now look at artists like Britney spears or other's that top billboards. Most of their songs are just writers trying to appeal to a younger gen. that don't seem to care. It's good rap if it talks about "Killing dem %#$*&!@" "Smokin dat weed" or something like that. It's good punk music if the person singing wants to kill themselves, sounds like they want to kill themselves, sing about killing themselves, or about how their lives growing up stunk. Country is begining to go that route "Save a horse ride a cowboy"

I do listen to rap, punk, country, old rock'n'roll and many others. But the way people view our society today is becoming a greater influence to songwriters, rather than how it used to be, and my opionion still should be. It should be music meant to hit your listeners, not just to fill a CD up with enough tracks to sell to mindless listeners.

I agree with Drizzt, that lyrics are definately meant to mean something, if not to the listeners, to the singer.

The one band that can truely jump out at me, known for their lyrics (which are some of the best ever made), is Nine Inch Nails.
This song is Hurt from their album Downward Spiral.

I hurt myself today
to see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
the only thing that's real
the needle tears a hole
the old familiar sting
try to kill it all away
but I remember everything

what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end
you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of ****
upon my liar's chair
full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
beneath the stains of time
the feeling disappear
you are someone else
I am still right here

what have I become?
my sweetest friend
everyone I know
goes away in the end

you could have it all
my empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
if I could start again
a million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

One of their best songs lyricly, though many others that are just as powerful. Another great band for lyrics is Nirvana. Both Trent Reznor and Kurt Kobain, i respect very much for their lyrics.

I whole heartedly agree with you there x kakashi x, I am finding myself to like bands now with lyrics that you can really look into. I guess its because of a certain class Im taking right now where all we do is interpert things and look into the details, patterns, and meanings of a passage(Cap'n knows, Cap'n knows). I think its amazing on how many ways a song can be interpreted, and songs can literaly change people's lives, for good or bad. One artist I HAVE to mention is...(drum roll please)

ELLIOTT SMITH!!! Oh lord I love this man! This is my favorite artist right now, and it's so sad that he took his own life a year or so ago. His songs have really deep and meaningful stuff, though a lot of it seems to be along the lines of drugs. Like in this song, he says a skinny santa brings him something, but his speech is overwhelming and slurred, much like peoples voices are when your'e on heroin. He also talkes about needles on the christmas tree to add to the imagery. And thats just three lines in one song! Anyways, Kings Crossing is currently my favorite song by Elliott right now. Also check out memory lane, that's also a good song lyrically and musically.

Pink Floyd should also get an honorable mention because Roger Waters is a genious at writing clever lyrics and having deep meaning behind them.

7.king?s crossing

the king's crossing was the main attraction
dominoes are falling in a chain reaction
the scraping subject ruled by fear told me
whiskey works better than beer
the judge is on vinyl, decisions are final
and nobody gets a reprieve
and every wave is tidal
if you hang around
you're going to get wet
i can't prepare for death any more than i already have
all you can do now is watch the shells
the game looks easy that's why it sells
frustrated fireworks inside your head
are going to stand and deliver talk instead
the method acting that pays my bills
keeps the fat man feeding in beverly hills
i got a heavy metal mouth that hurls obscenity
and i get my check from the trash treasury
because i took my own insides out

it don't matter cause i have no sex life
all i want to do now is inject my ex wife
i've seen the movie
and i know what happens

it's christmas time
and the needles on the tree
a skinny santa is bringing something to me
his voice is overwhelming
but his speech is slurred
and i only understand every other word
open your parachute and grab your gun
falling down like an omen, a setting sun
read the part and we turn out fine
it's a hell of a role if you can keep it alive
but i don't care if i **** up
i'm going on a date
with a rich white lady
ain't life great?
give me one good reason not to do it

this is the place where time reverses
dead men talk to all the pretty nurses
instruments shine on a silver tray
don't let me get carried away
don't let me get carried away
don't let me be carried away

 • 3 weeks later...
I always listen to the song a few times, to see if I like it before I find the lyrics. My favorite songs are 'Otherworld' from FFX and 'Calm Before the Storm' by Fall Out Boy.

Otherworld

Go on if you want it.
An otherworld awaits you
Don't you give up on it.
You bite the hand that feeds you.

