Based on the Chronicles of Narnia Series by C.S. Lewis
Bandal took a sudden halt. It seemed her warhorse, Yazardi, was getting a bit thirsty and needed a break. "Poor girl, she's panting. Too bad she could not talk like in the old tales of the horse Bree." thought Bandal as she gave the horse a drink from her cantina. She glanced at her map, it was old, but still useful as she could point out her location easily a skill she had picked up from hunting with her father. It had been almost a month since she had ran away disguised as a boy, and she had heard no news about the goings of Tashbaan for she was in the middle of the desert.

"Mezreel seems to be the closest. Oh I do love that town, they will have all the supplies we need for our journey."exclaimed Bandal, her newly cut short hair was blowing in the wind. It was not long before a sand storm would hit. Bandal once known as Zydrelle the Tarkheena, jumped on her horse Yazardi and rode off into the sunset. It wasn't much longer until they were going to be in need of shelter.

The wind roared and the sand made circles, teasing them to continue further. They reached the outskirts of Mezreel to find a house and a stable. It was a small house, one that would not fit many people and nothing like the lavish palaces of Tashbaan. But Bandal was in need of shelter, and anything to keep her undercover, so she thought she might stay inside the stable for tonight. Bandal snuck up to the stable and quietly led Yazi inside for a rest. She quickly began to nimble the hay and neigh with excitement. Bandal got a look of the front of the house, although the actual house was in bad shape, the garden was as beautiful as the one in the Tisroc's palace. It had flowers that only grew in Tashbaan, and from what seemed like all over the world.

"Who could have done this?" she thought to herself, but quickly discovered how tired she was when she let out a big yawn. "Best get some sleep. We have a long road ahead of us Yazi, it won't be long before the guards head out this way to search for me."stated Bandal to the horse, but Yazi was fast asleep on the hay. Zydrelle began to slumber off to sleep as well, when she heard a loud creaking noise and a voice quiver out "Who's there? Who dares disturb my sleep and what do you want with me?". The man's voice was shaking as if he were expecting a thief.

Bandal came out from under the shadows. "Please sir. I mean you no harm, all I ask is for me and my horse to have a night's stay for we got caught up in the storm and have no where else to go. We will leave first thing in the morning"exclaimed Bandal, she had never had to plead with anyone in her life. The man looked at her suspiciously and lit a latern and held it high up to see her. She gasped for she recognized the man instantly. It was her arranged fiance, the tisroc's, old servant they called Nigh, and she knew he had recognized her at once.

"My lord. Forgive me for my rudeness. I had no idea of your presence among me."Bowed the man, but Bandal stopped him. "Please, don't bother bowing, you have got to promise not to tell anyone I am here. Or has the tisroc sent you?"said Bandal, for she was worried of them finding out her location. "I do not work for him, nor would I ever tell if you did not want me too."replied Nigh nervously. "I'll bring you some food and beverages, you look quite hungry"mumbled the man as he went outside the stable door.

He came back with a basket of goods. There were vegetables from his garden, Meat and toasted bread with oil. He also had a pitcher of water. They drank and ate their food and discovered a lot about each other. Bandal told him about her adventure about pretending to be the bandit and running away from the tisroc and the now proclaimed Willerwik Saveres told of how he had been free'd from the tisroc's service and joined up in the rebellion. Bandal became interested in the rebellion, for this might be her last chance at escaping the marriage to the tyrant tisroc.

"Willerwik. I like that name."proclaimed the Tarkheena, she was returned with a gentle smile.

Ashem walked silently through the ravished streets of Tashbaan. He'd never been to a city such as this and it provided a less stressful environment then that of the busy port Zalindreh. However, the streets were still cluttered with people, dressed in much more decorative clothing then himself. His eyes widened with every turn and he couldn't believe he'd missed out on a city such as this. The things he could steal, the people he could swindle, this place has real potential he thought to himself.

He hadn't eaten in quite awhile and as he passed a bakery his mouth flooded with saliva, his taste buds nearly bursting from the warm wheat smell. He wanted some, he needed some, but as his hands made their way to his small wool pockets, he found them empty and barren to anything of true value. We'll fix that he laughed to himself. Turning from the store and continuing his nonchalant walk down the crowded road. Just a minute later he found himself upon the ground, "Watch where your walking kid!" shouted a large disgruntled man. "Hah, sorry, guess I just wasn't paying attention," Ashem spoke nervously, returning to his feet and wiping himself off. "Well don't let it happen again, not everyone around here's as nice as me you know," the man spoke again, continuing his stroll. "Yeah, sorry," Ashem spoke, waving to him from behind. Easier then I imagined he smiled, pulling a bag of gold from his pocket and tossing it in the air.

As he exited the bakery his mouth flooded with the taste of just made bread. This is amazing he thought, scarfing it down almost instantly and licking his fingers to savor the taste. However, his train of thought was interrupted by the sight of a beautiful women walking on the opposite side of the large road. Whoa, who's that?? he asked himself, his eyes brightening up at the sight of such a beautiful women. He ran as fast as he could across the street, bumping into sveral people along the way, unintentional this time. He entered a nearby building and ran up several flights of stairs reaching the roof as quickly as possible.

