Blood under-foot. Slick, cold, red. Trip. Down he goes. Face to face with a corpse.

Scrambles back. Move away. GET UP! Run. Run. Run! RUN! Going to die; going to kill you. Run! No time, move!

Voice, raspy and cold. Like death. Bones.

Chains, rattling like bones. Tight, cold, hard, metal. Pull back. Fall. Drag. Blood again, on face and skin and clothes. Smoke all around. Can't see, can't breath. Only fear. Only pain.

Red eyes like blood. Skull-face. White. Death.

[COLOR=SlateGray][SIZE=1]The massacre was horrible. It always is. The monster had slaughtered an entire squadron. Everyone there was dead. Blood, everywhere. Chain links and soul sleeps shattered. None of them had stood a chance against the monster. But [I]Sanban-Taicho[/I] had been too blind to see that. As always. The investigator shot him a sideways glance.

The worst was a young Shinigami...no more than 20th seat. Probably bottom of the barrel. Just a kid, really. The investigator checked his Zanpakutoh - yup. An Asauchi, one of the blades for those too weak to have a named one. Never stood a chance in Hell. Or Soul Society. Just a new kid, with a no-name sword. Going up against the most fearsome monster in all the after-life.

The investigator rose, turning to [I]Sanban-Taicho[/I].

"It's definately our man. Complete soul destruction, drained Spirit Power, and the wounds are in line with his weapon. Plus...he used the Shikai at least once. There are chain marks on this one," he pointed to the kid.

"So, we found him, at least," the Captain said, with a flippant grin.

"No...it looks more like your team was ambushed."

"Hmmm...I think the best we can do is increase security around the Court of Pure Souls."

The investigator gave him a cold look.

"And what about those in Rukongai? They would still be vulnerable."

"That is none of your concern," the Captain said coldly. "You may leave now."

"But..."

"That is an order."

The investigator paused, looking at the captain.

"Hai, [I]Sanban-taicho-sama[/I]."[/SIZE][/COLOR]

[COLOR=SlateGray][SIZE=1]A monster is hunting Souls.

Not just any monster. A Shinigami.

And he's not just any Shinigami. He has the face of a Hollow.

Shinigami are souls with great power who hunt down and destroy evil spirits. The evil spirits are called Hollows, and they are soul devouring monsters. Hollow's are known for their great, white masks, and the holes in their chests. They eat the souls of Pluses, normal ghosts, to feed their emptiness and hatred. They are souls who died violent deaths, fell into despair, or were just forgotten.

A Shinigami is supposed to destroy them. Not become them.

He was a legend, they say, before becoming a monster. A great warrior, who could cleave 10 Hollow's in twain with a single sword stroke. But, in his boundless quest for power, he sold his soul to become that which he hated. He became part Hollow. He put the mask on.

Now, he wreaks havoc in Soul Society and the human world. The Zanpakutoh, or Soul Cutter Sword, which was deigned to slay Hollows, is now used to destroy the souls of the innocent. His sword, the Hollow Heart, lets him drain the power he needs from others in his demented quest for might.

As Shinigami have powerful souls, they are rapidly becoming targets for this monster. So, naturally, Soul Society is sending out teams to destroy him. So far, they have had little luck. It seems that he is, in fact, at least on par with a [I]fukutaicho[/I]. So, new, powerful souls are being culled and trained to fight against him. This includes three souls in particular. New arrivals to Rukongai...but some have legends already built.

Inoue Orihime. Sado Yasutora. Arisawa Tatsuki.

Each has great spirit power. Each has come in contact with Shinigami. Each is willing to fight to save mankind.

They shall join the Captains and Vice-Captains in battle. Already, they are rising the ranks to power; Inoue Orihime, 4th Squad, 3rd Seat; Sado Yasutora, 11th Squad Vice Captain; and Arisawa Tatsuki, 6th Squad, 4th Seat. But are these new souls enough? Is there enough power among the Shinigami ranks? Or will it all end in darkness...at the hands of a Hollow Heart.

They say he was a high-ranking Shinigami. They say he's as powerful as a Captain. They say that he could bring Soul Society to its knees.

