Guilty Gear: Rebirth of Outrage

Magical Science

In the early part of the 21st century, scientists discovered a new source of power, which promised unlimited, pollution-free energy for all. It was labeled ?magic.? There were four types of this magic, based off of the primal elements of nature: Fire, Lightning, Wind, and Water. These were the elements officially recognized as being part of Magical Science. However, there was a fifth element, the element ?Ki.? Very few people had the ability to use it, most of who were of Asian descent. The abilities and powers of Ki cannot be duplicated or harnessed by machine; so while Ki is one of the types of magic, it is technically not part of Magical Science.

In the years after its discovery, Magical Science quickly proliferated, becoming the ultimate technology. The old technology?the crude machines that raped the earth and threatened to turn humans into nothing more than fleshy cogs in a giant machine?was banned by most of the world, labeled as ?Blacktech.? However, Magical Science would end up unleashing a horror upon the world that eclipsed anything ?Blacktech? had done.

Gear Project

The original purpose of the Gear Project is unknown, lost in the fog of war and the shadows of time. These Gears were supposed to be a means to further evolution?in that they are not themselves a separate species, but an altered one. An existing being can be transformed into a Gear by binding Magic to its DNA, or those Gears can be created from scratch. Gears can be created from any animals, be they lions, whales, dogs... or humans.

In 2016, the first true Gear was created. A scientist by the name of Dr. Frederick Angheiz, an American, was turned into the prototype Gear. Afterwards, the Gear Project mysteriously shut down, its researchers and facilities vanishing overnight. The now-Gear Frederick disappeared, and his exact fate is unknown (at least as far as official records go). The Gear modifications imbued Frederick with enormous, seemingly infinite power, as well as stopping his aging process.

However, shortly after Frederick?s disappearance, stories began to circulate about an extremely powerful and skilled bounty hunter who seemed to appear from nowhere, as suddenly as Frederick had vanished. And all thoughts of Gears were dispersed in the silence following the Project.

Outrage

Among the head scientists on the Gear Project was a man known only by the name ?That Man.? In 2073, Frederick received word that the United States of America was restarting the Gear Project, in secret, headed by ?That Man.?

When Frederick learned of the reborn Gear Project, he began work on a massive Anti-Gear weapon: the Outrage. The only person who knows what the Outrage is truly capable of, however, is Frederick himself; its creator has been the one person to see it in its true form. The Outrage was created in eight separate parts, the Jinki. Each of these Jinki, or tools, was designed to amplify the magical powers the user possessed.

The eight Jinki are:

Fuuraiken (Thunderseal Sword?Thunder Element) [Sword]
Fuuenken (Fireseal Sword?Fire Element) [Sword]
Zessen (Stopping Fans?Wind Element) [Fans]
Senga (Flashing Tooth?Water Element) [Sword]
Ekitoku (Increasing Fervor?Fire Element) [Battleaxe]
Kojouhaku (White on the Lake?Water Element) [Trident]
Senhoshiken (Thousand-Star Sword?Wind Element) [Sword]
Getsu no Kuroi (Black of Moon?Thunder Element) [Whip]

However, the Outrage?s true potential is unknown, as it has never been used in its ultimate form, save once...

Justice

The purpose of the new Gear Project was different than that of the original. This time, the purpose of Gears was not to provide a means of furthering evolution?but to act as bioweapons. In order to ensure that the Gears would follow orders, they were designed to have no free will, to run on instinct, to be completely obedient.

The production model Gears?those that were mass-produced under the program?were successes in this regard. They would obey without question, not caring about themselves or about any aspect of life other than fighting. However, they were just production models, all the same, all inferior to the Perfect Gear that had come before them.

This Gear was named Justice. As the first True Gear, Justice possessed more power than practically all the rest of the mass-produced models combined. The power of Type 01, as she was code-named, was absolute. Yet Justice was different from the mindless puppets that came after in more ways than sheer power. Whether this was intentional on the part of ?That Man? who created her, or whether it evolved within her naturally is unknown, but it is a fact that Justice came to possess free will.

She was the first Commander Gear, the most powerful. The Command-Type Gears would be able to give the lesser Gears around them some semblance of free will, to direct their power towards certain ends. Through her power, Justice transformed some of the more powerful non-production models into Sub-commanders. They too had a form of free will and could control the many lesser models, yet they were but relays in a chain. Justice had the power to create them all, and she had the power to control and override them all. Without the Sub-commander Gears, normal Gears would relapse into their obedient state; without Justice, the entire chain would collapse.

Whether Frederick knew of Justice?more specifically what she was capable of?or not is also unknown. It is clear that Frederick, wielding the Outrage, attacked the research facility in an attempt to kill ?That Man.? The Outrage?s one and only use was here, where it delivered a powerful, near-fatal wound to the newly born Justice.

The attack failed, and the Outrage was split into the eight Jinki once more, which came under the custody of the United Nations. Yet Justice did not escape unscathed. The immensely powerful attack weakened her so badly that she only survived through the aid of a powerful, mechanical battle-suit, which she wore from that point on.

That battle-suit would become a feared and hated image in the mind of humanity from then on. Justice rallied all the Gears that had been created, and led them in rebellion against humanity. And thus began one of the darkest periods in human history?the Crusades.

Crusade

In the year 2074, Justice?s forces struck quickly and powerfully, unleashing their might upon an unsuspecting world. Their first act of war was to attack the island nation of Japan. Those few who witnessed the carnage and survived to tell the tale were forever scarred, unable to put those horrible images into words. Japan was all but obliterated. The cities fell to the might of the Gear onslaught, crumbling into burning rubble. The few Japanese survivors were placed in camps, to prevent the extinction of their race?which had been all but wiped out already.

That initial, crushing attack will always be remembered as the most vicious of the Crusades. Humanity was unprepared for the tide of war, and they were overwhelmed. Yet the humans refused to succumb without a fight. Resistance sprang up, eventually forming cohesive groups that warred against the Gears.

By far, the most famous of these groups is the Sacred Order of Holy Knights. It was founded in 2113 by the legendary blademaster Kliff Undersn, who is the only non-Asian to fully master the use of Ki. At a young age, he had been saved from a Gear attack by an amazingly skilled anti-Gear bounty hunter. Kliff resolved that he would one day save people in need like the mysterious bounty hunter had done for him. So he created the Sacred Order to fight the Gears. And the Crusade continued, a cycle of destruction.