He looked down among the crowded streets of Tashbaan and ran his eyes over each and every head below. Hah, there she is! he exclaimed, as she turned from the main road on to a much smaller one. Ashem hopped from roof to roof, trying his best to keep up with her. He soon learned she was easy to spot, her hair cluttered with several metal pins to keep it in it's extravagant shape. He had to meet her and as he contemplated just what to say he stumbled, his feet sliding along the roof edge and failing to cling as he fell to the ground. He ripped through a cloth overhang and hit the dirt floor with a loud thud, dust erupting from his tattered figure. "Ow..." he mumbled, slowly rising to his feet and attemping to clean himself off.

His mouth dropped at the sight of the beautiful women from before standing just in front of him. He struck a hero's pose, "Whew, I must've lost my balance trying to save that kid on the roof. Luckily my bones are tough and nearly unbreakable or I might've been hurt," he spoke with great confidence. However, when his eyes reverted back to the women he found that she had already continued walking in the opposite direction. "Hey wait!" Ashem shouted running towards her. She'd been lost in the crowd and Ashem panted franticly as he ducked in and out of stores and homes searching for her. He caught a glimpse of her from afar and watched as she entered a building of some sort. He ran as fast as he could and swung open the door, his eyes roaming the room for the ravishing figure he'd seen before.

He spotted her behind the counter, attending to a customer and accepting a large amount of gold in exchange for a long sword. Ashem's jaw dropped once again. The sword was almost as beautiful as she was. The blade gleamed bright, even in the shadows of the store it shined with incredible luster. As the man sheathed it he caught a glimpse of the edge, incredibly sharp and forged to a precise angle. He approached the counter, stopping abruptly before her. "How may I help you?" she asked, her looks only enhanced from the closer veiw. "U-Um, a-ahh, see there was, u-uhh," he stumbled and turned a darker shade of red as his tongue tripped over it's words. "Do you need a sword tempered?" she asked, motioning to the sheaths hooked to his belt. He was quiet for a moment and then, "Yes!" he shouted, unhooking the blades and slamming them upon the counter. She looked a bit uneasy, and laughed nervously as she took them into her possession.

However, Ashem continued to stand there, leaning against the counter and wiping the sweat from his head after such a great chase. "Do you need anything else?" she asked inquisitively, returning to the counter. "Well, could I ask your name?" Ashem spoke nervously. He was usually so confident when it came to women, however, this one was different. "My name is Eilania, however I prefer Wynnelle."

William looked around and laughed. He had not only gotten away from the boring lecture of apple trees, he had probably landed himself in a new place. He wasn?t sure where he was exactly, but he was excited to be there, none the less.

He looked around again, and let a little bit of rain damper his spirits as he saw nothing more than a horizon of darkness, but was probably sand. He looked again to see if anyone was coming, but all he had was moonlight, and the sand was the only thing there. William stood up, and dusted off the pants of his pants.

Best time to walk, right? I mean deserts heat up during the day. William thought to himself as he began to walk in one direction. He no idea where to go, or what he was going to do for food, but the thought of just sitting there wasn?t very appealing.

He kept at an even pace, so that he moved, but wasn?t rushing. He started to whistle a tune as he walked, and soon began to skip. He was so caught up in the excitement of being somewhere new, that he didn?t hear the hooves behind him, and was surprised when a horse neighed next to him.

?Who are you and what?re you doing out so late, and so far from town?? The rider asked, looking at William.

?I?m William Sharp, and I just got here.? William said, trying to make out a face.

?Well, you need to get back into town boy.? The rider replied, holding his hand out. ?I?ll help you get there, if you would like.?

?That would be nice, yes.? William replied, taking the man?s hand.

?And your name is?? William said as he got himself settled.

?Salorid, Salorid Diamore.? He replied, cracking the reigns. ?We should make town before morning. I assume you know someone there??

?No, actually, I?m from a bit farther away.? William replied, stretching the truth just bit. ?But, I can probably find shelter or something like that there.?

?As you feel.? He replied, seeming to end the conversation.

William thought about a million questions to ask, but he wasn?t sure whether or not he like the answer he?d get. He dared himself to one question, and blurted out ?Where are we exactly??

?We are in Calormen.? Salorid replied.

?Oh, so are we like in Africa or something?? William asked, not realzing what he had asked.

?Africa, what is the Africa of which you speak? I?ve never heard of such a place.? Salorid said, turning to give the boy a questionable look.

It gave William to get a good look at his face. Under the pale moonlight, he couldn?t make out much, but the worn lines of a man who?s lived, and lost were evident.

?Africa?s just some made up place, I sometimes forget that it?s not real.? William responded, trying to sound authentic.

?Sometimes I wish we all were somewhere else, away from everything.? Salorid said, seeming as if he was talking more to himself than William.

William decided that now would be the best time to just enjoy the ride, and let Salorid do all the talking. William hoped that the ride would be over soon, not because of Salorid scaring him, but because the motion of the horse?s movement was starting to make him feel a tad sick.

William quickly nodded off, depite his uncomfort, and the next thing he knew, the first rays of sunlight were peaking, and a shadow had appeared on the horizon. "That's town, isn't it?" William asked, hoping not to have scared the "driver".

"Yes, it is. We should be arriving..." Salorid started, but stopped as he pulled the horse's regins to stop. "Do you see that shadow?"

William squinted, but didn't see anything. "No, why?"