The Shinigami are going to test that.[/SIZE][/COLOR]

[COLOR=SlateGray][SIZE=1]This in an RPG based on the manga/anime Bleach, but Kube Tito. If you haven't seen/read much of Bleach, you probably won't get most of this. And if you still want to enter, I suggest visiting some good sites on the subject. I suggest Bleach Portal and Bleach 7.

Soul Society is where the dead go when they die. Usually, they become what are called Ryoka in the Rukongai area. However, powerful souls often become Shinigami (Death Gods), warriors who fight Hollows and transfer good souls to Soul Society. The Shinigami are ruled by the 13 Captains ([I]taicho[/I]), and their 13 Vice-Captains ([I]fukutaicho[/I]). The Shinigami are grouped into 13 Divisions, going from the low 20th seat, up to Captain.

Some of the taicho and fukutaicho from the show are still around. Some are not. If you want to be a pre-existing character, you can contact me. However, I'd like a balance of original and non-original. Just...makes things more interesting, ne? Well, here's the sign-up...

[B]Appearance:[/B] Utamuro has a standard katana with a red laquered saya, and red cloth covering the hilt. However, the tsuba is slightly stange, in that it is, instead of a round guard, four prongs.

[B]Shikai Call-Out:[/B] Haritsuke (Crucify)
[B]Shikai Appearance:[/B] The first, most noticable thing, is the fact that Juujikamaru's blade extends roughly 1 foot in length, with a gradually increasing widening towards the end. The sword becomes double bladed, as well. Not only does the blade grow, but so does the hilt and, more noticably, the pommel, spreading into four long spokes.
[B]Shikai Power:[/B] Juujikamaru can fire a concentrated blast of spirit energy. It's very draining, but quite powerful against Hollows.

[B]Bankai:[/B] Kuroi Juujikamaru (Black Cross)
Kuroi Juujikamaru is quite different from Juujikamaru. First of all, the tsuba breaks off and grows considerably, becoming a large, cross-shaped shield. The blade changes back into a standard katana which Utamuro holds in his other hand. However, the blade and shield are both strange because they are jet black. The unique power of the Kuroi Juujikamaru is that it drains energy from the souls that his opponent has killed, making it an extremely deadly weapon against Hollows.

[B]Personality:[/B] As Captain of the 10th Squad, Utamuro has a reason for being cocky. Powerful, handsome, and famous (or infamous, if you prefer) for his skill with women, he strutts around the Court of Pure Souls, basking in the radiant glory of his accomplishments. He is driven by pure ego, and occasionally lust. But he is not only a pompous womanizer; Utamuro is clever and brilliant when it comes to tactics. The 10th Squad, under his leadership, has become the planners and strategizers for the Shinigami.

After ticking off the battle conditions in his mind quickly, Utamuro jumped to the side, avoiding a sudden lunge. A lean Hollow, lizard-like face, big claws. Two of the others were the same. A fourth was large with bull-like horns, and the last was like a massive snake. Three quick; one strong; one wierd.

[I]Easy.[/I]

Utamuro wrenched his body in the air, dodging a second lung. As he hit the ground, he sprung off with one hand, moving to the side, narrowly avoiding a third. The big Hollow came charging in, but he easily ducked to the side, and lept over another lunge.

All with his eyes closed.

What may seem like precognition to an outside observer was simply the result of centuries of training. Utamuro had honed his mind to be able to strategize out of almost any situation. He could read the plans of his adversaries so skillfully, he didn't even need to watch them attack.

He could hear the big one moving again, attacking his back. With a twisting side-step, he moved around it. And by drawing his Zanpakutoh in the same motion, he cut a long gash from its front to its flank. One down. Two more lunges were let with a flash of energy - chalk two more up to Kidoh.

It was then that he heard the ground rumbling. And it was good that he did, because he jumped back a split second before the snake Hollow burst up from the ground. With practiced ease, he tilting Juujikamaru forward.

"[I][B]Juujikamaru, Haritsuke![/B][/I]"

The snake turned to face him, and was met with a bolt of spirit energy, fired from Juujikamaru. It joined its three comrades in Soul Society. Utamuro dropped to the ground, letting Juujikamaru rest across his shoulder. Slowly, he exhaled, and finally opened his eyes.