No one was left untouched by the sorrow of the great war. Kliff Undersn?s stepson, the Holy Knight Tesu Undersn, was captured during a raid... he was never heard from again. Yet the now-aged swordsman refused to let the despair overwhelm him. The war raged on...

It was the year 2174. If there was good news for the human side, it was the presence of two new powerful warriors in the Sacred Order. One was the young yet brilliant swordsman Ky Kiske, the Frenchman who even at the young age of 14 was appointed as Kliff?s second-in-command. The other was the enigmatic, taciturn former bounty hunter who went by the name Sol Badguy.

Ky and Sol

If there was one thing that the young Frenchman despised about Sol Badguy, it was his nonchalance. Ky himself trained and studied the use of magic for hours upon end each day; it was through these rigorous exercises and his own considerable talent that he managed to attain his impressive power in battle. The blond teenager was highly charismatic and intelligent, a master strategist?those qualities, along with his loyalty and morality, were what caused Kliff to select him as his successor.

While Sol was no less intelligent than Ky, he simply didn?t seem to give a damn. The bounty hunter frequently bordered on insubordination, rarely following orders. He never trained, never sought to increase his power. But what infuriated Ky Kiske more than anything else?even though Sol never studied nor trained, even though Ky worked daily to become a better fighter... Sol was always more powerful. Whenever the two fought, Sol would inevitably end up walking away, leaving a defeated Ky on the ground. Sol never took him seriously, which caused Ky?s rage to build.

Since it was the most official faction representing humanity in the Crusades, the United Nations gave the Sacred Order two of the treasured Jinki?the Fuuenken and the Fuuraiken. Kliff Undersn wielded the Thunderseal until his retirement as the head of the Holy Knights. The ancient swordsman received the massive Dragonslayer blade, and passed the Fuuraiken as well as the leadership of the Sacred Order to the then-16-year-old Ky Kiske.

Shortly after the leadership passed to Ky, a fight between Sol and the Frenchman escalated past what was considered normal for a training duel. That night, Sol Badguy left the Sacred Order, taking the treasured Fuuenken with him.

Sol Badguy

The theft was not a theft per se, however. Sol Badguy was merely stealing back what was rightfully his property in the first place. Shortly after his initial transformation into a Gear, the scientist Frederick took to wearing a band on his head. This band contained a device known as a Gear Cell, which suppressed Frederick?s Gear form, allowing him to remain in a human state. It also sealed away the vast majority of his power, yet he was still far beyond any other, even in his sealed state.

Sometime after the beginning of the Crusades, Frederick took on the name Sol Badguy, and devoted his life to the hunting down and killing of all Gears. It was he who had saved the young Kliff Undersn, and it was he who had been recruited by the same Kliff Undersn into the Sacred Order. With the Fireseal Blade, which he himself had created in the first place, Sol Badguy left the Holy Knights.

The Fall of Cliff: Testament

One of the problems with the Gear forces, as Justice saw, was that they lacked true free will. The Gears took orders from the Sub-Commanders, who in turn took their orders from Justice herself. If any major change were to take place in a battle plan, it would have to come directly from Type 01. While the Gears had the advantage in terms of sheer battle power, this lack of versatility was one of their biggest weaknesses?one that led to several defeats.

To remedy this, Justice decided to create a new class of Sub-Commander Gear. These Gears were either created from humans who had been captured, or were created using genetic data gathered from corpses of fallen warriors. These Gear/human hybrids had power far greater than that of the normal Sub-Commanders, as well as possessing greater free will than any other Gear save Justice herself.

If there were a flaw in this plan, it became readily evident. Several of the new hybrids rebelled, breaking off from Justice?s forces and forming their own faction. The ultimate goal of these rogue Gears was the destruction of Justice, yet they were not averse to attacking humans?and humanity rarely held back, even against the Gears not allied with Justice.

While the presence of this new faction troubled Justice slightly, the Queen of Gears still had many of this new breed of Sub-Commander Gear on her side. One of which, her right-hand man, had been created from the captured Holy Knight Tesu Undersn?Kliff?s son. This new Gear, who went by the name of Testament, became almost as feared as Justice herself.

When rumors of Testament reached the ear of the ancient blademaster, Kliff knew that he had to stop what had become of his beloved adopted son. Ky Kiske found out about what Kliff was planning to do, and set off to assist his former master in any way possible. Although he was utterly unconcerned with either Ky, Kliff, or Testament, Sol Badguy realized that this was the best time to strike at Type 01. And so, the five warriors?Ky Kiske, Kliff Undersn, Testament, Sol Badguy, and Justice?converged on an ancient battlefield.

The Fall of Cliff: Grave

What purpose the monument served in the days when Japan was a living country is now unknown. After Justice?s forces swept through the city of Kyoto in that initial onslaught, however, its purpose changed. It became a tomb. The endless stairs that climbed up to the scorched sky were still stained with blood, were still scarred from the battles that had taken place there. Nothing lived in that godforsaken path to hell, which made it a fitting place to die.

It was there that Kliff Undersn, the strongest warrior humanity has ever known, met his adopted son in combat. Testament was Justice?s second-in-command, and had every ounce of the power that would be expected as such. The battle was fierce, forcing both parties to call upon every ounce of their courage and strength.

Forces that cannot be explained with mere words shook the sepulcher. The battle raged for the better part of a day, with neither of the two gaining the upper hand. However, in the end, even the might of Testament succumbed to the power that Kliff held within. The powerful Gear fell before the man who had been his father... and yet, Kliff spared his life.

The aged warrior had not seen the desire for humanity?s destruction on Testament?s face. A burning pain lurked within the young Gear, the power of Justice?s command. Rather than kill his adopted son, Kliff turned his sights on Type 01 herself, who had been watching the entire battle from the top of those battle-scarred stairs.

Kliff and Justice had fought sixteen times over the course of the Crusades. They were equally matched in power. However, the master swordsman was weakened from his fight against Testament...

There, upon the tomb that led to the scorched skies of heaven, among the ruins that were once a city of hundreds of thousands... Kliff Undersn fell.

