James
Marriel, please don't double post. You may want to check the rules about that, just as something to remember in future. I like Baron's post. I'm kind of similar. In high school I was always popular, but not like one of the bad kids who became popular that way. My schoolwork was always pretty good and I never had much trouble with anything like that. But I just sort of knew everyone and I was able to mix with any group at any time. I could sit down with the nerdier kids and chat and then I could go and sit down with the most popular kids and it was no problem. My friends were kind of all over the place, but mostly I'd say none of them were really nerdy or anything. Some of us played video games and stuff, but usually our leisure time was about going to parties and stuff like that. Still, playing games didn't suddenly make anyone an outcast, lol. So yeah, I don't know what group I'd fit into and I don't think Australia has the same kind of group classifications as America. On the one hand I always did relatively well academically, I played video games and spent time online and all of that nerdier stuff. But on the other hand I played some sport (hockey was my thing) and socialized, etc etc. *shrug* In my school, there were kind of the really nerdy people and then "everyone else". I guess some were more popular than others, but we didn't really have all of the distinctions that American high schools often seem to have. Although obviously there are even exceptions in America, which is good. I think the atmosphere is a lot better when people feel free to mix with one another, without any boundaries.
PAche
well...letssee...my school has basically a few stereotypes.nerd, jock, pai kiah (means bad-kids in hokkien and they're usually more well known, or rather notorious),popular kid(through good way),loner, and me. i think i'm the only person that falls into the me category, thats why i called it me :animeswea .why?because i am half into the jock stereotype(i excel in most sports i try), half in the popular kid and an extra half in the loner. i got lots of friends which put me in the popular kid part i guess yet i'm not exactly close to anyone in particular, putting me in the loner section. thus the birth of the category "me" oh, and i might be classified as nerd too, considering how close i am to my computer.in a way i'm like james, being able to hang out with just about anybody and nobody

ArunueShekamari
When I was in high school, none of the boys would come near me, all the chicks were afraid of me and I had few friends. Not like I wanted any. Only one boyfriend my throughout high school. I guess mostly I fit under goth because of looks and the personality, but ironically enough, I was the biggest geek in the school. I knew more about computers then the teachers. Straight A+ student and never studied a lick. I beat the **** out of so many kids though. I guess I looked threatening too. Come to think of it, the fact that my brother often picked me up after school might have gotten alot of them to hate me. Big brother's boyfriend's got some really expensive cars. I guess they thought I was rich. Poor jealous kids. Kids are extreamly sterio typical these days. It warms my heart. :P
NashvilleDream
I'm in the "Don't label me or I'll make a sorry attempt at kicking your ***" group... XD My school is ruled by the preps and the jocks and the populars and I HATE it >.< really, it's torture. We have goths and skaters and punks, and we have a fer overly religious peop-le too, but they're like 5% of the population T_T My friends and I, we're the "Unlabelables" lol... really, we don't fit anywhere, and we like it like that ^_^