"[B]That was easy...[/B]"

The fifth Hollow came at him from the side, bursting out of the foliage. Juujikamaru's blade was already pointed that way, and it was annihilated with a bolt of energy.

"[B]...Too easy.[/B]"

[CENTER]And, just so you know what he's like, the Hollow-Faced Shinigami himself.[/CENTER]

[B]Appearance:[/B] Basically, he looks like a Shinigami with a freakish, skull-like white mask covering his face. His mask has long teeth and narrow, gleaming red eyes, and looks mostly like a normal skull. In addition, he is quite tall, and lean, with pale skin and almost unnaturally long features. He keeps his left arm wrapped in bandages at all times. In addition, he has two circular scars, one on the center of his chest and the other exactly opposite it on his back.

[B]Appearance:[/B] His katana is in a jet-black saya, with skull-engravings on the tsuba.

[B]Shikai Call-Out:[/B] Musaboru (Devour)
[B]Shikai Appearance:[/B] A serrated, black-bladed katana with chains dangling from the hilt, which are usually wrapped around his arm. The serrations are longer than they normally would be, and more widely spaced, making for an extremely painful edge.
[B]Shikai Power:[/B] Utsuro Kokoro's chains shoot off and wrap around his opponent, keeping them bound. They can easily change length to suit his needs.

[B]Bankai:[/B] Konjiki Utsuro Kokoro (Golden Hollow Heart)
Large metal spokes emerge from Utsuro Kokoro's hilt, replacing the chains and binding around his arm, digging in to the bone. The spikes on the blade grow, as well, becoming similar to those on Renji's sword. In addition to the painful new weapon, the Shinigami gains the ability to channel almost all of his energy into a powerful blast that annihilates his opponent and gives him their spirit energy. However, it's usually a last-ditch effort on his part, as it is extremely risky to use.

[B]Personality:[/B] No one has lived long enough to describe how he acts, exactly. All that is know is that he is cold, ruthless, and extremely powerful.

What starts off as a simple katana transforms into a long spear, roughly 6' long, with two spikes coming out at the top making it look like a large crucifix. It looks heavy and bulky but is actually very light; Nozomi has trained for years to use it with expert skill. The end of the 'spear' is sharpened as well as the three tips at the top. In the middle there is a black leather grip with the kanji for "Peace" scratched into it.

The katana itself is simple in design, but it is the saya that is very unique. With elaborate patterns running over the surface and gems embedded near the tip, the saya itself is a beauty to behold. It is jet black with silver dragons, dashes of gold running over like gleaming scales. The gems at the tip make the dragon's eyes and they sparkle magnificently in the sun. The hilt of the katana is silver and has a crucifix carved on the side.

[B]Shikai Power-[/B]
The Kashoku has immense holy and light energy trapped inside of it. If Nozomi desires she can shoot massive bolts of this energy at her foe though doing so leaves her open to attack.

[B]Bankai-[/B] N/A, but Nozomi is trying to master it.

[B]Personality-[/B]
Nozomi is a woman of class and elegance, she know who she should show respect to and who should show it to her, which has actually grown to a good many people over the years. She knows that she has not gained her high position in the Shinigami ranks by making friends and socialising and has earned herself a reputation as a cold person who refuses to talk to those she doesn't need to. Nozomi is focussed and bitterly sarcastic and sometimes heartless. She has a very short temper which burns down easily especially with the younger recruits. She has great problems with handling the younger spirits and prefers to just fight Hollows instead of saving those wandering spirits.
A woman with almost zero sense of humour, Nozomi is not one that should be made angry in any situation. The only person she ever seems calm or happy around is her [I]taicho[/I], Abarai Renji, who is also her closest friend and a man with whom she trusts her life.

Nozomi sighed as she sat on the edge of a fountain, the cold water gently splashing against her cheek. She paid it no heed and instead watched the other Shinigami mill about, going about their daily tasks. The [I]taicho[/I] had been called to a meeting, one about this [I]?Hollow-Faced Shinigami?, [/I] no doubt.

