OOC: Random post-trauma thing. @_@ Hope you don't mind Opal. ^_^;;
--

Rin had a minor cut and a few bruises on her legs from dragging Kina and a few others out, but was free to go, otherwise. Home would be the logical place to go. She wouldn't have to deal with her father until he got home. Of course he'd ask about the day, because it would probably be all over the news.

But she didn't want to go home. It meant routine, and she was trying to get out of her routine.

She, instead, walked away from her home. Towards the park. She had wanted to find Aka, but was still annoyed by her not showing up this morning. 'She can find me at the park. She knows I go there often,' Rin reasoned in her head.

The park was nearby. No more than a five minute walk, max. She stopped by a bench and sat down. She was tired. This whole day had been exhausting, and it had only been an hour since she'd left home.

"Today sucks," she spat absent-mindedly.

She didn't feel like walking much further, and found a bench in the shade of a tree.

She sat quietly for a few more minutes before she was nearly hit in the face by a rogue ball. "Sorry," came the soft voice of the young girl who'd kicked it at her. "That's alright. Be more careful, though," she smiled. The young girl stumbled around the bench, grabbed the ball, and rushed back towards her friends. Rin chuckled as she watched them play.

"I actually got hit."

"Huh?" Rin was startled by the sudden comment, jumping a bit off the bench when she heard his voice. It was Ran. Though she was startled a bit, she was happy to see someone she knew. "Oh. Yeah," she coughed. Talking with Ran was normally not a difficult task for her, but today it was. Maybe it was the smoke. 'Yeah. The smoke.'

"Having a good day?" Ran asked her, knowing the answer already.

"Not really, no. How about yours?" Rin smiled.

"Same old, same old," he joked. Rin laughed. This was the most peace she'd gotten all morning. Well, the most entertaining peace all morning. She didn't know Ran very well. He was in a class or two with her. But that didn't mean it wasn't nice to talk with him.

They chatted for a while longer about nothing in particular. Their routine mornings. Friends. Classes. Favorite places to go after school. Nothing special. But it was calming after so much excitement.

"I'm hungry," Rin spat out suddenly. "Me, too." "Wanna grab a bite?" Ran smiled happily, giving her a positive nod.

Neither of them thought of this as a date. It was just a humble expedition enjoyed by both parties. They were hungry, they'd gone through something traumatizing, and they didn't feel like thinking about it. They deserved it.

"Where do you want to go?" Ran asked Rin, walking beside her down the sidewalk. "I don't know. Anywhere."

'Anywhere but here,' Rin thought, glancing at the lingering smoke in the air.

'Anywhere.'

Alex smiled as he got up from the chair and left Jace there to find a nurse, as he said. He talked to Ken on the phone, making sure those two were all right. After getting off the phone, he was swamped by nurses and doctors, all telling him off about not getting his wound treated immediately. If it was an anime, Alex would have had a sweatdrop slide down the side of his face.

" I apologise," Alex started, " I only wanted to make sure my friends were okay first, before I worried about myself."

The nurse that had looked into Jace's room when he'd woken up and talked to Alex suddenly spoke up.
" No wonder you're friend calls you Princey-boy," she said kindly, half sighing.
Alex blushed. " Well... I'm not really..."
" Let's get the back fixed shall we?"
Alex nodded. " Mm."

The nurse took Alex back into Jace's room and slide the curtain between Jace's bed and the one Alex sat on. Alex took off his blood and soot stained shirt to reveal his toned body. The nurse almost gasped at the large gash in his back.

" You should have got this attended to straight away," the nurse said sternly.
" I always put my friends before myself, miss," Alex replied, just as sternly, which was strange for him. The nurse nodded, gave him a local aethestic before starting to stitch up the wound.

" You might have a scar now," the nurse said as she stitched up the wound.
" A small price to pay," Alex replied.
" You are truly noble, you know that?"
" I don't mean to be. It's just natural."
" You're innocent too. And polite and kind."
" Um... excuse me, but are you trying to hit on me?"
" No. I'm just observing. Sorry if I made you a bit uncomfortable."
' No, it's all right."

Jace heard this conversation through the curtain and watched the black figure of the nurse work around Alex's back. Alex never winced once as she worked, even though the numbness of the aethestic worn off long ago. In the next few minutes, the nurse had stitched up the wound and tended the skin around it.

" You will have some major bruising around your back from whatever fell on you. You also aren't allowed to play any sport until this wound has healed completely. Otherwise you'll tear it and it'll have to been stitched again," the nurse said as Alex stood.
Alex put back on his shirt and bowed thankfully. " Thank you for helping me."
The nurse smiled. " It's my job afterall."
Alex nodded and opened the curtains to see Jace standing.
" Lets go home Princey-boy," he said. Alex nodded and the two walked out the of the hospital room.

--------------------------------------------------------

In half an hour, the two were in their apartment. Alex had ordered Jace to lie down on the couch and not move without asking. Jace dared not provoke Alex at that moment, because of the extremely serious tone Alex had said the order in scared even him.

Alex made Jace something to eat and drink and gave it to him, before taking Jace's shirt off of him. He walked to the laundry, took his own shirt of them and began to soak them. Sighing, Alex walked back out to Jace who had finished his meal.

" Hungry, Jace-chan?"
" Very."
" Do you want anything else?"
" Nope. I'm right. You look after me way too much that it's beginning to get freaky."
" I'm not the one who's so injured that they can't walk anywhere by themselves," Alex snapped defensively.
" Whoa! Calm down Alex. What's wrong with you?"

Alex sighed and sat down in front of the couch. He turned the TV and PS2 on, and started playing 'Need for Speed: Underground 2'. Jace looked at Alex concerned. He'd never usually call Alex by his name, but something was wrong with him.

" What's up Princey-boy?" Jace asked tentatively for once in his life.
" I won't always be there to save you Jace-chan. You have to look after yourself more," Alex said, not turning to look at Jace.
Jace smiled and ruffled Alex's hair. " You worry too much about me Princey-boy. I'm all right cause of you."
" That's the point." Alex sighed.

Jace looked over Alex's back to see the 5 inch stitched up gash in his back.
" You get that when you got me?" Jace asked. Alex didn't answer and continued to play the Sony.

Jace sighed, getting a little frustrated with Alex. He always knew that Alex would save him no matter what happened to himself. That's what always happened. Whenever Jace got into too much trouble and was over his head in something, Alex would always come to his rescue. Talk about brotherly love. Feeling exhaustion take over, Jace fell asleep.

Alex heard the soft snores of Jace as he fell asleep. Jace didn't normally snore, just the few minutes before he entered real sleep. Alex stood and looked at his friend on the couch. He went to fetch a blanket and put it over Jace before giving him a kiss on the forehead.

" Don't do anything while I'm gone Jace."

With that, Alex walked out their door and down the stairs.