Meet Again

Maddened with grief over the loss of his mentor, the young Ky Kiske charged Justice, yet even the brilliantly skilled swordsman was no match for the Queen of Gears. Ky?s final, desperate, Ride the Lightning was interrupted by a powerful energy blast from Type 01, and the young knight was downed. Yet the current that young Kiske had channeled had shorted out the battle suit that Justice had worn?and the control along with it.

Before Justice could kill the unconscious human, though, she was stopped by a figure from the past: Sol Badguy. Then, she shed the armor in which she had been trapped in for a century, and the Angel of Death spread her wings. The full-power Justice was easily able to defeat the Corrupted Flame, however, as the bounty hunter knelt at her feet, Type 01 realized that his power, too, was sealed. With a swift blast of electricity, Justice broke the Gear Cell on Sol Badguy?s forehead, releasing the Perfect Flame once more?

Type 01 met her prototype on the battlefield. After an eternity of combat, the Angel of Death was victorious over her demonic counterpart. Yet before she could finish the job and kill Sol, she was interrupted by a stranger, an elegantly dressed man smoking a pipe. The man, calling himself ?nightwalker,? halted all of Justice?s attempts to wound him, yet did not retaliate. He informed Justice that this was not the final battlefield, and it was not the final confrontation between Alpha and Omega yet. Justice retreated from the Grave.

Likewise, Sol staggered to his feet, intending to kill the ?nightwalker.? However, the old man retreated, leaving Sol with a simple haiku.

The next to awake was the knight Ky Kiske, who had watched the entire fight from a semi-conscious haze? realizing that Sol was a Gear, he climbed to his feet, lurching at the wounded Sol, intending to kill him. Even in his weak state, Sol was able to defend himself from the wounded Ky. Sol left the young boy with the message that he alone was the hope of humanity. He alone was the hope of the world? and then Sol left, and Ky promptly passed out.

Aftermath: Dizzy

When Ky Kiske awoke, there was no one around him. There was nothing living around him, and there was nothing dead around him. Even the body of Kliff Undersn had mysteriously vanished. Despairing, Ky managed to stagger back to the world of the living...

Justice, under the cover of the fog of war, had retrieved the unconscious body of Testament, as well as the corpse of humanity?s greatest warrior. She returned to her hidden sanctuary, where she proceeded to nurse her own wounds as well as those of her second-in-command. Justice constructed a new armor based upon the one she had previously shedded, except without incorporating the Gear Cell into the design.

She harvested genetic material from the body of Kliff Undersn, and used that material?combined with some of her own DNA?to create another Sub-Commander Gear. This one, unlike all the others, contained some of Justice herself. So as one might expect, the new Gear was impossibly more powerful than any other?save Justice herself. This, Justice?s ?daughter,? also had true free will. She was not merely a Sub-Commander, she was, like Justice, a true Command-Type Gear.

Justice named this new creation Dizzy. Dizzy?s first act was an attack on the most heavily defended structure in the world?the United Nations. The sight of the winged Gear shrugging off attacks that would have killed practically anything alive will forever be burned into the minds of those who survived.