Nozomi still wasn?t sure if she totally believed the story, a Hollow/Shinigami mix? It just didn?t seem possible to her?though, if you had spoken to her a few years ago, she wouldn?t have thought it possible for a Quincy to be so powerful either. Back then she held the fourteenth seat in 6th Squad, a position she was not proud of and dearly wanted to build up on. She remembered quite clearly the times she had spent with that Quincy, Uryuu Ishida, and remembered some of the things he had said to her, [I]?Power corrupts, but it also heals?become powerful, and help those you love.?[/I]

She scoffed and stood from the fountain, that piece of advice had been spoilt by the mere mention of love. What good was love to a warrior of her level now? She had power and she had reason. That was all that was needed, especially in the time of war and need.

The heavy sound of wood being beaten signalled the end of the meeting and Nozomi looked up to see Renji leaving the meeting room. He looked down and nodded to his lieutenant, Nozomi returned the gesture with a small smile.

Up until a year ago, Renji scarcely knew her name and had only seen her in Squad meetings, but she had trained and fought and steadily risen to the high level she was at present and he respected her for that. Her [I]taicho[/I] hopped off the bottom step and walked over to her, Nozomi resented him walking too close to her because of her small stature compared to his height, it was quite comical to see the two together in combat.

Renji grinned down at Nozomi and she raised an eyebrow questioningly. [B]?I don?t like that grin, Renji?you look insane, stop it.?

?Aie! Nozomi, just because you?ve forgotten how to look happy??[/B]

Nozomi scowled and walked slightly faster with Renji laughing behind her. He reached down and took a swipe at the dark makeup around her eyes, smearing it down one soft cheek. Nozomi glared coldly up at him and rubbed her cheek, only smudging the makeup more. Renji chuckled and walked ahead as his lieutenant struggled to make herself presentable, nodding to certain captains that passed him.

[B]?Utamuro, Hiwatari-chan.?[/B] He said, almost cheerfully, as the tenth Squad captain and lieutenant passed. Nozomi shot Sakura a short smile and scowled in Utamuro?s direction, she wasn?t very fond of that man?he was too cocky and brash for her liking. But, as a Vice-Captain, she had no right to comment and instead hurried to Renji?s side so she did not have to look in the other man?s direction.

[B]?Are you going to tell me why you?re so happy??[/B] she questioned, still sounding sceptical.

Renji looked down and patted her on the head patronisingly, tapping his nose with his free hand.

Nozomi sighed and gave up in the end, it had been a long day, and her [I]taicho[I] had a bad habit of annoying her when he was in a good mood.

Chiméiteki doesn't change much, it just grows another blade on the other end of the pole and the blades are bigger than before.
[b] Personality:[/b] [/color][/size][size=2][color=Navy]Sakura is a very dedicated person and is incredibly determined. When she sets out to hunt down a hollow, she'll do it, no matter how long it takes. When Sakura's not on the job, she's quite open and friendly to those she trusts. But during work, she's not someone to be messed around with until the hunt's over. She is extremely stubborn and hardly ever loses an argument about anything. Sakura has known Utamuro for a long time, since they were partnered together in the 10th Squad. He's one of the only people she trusts with her life. She's driven by the will to save others from the pain of losing their families and/or friends to hollows as she had.[/color][/size]
[size=2][color=Navy] [b] Character Snippit:[/b] [/color][/size][size=2][color=Navy]Sakura walked along the stone path, she could hear the quiet, serene, trickling of water coming from the various water features in the place. There was a 'clunk' sound as the bamboo tube fell from the weight of the water flowing into it and another small sound as it returned to its previous position. Sakura walked past a small clear pond where large koi could be seen swimming around in the depths. Sakura knew exactly where she was going, she came here very often as it was a relaxing place to be, with something to do with water practically everywhere.

Sakura walked toward the stone platform that was supported over a large lake by strong bamboo poles beneath it. She walked up the stone steps that led onto the platform and pulled out her Zanpakutoh. She looked at the blade, she had had it for some time and she considered it a friend as it was as good as one in a battle. She pulled a strip of cloth out of the folds of her robes and wrapped it around her eyes, tying the ends behind her head. She was now rendered blind and she got into a fighter's stance with the blade.

Sakura started to practise her skills, she was very good, relying on her other senses besides her sense of sight. She did a series of gymnastic moves from one corner of the platform to the other without losing her balance of falling over the edge. Sakura moved as if she truely were facing a foe, constantly on the move and swinging her blade.

