Long post short post or none at all

Ok in your opinion what kind of post do you like to type read ect.

I would prefer a lengthy post with a point then a short post with no actual purpose, like this one.
if you don't have the intelligence to finish a post... oh well, I guess you shouldn't respond to it. No big loss there, you probably wouldn't have replied intelligently anyway.

some poeple love to write, and have stuff they want to share.
some people just love to write.
others, just want to share something, or get something off their chest.
it isn't a question of letting someone else reply... especially around here... you'll notice things tend to go off topic quickly...

or maybe you are running on an idea as its coming off the top of your head...
I have a tendency to do that, just write down what comes to mind, which will lead to something else, which will lead to something else...
and, so I write what I feel like. I tend to write shorter posts of late though, mainly because I am lazy.

Even an obscenely short post can contain a message, or make a point. Not everything requires a long-winded 1200 word reply. As for things tending to go off topic...well, I don't think its much of a problem. As long as the discussion flows logically, and hasn't become spammy, it'll be left open. I could point you to any of a number of other alleged 'forums', where off-topic involves a lot less than OB's standard.

Maybe you do just write as things come to you, but if you don't have any kind of direction for your post, it's pretty difficult to reply to.[/size]

I don't know if anyone's noticed, but there are quite a few members whose post size is large for the sake of being large. I've read posts that just go in circles until it ends and ultimately, you have a post that the thread neither benefited or was hurt from. You'll see this most in controversial threads, where someone wants to input their opinion and look big, but in actuality, they say nothing. "I have no strong feelings either way." However, because of the pointlessly large size of the post, people don't pick up on how pointless the post was, and go about praising it for its inertness.

It's annoying to read so many of these, especially when you are skimming around for some good content.[/COLOR]

I like posts that have commas when the poster is using a list. I also like posts that make a clear, understandable point.

See, even RiflesAtRecess' post was short, but she still answered the question you asked. Personally, I could care less about how long a post is. Just so long as it fits, it moves the thread along (espeacilally in the rps), and it has a point.