OOC: Anyone can approach Alex. He's walking around the city so anyone can meet up with him. But be warned, if you want to tick him off, now is not the time to do it. Hee DC, I didn't think I'd do the thing I was scheming last night. Thought it was too soon. Anyhow, TAG ANYONE!

Oh, and just do what normal 17 year old do. Get into a brawl, fall for some attractive person that passes by, get into trouble with some gangs, make something interesting to do. I'm sure other people will want to get involved.

Drew was walking around and the sun was beginning to set. He kicked his soccer ball just a little ahead of him as he walked through the park. 'I'm starting to get hungry...' He thought to himself.

He looked up again as he walked out of the park and turned the corner. Across the street, he saw Alex waiting to cross. Drew stopped so that they could possibly talk about what happened earlier. "Hey." Drew said as Alex approached him.
"Hi Drew." Alex replied.
"How are you feeling?" Drew said as he began to walk once more. "I know you got hurt earlier getting Jace out of the fire."
"I'm alright. But I can't play soccer until this gash on my back ceases to exist." Alex sighed.
"Oh...that's too bad." Drew looked down at his soccer ball. "But, it's for the better, you wouldn't want to open the wound and risk infection, would you?"
"No, of course not."
That's when it finally hit Drew that Alex's counterpart wasn't there. "Hey, where's Jace?"
"He's back at home, sleeping."
"Ah...couldn't blame him, I'm getting rather tired, too." Drew replied.
"So, were you hurt at all?" Alex looked over at him.
"Minor scrapes and cuts. I took off early and went home to treat them myself."
"I see." Alex nodded. "Have you been drinking at all lately?"
"Not in the past couple of weeks, actually. I was thinking of quitting, but after what happened today, forget it." Drew smiled.
"That's no reason to smile." Alex looked at him sternly.
"Whoa...take it easy, Alex. I'm just kidding." Drew replied, putting his arms up in defense. "But, I was thinking of quitting. But honestly, I don't see why you care that much."
Alex stayed silent and just looked at him.
"So then, I'm getting really hungry, do you want to go get something to eat with me? My treat." Drew asked, attempting to change the subject.

After the fire incident Zeph decided to head home, his lungs and abdomen hurt from the coughing fits he'd had due to the smoke inside the school building.

When the firefighters had arrived, they put out the flames and some of them checked him, giving him an oxygen mask to breathe into.

Zeph had to assure them that he was fine before they let him leave.

He walked home slowly, his tie was slung around his neck, not tied. In his left hand was his faithful inhaler. Zeph patted the pockets of his pants and were glad when his hand came out with his cell phone and Mp3 player. He speed-dialled his mother and told her what happened, she was worried and said that she'd come home right away. Zephan tried to convince her not to but she was a stubborn woman, he guessed that was where he got his stubborness from.

Zeph entered the house and threw his keys onto the table in the entrance hall and trudged up the stairs slowly. For the first time since the morning, he looked at himself in the mirror, he was dirty. His white shirt was darkened by dirt and dust and his tie had marks on it. He took off his school clothes and changed into his comfortable, casual clothes.

Zeph heard the sound of the house door opening and sat on his bed. He heard his mother panicking and running around, he knew she would be up with some stuff shortly.

He sighed and leaned back in his bed, as he predicted, his mother rushed through the room door with a tray of food, she set it in front of him and looked at his dirtied clothes.

"I'll wash those later. Zeph-chan, daijoubu?" she asked.

"Hai, daijoubu desu. Don't worry, Kaa-san, just a bit of an asthma attack." Zeph said smiling.

"Itadakimasu." Zeph dug into the food hungrily.

"I was worried, Zeph-chan. What about your tomadachi? How's Alex and Jace?" his mother asked, sitting on the bed near him.

"I hope they're ok. Jace had to go to the hospital, and Alex followed. The fire was pretty bad." Zeph replied.

"Ah! The hospital, Kaela's there too. I have to go see her. Kaa-san, can you take me to the hospital, onegai?" Zeph pleaded.

His mother watched his face, she could never say no to that expression and nodded. Zeph brightened and finished the food quickly, putting his cell phone and Mp3 player into his pockets he stood, ready.

Zeph's mother drove him to the hospital as she agreed to do. Zeph turned off his phone and ran in, approaching the receptionist. She told him that Jace and Alex had left but Kaela was still there, so he asked for the room.

Zeph reached the room and sat with her, she was asleep so he just sat in the chair beside her until she awoke.

