Shi no Tenshi
lmao. Really. I have never encountered any stereotypes at any educational instution I have ever attended. It may seem impossible but it's true. Or maybe I lack the stereotype gene that allows me to be prejudice against a person before I talk to them simply by labelling their clothes. I suppose some people tend to follow trends more than others do, but that's simply personal taste rather than fitting into another level of society. But I'll play the game - I love art, computers, music, reading, writing, socialising, shopping (where it is appropriate), movies etc. I don't like sports, but I do like running, roller skating and cycling. My hobbies include chasing cats and hopefully collecting degrees. The clothes I wear is anything I goddamn please, ranging from modified ripped to crap clothing, all black Lolita corset outfits, neon colours, things from charity shops, things from high street fashion shops, pink, dresses and skirts, low-cut tops... the list goes on. I guess that makes me a super-hyper-geeky-preppy-gothic-punky-nerdy-elite-super-stereotype! Hurrah for originality. The only thing I do stereotype is chavs - mainly because they are the sort of people who collect ASBO's and prison sentences, and are eye-contact aggressive. I have met some decent people who call themselves chavs, but I tend to keep my distance (I know from experience).
RedSkyCoffee
Eh, I don't like to label myself much, but yeah, I fall under 'punk' in a split second.
sakurasuka
I'm not a prep, or a punk. Nor a nerd or a goth. And I'm not one of those stoners, That hides their stash in a sock. I am not a cheerleader, Or a wigger with a beater, Or one of the 'gangstas' With the fake diamond in their ear. I'm not anti-social, Nor popular with all. I hate R&B, And going to the mall. I guess I don't fit, In any kind of role. My mom put it best, "Corey, you're an assh*le."
Hahaha! Omigosh, that realy did make me laugh. It's good stuff there. Also, if one more person says 'I don't like labels, but I guess I'm a goth/punk/etc.' I'll hit him/her in the head with a shovel. *Raises shovel above head*

Esther
Hmm, I find labels degrading. For quite a few reasons.

First of they are a way of putting someone down. It doesn't really matter if your a rich "prep" or a "geek" they are going to break you down no matter what group you fall under.
Second, when you are in a group you automatically can't make any friends outside of that group. I experienced this in high school, some 'ganster' might come along and find that this 'prep' is kind of cool. They can become friends, but then the group from which they hail exiles them for having friends that are not the same.
If your in a certain group another person might come on to you differently, or make a suggestion that is simply a sterotype. On example is, A kid walks up to a goth and says "Do you worship the devil?" That right there can spark a fight. There are several other sterotypes that I can go on about, but I rather nor.
There. I have proven my point, I hope that a lot of you can understand this concept. But feel free to go against it if that is what your instict tells you. I wouldn't be upset, it is your opinion. And according to the rules your are entitled to it.
Genshiken
hmm, is there an "average" choice? I have friends in most of these catagories. I tend to look past the stereotypes for some reason... but what do I know; I sleep thru most of school anyway. :catgirl: ....... my grades suck :animedepr

Panache
I honestly dont care about labels and I generally ignore the one im given (geek) by making best friends with the cool kids and playing sports. But then when i finish my homework I play guild wars and watch the new anime dvd i just bought. So if theres a steryotype for that then lets hear it im all ears. Ai.sAkUrA.chan
my school has (mainly) preps, posers and some jocks, but mainly POSERS. It´s irritating. I dont know what i fall in. Everyone says "oh right, like you´re toatally a stupid punk!"-preps or "Wow, I like sooo love ur pin, it´s sooo adorable!"-posers or "Move it"-jocks. So...i dunno. I love anime. And usually (in my school) u like anime, ur an anime-freak or a loser. Unless...u belong to some high, popular society or something. I like (music): punk, rock, classic rock, indie, spanish electro-pop, techno and trance crap. What would that be? I´m the quiet one in the class, not because i have no frends, but because i just dont really like talking too much. I´m usually the only one working when we have group projects, not to mention drawing. I´m into DDR, and if ur into that in my school, jocks and preps either hate you or make fun of you. Unless you do light (second easiest level)...cause you don´t move much...simple easy steps. But if u do Standard and/or Heavy (which i do) they make fun of the hard, complicated steps. Curse them. Now...posers...one word ANNOYING. They´re everywhere now a days. Sadly, i have two of them in my class. They´re always like, oh i like soooo love that song! Or, that´s so cool! And god, they name themselves "Hardcore Sk8ers"...in my humble opinion, that´s just plain gay and embrassing....but who am i to judge? :catgirl: kitty!! Billy Shears
I won't reply to the general thread itself, but you guys need to stop hyping all over Mexicans. I am reading this thread page to page, and lots of pages has some bash on Mexican people. . I love how some people consider the Mexicans a "clique". Last time I checked, uhh, they were a race. I'm think we seriously need to leave our southern-border friends alone, you damn closet rasicts.
renayiiq
Ok, I'm going to make a point on this whole poser issue. Have you ever realized how many people you can call posers, without even knowing them? Have you ever considered the fact that alot of people might consider YOU to be a poser? Huh? Guess not. Well, wake up. We've got bigger problems on this earth than calling everyone a poser. Poser this, poser that. WTF?????????????! Can't you just accept that people will be what the hell ever they want to be? Whether or not they see it as a fashion statement or a way of life, who cares? Why are you suddenly a poser when you dress how you want and your style changes constantly? I didn't know that wearing all-black one day and wearing funderful bright colors the next was a social faux-pas. Get over it. *mutters to self : self-absorbed morons...*
ladycathren
At my school, there are so many goths, punks, preps, just everything. I really consider myself an outcast because i have my own little group of friends and i don't really care about stereotyping because so many arguments become of it. i guess thats really all. :catgirl:
