Anime favorite and least favorite anime songs

Okay, so I'm looking at my mailbox feeling unloved when I decided that I should start a thread in the....

Okay so what are your favorite and least favorite anime songs and why? Please tell why. It doesn't help people to say: I hate Tuxedo Mirage soooooooo much!!!!!!!! Actually I think it annoys them. And yes you can list dub songs

Well one of my absolute hated anime songs is without a doubt The Sailor Moon Theme song (thank you DiC and CWi :mad: ) Let's just face it the song is dumb. And it's a bad choice for the begininng of the first season when Sailor Moon doesn't know about Jupiter, Mars Mercury or Venus. If she doesn't know them, neither should the audience. And it's also not fitting for the third season because what about poor, Neptune, Pluto and Uranus? Not even a brief mention.

The original Moonlight Densestu or Moonlight Legend isn't really my favoprite either, but maybe just because the song was the opening theme song for every season except Stars (season 5) But anything is pallatable after the 'sailor moon theme song'.

To get off the Sailor Moon song wagon I'm going to add My Will to my least favorite anime songs. I don't know why. I guess the music just wasn't catchy enough fo me.

On topic, favorite would either have to be Fullmetal Alchemist's first closing (I loved that siren sound at the end of those episodes) or Neon Genesis Evangelion's opening. Both of those rocked.

My favorite song, ever since I first heard it on Toonami those many years ago, is Obsession, the opening theme to .hack//SIGN. Even thinking about it now gives me chills down my spine (good music does that to me). Even my second favorite, which is the Outlaw Star theme, doesn't come close.
As for the one I despise, that would definetly be the ending theme to Reign the Conquerer, or whatver its called. I didn't ever like that show, nor its song.

Hmmm...I have a lot of favorites actually. "Yasashii Yoake" from .hack//SIGN, "My Will" from InuYasha (I thought it was catchy...), "Pleasure Line" and "Sayonara Solitaire" from Chrno Crusade...

I can't stand it when dubbing companies change the theme music. Look at the 4Kids fiasco! They either sing the entire plot accompanied by a key-tar or sing about something totally unrelated (a la One Piece). Horrible! I'm also not so hot on Fushighi Yuugi music and the constipated guitars that accompany Dragonball Z and the movies. My ears bleed. ;.;

I wouldn't mind American anime companies changing the theme songs on their aquired shows if they didn't change them into these poppy pieces of crap. I hate Rave Master's closing.

I forgot to say which theme song I really, really hate. Its a tie between Rurouni Kenshin's opening and Elfen Lied's opening. RK's OP fools me every time into thinking that a cool song is about to start, then that dumb b*tch starts singing and it just goes downhill from there. EL's OP is just depressing. If you ever need help going into a state of depression, listen to EL's OP.

I could never like the opening song [I]Rocks[/I] from Naruto. Its the very first opening song you ever hear and I just dont like that song at all. It just reminds me of crappy 80's rock that just isnt appealing to me.

Hmmm. As for my favorite anime themes, I really liked Orange Range doing the opening theme for Bleach. I didn't care too much for the opening or closing themes in Samurai Champloo, but the music during the episodes were great. Tracks like "Tsurugi no Mai" and "World without Words" to name a couple. School Rumble also had really catchy opening and closing themes, I had the closing theme by Yuuko Ogura stuck in my head for weeks. And although its not an anime (it's a game for the PS2) Katamari Damacy had a mindblowingly good soundtrack, i even went out of my way to import the CD.

As for bad soundtracks, im really flexible with my tastes in music so i really haven't found one in an anime that i thought was horrible.

[COLOR=#95055E][SIZE=1][b]Mameshiba[/b] from Earth Girl Arjuna: Standard J-pop, but there's something really different with the song that made me fall in love with it the first time I heard it. Maybe it's the vocals or the acoustic guitar at the beginning, or maybe because the lyrics [i]actually[/i] make sense, I don't know. It's a great song to listen to when I'm feeling a bit down. Yep, yep. ♥

[b]1/3 no Junjou na Kanjou[/b] from Rurouni Kenshin. Yeah, RK opening songs can be really annoying but I absolutely love the ending songs, especially this one. The beat's really, really nice and I can't help but giggle at "My heart!!!" ♥

As for theme songs I hate, I've only a few (I'm the type of fan who'll love each and every theme song of a series just because I ♥ the anime). [b]Half Pain[/b] from Witch Hunter Robin. Yes, it probably sounds depressing 'cause it's Witch Hunter Robin but come on! It makes me want to drop everything I'm doing and go to sleep. It's [i]that [/i] strong a sedative. I've always thought that ending songs are supposed to be impressive to leave the fans wanting for more but Half Pain is just plain depressing.[/SIZE][/COLOR]

