Preferred Suikoden Battle Team

Well, this thread is, as the name suggests, a thread about your preferred party when you don't have to have anyone that has to go in the party (Besides the hero). This thread will cover all avaliable Suikoden games and if you want you can also add a strategy behind the party that you chose. I'll start off by using SUikoden 2 as an example.

SUIKODEN 2

Riou (Hero)- Besides the obvious reason that he cannot be removed from the party he should always be in it even if you could remove him. He hits fairly hard for a more spell caster orientated character/

Nanami- Since you usually have to have Nanami in your party there is little reason why she isn't in it. She hits weakly and shouldn't be less than a yard away from magic she can rack up kills quickly. Her greatest asste is her speed so equip her with a Spark rune so that she can help out the slowest party member.

Pesmerga- Even though you get him late you will always find uses for him. He comes at least 5 levels above the hero and, despite appearences, only weak spot is speed. Which is where characters like Nanami come in.

Georg-Poor dress sense and minimal role in the story but he makes up for that being an awesome character. Shouldn't be anywhere near magic but he is fast for a hard hitter. You get him a whopping seven levels above the hero which is pretty good since you usually get him when you are in your 50's.

Mazus- Strong magic user, He is practicully a beefed up version of Luc which you get later on.

Flik- There is no blatabtly obvious reson not to use Flik
Flik is buff. He?s a very adept short-line attacker-fast, strong, and fairly high skill rating. While his HP are a twinge low, he makes up for it by being a massively great Magician. His lightning rune will stay on him a long time for bosses, and any
other magic rune you attach to him will easily make itself worth it. He?s one of the few characters to have two level 4 magic slots at any sane level.
For god sakes he a strong magic using swordsman, why wouldn't you use him?

Suikoden 2
Flik - He's the only character I'm going to mention here since 1) He was my favorite character in the game and he ruled in battle and 2) I havn't played this game in so long I doubt I could remember an adequate amount of characters.

Suikoden 3
Group 1
Geddoe - He is the leader of the team and it's a well-deserved position of the bearer of a True Rune. His True Lightning rune makes him unbeatable in battle and even without magic he is a powerful melee attacker and adequate healer as well.
Hallec (interchangeable) - He is an incredibly powerful melee attacker that I use a lot throughout the game. However, I've labeled him interchangeable since he isn't necessary and can be replaced by a better character later in the game.

Group 2
Fred - He is another powerhouse I use mostly for defense and protection of Viki. Equipping him with the Firefly rune causes the enemy to always attack him instead of everyone else, and since he takes such little damage he does a great job protecting the rest of the team.
Viki - She is my spellcaster of the group and equipped with her Pale Gate and Blinking rune she's amazing in battle. I use her to heal as well on the off-chance that another person is unable to.

Group 3
Ayame - She is an amazing character in battle and boasts the impressive Shrike Rune. She also has a good amount of rune slots as well to help with magic attacks as well as physical ones.
Landis - He is a physical powerhouse and combined with Ayame they have an amazing combo. Landis falls asleep after the combo, but obtaining the "Yellow Scarf" accessory banishes this side-affect and leaves him unharmed with an amazing combo.

Support
Gordo - He is the master of baths and having him as your support returns HP and heals all status ailments after each battle.

Suikoden IV
Hero - He isn't able to be taken out of the main line-up, however, I'd probably keep him there anyhow lol. He does good physical damage and when equipped with a Fury or Double-Strike rune he can do even more damage. Also, the Rune of Punishment comes in handy a lot throughout the game.
Snowe - He is a playable character in the beginning of the game but certain events cause him to be just another NPC until the very end. He has an amazing combo with Hero that does the most damage in the game, from what I can see.
Mizuki - The holder of the famed Shrike rune she is a fantastic characer to have aboard your team. She is great with magic and boasts 3 rune slots after some leveling up.
Kika or Ted - First, Kika is a fantastic character. Her Falcon rune offers the best alternative to equipping a Fury or Double-Strike rune to increase damage. She also has a combo with Hero that damages all enemies, which comes in handy early on. Ted is my second choice since he boasts the power of an amazing true rune. I think it's better then Hero's, personally, but thats just my opinion.

Support
Yu - He is a doctor that becomes increasingly useful throughout the game. He returns HP after each battle and a good amount at that.

Hmmm, It appears that you have a thing for ninjas from your party choices in Suikoden 2. I also would have chosen Mc'Dhol but I kind of lost my memory card with the save data from number 1.

Anyway here is my preferred party from Suikoden 1

Mc'Dhol- The Soul Eater abslutely rules all with Judgement not to mention he is the main character. He can hit hard and has decent stats later on.

Viktor- I seem to have a more power orienterad party in no 1 so Viktor is the choice because I always seem to use him. It's a tie between him and Flik who hits hard, fast and uses strong magic.

Crowley- Best magic user in the game, possibly in the series. End of Discussion.

Grenseal- Grenseal is an alright fighter but I use him for his unite with Flik and Alen. He doesn't make too bad of a magic user.

Alen- Alen hits hard at times but I still mostly use him for his unite.

Clive- Hardest hitting Ranged unit anyone? Not to mention he just screams awesome.

Well I never really got all 108 stars of destiny in Suikoden 1. My friend however did and when he couldn't find one of the stars in Suikoden 2 he let me use his save file from the first game. So we in essence helped each other so we could see the best cut scenes and endings in both games. Thats teamwork for ya.

As far as the ninjas go, in Suikoden 2 the TECH stat was pretty useful. Characters with a lot of TECH points would dodge, counter, and double strike more often. Combine that with double beat runes and almost every character on my team was attacking at least twice every turn. So instead of going magic or brute strength I relied soley upon extra turns and attacks. It worked to say the least. Plus ninjas are cool.
Sasuke had a crush on Kasumi and Mondo was aware of this. Some pretty dialogue was exchanged between Sasuke and Mondo because of this.
Yes, The technique stat is important because of all the reasons you stated. A character like Clive is one way to take advantage of the technique stat. Not only is he a hard hitting long ranger he can sometimes strike 3 times a turn without a double beat rune. Nanami, the hero and Flik also have decent tech states which is why they are killing machines.
