Delta
Awright! It's finally July! *stretches* High time to set up shop in Art Studio! --------------+ Born out of stimuli from a certain Pizzicato Five song, this be Revue's thread for her works. It will serve mainly as a place for work evaluation and reference for her would-be requesters. Feel free to rant, rave, rate, sage, suggest and comment on the images that will be featured. At the end of each write-up is a pop-quiz (we all love them, don't we?). Do try to answer it. You may learn something new, eh? And please be very honest and, if need be, brutal. --------------+ The Queen of Kabuki-Cho featuring Yuuko and Watanuki of XxxHolic scan lifted from 4chan.org The Queen of Kabuki-Cho is a song by Shiina Ringo. Yep, another wallpaper. As many of you could tell, the scan was originally in black and white. The kimono had nothing on it but bats and XxxHolic's logo (which covered a sizable amount of space, almost half of the bottom part). Colored it in to make it look like an ukiyo-e. Pop quiz! I made this wallpaper in support of Geisha Skin (Use it. Love it.) and since this be the first question, I'll make it an easy one:
The hexcode for Geisha Skin's forum background reveals that it isn't strictly gray (red=green=blue). It's actually a bit:
a. reddish b. greenish c. blueish

Retribution
The wallpaper looks alright -- you didn't do too much to the image, so I can't really critique anything. The typography is hard to read vertically, and the colors aren't helping out the visibility either. I'd either make things brighter, or just it horizontally. The words at the bottom are barely there, but I'm guessing that's just for crediting the stock, you, etc. It's alright overall. As for the pop-quiz, I'm not a fan of the Geisha Skin. It's too hard on the eyes. Personally preference. But I have the answer! By "background of the forum" I take it that you mean not the vast whiteness, as the vast whiteness is perfectly white. All variables of red, green, and blue are equal. But as for the text boxes where our posts go in, it is ever so slightly red. May I have my A please? kthxbye11!
Delta
Yep, you got it! "Reddish" it is. You just won a brand new Internet! You're right about the previous submission too. The orientation of the text is awkward and I did have doubts at sprucing the image up. Here's version 2 (possibly the last, but is still worth showing): Back to fun, leisure and some PS goodness! --------------+
GUNNER featuring Yuna of Final-Fantasy X-2 image provided by Sakura I have just recently discovered this wonderful command called "Gradient Map" in PS7 (yes, it took me this long to find it) and 'thought I'd use it on this piece. This is the first banner I'll ever put up for evaluation that someone might just actually use. I need to prettify it so I'm making it go through a sort of "banner workshop". Comments would be smashing, suggestions more so.
--------------+ Pop Quiz, Hotshots! Since the banner is about gradients, how does a quiz about them sounds?
How many colors were used to create the "Spectrum" gradient preset in Photoshop? (sample shown above)
a) 7 b) 6 c) 5 d) 3