OOC~ Whoo Hoo! Free time before class! :animesmil
Edit~ Sorry, I added some stuff, thought of something better in class.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Uh, how boring, thought Kyo as he walked through the city after leaving school. He turned a courner without really worrying too much about where he was going. Suddenly, WHAM! Kyo stubbled back a few steps but didn't fall. He shook his head and looked down to see a kid about a few years younger than him on the ground. He looked pretty preturbed when he saw Kyo standing over him. Kyo noticed there were about five other boys with him.
"Hey man! Why don't you watch where you're going next time?!" yelled the kid as he quickly got to his feet.
"Hey,sorry, I wasn't paying attention," said Kyo as turned to walk the other way.
"Well that's obvious," snapped the kid with an attitude. Kyo just rolled his eyes and continued walking. Great! Another wannabe gang banger punk, he thought. "Hey, don't walk away from me!" yelled the kid as he charged up behind Kyo. Kyo, however, simply whipped around, smacking the kid in the face with his school bag.
"Listen, kid, I'm not in the mood for this. I have a headache." Kyo said as he turned to face the hot-shot punk, who was once again on the ground. Kyo then turned and headed back towards the main street without another word.
He didn't want to head home yet; but then again, it didn't really matter since his parents weren't home yet. Both of Kyo's parents were research professors at a major medical reseach lab downtown; they were often home late, so Kyo never really saw much of them noadays.
"I wonder if they've even heard about what happened at school," he thought. He looked up from kicking a stay stone down the gutter and saw Rin and Ran head into a nearby fast food place. Kyo thought about joining up with them, "Well, it's better than wondering the streets all day," he said to himself and followed them inside.
"Hey guys, mind if I join you?" asked Kyo catching up to the two of them.
"Oh hey Kyo," said Rin turning around, then she noticed Kyo's bandaged head. "What happened to your head?" she asked, a bit worried.
"Oh this? I'm okay, something must of hit me when I was still inside the school." responded Kyo, smiling and lightly tapping his bandaged wound.
"Don't you think you should take it easy?" asked Ran, "You know, head home, get some rest."
"No, I'm fine, like I've been telling people all morning," Kyo snapped back. He then heard his stomach growl loudly. "I am pretty hungry, though," he said glancing at the menu.
Ran chuckled. Kyo was so cute. "Okay than lets get something to eat." He looked at the fast food place. He really didn't want that. "Hey how about we go to my Aunts restaurant she cooks pretty good. I learned from her. She will most likely even give us a meal for free."
"Really?!" Rin looked a bit surprised.
"Yeah. It's only down the end of the block." They headed off. When they entered the place Ran's Aunt came up and hugged him.
"Hey Ranmaru. You never come and visit. Hey Oboro, are little Ranmaru came to visit." She screamed into the back to her husband as she was suffocating Ran with a hug.
"Hey Ran. Good of you to come. Now if we could get your parents here." Oboro gave a wave from behind a curtain that hid the kitchen and than went back in.
"Auntie Rose, let go. I can't breath and you are making a scene." Ranmaru struggled out of her grip.
His Aunt looked around and her customers where looking at them. She laughed. "I guess I am. Come on I will take you to a seat."
?Thanks." The group followed her.
"So Ranmaru is that your girlfriend?" His aunt asks with a look in her eye.
"No." Rin and ran both said at ones.
His Aunt laughed. "That?s right. I forgot you swing for the other team. So this must be your boyfriend here. My Ran you do have good taste in guys." Kyo looked taken back.
"What!? Auntie!? Ran blushed d a bit. "They are just a couple of my classmates. We came to get a bite of eat because we where hungry. We had a pretty bad day since the schools chemistry lab blew up. So I said we should come here."
"Oh I see. That?s why you guys look like that. I thought it was a new fashion statement. Anyway here?s your seat." She handed them menus. ?I will be back in a few to take you orders.?
Ran sat down with a sigh. "Sorry about that. All the family on my Mom's side is like that. It gets tiring after awhile. I was hoping she would be a bit better today." She opened his menu and looked over what he was going to have. He was most likely going to get some Nikujaga.
" I won't always be there to save you Jace-chan. You have to look after yourself more." Alex's words kept replaying through his head over and over again as he difted off to sleep.
************************
"You know, Jace. You really need to learn how to stand up to Yuki. I'm not always going to be here to save your ass." Ravi turned to look at his five minute younger brother.
The two brothers were about thirteen and the only difference between the two was their personalities. They dressed nearly the same, cut their hair the same, and even their voices were impossible to tell apart. The thing they enjoyed the most was confusing people because they were so much alike and always together.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah." Jace mumbled, continuing to pedal his bike.
"I'm serious, Jace. One day you're going to find yourself all alone and no one will be there to save you." Ravi pedalled harder to keep up with his brother.
The cool fall breeze swept over their sweaty bodies as they raced down the quiet street to their Aunts house. It was the only place they could go that was out of their father's reach.
Suddenly every thing went black and Jace could feel a numbness rush over his body. He could feel himself sobbing and trembling, but he couldn't feel anything else or see anything. There was screaming and suddenly his body slammed against a something hard.
He opened his eyes to see his father towering over him, shoving his body against him. Jace tried to move, to get away, but his father held firmly to him. His father screamed at him, hitting him, tell him how worthless he was.
"No!" Jace screamed. "NO!" He could hear the front door being opened and the rushing noise of some one running.
**********************
"NO!" Jace sat up screaming. His head swam and sweat rushed down his brow. Suddenly reality washed over him and the sudden pain from his rips shot through his body. He allowed his body to drop back onto the couch as he looked about for Alex.
"Alex?" Jace called out. There was no answer.
Jace took a few short breaths before he halled himself up to his feet. He wandered about the apartment, but couldn't find Alex any where. I wonder where he went.
OOC: Hehe, a little of Jace's past and the mentioning of his twin. :) Well Jace is all alone and varinable.
Kina was in the hospital having her leg being X-rayed. She had been there a while and heard that Alex was in the hospital as well. She was hoping that she could see him before she left. The doctor came in with the X-rays. He held them up to the light and said to Kina,"Well, I'm afraid that bone has a small fraction in it, but other than that the bone is fine. As for the leg, well, it was cut with metal and we have to clean it or else you could get a serious infection. We'll have to stitch it up a little bit too. If you're ready, then we'll start." Kina nodded and the doctor grabbed some swabs and started to clean the wound that she had. Kina groaned at the pain, but she tried to stand it. The sting of the rubbing alchohol and other liquids was quite a bit for her to handle. The doctor was finally done and grabbed a needle and started the stiching proccess. Kina could handle this a little better. The procedure was uneventful, because it was obvious that Kina didn't want to talk to the doctor and vise versa. The procedure was done, the doctor cleaned the wound once more and then wrapped in it bandages. He went and fetched some cruthes and gave them to Kina.
"You're going to not have to put much weight on that for a couple of weeks. Come back in about, three weeks and we'll see how that is coming along. OK?"
