Who is your favorite Soul Calibur 2 fighter?

Maxi, although not the coolest in my opinion, is the character I'm best with. He's so quick I've beaten everyone I've faced at least twice without getting hit at all, and seldom do I lose, not that I can remember anyhow lol. Characters like Kilik have long range but it's easy to get around them and attack a weak area. While using Maxi it's easy for him to shift an attack from one direction to another and deflect or counterattack the enemy. On characters like Nightmare he's almost unbeatable, since they're so incredibly slow, you can do 3 attacks in the time it takes him to swing his sword once lol. I've seen people defend Nightmare and I assure you I can use him just fine, he's just not my style. He's the stereotypical "strong yet slow" character and although his attacks are powerful, there are remedies to every one offering numerous ways to dodge even his best attacks.

My second choice would be Mitsurugi. He's obviously popular here and for good reason. His attacks are powerful and quick, some of the best in my opinion. He also has numerous stances that are able to increase his own attack power or throw the enemy off-guard. However, he has a lackluster defense and a lot of his attacks leave you open to a blow from the opponent.

Ivy would be my third choice. Her sword is deadly and you can win the fight without even moving from the starting position lol. It actually shakes people up a bit since her attack length is so long and even when you think you're safe you have to be on your guard. She is incredibly useful and most people are oblivious on how to avoid some of her better attacks leaving her with unbelievable physical potential.

Personally, I like playing as either Talim, Ivy, Voldo, or Nightmare. I'll explain why.

Talim - She's wicked fast, to a point where she can literally run circles around bigger, slower characters like Nightmare or Astaroth (although I cannot recommend doing so in battle x.x). Don't underestimate those tiny little wrist-blades; they hurt like none other. I've also noticed that some characters have attacks that carry themselves straight over her head, so she's automatically immune to some attacks from people like Astaroth and Necrid.

Ivy - She's got range to be matched only by Link, and I don't own a Gamecube. Her various stances can be fluidly chained together to perform an amazing variety of combos. Then there's the satisfaction of actually pulling off one of her two insanely long 'special' moves - and the subsequential damage it deals. The fact that you almost automatically begin a match with a quarter-health-bar advantage due to her 'poke' attack right in the biginning, which is surprisingly difficult to counter, despite how obvious an attack it seems, isn't that bad either.

Voldo - Because he's fun. Most people will tend to win because they manage to get their opponent in a sort of lockdown on the floor. Can't do that against Voldo; he spends over half the match on the floor anyways! It's surprising how much people have to change their fighting style to adapt to fighting a character that's actually stronger when he's laying down. This, combined with the fact that he's got, like, fourteen stances, all of which he changes in and out of more often than some people blink, brings his combo factor to the closest to 'infinite' that you're gonna get in this game.

Nightmare - He's Nightmare. While that right there should explain everything, there's no harm in going over it again. First off: the Ow factor. Nothing lays a smackdown on your opponent quite like a face full of Soul Edge. That combined with nearly infinite combo potential lays waste to most opponents within ten seconds. Secondly: He's way, way faster than should be legal for a 'heavyweight' fighter. Lastly, the coolness factor. I have literally won games against humans opponents using Nightmare's sheer coolness, by just running at them. They just ran away and, consequentially, ringed themselves out. Note that this strategy only works while you are using the default costume. Yeah, it's just that damn amazing.

The only problem I ever have is against Maxi, due to his quirky, here-and-there fighting style. And does anyone besides me have any respect for Assassin?!

Hmmm...for me...it's either Mitsurugi or Taki....each for different reasons....=-P

Mitsurugi-'Cause I love anything pertaining to Samurai. XD And He's the guy I used to complete the majority of Weapon Master Mode with.

Taki-Well, she's a friggin' hot ninja chick...What more could I want?! =-D

No, be we all love and respect Hwang. He was the first character I ever played as in Soul Edge/Blade.

To other people:

I find Maxi to be a great character, but he's unreliable compared to some other characters. Unless you're specifically a Maxi player, you have no idea what'll happen when you press that button! Many say that Yunsung has the best kicks, but they must have forgotten about Maxi, his kicks come out of nowhere and usually set the opponent up in the air to be juggled with even more kicks.

Voldo is the man! I've just started really playing as him and getting good with him. I mean, come on, he can do the worm! He also walks like a spider and can juggle people right out of the ring by humping them! Crazy.

The next character I gotta work on is Mitsurugi, I never really liked him or played as him much. He has a lot of moves where you have no idea when they're gonna hit when you see them.

I prefer Talim myself - I find her movements to be extremely quick. The button combinations are also the easiest to learn. My favorite of her weapons are the crescent blades - Their balance is fair, and defense is good.

I also like Night mare, just because he's got a really big sword. :animesmil I don't use him as often, but he's still fun.

Cervantes.

Cervantes is by far my favourite Soul Calibur 2 fighter, why? Well there is a lot to say about that, he is faster compared to a few characters, and probably the fact that when I played as him I owned Link in 3 strikes each round.

>>;;

Cervantes is my compatible character, I play best with him, but another character that I enjoy playing as is Voldo, simply because he looks cool, and his moves and weapons are too cool.

My fav Soul Caliber fighter is Link. I don't use the bombs or arrows much i just like his sword attacks. I use Mitsurugi a lot too and even though i haven' mastered him i'm still very good with him.

I like the ones that are agile, like Mitsurugi, Kilik, and Talim. For a while, I played with Heihachi endlessly. He's powerful and fast, which is more than I can say about other characters.

I had to ban Maxi and Cervantes. People don't know how to not buttonmash.

I totally agree with you, Ailes! I'm envious of the computer-controller Cervantes, for he does all kinds of neat tricks, but if I try to play him, all I can do is slash the air... :( Same goes with Maxi and Ivy - I just hate their technical guts!

When I'm not cleaving people in two with the iron paddle (nightmare), I like to play as the Epitome of buttonmashers, the guy known as Maxi. While maxi can be technical as hell, he awlso owns as a button masher. I don't think anyone can deny this.

I liked nightmare because not only is he cool he had a real high attack and defense and i had to have that because all my friends are button mashers and pick raphiel and use his quick slashing attacks that make immposible if your character is not strong...but then agin they also liked to be cervantes and push you up against the side of the ring and then do the thing where he stabs you and throws you (it's a grapple) and throw me out of the ring! There so cheap...