In that attack, the six Jinki still in the possession of the United Nations were lost. They were scattered across the globe. Thankfully, none of them fell into the hands of the Gear forces... Ky Kiske returned with the Fuuraiken and the Fuuenken that Sol Badguy had left behind. They are absolutely necessary to ensure the survival of mankind.

~~~
In a quiet drove, away from civilization, sat Sol Badguy, nursing his wounds. He was fed up. That Knight, Ky Kiske, had taken his Fuuenken, thinking it belonged to the Knights. Wrapping a gause bandage around his left arm to stem the slow bleed, he pondered what to do. Applying medical tape to his arm, the flexed a few times, and leaned back.
Sol knew what to do. He had to go get Fuuenken back. That was the start. Then...the others. Justice was weakened. Testament was near death. Kliff...was dead. Sol was weak too. And that "Nightwalker"...with the simple haiku. That really aggrivated Sol.
Standing up, he loosened the Gear Cell, then took it off completely. The Corrupted Flame was Perfect again, just for a minute, as the wounds snapped shut. Quickly, he put the red headband, with the words "Rock You" on it, back on, resealing his Gear powers. Back to the Courrupted Flame.
Walking to the entrance of the cave, he grabbed the sword that he aquired in substitue for Fuuenken. It was a rectangular blade, similar in design to Fuuenken. It had a fraction of its power, however. Sol's firey innate ability was the only thing that had awoken it in the first place. The words, "Fuck You", were in a slash type writing, the same look as on his headband.
Pushing the door open, into the barrens, Sol went on a midnight theft, stealing back those that were rightfully his.
---
OOC: Alright, its up. Sol went to get the Jinki, and now has all of them. Plot's moving kind of fast, you thinking? Well....tune in and find out. When a certain, ENOURMUS event occurs, everyone will find out their Jinki.
Post. NOW.
"Mi...Miiiimariiii..You can't run from me Mimari, Your weak Mimari. Your feelings make you weak and that is your downfall. You have failed Mimari just like your father! AHHAHAHHAHAHA!" Justice clenches a hand tight around Mimari's neck. "Uhhh l-let g-g-go of ....uhhh me!"
"AHAHHAAHHHAHAH, you've failed you've failed!"
"Nooooooooooooooooo............"
Mimari's eyes snap open, she grabes her neck as she gaspes for air, "Just a dream" Her eyes travel across her room, making sure no one is around.
"Why, why are these dreams haunting me, I'm not weak.... I will not fail"
Mimari restlessly gets out of bed, walking over to the shower she turns on the hot water. She steps in letting the memories of the dream wash away with the water. She sighs looking at her hands "I don't know how much longer i can keep this inside of me. Father why did you have to leave me!" falling to her knees tears stream from her face. "No no i will not cry, i can't. I am not weak."
Mimari turns off the water, stepping out she pulls on her uniform. "Its still early" She thinks to herself.
Looking out the window Mimari gases at the war torn land.
"I will not fail you father.....
Is she flirting with me?
Kyo decided she probably wasn't. From what he'd seen of Captain - of May, she had that quirky happiness around the whole crew. He grinned back.
"S'pose it is a little weird," he replied. They started walking back towards the sky-ship's wheelhouse. "Um ... who exactly is this April we're looking for?"
"I'll show you when we find her," May replied playfully, quickening her pace so Kyo had to really stride to keep up. He decided he liked the Captain - she seemed just as free-spirited as he liked to imagine himself to be.
"May! Looking for April?"
The voice came from a girl with flying goggles pushed up on her forehead, perched precariously atop the wheelhouse. To Kyo's surprise, she looked Japanese.
"Follow me!" the girl cried.
Kyo and May both grinned despite themselves. As the Japanese girl disappeared over the top of the wheelhouse, the two of them gave chase.
"Take this!"
Vengeance's foot collided with the face of another Sub-Commander that was part of the Renegade Gears. His name was Virtue. He had jet black hair, red eyes, and wore a crimson trench coat. The two were sparring. Virtue slid into the wall, almost smashing through it. He jumped up and lunged at Vengeance, who grabbed Virtue's arm and flung him over to the other side of the room. Virtue growled and grabbed an axe off the wall. Vengeance laughed.
"Weapons now, eh? A'ight, les' go!" Vengeance raised his hand, and a plume of flame shot his blade, Feuer Bersten Säbel, into his hand. He gripped the blade with both hands, and grinned at Virtue.
"Have at it!"
Virtue spun the axe over his head, letting it gain momentum. Vengeance watched, waiting for him to make a move. Virtue took the initiative, swinging his blade at vengeance's legs. Vengeance jumped forward, landed, ducked underneath the twirling axe, and struck Virtue with the back of his blade. Virtue snarled, and swung around, bringing the axe down with an unearthly force. Vengeance swiftly dodged it, but the blow caused the ground to split, and lightning to spring up from it. Vengeance summoned his sheath, sheathed his blade, and put it back at the side.
"Alright. That's enough for today. The other Sub-Commanders need a turn in here." Virtue nodded and dropped the axe. They walked out together, and went to the bar. They had taken a tavern as their base, so it accomadated them perfectly. Vengeance bought driks for the two and they sat down. Virtue looked to Vengeance.
"Where do you think Sol has disapeared to, anyway?" Vengeance just shrugged.
"Doesn't matter. He'll come back when he's good and ready. Yup, yup, the good doctor'll come back in time..." Vengeance took another sip of his beer and leaned back in his chair, relaxing. Vengeace had heard Sol leave, but wasn't interested in knowing where he was going. Virtue wasn't satisfied, though.
"He's our leader now! He shouldn't just jet like that wit'out tellin' us where he's off to." Vengeance waved his hand too shut Virtue up and took another swig of beer.
"We worked well wit'out him afore... Yes he's a great asset to have," he threw in, noticing the look on Virtue's face, "but we can't rely soley on him. Our goal is to destroy Justice and Dizzy. It's not like we're completely helpless wit'out 'im. So don't worry. Anyway, somein' tells me that by the time dis is all over...He'll play a major part, so we can be assured whatever he's doin' now is for the good of us all."
Vengeance opened his mouth to say something else, stopped himself, and drank some more beer. He liked Sol, he had to admit it, and his power was amazing. Sol would help them in the long run, and that was good enough or him. He finished his beer and stood up. He turned, smiling to Virtue.
"You wanna head into town?"
The night air was soft but not calm. Something stirred the once tranquil current of the breeze and caused Neutria to become aware that someone was moving through the night and moving quite fast. Then, something else stirred the serenity of the night; it felt as if it were a group. Neutria felt the winds and believed it to be humans and gears that lurked through the dead of night, echoing their actions as they did.
?I wonder what sorts of adversities I shall meet tonight. Only way to find out is by lurk the shadows.?
Leaving with a smirk on her face, Neutria managed to jump from a high roof and land safely on the ground. She straightened herself before walking away from the alley and disappears into the shadows. She was agile and silent, just as the falcon is at night. She was able to come out on the other side of town, while grabbing a few things on the way, but leaving money for the poor.