"Sure" she said. This day just seemed to go all wrong. The fire was the worst. She just thought that she couldn't wait for anything else that would be better. She looked out the window, knowing that her sister would be called from work to get her.
"KINA! Oh, I'm so glad that you're OK! Did anyone else get badly hurt?"
"Well, I heard that Alex got a bad wound on his back, Jace was severly hurt and I don't know much more than that. I only got a wound on my leg."
"OH! So you're boyfriend got hurt? Did you go to comfort him?"
"Shut up! He's not my boyfriend!" Kina said, blushing a little bit.
"Hey, I thought I would just try to lighten the mood. Well, it looks like I'm going to have to give you a ride to and from school from now on, unless you can get a friend. So, don't wake up late anymore."
"Why didn't you wake me up? Would it have killed you to do it once?"
"I've done it more than once. Two months ago, five weeks ago, and not to mention about three weeks ago and-"
"OK, you've made your point. Let's just go home, please Tina."
"Alright. I'll help you up." Kina's sister lifted her and help her into the car parked outside. They went home.
"Well, since I took the day off, I guess I can make us something. What would you like?"
"I guess some Ramen will do. I want chicken flavor please."
"Alright, comin up. You can go change out of those coot covered clothes." Kina looked and remember how bad they looked. She went out and tried to get them off. It was a little easy since she didn't have jeans on. When she was finished, she thought that she would put on a T-shirt and some jeans. When she was done, she looked in the mirror to see how messed up her hair was. She went and combed it as straight as she could and then came out, with the smell of Ramen was filling the house. She came out, sat at the table, and started to eat.
"Well, I'd normally ask you how the day was, but I can guess. So, do you want to do something after we get done eating? Since I'm off tonight and you might not be going to school tomorrow, so we could see a movie. If you want to invite one of your friends you can. I might invite my boyfriend."
"What? You want to invite Akame?"
"I was thinking about it, if you wanted to invite one of your friends. Why don't you like him?"
"Well, maybe it's just that I don't like that you have a great boyfriend and I don't"
"You know you shouldn't be jealous. There's someone out there for you." Kina just finished her noodles and so did her sister.
"Well, the movie starts later tonight, so if you want to be with your friends, then you can. Who do you want to see? I'll drop you off." Kina kind of wanted to see how Alex was doing.
"I want to see if Alex and Jace are alright."
"You want to see your boyfriend and the rival?"
"I told you-"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm just giving you shit. Don't take it personally."
"Well, let's go"
"Just a minute." Tina grabbed some sunglasses and a sunhat and went out with her sister in the car. They went to the place where Jace and Alex lived. Kina went and knocked on the door. There was an old lady answering.
"Yes?"
"Uh-uh, I was wondering if I could know where Jace and Alex lived."
"They live upstairs. I'll show you." The old lady walked up the stairs and Kina noticed that there wasn't a place for the handicapped. Tina sighed and picked up Kina to carry her up the stairs. When they reached the top, Kina knocked on the door. Jace answered and Kina relized that he didn't have a shirt on. She looked away and blushed a little.
"Um, is Alex here?"
Amy walked down the sidewalk with Mickey. She carried her violin and sighed, what a weird day. One minute I am flying through the sky, the next I am going to a restaurant with her older brother. It was such an action filled day Amy was still shocked that she was going to be in a concert On Friday night, the same night her brother and her were moving out from their mother?s house and into a dorm. That was going to be another fun day to look forward too.
?Song-Ja, you are quiet, something on your mind sis?? Mickey looked at his younger sister. She shook her head ?No, everything is just so weird today. It was so unpredictable it is just still running through my mind.? She looked back to her brother and smiled, it was a fake smile. Her quote that always ran through her mind when she smiled? ?Just because I smile, doesn?t mean I?m happy.? Mickey smiled back and they took a corner.
They entered a restaurant named ?Oboro?s Kitchen?, the neon light flashed on and off making it noticeable. They walked in and looked around at the small and quiet restaurant; Amy smiled when she saw Kyo. Rin and Ran were the first to see the brother and sister; they waved and motioned them to come over. Amy looked at her brother and they made their way toward the table, they took a seat from the table right across.
?Hey, didn?t think I?ll see you guys here!? exclaimed Ran as he took a sip from his drink. ?We were starving, we had to get to the nearest place to get something to eat!? Amy chuckled as Ran?s aunt came toward the table. ?Hey there guys, your some new faces. Oh and look how pretty! See guys, this is the kind of pretty girl you should take interest in!? Oboro smiled at Amy. ?What should I get you all?? Amy looked at the slender menu, ?I will have the Chicken Tender?s Basket.? She placed the menu down, ?I?ll have the same.? Mickey said quickly.
Mickey was very over protective, but in some way its made Amy feel very good inside. Just knowing someone cared for her so much.
Maria sat comfortably on the couch watching the move with Ken when she suddenly got a rush of boredom....with everything that had transpired at school....she wasn't one to relax like this...but Ken seemed to want to relax and just chill.
Spontaneously, Maria pretended to yawn and stretched out her arms...having her right arm smack right into Kens face.
"Hey!" he yelled..."that hurt..."
"oopppss" Maria replied tauntingly as she hit him in the shoulder jokingly...."my bad."
"What's your problem all of a sudden?" Ken decided to play along and smacked her on her thigh with some force.
She stood up from the couch and faced him, blocking his view from the movie..."I'm bored..."
Ken couldn't help but agree with her...everyone else was somewhere else...and they were cooped up in a house. "yea...watching the movie is a little boring...but are you sure you're ok."
Maria put her pointer and middle finger to her lips, leaning down to Ken she pressed her fingers against his lips...."don't worry about me...I'm a tough cookie...let's get outta here and do something...get some fresh air."
"What did you have in mind?"
"Let's seek out where everyone else is..."
Aka sat on her bike waiting for the others to get there. They were late again.
He calls us out, and I'm the first one here...if I have to wait another thirty minutes I'm gonna just leave... She leaned forward, resting her head on the handles of the bike, looking down the road.
"Hey Aka!" She looked up to see one of the other gang members, Tohru, walking towards her from the other direction. She scowled at him.
"Where are the others? They were supposed to be here an hour ago." Tohru shook his head.
"You didn't get the news? We're not meeting today, the police got word and we had to cancel. They don't take kindly to gangs arguing with each other." Aka rolled her eyes.
"Well you coulda told me, I've been sittin' here a while!" She pulled her keys out of her jacket pocket. "So I'd better go before Ken gets to worried. When we doing this thing then?" Tohru looked around before answering.
"Tuesday the 18th. 10 o-clock pm." Aka nodded at Tohru before pulling on her helmet and heading her bike towards her family's apartment.
She wove it in and out of traffic going about one half times more than the normal speed limit, nearly crashing her bike into the apartment but managing to stop right on time.
Mr. Honda, their landlord hurried out of his house and yelled at her.
"Watch where you're going you baka!" She turned from heading up the stairs.
"I didn't harm your precious building or myself so leave me alone." She started to walk the rest of the way up the stairs but stopped as she met Ken and Maria walking down. "Where are you to going?" Ken shrugged.
"To find some of the others, done with whatever you were doing already?" Aka shook her head.
