Shows You Loved As A Kid

This thread is simply one to help remember the past and the events of our childhood that made us who we are today. I was thinking about this and some of my favorite shows as a kid that I liked to watch. Not necessarily "Barney" or anything, but a little older. I found myself loving the show "Boy Meets World" as a kid. I'm not sure why, but I loved it and just couldn't seem to get enough of it lol. I also remember watching "The Fresh Prince of Belair" as a kid as well. Will Smith is an amazingly famous actor now but seeing him in this role still makes me laugh. So what about you guys? Take a trip down memory lane.

Even though 90% of the jokes went straight over my head, I watched Married With Children religiously when I was five years old. o_O

Though I did watch a lot of the Nickelodeon/Disney Channel stuff back then, I also watched sitcoms and the evening news, just because I was always in the room when my parents were watching them. I remember watching old Hanna Barbera cartoons a lot too, just because there was nothing else on at that time.

I would try to watch Power Rangers, but my brother would always get overexcited and kick me in the stomach or something whenever we did, so our parents cut us off. That was probably for the best, too.. I don't think it's a good thing to watch Power Rangers under any circumstances.

There were two basic shows that dominated my childhood. The first was PowerRangers, which I still think was cool up until the second season. The one show, though, that had me buying every action figure and got my whole family obsessed, and even eventually helped me get into anime was Beast Wars, the fully computerized sequal to Transformers. The action was cool, and they had a lot of kiddy jokes. This was, along with the origional Transformers, the best Transformers series.

My childhood was dominated by cartoons, which isn't very different from my TV viewing habits today, actually. I loved older cartoons such as the Looney Tunes, the Hanna Barbera cartoons, etc. and I watched just about everything that Nickelodeon and WB showed. I watched a lot of cartoons on FOX, as well. Ah, the days when there were actually more than two or three cartoons on television that I liked. My favorites out of the bunch were Rocko's Modern Life, every Looney Tunes short ever made, and Animaniacs.

I never watched any live action stuff, save for wrestling. I loved watching WWF and WCW, and I still watch WWE today. Other than that, though, I didn't watch any live action shows regularly.

I loved Jem and the Holograms. Best show ever! Okay maybe not ever because the problems were solved in a few minutes, but it was a good show. I think my favorite were the Misfits. I liked the episode where they got stuck in the kennel at Pizzazz's house. Ha

I used to and still do watch Golden Girls. I can actually understand the jokes now. I wish they had more shows about old people. But funny ones like that. Nothing depressing just funny stuff.

And Roseanne, how can you not love Roseanne? That show was the closest to real life families I ever saw on TV. Fat dad and mom. Struggling, messy house, issues. I think someone needs to remake that show too.

No more for now

The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo!

I have a deep urge to watch that for the sake of nostalgia, but I'm sure it's probably a hundred times less entertaining than I remember. And I hardly remember any of it all...

Needless to say, Nickelodeon had some good ol' kid shows.

Aside from the many cartoons and there?s a long list for that, I also probably wound up watching certain shows because my parents watched them. But even so the ones that I actually watched I liked were:

The Cosby Show - I watched with extreme delight as I thought Rudy was the coolest!

Rosanne - for some reason I can't remember right now, but I know that I liked it to some extent. Oh, I remember now, it seemed different from most other family type sitcom shows.

Doogie Howser ? I really loved this show and I don?t remember exactly why, but I have fond memories of it.

Murder, She Wrote ? I loved the idea of a sort of lady Sherlock and the fact that she was old made it more interesting. My favorite episode dealt with a murder at some theatre showing of ?Phantom of the Opera?.

Columbo ? This was my dad?s favorite and I soon started liking it too.

I liked Power Rangers, but stopped watching it when I was 8 because it seemed to have lost what made it a cool show to me.

I could tell back then that VR Troopers was one of those rip off type shows, but I still kind of liked it.

And of course there?s all that stuff from Nickelodeon and just about everything on CN back then.

Hooray for childhood TV memories! ^_^

I've heard a lot about how great a show this seemed to kids back then, but I never got to see it because I either wasn't alive yet or I was just learning to crawl.

Power Rangers was my religion. My brother watches it just like I used to and it's fun watching it and remembering, "I bought that!". The movies actually had jokes so that the parents wouldn't be bored for the entire thing.

Beast Wars was good. I watched in second grade and was very confused when my friend Matt brought over Optimus Prime.

I also loved rugrats. Not enough to buy videos, but enough to still watch it today.

All That was good with the originals: Kenan, Kel, Josh, Lory Beth, Gabriel, Amanda. The recent reunion show had me in tears, reminding me just how much I wanted box sets.

Besides All That, my favorite Nickelodeon show will always be Hey Arnold! A new episode of Hey Arnold would rank up there with Las Vegas and Family Guy today.

Boy Meets World was always in the line-up, maybe not when I was young, but a fair while ago. Looney Toons was there aswell, I'm sure.

I can't really remember that far back in my life. I'm really struggling to remember what I watched on tv. I know the WWE (formerly known as WWF back then), and the WCW were also in there. I remember watching WCW on the channel TNT ages ago, that channel has since been put-off-air, or abandoned, or changed, I don't know. But it was a fair while back, I know that.

I think it was mostly anime, way back. I remember sitting down with my little brother to watch Card Captors and Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon way back when. One thing that really shaped us growing up though, was the Simpsons. We never missed an episode.

My bro and I pretty much do the same thing now. I'll pop up some popcorn and he'll get out the icecream and we'll have a little sibling-hang-out-day and sit in the basement in our night-clothes watching the seasons over and over again, laughing. Simpsons are pretty much the only things we connect on anymore, sadly. *sigh*

I also still watch 'Kiddie shows'. I find television a great way to settle down any little kid that I may be babysitting after a few hours of running and playing. It helps them go to sleep. A good thing for me!