Dhampir Nyoko
Okay, for anyone who wants to know, here is my idea of the differences between cliques: Nerd: Basicly, very smart, glasses, pocket-protector... doesn't exactly need to be associated with a computer. Out of style, usually. Geek: Computer dude. always at home surfing or looking up porn. Not exactly smart, but is good at things like fixing computers and viruses or glitches. Gamer: Doesn't need to be smart, or good at computers, but just likes to play videogames. GBa, PS@, X-box, Nintendo.. the works. Usually not good grades, spends too much time gaming. Viper0529
I am very hard to classify, or so I have heard. I love video games. Gamer, right? But I also lettered in football, track, and swimming...Jock? I hang out with all of the strange outcasts, loner? I love hard rock/metal, Goth/punk? (I know that it is a cliche that people who like metal are goths, but that is what I was called once). I daydream a lot...daydreamer? I have had several girlfriends...player? not really, but ok. I am kinda a little bit of everything I guess, so it is hard for me to reply. My school is in Upstate Pittsburgh...which really sucks. It is full of the "Emo" children...who annoy the heck out of me. They keep saying how much their life sucks and how they are going to kill themselves and how no one would miss them. All of the women are fat and all of the men are annoying as sin..except for me and several others. So, my school life is ruled by people who worship Green Day and Fall Out Boy (If you like these people, no offense, it just isnt my cup o' tea). Oh well, rock on. Cat
People like to say that I'm goth. Not just because I wear black and that stuff but the way I act is what makes my friends thinks this. I have also been called nerd because I was in the top 10 of my classes. I have also been called Punk, Loner, and Gamer.
mary no jutsu
hmmm well i guess i would fall in the category of geeks i mean the people i hang out with go to either our math teachers class or the bandroom for lunch. but then at our school everyone is friends wih each other it doesn;t matter how you dress just how nice you are but there is alot of racism at our school. the only time people don't get along with each other is if that person acts stupid or mean or as some people say "do to much". Baron Samedi
Does anybody else find it amusing that practically everyone here classified themselves as being unique and 'Unlabelable', whilst everyone else at their school was practically carbon-copied from stereotypical moulds? Does it lead anybody else to the conclusion that perhaps everyone is unique, and that the only reason stereotypes are applied to people is because of their outward appearance and manner, but not necessarily the person beneath the trappings?

And this really popular guy who was in my Chemistry class and my best friend's english class who once started crying about having to keep up apperances in their english class. He meant in school in general but it happened in english class. grecords
In highschool I believe I fell into the category of POKEMON MASTER! Thats right I was all about the gym badges. I even had the Pikachu Tamagochi thing that gained points by walking. My friends reached the max and mine didn't. So mine was crushed by a hammer because it just wasn't fair. I guess the only other category I fell in other than that was None. I really don't fit into any of the groups as I refused to be stereotyped. Even at my own expense. Kanariya
It's funny. I don't even pay attention to these stereotypical things. I make friends with people who seem nice to me, whether they are "punk", "prep", "nerd", whatever. I'm popular, but not in the "prep" or "jock" category, stuff like that. A lot of people know me, that's it. No one calls me anything, if I am anything, it's the "Stupid pervert who should shush and get a life." Honestly, the people that bug me are the people who look beautiful, and complain about themselves being ugly, and they cut and all that crap. Somehow, a few of those people managed to be my friends, so I guess I could say I care less about it though, it's not something that bugs me every day. Maybe I wanna help them, I have no clue.

I never fit into any crowds such as Nerds, Goths, Punks or popular kids. I had a lot of friends in each but I never went out of my way to emulate them in terms of dress or style. If you were to categorize me I would probably be a Gamer. However this wasn't a valid stereotype in High School, and no one besides me and my friend openly admitted to being as such. Darker Alucard
People shouldn't be stereotype'd. I'm at 8th grade, and I thinks stereotypes are just another way of discrimination like racism or Xenophobia. but the system encourages it. I'm at a rich school and everyone likes the system. my mum does everything she cans to keep me well fed, well educated (she's like a working class hero). The system is not perfect but those rich kids won't get it. when I explain this to other 13 year olds like me they outcast me along with a bunch of kids. They put me in semi-gothic weirdo stereo, because i talk with the other outcast about how the end will be, write dark poetry and lyrics and my favourite coulour is black along my hair being Raven-Black Hair, all natural. they also put me on nerds for Having Straight A's at various disciplines, and having no D's nor F's. They also sayn i'm a freakin' pervert because i like hentai but, unlike the other perverts, that see it like a Mastorbatory haven,i apreciate Hentai, because of bodys drawn by japanese artists. They also say i'm a gamer because i pass any game they dare me to. It's easy for me to date girls from these groups, and girls from other groups come to me bu in a hide-out.. However evrybody fears me. they thinks i have dark powers. ( it's because of the revenge i made to a couple of guys). if anyone one wants to know the story just PM' me. Oh and the Popular\Gangsta rap group rules the school. They kinda put the stereos on people to.