As Neutria walked through the desolate town, she became thirsty and decided to have a drink. Luckily she was near a local tavern and walked in, eyes suddenly located themselves at the entrance and found Neutria. This had not made her uncomfortable or even weary; it had made her feel nothing. She was indifferent to everything around her and merely took a seat at the counter. A bartender attended to her and she asked for the best drink in the bar.
What a quaint, little tavern. Her drink was served and Neutria took a sip. It pleased her mouth and she was soon seen taking shots of it. What a wonderful drink. It is delightfully tart and zesty. Quite delicious. Though, these men that approach seem to want something.
Never wrong, three men had approached Neutria and had blocked her in. Several people began to murmur and whisper, while others watched intently on what the woman might do. Two of the men placed an arm on the counter, while the other stood behind Neutria with his hand on her shoulder. Neutria waited patiently for them to leave.
?What?s a pretty lady like you doing in a bar like this? Why don?t you come out with us and we?ll show you a better time??
?Yeah, we know how to party until the break of dawn.?
Silence hung in the air and Neutria was still drinking the house specialty as if there was no tomorrow. The men were getting quite anxious and impatient with her. The third man, who stood behind Neutria, soon removed her headphones and put his hand across her back and onto her right shoulder and leaned closer.
?I don?t think ya heard us right, sweetheart. We said for you to come with us. We?ll show...?
Groaning, the third man was on the ground, clutching to his manhood. The other two looked to Neutria, who still drank the drinks that kept coming. They looked to each other and tried to grab her but the two were soon entangled by Neutria?s whip. At this moment, the spikes were in a dormant state; therefore, it was safe... for the time being. When she cracked it, the men were spun outward and fell on top of their friend. Neutria still drank whatever it was she was drinking and paid no attention to the three.
Kaze sat on the wheelhouse, whistling a light tune and leaning on her arms. She thought about the years she had spent in a camp because her parents were killed from the attack of the Gears.
Suddenly Kaze saw a pair of people walking along, she grinned and called out to them.
"May! Looking for April?" she asked the girl who she recognised as second-in-command.
She swung her legs up and stood on top of the wheelhouse. She looked at them more carefully, she realised that the male was Kyo, he was Japanese for sure, but she wasn't sure about May, she looked Japanese, but no one knows for sure, except Johnny.
"Follow me!" Kaze called out happily, jumping off the other side from where they stood.
Kaze ran quickly, peeking over her shoulder to see the other two following her. Kaze was glad, her parents had been killed when she was younger, but now she had a new family, the Jellyfish Pirates. Most of the crew was made up of females, but there were the odd men around, like Kyo.
Kaze led them into a doorway and through a number of halls, she had great stamina and could run for a long time and long distances. She turned a sharp corner and ducked into another doorway. She slowed down and eventually stopped, extending her right arm with a flourish and a bow, pointing toward one of the other crew members.
"How'd you know where April was, Kaze?" May panted slightly.
"Don't really know." Kaze said cheerfully, she had some special sense that she could find people if she thought about them, no matter where they were.
Kaze rested her hands on the two weapons tied to her belt, her left hand on her dagger with the head of an eagle on it, and the right on her wakizashi. She leaned backwards and her back bone popped as she stretched.
OOC: The thing about finding people is just a new thing I decided to add to Kaze's skills, along with her stamina.
Sorry if I don't post much, my computer's not working too well at the moment. Hopefully it'll return to normal next month. I'll post whenever I can though.
May looked at her best friend and first mate, April, who was leaning on the railing of the ship and gazing at the sea. May held a finger up to her lips, signaling that Kyo and Kaze should keep quiet. She snuck up behind April, and doing her best impression of Johnny, May said in a deep voice:
"Daydreaming again, first mate?"
Startled, April turned around and saluted. Then, realizing who was standing in front of her, she ran up and hugged May.
"May, what are you doing here...Your hair!" April said in surprise, as she grabbed a few strands of May's hair and examined them.
"It's..it's blond!"
May smiled and nodded.
"I bleached it so it would be more like your's and Johnny's. What do you think?"
April smiled and gave May a thumbs up.
"So what did you need me for, May? Or did you just want to talk?" April asked.
"Actually...we got shore leave. I was just about to annoucne it to the crew. Do you want to go to town with me?"
"Do you even have to ask? I'm in. So you have to announce it again? Which means Johnny left early, huh?"
May sighed and nodded. She looked over at Kyo and Kaze.
"Do you guys want to come with us?"
Kyo declined and said he would catch up with them later. However, Kaze said she would go. May smiled.
"Alright then, I'll just make the announcement, and then we can leave."
After a few minutes of talking, April cut the engine to her boat.
"What are we stopping for?" Kaze asked April.
"May is going to ride the rest of the way on her dolphin, Tsunami." April replied.
April looked over to May, who was frantically searching for something.
"I guess we'll see you in town, May...What are you looking for?"
May bit her bottom lip.
"My swimsuit...I must have left it back on the ship." May said, frowning.
"Should we go back? Or you could just ride the rest of the way in the boat with us." April suggested.
May shook her head.
"No, the ship's too far away, and we'll waste our shore leave time if we go back. I would just go with you two, but I always ride on Tsunami. She'll be upset if I don't." May sighed.
"I'll just go without it, since it's only you two here. But wait for me before you go into town."
April blushed and nodded, as May undressed and handed the first mate her clothes.
"Take good care of it, it's new. Johnny gave it to me" May said, smiling.
She whistled, and Tsunami swam up to the boat. May waved to April and Kaze as Tsunami started to dive.
"I'll see you guys before we get to town!"
OOC: Just to let everyone know, I, with Ichigo's permission of course, changed from playing I-No to Anji Mito. My new sign-up is in the Inn already.
A soft wind caught Anji's dark brown hair, ruffling it slightly in the sea breeze. He smiled and closed his dark eyes, tilting his chin up to let the cool wind blow over his face and neck, a refreshing feeling this early in the morning, especially after not sleeping.
He kept his fans hidden under his robes, tied to his waist by a light and barely noticeable belt. He had to be careful no matter where he went...especially after finding out that he was a wanted criminal by that bounty hunter. Even his past friend, Chipp Zanuff, had turned against him in all this turmoil.
'All I did was survive...' the smile was swept from Anji's usually kind features and was replaced by a sad frown, his eyes stinging slightly as the memories of his homeland being destroyed caught up with him again. They usually only haunted him in nightmares, but lately he was getting them during the day too, it was beginning to wear him down.
He heard a soft footfall behind him and turned sharply, hand poised at his hip, ready to grab one of the Zessen Fans. It was only a little girl, and she looked just as nervous as he did as she stepped forward, a little dog held firmly in her arms.
"Mister? Are you okay?"
Anji relaxed and fixed his warm and welcoming smile back in place, spreading out his hand casually to show that he meant no harm. "Yes, I'm fine, what good manners you have."
