the evil of chain letters...

Ok maby some people enjoy them but i am sick of having my inbox full of letters that threaten to "ruin my love life" or something like that unless it is sent to 10 other people (or something along those lines). does anyone else think that they (and indeed the senders) are pointless?

I did respond to (addressed to the origional sender) in which i used lots of bad language and basically told him to stop. I should point out that this guy had started off a ton of pointless chain letters (such as the one stated above) in the course of just 3 days that inevitably arrived to me. suffice to say, i was mad.

However, just 10seconds after sending this responce, I feel really bad. Should I? these letters are a plage to me and the most annoying was a "chain letter against chain letters"....(need i say more). On the other hand, my reply was harsh and im beginning to feel really bad.

so in short, is it ok to be ****** off about chain letters and respond with a very angry e-mail?

If you don't like the guy who is sending you the chainletters, block him. Or better yet, if you use Hotmail, class them all as junk and report him.

But really, I hink you should just calm down. It takes less than thirty seconds of your life to skim an email to see if it's junk or not, and then delete it. Big deal.

Sure, chainletters are annoying. But in the end, if nobody forwards them, they don't become chainletters. Blame it on the people who forward the same crap five hundred times.

^ Seconded.

Hate them to death. They always sound so... fake. Like Hell's gonna break loose if you don't do as they say. Makes for good enetertaiment, though.

I really think you shouldn't have replied with a letter riddled with profanity. Maybe the guy just thought you were interested in chain letters (pointless as they are) and did not mean to put you in a situation that may possibly "ruin your love life", yeah?

I agree that chain letters are annoying. I also think that the best response is simply to delete them. After all that's one less link in the chain if you simply don't send it to others. I have to admit though, occasionally they are pretty funny to read, I espically love the ones that say if you don't do this then you will never get married or some other such dire prediction. LOL

Yeah but my hotmail sends me crap anyway even if i do "junk it"

Whether it be "Coping with drug abuse" or "FW: Send this or die" I still get it even if I class it as junk...but anyway yeah chain letters are the scum of the e-mail network. I bet £50 that eventually the human race will die because our intelligence networks will drown in a gloomy sea of chain letters.... Spooky!!

I don't get that much chain letters in my email inbox. And if I do, I just don't read them. I've got like 300 unread messages in my email inbox as of now. Out of them, I'd say that about only 3 or 4 of them are something close to a chain letter.

If the person keeps sending them to you and you don't want them to, tell 'em. How else are they gonna know not to send 'em to you? Me personally, yeah, I would have went off at them, gone completely psycho... well, maybe not completely psycho, but close to it. But that's just me.

Worst I've had told me my boobs are going to shrink. lol

I got uber mad once but I just delete them most of the time. It's just irritating when I think that my friends are the ones sending these chain mails to me. I have to give them all a nice email once informing them to stop sending me chain mails.

Email is fine and can be easily controlled, but then people started abusing the offline messaging system of Yahoo too. It's ridiculous to get several offline messages saying the same thing over and over and over and over again. lol

So yeah, delete and the chain ends with you. ^_~

I got really mad at Chain mailers once.

Partly because of the letter quality and repetition, but mostly because many people would automatically forward without reading the email.

I don't think it's really worth it to go completely psycho... I take my revenge creativly. ^^
Because I was so annoyed with obviously fake-looking "Hotmail is closing" letters, I took a real Hotmail news letter and changed all the text to match the "Hotmail is closing" theme.
After I sent it to the people who usually send me forwards, I sent an angry note explaining what it was. -.o Come to think of it, I was pretty immature... but eh, that was four years ago.

I simply delete anything with "FW:" in front of it, unless some one has explicitly told me they are going to forward something of import to me.

To be completely honest, I don't check my e-mail, period, unless some one has told me they are going to send something of import to me. (It's then that I delete all the superfluous crap, including chain-letters.)

The worst are the ones telling you failing to forward the message in the next fifteen milliseconds to 5648957398457394857 people will end in the death of some innocent half-goat girl-child with a boob in the middle of her forehead. Aiya.