All alone cold fields you wander
Memories of it, cloud your sight
Fills your dreams, disturbs your slumber
Lost your way, a fallen knight

Hold now, aim is steady
An otherworld awaits you.
One thousand years--you ready?
The otherworld it takes you

Go into the sand and the dust in the sky
Go now, there's no better plan than to do or to die
Free me pray to the faith in the face of the light
Feed me fill me with sin now get ready to fight

You know you will
You know you will
You know you know you know you know that you will
You know you know you know you know that you will

Fight fight fight
Fight fight fight
Fight fight fight

Hope dies and you wander
The otherworld it makes you
Dreams they rip asunder
The otherworld it hates you
Free now ride up on it
Up to the heights it takes you
Go on if you want it.
An otherworld awaits you

Calm Before the Storm

I sat outside my front window...this story's going somewhere:
"He's well hung," and I am hanging up.
Well there's a song on the radio that says:
"Let's get this party started."
So let's get this party started.

What you do on your own time's just fine.
My imagination's much worse, I just never want to know.
And what meant the world had folded
like legs and fingers holding onto what escapes me;
what he has: a better kiss that never lasts.

You said, between your smiles and regrets: "Don't say it's over."
Dead and gone.

The calm before the storm set it off, and the sun burnt out tonight.
A reception less than warm set it off. The sun burnt out tonight.

This is me standing in the arch of the door hating
that look that's on your face that says
there's another fool like me.
There's one born every minute.

What you do on your own time's just fine.
My imagination's much worse, I just never want to know.
What meant the world imploded, inflated then demoted all my oxygen
to product gas and suffocated my last chance.

This one Tegan & Sara song has puzzled me for the last few months. I can't quite figure out what it means, and it drives me crazy everytime I hear the song. But it's a great song, nonetheless. In fact, that album (So Jealous) is probably one of the best alternative/rock albums of 2004.

No matter which way you go
No matter which way you stay,
You're out of my mind, out of my mind
Out of my mind, out of my mind

I was walking with a ghost,
I said please, please don't insist.
I was walking with a ghost,
I said please, please dont insist

Marshal Tucker Band's Can't You See-

GOING TO TAKE ME A FREIGHT TRAIN
DOWN AT THE STATION
LORD I DON'T CARE WHERE IT GOES

GOING TO CLIMB ME A MOUNTAIN
THE HIGHEST MOUNTAIN
JUMP OFF AIN'T NOBODY GONE TO KNOW

chorus;
CAN'T YOU SEE OH CAN'T YOU SEE
WHAT THAT WOMAN BEEN DOING' TO ME
CAN'T YOU SEE OH CAN'T YOU SEE
WHAT THAT WOMAN BEEN DOING' TO ME

I'M GOING TO FIND ME
A HOLE IN THE WALL
I'M GOING TO CRAWL INSIDE AND DIE

HERE COME A LADY NOW
A MEAN OLD WOMAN LORD
NEVER TOLD ME GOOD BYE

chorus

chorus

solo

I'M GOING TO BUY ME A TICKET NOW
AS FAR AS I CAN
AIN'T NEVER COMING BACK

FIND ME A SOUTH BOUND
ALL THE WAY TO GEORGIA NOW
TILL THE TRAIN IT RUN OUT OF TRACK

chorus

MTB's Can't You See never fails to touch me. His sheer anguish, expressed at the top of Southern Rock form and style, is captured perfectly through his simple, clear words.

Styx's Come Sail Away-

I?m sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
I?ve got to be free, free to face the life that?s ahead of me
On board, I?m the captain, so climb aboard
We?ll search for tomorrow on every shore
And I?ll try, oh lord, I?ll try to carry on

I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But we?ll try best that we can to carry on

A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

I thought that they were angels, but to my surprise
They climbed aboard their starship and headed for the skies
Singing come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me

Hope springs eternal, even when one has missed their pot of gold. The melancholy to joy of fulfillment transition sends chills down my spine on each and every occasion that I hear it. If you haven't heard "Come Sail Away" I encouarge you to download it or get the CD right away.

Steven Still's Love the One You're With-

If you're down, and confused
And you don't remember, who you're talkin' to
Concentration slips away
'Cause your baby is so far away

Chorus
And there's a rose, in a fisted glove
And the eagle flies, with the dove
And if you can't be, with the one you love
Love the one you're with

Don't be angry, don't be sad
Don't sit cryin' over good times you had
There's a girl, right next to you
And she's just waitin', for something to do

[Chorus]

Turn your heartache right into joy
She's a girl, and you're a boy
So get it together, make it nice
You ain't gonna need, any more advice

[Chorus]

We are often bound by circumstances, and the encouragement to rise above that and make do with what you have is inspirational to me. CSNY captures this feeling, the longing for what once was and isn't now, and then releases it by taking a deep breath and then "Love the One You're With". Another recommended classic.