[b]"Chiméiteki Gyakusatsu!" [/b]she called, and her blade transformed into a glaive.

Sakura continued her skills, using sweeping and slicing moves. She rolled from her 'opponent' and pushed out with her staff as she got to her feet. Sakura stopped suddenly as her ears heard a voice calling.

[b]"Sakura!" [/b]she heard the voice again and recognised it as Utamuro's.

[b]"Hai!" [/b]Sakura called as Chiméiteki reverted back to the blade state.

Sakura sighed and slipped it back into its sheath as she heard footsteps.

[b]"Practising again? I always know where to find you." [/b]he said to her.

[b]"Hai, this place used to be land my parents owned, its mine now that they're gone. It's always been my favourite spot to come to." [/b]Sakura answered, untying the blindfold and putting it back into the folds of her robe.

[b]"Alright then, come on, let's go, Vice Captain." [/b]the Captain of the 10th squad said, turning and walking away.

Sakura smiled and followed her old friend and leader.[/color][/size]

[B]Personality-[/B] Kane's personality is that of a quiet, solitary, and straightforward Shinigami who'd rather fight hollows and work than take her time to be social. She is not the type of person that others would want to cross paths with nor would they dare to look her in the eye. Kane has the tendency to give the effect of someone who despises everything around her and acts as if there is nothing in the world that amuses her, albeit, she is a person who despises very little and truth of the matter is, nothing does amuse her. She is a quiet person and only speaks when she has something important to say, is quite blunt and straightforward, prefers to be alone, and is hell-bent on doing anything that could jeopardize her reputation, life, and herself as a Shinigami. Unlike most female Shinigami, Kane is the type of person who takes up almost any challenge, defies all rules, and lives to fight but knows when to run and stay out of another?s fight. She is the type of person that wouldn?t give others the time of day but respects her elders and superiors, though she still disobeys their words. She is an enigmatic character who holds jaded eyes towards the world, keeping a cool head and a calm and collected persona, although, some would say that she acts like a cold-hearted fiend who cares for nothing in the world except for herself, when in reality, it is who she is and nothing can change that. Kane, like some, came from a miserable place where she had to learn to defend her self and stay alive. She came from a place where misery and torment ruled and when it struck someone who seemed worse off than her, she would protect them from that harm, fighting till near death. It had given her a calloused heart, a strong mind, and jaded eyes that sees between black and white, yet knows what is right and wrong. Yet, when it comes to trust, Kane has a difficulty giving it. It is hard for her to trust anyone because of her mindset on things and it is because of the lies and deception that has caused her to be this way. For anyone to gain her trust is incredible, for it means that they have been honest, loyal, and courageous enough to stand up to Kane, which means a lot to her because no one even speaks with her unless they were given orders to give to her. [B][U][[Zanpakutoh]][/B][/U] [B]Appearance-[/B] Hantorayasha is by far an unorthodox Zanpakutoh for a high-ranking Shinigami. Its blade is thinner than a normal katana and longer with what appears to be an octagram as the cross guard. It is sheathed in a black and gold saya and has the face of a roaring tiger on the hilt. Hantorayasha is not held by Kane's side nor is it slung over her back but merely tuck neatly away in her hair, acting as a hairpin until she calls its name. [B]Name-[/B] Hantorayasha (Rebellious Female Tiger Demon) [B]Shikai Call-Out-[/B] "Yaku to hakai suru!" (Incinerate and destroy) [B]Shikai Appearance-[/B] Shikai Hantorayasha takes on the appearance of a black tiger with white stripes and black skeletal wings. It exudes an almost white hue around itself and Kane does not control it by holding onto any part but by merely riding atop of it. It also has eight-inch long canines that can bite through anything from metal to rock to people. Shikai Hantorayasha takes on the attributes of a real tiger and has an ornery personality, albeit it is still a Zanpakutoh, it does tend to go into state of rage. [B]Shikai Power-[/B] Shikai Hantorayasha can be personified as a real tiger judging by the way it acts. It vanishes from sight and leaves no trail of itself so that its prey cannot sense that it is there. It then creates a dome of darkness, blocking out all light and rendering its prey helpless when it