who wants the battle arena back

i have recently asked james our site director if it was possible to reinstall the battle arena.

i really liked it, and i know a lot of people did, so i want to ask you if you want it back.
maybe if enough people vote for it to come back it might help.
so i will keep it brief and say:

Though I can understand that other people like it. If you were going to put it back up, I'd say it should be a sub-forum again, like before.

[SIZE=1]I don't see the need to have the Battle Arena back, personally. It was taken away becuase of all the threads posted such as: i challeng [user name] 2 batul!

You can still 'battle', all you need to do is set up a sign-up thread, telling people the setting, weapons to use, all the rules. It makes it much more easier, yes there is less battles, but the Battle Arena was full of spam, and that is why it was brought out. In my time at OB now, I haven't seen much worth-while battles that took place in the Battle Arena.

I'm sorry, but my vote is to leave the AA as it is, without the Battle Arena.[/SIZE]

You can still spar in the Adventure Inn. I've noticed spars making a reappearance recently: notably the Blade Masters threads, a series of one-on-one spars that I think constituted some kind of tournament...?

My point is that there still is a Battle Arena, it just doesn't have a separate area to itself. You can still spar, whether it's called the Battle Arena or not.

[SIZE=1]The reason the Battle Arena was taken away in the first place is because it was, frankly, a spam fest.

You can now make quality spars and tournaments in the Adventure Inn, as Blackjack said, and I think it's helped improve the quality of the Arena exponentially, which is what James was hoping for in the first place.

Really, the Battle Arena let the massively high quality of the Adventure Square (Ah, the old days) down, I think we should keep it as is.[/SIZE]

The battle arena was the lounge that I posted the most in, so, yeah, I kinda miss it a little, but once I became aware that I can battle in the Adventure Arena as long as the threads are actually coherent, I found peace in the loss. As said before, the area was getting quite spammy and crowded with amateurous fights and spars, and moving the whole idea into the format of the Adventure Arena has made it manditory for all spars to be 'good', to the point where it can be read.

So, as long as spars are decent in there content, then the Battle Arena isn't really necessary anymore.

(I do, however, miss those good ol' rap battles that used to run for 13+ pages. The good old days...)[/color][/size]

[SIZE=1][COLOR=Blue]I think he is completely right. I remeber checking the Battle Arena from time to time and I remember seeing one thread like "Goku fight". Just by the title I knew this thread was going to be a bad one.

Once I clicked on it the introduction was a sentence long and none of the requirements the thread required were there. It was simply a Gragonball duel, thank goodness no one actually agreed to duel that person.

So as you can see the Battle Arena wasn't such a succesful thread. I vote is to keep the Battle Arena out. Sorry.

Alright. I'm up for bringing the battle arena back but there are some things that need to be changed about it from before. I read through some of the battles back then and it was disgusting to say the least. Why? It was full of spam and there was so much god moding in it that it wasn't even funny.

Back on my old message board Xionbox I had quite a few members who were extremely interested in battling. One in particular member was a problem becuase he didn't understand the meaning of no god moding and would exceed the limits set. This became increasingly annoying and I ended up banning the member after several warnings and punishments. I realized that this was a problem because he was creating only fights were he challenged people.

I believe this was becuase battles attract noobies and noobies can act dumb at times. I don't know how the battle arena was set up but I don't believe there was a subforum for battle sign ups. I think if we try to bring back the battle arena we should make it similair to the Adventure Square and Adventure Inn.

We could ban battles that were challenges and instead have such classifications in the sign up as to how many people can join. I've found that battles where there's a well constructed backstory and motive for fighting do succesful without any traces of god moding.

I'm serious about bringing the battle arena back. I want the administration to really consider this. Give the battle arena a seocnd chance.

And what's keeping you from starting a battle like that in the Adventure Square? The spar-specific sub-forum may have been removed, but sparring itself was never outright forbidden.

I have mixed opinions over bringing the Battle Arena back, On the one hand It was a place where we could have a bit of fun without worrying about the high quality RPGs that we could do but on the other hand, As it has been mentioned The BA was a Spam Fest. I think it could be bought back just keep it moderated strictly to stop spam. What I wouldn't give to have a go at a rap battle again.

[size=1]I would love to have the Battle Arena back. I used to spar a lot, and it helped to release tension, cliche as that sounds. Of course, I do remember the n00bish battles - I had a couple myself. Our rules weren't half as strict then as they are now, however, so if we chose to bring the Arena back, it would be more controlled.

(I also agree with Mugen and the Monster; what I wouldn't give for a Rap Battle thread... despite the fact that I sucked royally at rapping. ^_^;)