The girl smiled now and she let the dog down and it quickly scampered over to lick at Anji?s outstretched hand. The man smiled and petted the puppy softly, happy that there was still some innocence in this world.
"What are you doing out here, mister?" the girl spoke up again, edging closer to the sitting Anji as she did so. "Anou....I was just...thinking."
"Was it a bad memory? You looked sad."
Anji flinched slightly and the girl noticed, blushing immediately as she realised what she had said, a sad frown spreading over her rosy cheeks. "I'm sorry" I didn't mean..."
"It's okay." Anji stood and rested a hand on the girl's head, ruffling her shoulder length blonde hair, "Is there somewhere in your village where I can stay?"
OOC Just to let you all know that Anji isn't half way around the world from everyone else. I don't mind where you want to put him, but if someone wants to bump into him, then feel free. Just remember, he?s on the run from the authorities because he?s Japanese. And about the Chipp reference, I found out from playing that Anji taught him Japanese but Chipp eventually tries to take Anji in?.explanation finished.
Vengeance dragged Virtue outside and smiled. It was beautiful outside, and he had been locked up inside for a couple days. Though he was outside for pleasure, his two blade's were with him, one at his side and one on his back. He never let his guard down. Virtue had his axe perched on back, but was still standing at the front door of their base. And he didn't look very happy. Vengeance chuckled.
"Was' wrong, buddy?" Virtue smirked and growled at Vengeance.
"Sholdn't we alert someone to that we're leaving? We actually shoudln't be leaving at all--" Vengeance shot a fireball at him, scorching his pants. Virtue frantically danced to put it out, while Vengeance rolled with laughter. He drew the flame back to him and wiped his eyes.
"Look...I'M GOING. You can stay if you please. I'll be back in due time." Virtue huffed and turned around, walking back in. Vengeance just shook his head. Good man, but a little to uptight... Vengeance smiled, ran his hand through his hair, and continued walking.
He didn't walk long, however, before running into a young man and a little girl. The young man ruffled the girls hair.
"Is there somewhere in your village where I can stay?" The little girl looked slightly confused, and thought for a second. Vengeance walked towards them.
"I know a place where you can stay." The man turned to him quickly, using one arm to sheild the little girl, and using the other to reach for something at his side. Vengeance held his hands up.
"Ey, ey. Don't worry. I'm jes' offerin' a place to stay. My treat...So long as your not for Justice..." The man frowned.
"So you're not partial to Gears, eh?" Vengeance broke out into laughter. He took a step forward and shoved his hand out.
"My name's Vengeance. Sub-Commander Gear of the Renegade Gears, at your service." The man opened his eyes wide, and smiled. He took Vengeance's hand and shook it.
"A Gear, eh? Well, my name's Anji Mito. You said something about a place to stay?" Vengeance grinned and nodded, then pointed off to the East. Anji looked over, and shrugged.
"Yes?"
"I'm going into town for a bit. Gonna' have a couple drinks, get me somein' to eat, then I'll head back to my base. That's where you can stay. But you'll have to come with into town, alright?" Anji nodded and smiled.
"Sure. I'm kind of thirsty myself. So where are we going?" Vengeance smiled.
"A place called the Fallen Angel Inn. It's got good grub and drinks th--" The litle girl tugged on Vengeance's pants.
"The Fallen Angel Inn? My mama and papa own that place! I'll bring you there." Vengeance and Anji smiled. Vengeance pat the girl on the head.
"Was' your name?" The girl smiled.
"My name's Sandy. And my doggie's name is Gere. Come on, lets go!" She grabbed Anji's hand and Vengeance's hand and pulled them along, Gere running behind them.
In the Fallen Angel Inn, sat a British heritige young man with long blond hair, and a bandana. He was drunk, to be straight. Drunk with happiness and scotch. And some rum. And vodka. Axl Low wasn't a man to drink, but tonight was a good night. He had taken out group of still loyal to Justice Sub-Commander Gears.
Sitting next to him was a man named Virtue. A Sub-Commander that had broken away from Justice. Axl was here celebrating with them, having consumed several different types of hard beverages. But Axl had a high tolerance, and it would take much more to get him drunk.
"Did good today, killed a few o' thems Justice's Gears. My kusari gama has limitless range, so they never stood a chance." Axl said to no one in paticular, mostly to everyone around him. His kusari gama was looped through his beltloop, the metal sickles shining softly. Axl patted them with his hand, and went back to the beer he was currently consuming.
Wonder where Sol went...just upped and left. Oh well. I was hoping to learn Tyrant Rave, Version Alpha...oh well. When he gets back. Axl tipped his beer back, the last of the contents pouring down his throat. He set the bottle down with a small clunk, and sighed. It was too quiet. Not even the occasional banter was loud. They needed some music, so Axl got up on the stage.
"Anyone got a mike, two guitar players, a drummer, and a bass player?" Several people came up, and soon Axl had a ragtag band together. Tying the bandana around, smoothing out his long blond hair, going over the music, Axl went into a rather unknown song for this time period.
"Welcome to the Jungle, we got fun and games
We got everything you want, honey we know the names
We're the people that can find, whatever you may need
If you got the money, honey we got your disease..."
The song carried on for about another five minutes, and with a symbol clash, from the tools that had been invented long ago, the 1987 song by Guns N' Roses ended. Axl was drunk with another thing now. Pride. He stepped off the stage to cheers.
?Delicious. I thank thee for the drink. Here?s the money with interest and tip. Good day to you.?
The man looked at the amount of money that Neutria placed on the counter and was wide-eyed. He couldn?t stop mumbling to himself about how grateful he was and whatnot. It then occurred to Neutria that she had nowhere to rest or spy or do what she does best, which is quite unknown. She turned around and looked to the bartender who still smelled the bills in his hand. When Neutria approached him, he immediately asked if she wanted anything and said that it was on the house.
?So, what?ll it be?? He seemed quite eager to please Neutria. ?I?m sure there?s something you like. I?ll give it to ya. I?m just thankful that you gave me this money. Without it, these guys would be ripping me off, ya know??
?Where could I find the nearest rest area and is it possible to have a bottle of that wonderful drink??
Smiling the bartender first gave Neutria a bottle of the drink and then he informed her of the Fallen Angel Inn. She thanked him once more and left the tavern in search of the Fallen Angel Inn. The bartender had done her some good for she found the inn but she also found some of the Jellyfish Pirates, a Japanese fan dancer- so she believed, and possibly a gear commander.
?Oh what joyous taste this doth brings. And how I enjoy speaking in this Shakespearan language, it is truly captivating, though I do enjoy merely speaking a refined style of speech. No matter, ?tis still but a pleasing sight to find Johnny?s pirates and gears together.?
Upon entering, Neutria had bumped into someone who walked out. He turned and apologized but Neutria brushed it off, yet she knew his face. She passed it off as nothing and walked in to grab a room before they had run out. She was intent on practicing and studying before she ventured out and battled or did whatever.
