I am very cautious about tis thread. There are a few reasons for this, but I think the most important one to your unborn child is this: The vast majority of people here will recommend Japanese names from their favorite anime. You'd be much better off paging through a baby name book at your local bookstore.

That being said, my recommendation is simply this: For your child's sake, don't "misspell" his or her name. A unique name may be good, but a name that will make the child spend his or her entire life explaining that no, the name really is spelled like that--not a good idea.

It's Cassandra, not Kassandra. It's Zachary, not Tsakary.

There are exceptions: Sara/Sarah are both common. Catherine and Katherine are both common. Shaun, Shawn, and Sean all work. Jon and John--fine.

But if you'd like something with a different flavor, try looking at names from other languages--Russian, Spanish...yes, even Japanese. If you're desperate. ^_~

Anyway, for girls, flowers are generally safe. Rose, Violet and Daisy are recognisable as names, but there are less mundane names as well, from Azalea to Zinnia. (Amaranth, Hyacinth, Alyssum come to mind.)

I like the names Grace, Gabrielle, Genevieve (yeah I like names that begin with G). OOOH, Jillian (or Gilllian) is also really cute.

Other names I like are:

Lael
Emily
Michelle
Elaina
Sara/Sarah are both common.

:p

Pimpage, hmm?

Anyway, a question I immediately felt when I read your post was: why can't you think of one yourself. I'm not saying this to be mean, but as somebody who is about to have a baby, you'd think that perhaps asking an internet website full of teenage anime fans mightn't be the best idea. It's your baby and so the burden and honour of naming her falls on you. It is one of the first duties of parenthood. We can't help you, you need to learn to do it yourself.

Aye, that may not be the best idea. But there are those of us who come here for the company of others. Not all of us are anime fans.

I truly think you need to look back at your own life. Think of things that stood out. Than try and come up with a name from something, someone, or somewhere that stands out.

I have one single name and that is Ora. It's a name I discovered a long time ago. Have no clue as to what it means but it's sure to stick out. When you find the right name you'll know. There's a feeling that says, this is the right name. Not that it's the same situation, but when you come up with a name in the sign ups here, sometimes you'll get this feeling like, "wow, I really like this name," or something.

I'm having a boxanism so pay no mind to that rant.

I think, even if this is probably a silly place to put this (since this board can be over-crowded with us teens), that I am the first person to say this: Congratulations!

Now, although Japanese names are cool, so are English ones - or in other languages, but regular names. Some names I like are:

Nicole
Cameron
Alexandra
Taylor
Michelle

For more exotic names, I like ones like Skye.

Yes ... *Raises hand* Anime fan here ... The first on that popped into my head was: "Pacifa!!" >_< But I'll give you some "normal" names.

Elizabeth (Haha, always have to give your name as an option)
Kala
Maya
Mai
Ami (Can be pronounced either way ... depends if you want the English or Japanese. Japanese: Ah-mee)
Saphron
Mercedes
Leah
Indigo
Faye (:P)

But I think the best is, when you see you child, if it's actually a girl (sometimes doctors -can- be wrong), look at her for a while; sometimes the name just .... clicks.

How about naming her after a precious gem? That seems to be a pretty popular practice. I'm fond of the name Esmeralda. Very strong name, exotic too. When she's having a hard time pronouncing it, you can always tell your girl that emerald is harder than most gems and is sometimes worth more than diamond.

An exotic name is easily remembered but as Lore said, do not misspell it.
BTW, you should come up with a good nickname for her too.

what about the name Shimi? i like that name. but the best thing to do is to wait for your baby to be born and tink of a name that fits its face AND your last name. like i was going to be Alexandra Sutsos, but that didn't fit me or my last name very well. then i became Olivia Sutsos, it fit well! so see what fits your last name if anything. good luck!!! :animesmil

I always loved the name "Naomi." I would of changed the spelling to "Naiomi"(only because what its spells backwards) but my sister would kill me if I ever named my child that.

Or how about "Madeleine"? It's a nice normal name that's still unique.

Eventhough I have a very normal name(my name is Charlene), not alot of people have it. My mom got it from a dream one night after she had me. So, I'm sure a nice unique name will pop into your head.

Good Luck in your name search! :catgirl:

I'm fond of Hannah, Sarah, and Kayla. I'm not really sure why. Probably because I can match them up to gentle faces in my world. So cute!

That's right, Morpheus just had a gentle moment. Didn't see that one coming, did ya?

While I don't have any really good names to give you, I have one word of advice. When thinking about a specific name, put one question first and foremost in your mind. Ruminate on this question. Think long and hard about what the answer is. What is the question? Here you go:

"Will my child, at any point in the future, axe-murder me for naming him/her this?"

The answer "yes" can apply to several kinds of names: Misspelled names, "exotic" names, very foreign names, names-pets-deserve, hyphenated names, and anything that could provide a pun with your last name. Steer clear of those kinds of things.

Okay, I'll try to be a little more helpful. See, certain letter-combinations, statistically, relate to a persons relationship, monety, political, and business success. So, I'll try and give you some good ones:

ALN, FL, FRN, FY, GB, GLN, GLR, GRS, HD, HL, HT, JNN, MG, NL, OV, and Z

So...try Faye, Grace, Jennifer, Holly, Megan, Zoe, or Felicia.

And remember - she's your baby, so pick a name you can cherish.

Oh, and before anyone asks, I have a book on names.

You know, I was going to name my children very uncommon names too. I hate how people always pick the same names, then you end up having five kids with the same name in your class. Like, for example, I have several Emilys, Daniels, etc. in my grade.

But some girl names? Hmmm.... Rain, can also be spelled Raine or Raene is one I've always adored. Even simple names like Re(normally short for Regan, but can also be used by itself) and Rae can be very pretty and unique.

This one may seem more... common. But I love to spell it this way... Kimi. Such a cute, pretty name. Here's a small list of other names:

Lori
Lara (NOT Laura... it is pronounced the way it is written)
Faye
Iva
Ivy
Cheya
Raven
Lillith

Names of that nature. But, yes, like people have said before: It's your child, and you must pick the name. There are so many names out and about. Sometimes it's best if you pick up some "exotic" baby name book, thumb through that, and find something.

First and foremost I'd like to advise against two name choices.

Please, whatever you do, don't name her Princess. You should see some of the reactions me friend gets when she introduces herself. Life long torture is inevitable if you name your daughter this. Teachers can't even help themselves.

It's also a hassle if you name her Leigh and give her Anne as a middle name. I'm sure my sister has contemplated killing our mother for this. No one ever spells it correctly either.

Also, if you decide to have more children, I don't recommend giving them names that all start with the same letter. I'm one of six and our names are Laura, Linda, Leigh, Lorna, Lance, and Lydia. Doing this will result in you mixing up their names until you become so aggravated that you just start yelling "Hey you!"

I've always been fond of the names Madison, Helena, Ocasia, and Skyla. They don't cause too much trouble for my cousins and I think they're all pretty.

Hmm, girl names...well, these are a couple that always appealed to me:

Lilia - Prounounced Lily - uh. This one just sounds so nice, it just does.

Hmm..I said couple, didn't I? Wel this is the only really nice one I can think of right now. Jean is also a nice name, and Zoe's not bad, but I got to go with Lilia as my #1.