CCR's Have You Ever Seen The Rain-

(J.C. Fogerty)

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know
It's been coming for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain on a sunny day
I know
Shining down like water

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?

Coming down on a sunny day
Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know
It's been that way for all my time
Till forever on it goes
Through the circle fast and slow
I know
And it can't stop I wonder

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
Comin' down a sunny day...

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
Comin' down a sunny day...

Already a contender for greatest Southern Blues rock song ever on merit of instrumentals, the words of HYESTR capture for me the melancholy aspect of life. The words offer me a sort of paternal or mentor like wisdom, coupled with a tinge of regret and longing for the end of the storms.

Foreigner's Juke Box Hero My all time favorite song:

Standing in the rain, with his head hung low
Couldn?t get a ticket, it was a sold out show
Heard the roar of the crowd, he could picture the scene
Put his ear to the wall, then like a distant scream

He heard one guitar, just blew him away
He saw stars in his eyes, and the very next day
Bought a beat up six string in a secondhand store
Didn?t know how to play it, but he knew for sure

That one guitar, felt good in his hands
Didn?t take long, to understand
Just one guitar, slung way down low
Was one way ticket, only one way to go

So he started rockin?
Ain?t never gonna stop
Gotta keep on rockin?
Someday he?s gonna make it to the top

And be a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes
He?s a juke box hero
He took one guitar, juke box hero, stars in his eyes
Juke box hero, he?ll come alive tonight

In a town without a name, in a heavy downpour
Thought he passed his own shadow, by the backstage door
Like a trip through the past, to that day in the rain
And that one guitar made his whole life change

Now he needs to keep rockin?
He just can?t stop
Gotta keep on rockin?
That boy has got to stay on top

And be a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes
He?s a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes
Yeah, juke box hero, got stars in his eyes
With that one guitar he?ll come alive
Come alive tonight

Yeah, he?s gotta keep rockin?
He just can?t stop
Gotta keep on rockin?
That boy has got to stay on top

And be a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes
He?s a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes
Just one guitar, put stars in his eyes
He?s just a juke box hero, aah aah aah
Juke box hero, juke box hero, he?s got stars in his eyes
Stars in his eyes

Hope. Determination. Inspiration. Will to follow his dreams. These are the qualities of the JukeBoxHero. Although I'll never be a rockstar, this song inspires me to pick up the gauntlet and go forward, no matter what. I couldn't get my ticket, so what? I throw a better show.

Here's to Foreigner, greatest band of all time!

Being a huge fan of Hip Hop, lyrics in rapping is necessary, because if they aren't any good, then the genre is really, really sub-par. I have alot of MC's who's lyrics I just can't get over.

Ludarics: (who is hilarious)

Hip Hop Quotables

I curse so much just to get on they nerves/
I got kids "Actin a Fool" from the traps to the burbs/
My filthy mouth, it won't fight cavities or beat plaque/
So I shot the tooth fairy and put my old teeth back/
I take a **** on the equator, the size of a crater/
And make government officials breathe harder than Darth Vader/
It's the chicken and the beer that makes Luda keep rappin/
But no pork on my fork, I don't even SPEAK pig latin/

From yo' car to a crap game, no one rolls wit'chu/
One of Mini-Me's shoes got more sole than you/
So by the time you figure out why your record ain't spinnin/
I'm in the strip club smokin, with President Clinton/

I've been lookin for a woman just to put my stamp on/
But a lot of y'all are mo' stuck up than tampons/
So wash all ya sins away and stop playin/
If God's line is busy you might have to two-way him/
Then catch me in your backyard, playin croquet/
And when I'm drunk tell them kids, "Drugs are bad, mmm'kay?"/
Or watch me swing my chain at the Roscoe's off Pico/
Got seven cars, get all my rims at Chrome Depot/
And people think I'm bad, they say "Oooh he's so evil!"/
Cause I go on blind dates, with actual blind people (OW!)/
But my album's out the store, yours be on the shelf/
I heard you masturbate a lot, so y'all keep to yourself/
Cause these women want a man that stay up and stay strong/
Like the NBA, you gotta play hard or go home/
All that **** that y'all talkin, y'all can pop it to them/
Cause Ludacris'll beat you down with a prosthetic limb/
I put my FOOT so deep in yo' *** that you can smell it/
And yo' breath will turn to Foot Locker water repellant/

I take a look into your life and no wonder your so sad/
Cause you put up with more **** than a calostomy bag...fool/

Jay-Z: (Who is my favorite rapper.)