"No, they had to re-schedule it." She smiled "Guess I'll be coming with you guys then!" She slung her arm around her brother's shoulders, and all three of them walked down the street.
Hoshiko sat in the living room on the couch, sulking as she watched the people on the streets. The hospital had finally let her go - just in time for her father to come, pick her up and threaten to sue the school for every penny it had. The district administrator was in the kitchen with her parents right now, trying to talk her father out of doing anything...silly.
Her mother was trying to reason with both of them, as her father was raging, and the administrator was bouncing between cajoling and threatening; as district admin, he could just fire her father, and that would be that...she sighed again. At first, it had been amusing. This wasn't the first time her high-strung father had threatened to sue; normally, it was hilarious watching him argue. But today, it was getting repititous.
"And my daughter could have been seriously injured, if not KILLED, by that fire! Why didn't the sprinklers work? Huh?"
"Johnson-san, if you would just listen..."
"Well, forgive me if I don't WANT to "just listen," you arrogant old-"
"Martin!"And now that mother gets involved... Staring out at the street, she thought she recognized three of the people walking up it. As they got closer, she grinned slighty. An excuse! She hurried out the front door before her parents realized she'd gotten up.
"Aka! Aka-san!" Aka and the two other people turned; Hoshi now recognized them as Aka's brother, and Maria. Aka raised an eyebrow.
"Yeah? What d'ya want?" Now that she had the older girl's attention, she stammered. While the Yankee had kept her from getting teased too much in grade school, she wasn't exactly the most friendly person in the world...
"I - I just wanted to thank you...for pulling me out of the fire, I mean."Aka smirked slightly.
"Sure, anytime." Her eyebrows rose higher as her father's voice became audible in the early twlight. "Your dad in a bad mood?" Hoshi's ears flushed.
"He's throwing temper tantrums again." Aka exchanged an amused grin with her brother.
"So...you hanging 'round this place? Almost as boring as school..." Hoshi shrugged.
"They'd ground me if I went anywhere." Aka's grin grew wider.
"So what? Come with us."
"Where are you going?" Ken shrugged.
"Don't really know..."
"And don't really care." Maria finished. Hoshi nodded.
"Alright then, I'll come." Ignoring her father's voice, which had switched from yelling in Japanese to swearing in English, she followed the older students down the street.
"And what would you like, cutie?" Ran's aunt asked Kyo with a smile. She ruffled his black hair a bit, which was still pretty dirty with soot.
"Uh.." thought Kyo who was a bit red in the face from all the attention, "Um, some curry please, if it's not too much trouble." Kyo was usually pretty polite with adults.
She left and the five of them were left to talk amonst themselves. "Sorry again about my aunt," apologized Ran, "She seems to get like this a lot."
"Then why did you choose to come here?" asked both Amy and Kyo at once. "Jinks!" yelled Amy before Kyo could say another word.
Kyo chuckled a bit, deciding to play along with her little game. "Okay, what do I owe you?"
"Let's see..." Amy grinned mischeviously. "How about.... a date."
"A WHAT?!" said Kyo and Mickyey in unison (no jinks).
"You heard me, a date," this didn't improve the expresions on their faces. "Oh, don't worry. It doesn't need to be anything romantic. Just treat me to the amusement park or something."
"Well, uh..." stammered Kyo.
"Your not going to back out are you?" asked Rin, coyly from the other end of the table. From her expression, she seemed to be enjoying Kyo squrim. He looked around at every one else. Ran seemed amused by the situation as a whole. Mickey seemed about ready to kill him. Amy, meanwhile, just looked at Kyo antously(sp?).
Kyo finally let out a huge sigh. "Alright, I'll take you to the amusement part this weekend. Is that fine with you?"
"Yay! Thank you, Kyo! ThankYouThankYouThankYou," Amy shouted with excitement as she quickly jumped out of her set and hugged Kyo tightly around the neck, nearly choking him and knocking him to the ground in the process.
"Okay, careful though. I'm injured, remember?" he said pulling himself up. Kyo looked at Amy who seemed to be extremely happy for some reason, more happy than he'd ever seen her before; he was glad to see her smiling, but he just couldn't figure out why she was so happy.
He thought it over.
Well Amy is old enough to take care of herself so I wouldn't mind. I just hope she's careful with things...
"Nothing.." he said.
Well I'll just let Amy go..
Ran smiled and thought how nice it would be for him and Kyo go to the amusement park. He smiled though and acted like he didn't care. He had looked over at Mickey to see if he was really going to let Amy go.
"Well here you go kids." Rose brought the food and seats it down in front of each one of them. "Enjoy and let me know if you need anything."
"Hey can I get another tea here?" One of here customers shouted.
"Yeah just hold on a second." The group nodded their heads yes and began to eat.
Ran thought it was great to eat someone else?s food for once. HE smiled Dad was going to be envious. Think of his family he was sure he should get home soon. He didn't want his Mom and her assistance to have a heart attack for not completing the deadline. He sighed. It was going to be a long night tonight.
They finished the meal. "Well I will talk to you later guys. I got to get home and help my Mom." He waved to his friends and than walked into t \he kitchen.
"Thanks Auntie Rose and Uncle Oboro. It was really good." He bowed.
"Oh Ran don't be some formal we are family." His Uncle laughed and handed him a bag. "For you Mom and Dad. I know my Sister-in-law had most likely not had anything to eat. I packed enough for her assistance?s too."
"Thanks I know they will appreciate it."
The waved bye and his Aunt gave him a hug. He made his way out of the restaurant and than headed home. He walked up the driveway and all the lights where on in the house. The car was in the driveway so his father wasn't home yet.
Ran entered the door and was immediately attacked by his mother. "Maru! You are home. I am so glad. Here I have this for you to do and this." She was shoving papers at Ran. Ran sighed and began to get to work.
Alex sighed. He was way too worked-up to be wandering around the city. It felt like he could snap at any given moment.
" So then, I'm getting really hungry. Do you want to go get something to eat with me? My treat." Drew asked, amsile on his face. Alex sighed and nodded. It was too impolite to not accept his request.
The two walked down the city streets by themselves, talking often. Alex wasn't in the talking mood, but he hid it well. The only time Drew knew something wasn't right was when he snapped at him about his drinking. He didn't understand Alex at all.
" So where are we going?" Alex asked.
" Hmm.... well, there's this really good Italian restaurant nearby. How about that?"
" Sounds good to me." Alex smiled.
" Ooo... I could go some Fettucine Marina right now," Drew said, putting his hands behind his head.
" Some garlic bread and Angel Hair Bolognaise would be just nice. Maybe a broth of some sort," Alex said too, thinking about the Italian food he was about to consume.
In unison, the boys' stomachs growled. Both of them looked at their stomachs, then at each other and cacked up laughing. Alex half coughed, half laughed as the two walked down the street, closer to the restaurant.
" Well, I think we're thinking alike," Drew said, trying to gain back his breath.
" Agreed," Alex replied, clearing his throat.
The day was growing into night. The street lights came on. Alex looked up at the sky, at the appearing stars. There wasn't a breath of wind.
" I hope Jace-chan is all right."
" He should be. He knows how to take care of himself," Drew said.
" That's what I'm worried about," Alex said softly. You have to stop worrying about him. He's fine as long as he stays in the apartment.
" Why are you so worried about everyone Alex? It's like you put everyone's burdens on your shoulders and carries the world on them," Drew observed, his face becoming stern.
