I don't know if anybody was watching this on Channel 4 (British station) on Sunday night, but I was, and I was wondering, what people thought of the top ten?

This is how it went -
RADIOHEAD - OK Computer
U2 - The Joshua Tree
NIRVANA - Nevermind
MICHAEL JACKSON - Thriller
PINK FLOYD - Dark Side of the Moon
OASIS - Definitely Maybe
THE BEATLES - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
MADONNA - Like a Prayer
GUNS N' ROSES - Appetite For Destruction
THE BEATLES - Revolver

Now, I'm a BIG Radiohead fan, but I just don't think OK Computer deserves to be the BEST album of all time. I know it's fantastic, but isn't there so much better things out there?

My favourite album is "Automatic for the people", which came at #11.

If you want to see the top 100, check out the site : here

My thoughts? Eheh...

1. Revolver should have been MUCH higher than ten.
2. MADONNA should NOT have beaten Revolver
3. How the HECK did THRILLER beat DSOTM?!?!
4. Tommy should have been MUCH higher than 52.
5. Brothers in Arms should have been much higher than 47
6. Where's A Trick of the Tale?
7. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars should not have been 32nd, either...

I don't agree with this at all, but then again, I'm not in Britain. Who knows...anyway, my top ten would look like this:

1. Revolver
2. Sgt. Pepper
3. A Trick of the Tail
4. Dark Side of the Moon
5. Tommy
6. The White Album
7. Foxtrot
8. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
9. HELP!
10. Yellow Submarine.

Meh. Maybe I'm biased, but oh, well...aren't we all?

I personally don't agree with this list, but what are you going to do? I think that it's impossible to make a definitive Top 100 Albums list because there's such a wide variety of music out there. I always roll my eyes at these sorts of lists, but I doubt that I could do any better. Someone would probably ripping on my list just the same. :p

I'm just sad that there's no love for Surfer Rosa on this list. I like that album more than Doolittle (I also like Trompe Le Monde more, but I'm pretty sure that critics hate it for whatever reason lol).

Nearly every Top 100 list purposely puts things that would be considered "controversial" within the top 20 or so. Some of the albums missing from the list are glaring ommissions. I honestly never waste my time reading them anymore. I don't even know who the people picking them even are 95% of the time. What value can I put into something like that? lol

I never care what anyone ever really says about a top ten list of bands or albums, because there are tons of people with tons of different views and opinions, so no matter what, there will always be disapointed people. Beisdes, it's just too difficult to make an accurate list of anything concerning music if it isn't divided by at least genres. There are absolutely TONS of differnet genres of music and to just throw them all into one list is completely unfair, to bands and the fans.

I think countdown lists of "best _________" aren't really applicable; Going by record sales is one thing, but everything else is just opinion. I could just call my favorite CDs "The Best Albums Ever", and I'll expect someone to disagree with me.