Public Service Announcment

Allow me to re-introduce myself/
My name is Hov', OH, H-to-the-O-V/
I used to move snowflakes by the O-Z/
I guess even back then you can call me/
CEO of the R-O-C, Hov'!/
Fresh out the fryin pan into the fire/
I be the, music biz number one supplier/
Flyer/flier than a piece of paper bearin my name/
Got the hottest chick in the game wearin my chain, that's right/

It's like bringin a knife to a gunfight, pen to a test
Your chest in the line of fire witcha thin-*** vest
You bringin them Boyz II Men, HOW them boys gon' win?
This is grown man B.I., get you rolled into triage
Beatch - your reach ain't long enough, dunny
Your peeps ain't strong enough, fucka

Well - we don't believe you, you need more people
Roc-A-Fella, students of the game, we passed the classes
Nobody can read you dudes like we do
Don't let 'em gas you like Jigga is *** and won't clap you
Trust me on this one - I'll detach you
Mind from spirit, body from soul
They'll have to hold a mass, put your body in a hole
No, you're not on my level get your brakes tweaked
I sold what ya whole album sold in my first week
You guys don't want it with Hov'
Ask Nas, he don't want it with Hov', nooooo!

I know you missin all the - FAAAAAAAME!
But along with celebrity comes bout seventy shots to your frame
N****; you a - LAAAAAAAME!
Youse the *** model for Karl Kani/Esco ads
Went from, Nasty Nas to Esco's trash
Had a spark when you started but now you're just garbage
Fell from top ten to not mentioned at all
to your bodyguard's "Oochie Wally" verse better than yours
Matter fact you had the worst flow on the whole ****** song
but I know - the sun don't shine, then son don't shine
That's why your - LAAAAAAAME! - career come to a end
There's only so long fake thugs can pretend
N****; you ain't live it you witnessed it from your folks pad
You scribbled in your notepad and created your life
I showed you your first tec on tour with Large Professor
(Me, that's who!) Then I heard your album bout your tec on the dresser
So yeah I sampled your voice, you was usin it wrong
You made it a hot line, I made it a hot song
And you ain't get a coin nigga you was gettin ****** and
I know who I paid God, Serchlite Publishing
Use your - BRAAAAAAAIN! You said you been in this ten
I've been in it five - smarten up Nas
Four albums in ten years nigga? I can divide
That's one every let's say two, two of them shits was due
One was - NAHHH, the other was "Illmatic"
That's a one hot album every ten year average
And that's so - LAAAAAAAME! N**** switch up your flow
Your **** is garbage, but you try and kick knowledge?
(Get the **** outta here) You n****z gon' learn to respect the king
Don't be the next contestant on that Summer Jam screen
Because you know who (who) did you know what (what)
with you know who (yeah) but just keep that between me and you for now

A wise man told me don't argue with fools
Cause people from a distance can't tell who is who
So stop with that childish ****, n**** I'm grown
Please leave it alone - don't throw rocks at the throne
Do not bark up that tree, that tree will fall on you
I don't know why your advisors ain't forewarn you
Please, not Jay, he's, not for play
I don't slack a minute, all that thug rappin and gimmicks
I will end it, all that yappin be finished
You are not deep, you made your bed now sleep
Don't make me expose you to them folks that don't know you
N**** I know you well, all the stolen jew-els
Twinkletoes you breakin my heart
You can't **** with me - go play somewhere, I'm busy
And all you other cats throwin shots at Jigga
You only get half a bar - **** y'all n****z

That's just a few of my favorite lyrics. Don't wanna make my post too long... Though I beleive I already have.

My favorite lyrics would have to be Cloud Nine by Distorted Penguins. I probably like these lyrics because my girlfriend and I had a fight, and it ended up with her running out of my house and running about two miles to get home. It was a big fight. I walked over there, it took about an hour and I played this song on a boombox I brought. Once again, the soulful sounds of Distorted Penguins saves me, and we got back together. I am convinced that this song is magic.

Cloud 9

When it's late at night, and you're all alone
And you feel like you are on your own
Stormy weather, calm has never settled there
Think your weary life's beyond repair.

If you were blind I'd give you my eyes
Just so you could see one more sunrise
And maybe then that time you could understand.

There is a place where ends finally meet
Floating up on Cloud Nine baby
There is a place where lost souls always greet
Floating up on Cloud Nine baby.

If only I could be more for you
I'm more than willing to
If you would open your heart to me and let go....

There is a place where one day we will meet
Floating up on Cloud Nine baby.