" I care about everyone in our year Drew. Even if I don't know them very well, someone needs to be there just in case. And I don't put the world on my shoulders Drew-san."
" Whatever you reckon Alex."
Accidently, Alex bumped into a bypasser.
" Oh, excuse me!" Alex said, turning to the person. As he turned, his right cheek was met with a fist. It connected and Alex's face jerked to the side.
" ALEX!" Drew yelled. Alex turned towards the man who had just punched him.
" Excuse me sir, but why did you do that?" Alex asked politely, although, his eyes were burning with rage.
The man just sneered. " You're our first target for our gang's new terrorising strategy."
" Hey man, that was uncalled for!" Drew yelled from beside Alex, who had a thin stream of blood trickle down from the corner of his mouth. He wiped it away.
" What you say makes no sense sir," Alex said, very controlled.
" If we terrorise this neighbourhood enough, we can get whatever we want. As leader of the gang, I chose you two because you seemed like easy targets to test this out on," the leader replied.
Alex growled. His fists clenched. " That's sick. People and power. It must be a human instinct to always want power, to control events and people."
Drew noticed that Alex was getting all fired up. He knew Alex was very strong morally, but physically?
" Alex, you shouldn't start a fight. You're injured."
" This will be over with quickly." The tone of voice scared Drew.
Alex walked up to the leader who stood in a defensive position.
" You'd better think about what you're planning to do," Alex said angrily. He punched the guy on the right cheek. A sickening crack echoed in the street. The leader fell to the ground, holding his jaw. Alex looked down on him.
" Next time you think about doing anything like this, remember what just happened," Alex growled before turning to Drew and walking away, leaving the guy in pain.
Drew caught up to Alex.
" What was that?" Drew asked, astonished. Alex sighed.
" Sorry to show you that. Please, don't tell anyone else about that. Jace-chan will kill me."
" How did you get so strong?"
" Jace-chan usually likes to pick fights when his odds are against him. Sometimes, things get out of hand, and I have to step in. It's been like that ever since we met. Progressively, I've become stronger."
" Remind me never to make you mad!"
" I'd never do anything like that to people I care about. Jace-chan might be an exception though."
Drew chuckled. " I thought you'd say that."
------------------------------------------
After their meal, Alex and Drew headed back to their homes. Alex said good-bye to Drew as he walked towards he and Jace's apartment. Climbing up the stairs, Alex realised one of the stitches in his back had opened. He sighed.
" Jace is going to kill me."
After climbing the few flights of stairs to his apartment, Alex saw Kina, her sister and the lady that lived under them at their door. Jace's head was barely visible out of the door. Putting his emotions inside, Alex put on a smile and walked up the last few stairs.
" Good evening Tina-san, Kina-san, Kitoyama-san. What are you doing here?" Alex asked happily. Jace looked out of the door.
" Where have you been Princey-boy?" Jace asked.
Alex turned and smiled at Jace. " I went for a walk with Drew. You shouldn't be up Jace-chan."
" Do I ever listen to you?"
" True."
Alex walked over to their doorway.
" Why don't you come in Tina-san and Kina-san? Kitoyama-san, your soap will be on in a few minutes."
" Oh, right you are Alex. Good evening all." The old lady toddled down the stairs to her apartment.
Alex showed the two girls in and walked to the kitchen.
" Would you two like anything to drink?"
Ken look up at the night sky. He, Maria and Aka had gone to a fast-food place and goofed off for a couple hours. He held the door open for Aka and Maria as a guy ran up to them.
?Aka, there?s trouble.?
?What are you talking about??
he must have been one of her gang members
?There?s some new gang moving in on us?
?Ok, Ken I gotta??
He nodded ?I know, just hurry, and cell it if you need any back up?
She returned the nod and patted his shoulder before running off with the guy.
Maria looked a little pulsed ?Is she going to be ok??
Ken sighed ?Should be. Sounds like a business meeting not a fight, yet. I?ll give you a ride home.?
Maria nodded and they walked down the street to the apartment. Maria was quiet, this allowed Ken to watch her, the way her hair moved when she walked, the way her eyes sparkled in the street lights.They reached the apartment and he climbed on the bike, handing her his jacket ?It?s going to be cold?
She raised an eyebrow at him ?Thanks?
They rode to her place and he parked the bike, walking her to the door. She turned and looked at him considering ?You surprised me today Ken?Ichi?
This caught him off guard ?Yeah? How so??
?You?re always such a goof off, and a lady?s man, but today when you ran in with Alex to pull students from the wreckage, you proved you?re also a good guy. I was proud of you.? She smiled at him
Ken ran a hand through his hair, looking at his feet and then he looked up and grinned at her ?Thanks babe?
She took off his coat and handed it to him, smirking ?Go home trouble?
He continued to grin ?Night, sweet dreams?
He rode back to the apartment, went up the stairs and tossed his keys on the counter just as his cell started ringing
?Yo?
?Ken, it?s me?
?What?s up Aka??
?Can you come get me? We?re done here.?
She gave him the directions and he went back down and jumped on the bike.
Jace grumbled to himself as he walked through the apartment towards the living room. He scratched at his rock-hard stomach with his left hand as he stomped through the apartment. He could hear Alex offering drinks and being friendly again.
"Damn kid." Jace grumbled as he sat down on the couch with a flop. A sharp twinge rushed through his chest and he caught his breath, but no one noticed.
"Are you going to join us in the kitchen for something to drink, Jace-chan?" Alex said as he and the others walked through the apartment.
"Does it look like it?" Jace spat back at his flatmate.
Alex sighed and shook his head as he walked by. Jace turned his attention towards Tina and Kina still standing at the door. The girls shot him an ackward look as they followed behind Alex.
"Don't worry, I won't bite...hard." Jace snapped his jaws as they passed him.
"Jace-chan cut it out." Alex growled at him.
"Make me Princey-boy." Jace shot him a look. The silve-blue haired boy stood posed in the door way to the kitchen.
"Don't, Jace." Alex was almost cold.
"You wouldn't dare hit me with broken rips and a bad arm. So don't threaten me." Jace stood up, his black hair falling into his stunning blue eyes. The tone in Jace's voice wasn't playful any more and the tension was rising in the apartment building. Jace ran his fingers through his hair, pulling it away from his eyes. He turned sharply from every one in the room and walked to his room.
Drew unlocked his door and dropped the soccer ball, kicking it to the side just before slipping his sandals off. He sighed, tired and sore from the day's events. "Man, at least I'm full." He patted his stomach with a weak smile.
That's when he thought of Alex. How different he seemed when those idiots showed up and tried to beat the crap out of him. And how caring he was, mentioning that he cares for everyone in their entire year. "Heh..." Drew chuckled. And even how Alex seemed to snap at him for his drinking.
"Have you been drinking at all lately?"
"Not in the past couple of weeks, actually. I was thinking of quitting, but after what happened today, forget it." Drew smiled.
"That's no reason to smile." Alex looked at him sternly.
"Sorry Alex, but I always take the truth with a shot of whiskey." Drew walked over to his refrigerator and pulled out a wine cooler. "You shouldn't worry about me anyways. You'll give yourself an ulcer."
It was tough for Drew as a child, he had suffered numerous beatings and mental breakdowns. He always tried to look strong for his younger brother, Jake, but it was Jake who always seemed to take care of him. They tried their best to look out for one another.
No one knew exactly what had happened in Drew's childhood, not even Micky and Amy, his own cousins. Drew wasn't even sure if they knew of his alcohol problem.