Walking up to the registry, the Japanese man stood there before she did. Neutria studied him and watched his movements. They were graceful and dance-like, perhaps her statement before was right, perhaps he is a dancer of some sort. Then she saw that he carried large fans and it appealed to her that this man was a fighter. She smirked and surreptitiously made her way forward without being known and spoke with the man first. She was given a card key and a package that waited for her.
When Neutria turned around, she bumped into the Japanese man purposely, knowing that they would make contact and she would have more definition as to who he was, though he would not know that.
The dockside end of town was full of shops selling trinkets, charms and keepsakes. Kyo wandered absently, soaking up the pleasant, friendly atmosphere. He picked himself up a small silver pendant in the shape of a dolphin on impulse, and wandered deeper into the town, whistling to himself.
Nearer the centre of town the shop windows full of knick-knacks gave way to tavern signs swinging gently in the breeze. As he progressed, the taverns got increasingly fuller and rowdier, until he caught a strain of music carried on the wind.
"Welcome to the jungle, we got fun and games..."
The music was a style Kyo hadn't heard before, and he followed the sound, intrigued. The sign outside the tavern showed a white-clad figure descending to Earth from a cloud; the blocky script underneath read Fallen Angel Inn.
The music stopped, to a spontanteous round of applause. Kyo pushed the door open to see a lean, British-looking man jump off the stage and take a sweeping bow.
The Fallen Angel was packed, but two groups stood out immediately to Kyo. The first was sitting at the bar, merrily drinking and consisted of April, May and Kaze; the second was joining in the applause for the English singer.
Gears.
Kyo's right hand reached across his body to the left of his belt, where his chain was clipped, and took hold of the large, wickedly curved, sharpened hook. But almost instantly he relaxed, having noticed on the clothing of the Gears the insignia of the Renegades.
Kyo ordered a round of drinks and slid them expertly along the polished bar surface towards his shipmates.
Kaze sat with April and May, those two drunk while she preferred to keep away from the alcohol, liking to always be in an aware state which alcohol prevented. She applauded as the singer finished, the song was enjoyable and a new type of music she hadn't been experienced to. She looked at April and May who were laughing loudly and drinking, she smiled and laughed at a joke, she turned her eyes away and scanned the area, there was no sign of Johnny unfortunately.
Kaze's eyes hardened as she spotted some Gears sitting at one of the tables, her hands dropped to her waist where her daggers sat which was more inconspicuous than reaching for the swords strapped across her back. She studied them quickly and carefully and relaxed, resting her hands on the bar again, they wore the sign of being a Renegade.
Kaze heard the sound of something sliding and caught what came across the bar. She looked at what it was and saw drinks. Her head snapped up quickly and saw Kyo sitting at the other end. Kaze smiled and passed them along to the other two and walked over to where he was.
"Thanks for the drinks, I'm sure they'll appreciate it." Kaze sighed, sinking into the seat beside him.
"What about you?" he questioned.
"I don't drink. I prefer to keep an aware mind over an intoxicated one." she answered easily.
"Did you see the Gears?" he asked quietly.
"Yes, they're Renegades so they're safe. What happened with you? Stuck in a refuge camp?" Kaze sighed.
"Yup, had to steal and beg to keep alive. You?"
"Same, didn't take too much from people, just enough to satisfy me. I found Johnny when I was 9, he took me in easily, since most of the crew's made of girls."
Kaze and Kyo sat in a moment of mutual silence, thinking of their previous lives, before the Jellyfish Pirates, even before the Gear attack. It was sad, there weren't many Japanese left because of the Gear attack, that was why Kyo and Kaze were so cautious around Gears.
RRe watched as Sol Badguy quickly moved through barrens. Uneasily, she shifted her weight on the dead branch of the fallen tree. Making a mental note of his pace and the direction of which was going. Thinking of an expiation to his haste, especially with the factor that he was alone.
Keeping her balance she stood up slowly upon the dead tree and brushed her self off. Sliding down quickly small chips of bark began to fly off under the weight of her heal. Crackling into dust underneath her boots. Slowly looking up from the ground to the direction which Sol had moved. Seemingly the man had failed to notice, Re took a single step forwards. But suddenly paused. A small gust had blown and Sol's head had tilted slightly. Re watched as he continued to move a few paces ahead before taking another step.
A thought shot across her, how long could she fallow him? Before a fight had the possibility of emerging. She paused again for a few seconds, watching him walk further away from her. Calculating a safe distance from him. She cocked her head, causing a slight brush of metal to scrape in her design. Sol did not even stop but made threatening gesture with his hand. Re could hear him murmur;
Stop fallowing me, damn it.
Uncertain of what to do, Re hesitated. With little to recall for nearly half an hour away but with the same confidence she could hold him long enough to make a decent report to the leader of her unit. Sol Badguy had already known she was there. She sighed, placing her hands on the small grenade tops. Her other hand ready to take hold the steel tips.
Sol gruned, and didn't turn. He did however, launch of a wave of firey destruction from Fuuenken, in her general direction. He didn't want to be followed. She seemed persistant, as she narrowly avoided it, and threw something metallic at him. Sol let a grin seep through. Turning around, facing the metal projectile, he put his left hand on his hip, and let Fuuenken, the Fireseal blade, rest on the ground, his hand on the hilt, so that the hilt was diagonally pointed at her.
"Outta my way, punk." Sol told her gruffly. Now wasn't the time for distractions. Pulling the large sack of weapons off of his back, he let the Jinki set down on the ground, as he eyed her. Not bad looking. Sol grinned. Made it even better. Gears were his favorite prey, even though he was one himself.
"I do not understand what you mean by the word, 'punk.'" She responded. Sol tilted his head down, brown hair covering his eyes. One of them shined with a reddish light.
"I forgot how fucking stupid Gears were." Sol had slowed down the grenade in order to make that comment, and so he leapt into the air, throwing his right leg out, kicking the grenade out of the air, back at Re.
OOC: I?m back in action, baby! [coughs] Erm? could the figure not be tall? ^_^; I?m looking for an entrance and this seems to be the only one.
IC: With a bounce in her step and fire in her eyes, Miho strode into the inn with purpose. Her air of importance commanded attention, and she tilted her chin upwards as a smirk passed across her lips. Tossing her head, she pushed her hair back over her shoulder and made her way towards the stage. People parted before her like a wave, and as Axl stepped off the stage she waited.
Once the people had calmed down, she moved over to the blonde singer and smiled at him radiantly. ?Nice voice you have.?
Axl looked around and then down at the small-statured woman before him. She saw his eyes attempt to focus before he blinked dizzily. Once his eyes focused on her she saw a spark of awe before it was covered by ego. ?Thanks, babe. And who might you be??
Miho pushed down the urge to laugh. This guy, however talented he might be, was drunk. Not that she objected. ?Mitsuou. Miho Mistuou. And you??
OOC: Sorry for such a short introduction. ^_^;