Ryoko T.D.C.
ok! i'll tell! i'm a dork/nerd! T_T i'm not all that nerdy, but i can be dork, and yet i hang out with kewl people. well, actuallu, i hang out with like, 3-4 different groups. one group has four friends in it, one is a big-boobed brainless blonde (no offence to blondes out there, she just gives blondes a bad name) who only thinks of herself, another is the one that gets all the guys but is really nice, another is also gets the attention of guys but is still really kewl and nice, and the last one is like, the absolute kewlest one! she listens to HIM and CKY and we always poke fun at eachother at how we have the HIM and CKY stuff (right now she has most of their CD's while i have the merchandice(sp?)). the other group is like, the best group to hang out with. there are metrosexual guys who are the best guys in the world, punk people who are the nicest, and like, other great nerdy people that i get along great with. i also have older friends who are kewl, like one guy is going to be a senior and i'm so happy i know him (one less person to pick on me ^ ^). but, me, i'm the kind of person that you hate, but can't. you just can't not love me. yeah i'm a little nerdy and can be the biggest dork in the whole wide world, but i'm everyones best friend. i'm short, i mean come one! what's cuter than a short person (ok, maybe a short person with a puppy)? i do love anime like everyone else here, but i deffinetly don't show it at school unless its in my drawings and i bring them to school. i also love playing video game like any other nerdy person would, at least i think...but that's about it on me and my friends. really long........... :animesigh
Kenji
Stereotypes are always interesting especially since they change constantly not only among the school but everyone drifts through all different types of stereotypes. IN highschool I was probably placed as a band nerd my freshman year just cause I played the drums in band. By my second year I was stereotyped as a nerd since I made good grades, and would talk about the different philosophies posed by people on Time Trave (actually a very intriguing conversation on what time travel would be like). By my junior year I was in the surfer/slacker category since I would go surfing most of the time and didn't do much in school (slthough I still made good grades). Near the end of my junior year I was deemed the loser since I wasn't preppy and not too athletic. Senior year I was placed in the stuck up genius category since I made great grades, slept in class, and was already taking college classes. And now as I start my second year at college every single preppy kid and jock knows who I am and talks to me, everyone at my hometown can't stop wanting to share information about the parties that my friends and I have and go to. It's really like I became popular once I left town. So that's when I realized that stereotypes just define your interests at a specific point in time. Sure if you like sports you'll be labled a jock, but it doesn't mean that you can fall into more than one category like the band geek who plays on the soccer team, or the goth kid who is the valedictorian. Guest Vampirepunk
In this thread you could talk about which sterotype rules your school, or which type you think you fall in, or what do you think about them (Nerds, Geeks, Weirdos, Punk, Goth, Popular Kids........etc.) As for my high school, there's mainly Goths, Punks, Nerds, Popular Kids, and of course the Jocks. I don't have anything against the sterotypes, and I think that without them high school would suck, because they make high school more fun. Especially with all the unique people and their own theories. However I don't like the jocks, the popular kids, posers, and thug-want-to-be's! Why? may you ask, well because: 1.) Jocks always have to off, plus I find them to be really snobby 2.) Popular Kids act as if they own the school, as if they got the right to judge people they have to be so snutty, teachers love them, and plus a majority of them are boy-crazy and girl-crazy ( they can't control their hormones!) 3.) Posers are the sort of people that keep on evolving constantly which gets annoying. Ex. 1st their punk, then they are a jock, and then their goth, then all of a sudden their cowboy out! Weird! 4.) Thug-want-to-be's have some special connection with posers for reason So once again: "In this thread you could talk about which sterotype rules your school, or which type you think you fall in, or what do you think about them (Nerds, Geeks, Weirdos, Punk, Goth, Popular Kids........etc.)"
Me im in the punk Goth groupe and i love it alot soo all u jock and others plzz dont bother us(J/k) :p