Drew sat down on his futon and hooked his MP3 player up to a pair of portable speakers. Gackt's "Uncontrol" began blasting through the apartment as Drew opened the bottle and took a sip. He sat up against the wall.
Drew curled up into a ball as he wrapped his arms around his legs and put his head down. "This is so goddamn stupid. Why do I drink anyway?!" He looked up, a dangerous glare in his eyes. "Screw it!"
He stood up and threw the bottle against the wall, creating a crash and some of the glass and drink splattering all over the room, including himself. "I can't do it anymore..."
Drew got back got up and walked over to the door again. He slipped his sandals back on and walked out.
A few minutes later...
Drew had been walking around enough to calm down and make some sense of himself. He was back to his normal self.
"Hey, it's that punk!" A voice called out.
Drew turned around to see those thugs that tried to mess with Alex earlier. "Oh great." They walked up to him, the leader with a swollen jaw from Alex. "Listen guys, I don't want any trouble."
"Yeah, I'm sure you don't." The leader hissed. "Too bad for you that your little buddy isn't here to help you."
"What the hell would you want from me?!" Drew started to get mad, he knew that he was going to have to fight his way out of this.
"Oh, we just wanna play." Another thug remarked with a smirk.
"We won't bite...hard." Yet another walked up beside the two.
"Screw you..." Drew started to turn around before the leader put his hand on his shoulder.
SMACK!
Drew whipped around and his fist met with the leader's chest. "Don't you ever touch me."
"Get...him..." The leader gasped as he fell to his knees. One of the thugs stepped forward and swung at Drew, just barely missing his face.
"Come here, pretty boy!" He swung again.
"Hey, I've got something for you!" The other pulled a knife.
"SHIT!" Drew yelled as the knife sucessfully sliced into his left forearm, he fell over and looked up at the two.
"Now, now...your friend should have known better than to mess with us." One grabbed him by the shirt and punched him in the face. A small line of blood dripped from his chin as he continued to hit him at least once or twice.
Drew felt the pain throb in his face and arm. Blood was getting on his clothes and mixing with the smell of the wine cooler. He mustered up a bit of strength and nailed the thug in the head. He let go and Drew dropped to the ground.
He got up quickly and lunged at the other, kicking him in the knee and breaking it. "Mess with me again and you'll regret it." He said as he turned and walked away.
OOC: I think that was the longest post I've ever made...heh...well then, Drew's about to collapse from exhaustion, so if someone wants to lend a helping hand, that'd be great. :D
Kina walked in with her sister behind her. She didn't want to make herself be a bother at Alex's request for her drinks.
"I'll have water, please." Kina said softly.
"I guess I will too" followed her sister, not trying to make Kina feel like she has to do this alone. Their glasses came and Kina sat down and set her crutches aside, not knowing where to put them. She wasn't trying to be too nervous, but she couldn't help it. She tried to think of something to talk about, but she just couldn't get out any of the words. Finally, she just took a deep breath and thought to make small talk before asking Alex to the movies.
"So, Alex, I heard that you got hurt. Where?"
"On the back"
"Oh, I'm sorry! How bad was it?"
"Well, it wasn't that bad. But I had to get it stiched up."
"What?! Let me see!"
"What?"
"You're not telling the truth. I know that it is worse than what you say it is. Let me see. NOW!"
Alex knew not to aggrivate a woman, especially Kina. He showed her and she gasped.
"You jerk! You need to be more careful! You could have been parilyzed or worse!"
"I wanted to make sure to save all my friends."
"Well, you need to watch yourself. I saw you running in and you had me worried sick! I thought that you would get badly hurt and you did!"
"Well, if I didn't than more people would have gotten hurt or worse"
"Yeah. I guess I shouldn't be so hard. You had good intentions. I should be thankful that you only had that as an injury. It could have been worse."
"I guess. I see that your leg got hurt. How did that happen?"
"Oh, well a desk fell on me and the metal cut me. But it'll be better in about two weeks or so."
"That's good. So, what are you going to do with your free day?"
"Well, that's kinda why I came here. You see, my sister took the day off, because she was worried about me and now we both have free time and we were going to go to the movies and she wanted to invited her boyfriend and I didn't want to be alone and Rin didn't feel like a movie, so I um....was wondering....you know...if you...could like..."
"Are you asking me out on a date?"
"No...not really...well kinda."
Kina was waiting for the answer. She felt like such a loser on how it went.
OOC: OK, I didn't know how to do this, so I kinda stereotyped it into anime type stuff.
Four sets of voices let out a cheer. Ran leaned back in the chair he had been sitting in. The rest of the group was high fiving and congratulating each other. Two arms wrapped around Ran. "Thank you Maru we wouldn't have been able to finish so quickly without you."
"Yes thank you Ranmaru." All three assistance bowed.
"Now if we could just keep your mother from procrastinating." Shiho, one of Ran's mom?s assistance stated. The other two agreed.
"Okay that enough. We have to get this to the editor and clean up the room. So who is going to walk it there." Na-roo clapped her hands together. Everyone looked at Ran.
"Come on it's late. I really don't want to." He wasn't going to win this one, not with the four pathetic looks he was getting. "Fine give them here." Another cheer arose.
Ran grabbed his coat from the hallway and took the yellow envelope from his Mother. "I will be back in a bit." His mother gave him a kiss on the cheek. With that he left the house on this very important mission.
Ran was a good ten minutes from his house when a group of guys walked passed him. They looked like thugs. He just ignored them and kept walking. He had another ten minutes until he would reach his Mom's editor?s place. It was really late and he was tired. He really didn't feel like doing this, but he could say no.
Further up the walkway it looked like someone was staggering. Must be a drunk was all that Ran thought. Than he saw his movements, whoever they where they where injured. Ran hurriedly caught up to them. As he came closer he seen that it was Drew. "Oh shit man. Are you okay?" What happen?" Ran caught up Drew's arm. "Let's find you a place to sit." He led Drew to a bench.
After that e looked at the wound on his arm. "Man you reek Drew. You got to stop drinking." He didn't wait for him to reply. "Let's get you home where you can lay down."
Amy had a grin on her face after the whole thing with Kyo. She was so excited about the date with him she practically didn?t talk the rest of the time at the restaurant, she couldn?t believe it. She was going to go on a date with the boy she had a crush on ever since she moved to Japan. As Mickey and Amy finished off their meals they both got up, Amy picked up her violin case by the table and smiled. Kyo waved as they walked out the restaurant.
Mickey had a tooth pick in his mouth and he moved it about with his tongue. ?I am not sure you should-??I am going and that?s that!? Amy stopped and yelled at her brother. They were both stunned because Amy had never yelled before. Mickey looked at his younger sister, she then looked away. She felt a small tear roll down her cheek, she then heard a sigh and footsteps move on ahead of her. Amy watched as her brother jogged on away from her, he was sensitive about arguing with his sister so he always jogged off.
Amy walked toward a bench and sat down; she laid her violin case next to her. She looked down at the case and opened the hatches, and there was a lovely oak, freshly polished, ornate, unique violin. She picked it up and placed it under her jaw bone, and then she picked up the bow and placed it gently on top of the strings. She slowly brought the bow back and it made a small weeping sound. She moved it and it made another small sound.