"Axl, babe. Axl Low." Pushing back some of his long hair, matted with dust and sweat, he grinned again. He looked into her eyes. They seemed to pulse with an inner fire. He knew she had the same type of elemental powers as him. Fire. He looked also at the chain around her waist. Well...mainly the skin that was showing.
"Heh, I doubt your little chain could do anything compared to my kusari gama." Axl took it out from his beltloop, swinging one of the sickles around in the air, the air slicing with a sharp sound. She seemed unfazed by it.
"Your little plaything there...such a fake." Axl, being drunk, got a little mad. He let fire flare off the kusari gama. That got people to back away.
"Hows about this. We have a little fight. I win...get to take you out on a date. You win, you getta do whatever." Axl backed away from her, swinging the sickle ends in the air.
Talking with Kaze about Japan was beginning to get Kyo down. As she reminisced about what she could remember of the place before the Gears razed it, he found himself staring vacantly into his glass, watching the way the air currents in the busy bar rippled the golden liquid.
"How's about this. We have a little fight..."
Uh oh, thought Kyo, recognising the voice of the singer, now slurred with drink. Reflected in his drink he saw two sickle blades begin to buzz through the air. I don't think anyone really fancies a bar brawl while we're on shore leave.
"Kaze, duck," he suggested. She gave him a funny look but slid lithely off her bar stool into a martial artist's crouch on the floor. A large bladed hook zipped through the air where she had been, swinging around behind Kyo; he flicked the chain with his wrist and the hook changed course, angling up, to bury itself in the ceiling, catching one of the sickle blades in mid-flight and pinning it in place.
Kyo turned to face the dangerous drunkard and grinned at him, friendly.
"Some of us are just trying to relax and have a drink," he told the man mildly. The Brit was still holding his weapon, staring bemusedly at the blades buried in the Fallen Angel's ceiling. Kyo tugged at his own chain, releasing the hook, and coiled it at his side where the 'safe' end was clipped to his belt. The singer caught the falling sickle blade with a deftness Kyo hadn't thought him capable of in his state.
"Shall we just try and keep the bar friendly tonight?"
The blonde man stared at him.
[OOC: take Kyo's advice and calm down, or get angry and start a bar brawl. Whatever reaction is fine, I just wanted some action.]
The sickle end of the singer?s kusari gama stuck into the ceiling and the blonde singer looked to the one who had altered its course. Neutria began to make her way towards the bar, pushing through the crowd that backed away from the singer?s kusari gama. Unaffected by what was going on, Neutria took a seat at the bar and tapped the table, trying to grab the bartender?s attention.
She could hear some people murmuring, while the gears could be heard speaking with each other and the Pirates were talking amongst themselves as well. The bartender shook his head and nodded to Neutria who pointed to the drink she wanted. He understood and quickly placed it on the counter, pouring it into a shot glass with quick precision.
With a shot glass in her hand, Neutria turned around and looked around. A smirk appeared on her face as she looked at the people around her. It was as if some force was gathering everyone around, trying to bring them together. Neutria wasn?t sure what that would accomplish but she had a feeling that she may find this quite interesting. With each shot draining into her, Neutria never felt more alive than before. She was one who could hold her liquor faster than most and be able to rise in the morning with the same attitude she brought in. It was strange how she could act that way while others awoke with a pounding headache.
Everything and everyone in the room was so alive, unlike the village she had visited days ago. It was somewhat vibrant and filled with emotions, feeling. Neutria may have been unaffected by what was going on, but she could still feel the strong aura around the room, each a different color, you could say. It was then that Neutria realized her glass was empty.
?Another, please.? The bartender nodded and filled her glass. It then occurred to Neutria that she had heard little about the gears that sat in the bar. She wanted to be informed. ?Tell me, who are those gears??
?Those gears are Renegades.?
Vengeance had been watching the heated tension between Axl, Mistouo and Kyo, but is attention was drawn away when he noticed a beautiful lady walk in. She sat down at the counter and had drink. He heard her say somehing about Gears, and the bartender responded by saying they were Renegade. Vengeance smiled and left Anji with May, walking over to talk to the young lady. He grabbed the seat next to her and ordered a drink. He recieved it and turned to her. He pointed to Axl and laughed.
"Rowdy bunch, eh?" She shrugged and raised her shot glass to her mouth, then stopped. She rolled her eyes over to him and lowered her glass a bit.
"You're a Renegade, right?" Vengeance nodded, taking a drink. He out it down and spun his stool so that he was facing the counter. He put his hands together and leaned his face forward.
"Yah...I'm not one of those disgusting, mindless Gears that work for Justice and Dizzy. They've no right to attack humans like they do." She raised her eyebrow. She turned around on her stool as well, putting down her shit glass and asking the bartender to give her a refill. She just looked at Vengeance, taking in what he said. Vengeance grinned and turned to her.
"Don't mind me. I have forgotten my manners. My name's Vengeance. And yours?" Vengeance raised his glass up in front of her. She smiled.
"Neutria." She raised her glass, tapped it against his, and took a drink. Vengeance did so as well. He put his glass down and adressed Neutria.
"Neutria, huh? Beautiful name..suits you. Is that a Gears name, or a human one?" Neutria looked at him and looked down at her glass, circling the rim with her finger. She took another drink and shrugged.
"Couldn't tell you." Vengeance raised an eyebrow. She...doesn't know? He put his hand on her shoulder and smiled feebly.
"I'm sorry. Must be rough." Neutria merely shrugged and took another drink. Vengeance raised his hand off of her and ordered another drink.
Shrugging, Neutria finished her drink and sat there unfazed. She stopped ordering drink and paid the bartender for her drinks. She looked over to Vengeance who felt a bit uneasy, which gave her somewhat of a pleasure to see. She smirked and looked away, watching the blonde haired singer, Japanese woman, and Japanese man stand in the middle of the room. Neutria sighed and knew that neither was going to fight and instead of wasting her time, she decided to walk up to her room.
Vengeance watched her leave and still drank his drink. She disappeared around the corner and finally entered her room. Neutria took off her whip and twirled it with ease, watching it grab hold of objects in the room and set it down in other places. She then cracked her whip and threw a throw pillow into the air and with her sai, Neutria threw it towards the pillow and it was soon hanging on the wall parallel to the Neutria.
?I haven?t lost my touch. I grow tiresome of these drinks and these towns filled with people. I haven?t seen chaos since I arrived and I grow bored. Though, what makes me wonder is that blonde haired man who challenged the Japanese woman, then suddenly the Japanese man stood between them the two. Does he not want to see a challenge or perhaps he fears for the civilians lives. Alas, I do not know and I wish not to know.?
With a sigh, Neutria took her sai from the wall and placed it in their rightful places. She put her whip on the night stand beside her bed and fell onto the bed. Instead of wondering about chaos and destruction, a resting peace came over her as she closed her eyes.