[COLOR=Olive][SIZE=1]I can't really name song name's since I don't pay much attnetion to the titles and such. However, I found myself enjoying the FMA theme and/or beginning song. I think it goes well with the show and shows off the characters quarks and begins the show well. I dislike the opening song from Samurai Champloo. I think the opening is really great, its just the music is tedious and it could've been chosen a lot better. Probably the funniest opening song I've heard is for Dragonball GT, it seems as though Goku would prefer a "Glock 9" to the original Ki blasts lol.[/SIZE][/COLOR]

would have to be the one song from any anime that I absolutely hate. That stupid thing puts me to sleep everytime I hear it, just can't stand it. I mean what was the writer thinking about when he wrote that!?!
Ahem. Other than that one song, I pretty much love any other anime song that you throw at me. But, I think my favorite would have to be Kiseki no Umi from Record of Lodoss War, probably because that was the first anime I had ever seen (pokemon aside) and that was the opening song...it just kind of stuck with me. Seconding that one would have to be the ending song on Evangelion I think it is called, Those women longed for the touch of others' lips, and thus invited their kisses....0__o; That can't be right...don't take my word for it... Oh hell, too many songs t olist, but my current fave is the opening to Air. If you want to read why I like it, look for other song threads to find out why.

As for my least favorite, It would be the English opening to Escaflowne. It was all trance-y and whatnot, but it gave nothing to offer an insight to the story like the original opening did. Just the english dubbing of Escaflowne makes me cry in frustration.......

Speaking of Escaflowne, I strongly dislike the ED ("Mystic Eyes")--just listening to it makes me cringe. Musically, it just doesn't fit the show in any way, shape or form. I would have greatly preferred something softer & more introspective.

Big O's OP is also less than inspiring.

As for songs I like, pretty much anything by angela is good by me; that includes Asu e no Brilliant Road, The End of the World and Kirei na Yozora (from Stellvia), along with Shangri-La, Separation, Fly Me to the Sky and Proof (from Fafner). I also love nearly all of Hikaru no Go's vocal music.

Two in-show songs that I found particularly memorable are Aozora from AIR--I start to tear up whenever I hear it, which is a little unusual for me (to say the least)--and Toki ni Ai wa, from the Revolutionary Girl Utena movie.

Goodness, I really can't think of my absolute favourite anime theme. I have so many... I guess Chrono Crusade's [i]Tsubasa wa Pleasure Line[/i] is the most prominent one that comes to mind. In terms of its vocals and the instruments actually used it's fairly average, but there's something about it that puts it at least in my top ten. [i]Sayounara Solitaire[/i] (the ED theme) is one of my all-time favourite songs ever, though. I think it's a lovely ballad in all aspects- lyrics, music, vocals... I love it, hehe.

The Final Fantasy: Unlimited opening and closing themes are ones I really enjoy, too. [i]VIVID[/i] is incredibly lively and [i]Over the FANTASY[/i] has a lovely feel to it. There've been times where I've listened to each of them about three times over before being satisfied with hearing enough, heh. Luckily, I don't seem to get sick of them.

Now, for the [i]least[/i] favourites...

I can't say I really liked the English translations of the Rayearth themes. Trying to fit English lyrics to a Japanese theme is a commendable achievement, but I don't think it really works- some of the sentences are really dodgily made in order to fit.

I'm not actually a great fan of the Naruto songs. I like Ima Made Nandomo, but the others I didn't find particularly inspiring. The last OP and ED themes from Rurouni Kenshin (the second half of the Meiji arc) weren't nearly as good as the others, either- I always skip them.

Yeah, otherwise the worst one I can remember is Big O's OP. It's just... silly.[/COLOR]

Ok LOVE (can not stress that enough!) :D Super Drive from Gravitation (thanks alot Dagger!) Another one I just start strangely humming, Agreement from One Piece, I don't know it just hits me some times. Most of the Kenshin closings they're mainly good. I must say I HATE most the Inuyasha closings :sleep: ... except Come! One that just bothers me (to the point of screaming at the top of my lungs) is the us opening for One Piece, it's just so **** annoying! But not to bash all U.S. openings, you gotta love Rave Master's opening theme!

[color=lime]Oh...well I hate techno. And of course the theme for my fav anime has to be techno. Really annoying techno at that. Cloud Age Symphony the Last Exile theme... So basically, I used to hate the friggin song, always got stuck in my head and then it annoyed me to the point where I actually liked it. I think it's also the fact that it puts a good imprint in my head! :P ......So I guess...it's my favorite...and least favorite...at the same time! I also like the theme for Gunslinger Girl...I forget the title though....which is kinda sad seeing as how it says it in the opening sequence...but I haven't watched it in a while so ya.