Then as if it would never come, her hand started moving at a rapid rate. Her fingers at the top of the instrument moved with much dexterity not missing a note. The violin is always pictured as a sad instrument, and Amy made this theory come true. Sitting on that bench she played a sorrowful ballad.
Ran helped Drew back to his apartment, where Ran realized what Drew had done after setting him down on his bed. He turned off the MP3 player and looked around. Glass shards were scattered everywhere, and the room had a drunken air to it. "Drew, how can you do this?" Ran felt queasy from just the smell.
Drew just tried to cling on to consciousness, he was so grateful that Ran had found him. He knew that he was going to owe him a big favor. "Drew, where's your bathroom?" Drew mustered up enough strength to raise the arm that wasn't wounded and point across the room. Ran turned around and walked inside, coming back out shortly with bandages and antibiotic."What happened?"
Drew was able to speak, and so he told Ran. "I got mad about something. So I tried to drink, and naturally, that didn't do me any good. I threw it against the wall and the bottle broke." He paused. "I left to clear my head, and I was walking around for a while when these guys that tried messing with Alex earlier surrounded me. They tried to hurt me, and I'm lucky that I've got only this. But they..." Drew trailed off as Ran rubbed antibiotic on his forearm, a stinging feeling took over and he hissed with the pain.
"Continue." Ran simply said as he wiped off the stab wound and proceeded to wrap it.
"One guy stabbed me, and I nailed him in the head, and the other, I'm pretty sure I broke his knee by kicking it awkwardly."
"Well, you're lucky I found you." Ran replied, looking closely at his face, which seemed to be in pretty bad shape. He got up once more and returned with a washcloth. "Here." Ran wiped Drew's face and got rid of the blood.
"Thanks man. I owe you big time." Drew smiled at his friend.
"It's what we'd do for each other, being friends. I'm sure you'd do the same for me." Ran replied. "It was nothing."
There was a bit of an awkward silence as the two just sat there for the moment.
There was a secret that Ran was hiding...he had a rush on Drew. Drew, of course, never knowing.
Alex smiled kindly at Kina.
" It's fine Kina-san. I'll go out to the movies with you."
Kina looked up brightly, and her sister had a satisfied smile on her lips.
" Is the movie soon?" Alex asked, pulling his shirt back over his wound. His arms muscles ripped fractionally. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see both ladies melting.
Kina snapped out of it. " Yeah. Umm... what about Jace?"
Alex looked towards Jace's room whistfully. " I think his pride is hurting more than anything today. I'm unsure whether I should leave him, or bring him with. Neither would be a good option."
" Um... you ... you don't have to go if you're too unsure about Jace," Kina said, a single tear rolling down her cheek - the fear of rejection.
Alex smiled again and thumbed it away. " I'll go have a talk with him. If you hear lots of yelling, please, go outside. I would not like ladies hearing such things."
Tina smiled. " You're a perfect gentleman Alex."
Alex bowed his head slightly. " Thank you. Now, please excuse me."
Standing, Alex walked calmly to Jace's room. The door was shut, but unlocked. Alex pushed it open to see Jace on his bed, staring at the ceiling. The room was full of tension.
" Jace-chan..."
" Get out Princey-boy."
" But... I wanted to talk Jace-chan."
" Would you stop calling me that!"
Jace sat up and glared at the Prince. Alex wanted to glare back, but couldn't bring himself to do it.
" No, I won't."
" Princey, you're pushing my nerves."
" And you are pushing my temper!" Alex said coldly. " What's your problem Jace?"
Flopping back down on his bed, Jace was silent and stared at the ceiling. Jace was really pushing Alex's temper, but Alex remained calm.
" If you don't want to talk, then let that be. I was going to ask you if you wanted to come with myself and Kina-san to a movie."
Jace was silent for a few minutes before saying this.
" You know what they say, three's a crowd."
That was it. Alex snapped. He strode over to Jace and got him by the scruff of the shirt.
" You pushed me Jace. Why? Do you enjoy seeing me like this?" He threw Jace back into his bed like he was a piece of garbage. As Alex got to the door, he stopped and didn't look at Jace, who was looking at Alex stunned.
" Come talk to me when you've grown up!"
With that, Alex disappeared into his room to get changed to go out.
---------------------------------------
Jace sat up. The apartment was now silent - completely silent. Getting out of the bed, Jace made his way to the kitchen. As always, Alex had done the dishes from when the two girls were here. The night was getting old.
There was a note on the bench for him from Alex. A letter lay beside it, previously opened. The note said:
Jace-chan,
Seems like we're going on a little vacation. Read the letter. It's from school.
Alex
Jace crumpled up the note angrily and threw it into the bin. He took out the letter from the inside of the envelope and read it. His mouth nearly dropped to the floor.
OOC: AND SO THIS GET INTERESTING!
Our first major adventure is about to happen. I'll need people to finish of their nights, and receive a letter, but you can't say anything about what's in the letter. So no making-up stuff. In my next post, you shall see all!
Albel, start off on Alex and Kina's date. DON'T HAVE THEM KISS. I have something special planned for that.
Rin walked silently down the street. It was dark, and she had left Ran and Kyo with the others. She couldn't help but feel out of place.
'I'm never wanted..' she thought sadly. A part of her told her not to believe it, that someone cared. But she persisted. 'It's true. I'm always ignored, and I swear I could leave home and stop going to school and not a single person would notice. Maybe Dad.. If he wasn't so tired all the time.'
But all this negative thinking just made her feel worse and worse, and soon, she was so depressed that she could barely continue walking.
"Why should I go home?" she asked no one. There was no point. She wasn't awaiting a call from anyone. Nobody ever stopped by just to 'say hi'. She could sleep in the park and nobody would notice except the homeless man whose bench she'd stolen.
"I'm invisible," she muttered.
Still, she went home. She didn't know why; it was just instinctive. Routine. She felt that she was so bland and boring that she couldn't help but stick to routine.
Rin, once home, grabbed a letter shoved in her door on her way in, and then waltzed immediatly up to her room, leaving the door open behind her.
"Nobody's going to come up here," she thought aloud. "I can do whatever and nobody will see me doing it."
She fell onto her bed, grabbing her pillow and pulling it down on her head.
Today sucked. She'd been ditched, late, and ignored all together. The only one who'd given her some kind of recognition after the fire was Ran and his aunt. And not for very long, either.
Was she that insignificant? Really. Who did care about her? There was Kina, but she hadn't paid her any attention either. And Rin had basically saved her life.
Suddenly, Rin felt a large amount of guilt. 'How can I be so selfish..? She could've died in there. How can I wish that I hadn't gone in there to save her?'
But then, another thought popped into her mind. If she hadn't saved Kina, that doesn't mean nobody else would have. Zeph and Alex and the others would have saved her. It's not like Rin was her only friend.
All these conflicting thoughts, and all these horrible feelings began to tear at her. "I'm invisible. None of this matters," she said blankly, staring apathetically at the wall. In an instant, she changed from overwhelmed by feelings, to feeling nothing at all. Why get beaten and bruised when you can not feel anything?
But ignoring everything didn't make it go away. After only a minute or two, she burst into tears. She rolled onto her back and began to cry into her pillow, still pulled over her head.
The letter lay unopened on her desk, waiting for her.