cannot see. When the prey has suddenly dropped its guard and all sense of fear is gone, Shikai Hantorayasha chases after it and when it has the prey cornered, Shikai Hantorayasha destroys it by attacking the target the way a tiger would its prey. [B]Bankai-[/B] Juujun Raigaama (Obedient Liger Demon) Juujun Raigaama takes the form of a white liger which has the head of a lion, the body of a tiger, the tail of a lion, teeth of a saber tooth tiger's, and the ferocity of both felines. It emanates a dark hue around itself and has feathery white wings. Unlike Hantorayasha, Kane does not need to ride it but can control it through movements for it is connected to Kane's spiritual power, therefore it is difficult to kill unless Kane is at a near death, similar to that of one of the captain?s Bankai. Another difference between Hantorayasha and Juujun Raigaama is that Juujun Raigaama first uses its feathers to poison, making it so that its senses are useless and then it emits a white flame-like substance from its, trapping the target. When the target is weak and at a near death, Juujun Raigaama eats the soul. [B]Character Snippet-[/B] ?Demon Art #33, Soukatatsui!? From the top of a roof, flaming blue fireballs could be seen shooting towards a grotesque lobster-like Hollow with large pincers. It flinched and was pushed back but it regained its position and charged towards Kane, who smirked and jumped into the air as it rammed itself into another Hollow that appeared to be a human-like creature with tentacles. The two shook their heads and roared a horrendous sound as each of them ran after Kane, who stood there waiting. ?Give up, Shinigami. You cannot win against us!? The first to speak was the lobster Hollow. ?We are powerful!? ?Surrender and we?ll be gentle.? The second to speak was the human Hollow with tentacles. ?Devouring your soul will be easy.? ?Do not try to fight us, Shinigami.? The third to speak was a Hollow that stood behind Kane. ?Fighting is futile. It will only lead you to your doom.? ?[i]Urusaii, baka[/i]. You couldn?t even devour a human child?s soul. What makes you think you?ll be able to devour mine?? The Hollow behind Kane reached around to grab her but was soon bound by a demon art. ?Perhaps a little game is in order. From this to that tree is open ground but once I touch that tree, my soul will not be yours to take.? ?Fair enough.? A husky voice sounded from behind the other three Hollows. ?Let the game begin.? At that moment, Kane disappeared from sight and the Hollows stood there, trying to catch her scent. The lobster Hollow jumped to the next building while the others stood where Kane was last seen. A chuckle was heard and the human-like Hollow shot its tentacles towards the sound but merely pierced a metal pole. A small glint could be seen where the human-like Hollow was. The chuckle grew into a sadistic laughter as Kane showed herself. The Hollows followed suit, roaring. The lobster Hollow shot out a gooey substance Kane easily evaded, the unseen Hollow appeared before her and was seen as a bear Hollow with leech bomb shooting from its mouth. Then another Hollow jumped in front of Kane and tried to crush her with its large hands but one was cut off by Kane?s sword. ?It appears that I?m winning and I?m guessing that before I even get to the tree, you all will perish.? The thundering roars and the pounding feet were behind Kane as the Hollows hurried after her soul, wanting to taste the delicious soul of a Shinigami. Though, just as soon as Kane neared the tree, it was cut down by the bear Hollow?s leech bombs. The Hollows snickered and walked slowly towards the Shinigami, who stood at the edge of the building near the fallen tree. The first to advance was the lobster Hollow who rushed to grab Kane with its pincers but was unsuccessful. The bear Hollow shot out several leech bombs that Kane caught in her hand and threw back at the Hollow with one hand. The three were missing limbs here and there, but all were determined to taste a Shinigami?s soul. ?Give it a rest, Shinigami. We have you cornered. Your tree has fallen and without, you cannot win!? At that moment, the bear Hollow charged the Shinigami who fell back towards the tree. Before she even touched the tree, Kane bounced off of the building next to her and punched the bear Hollow in the center of its mask, then sliced the lobster Hollow through the middle, and finally stabbed the last Hollow in the stomach. It winced and roared in pain, trying to writhe out from the sword?s hold. With a smirk, Kane finished it off but before she did, her last words to it were, ?Game over, Hollow.?[/center]

[b] Shikai Appearance:[/b] Shikai Zabimaru is fearsome. On transformation, the sword becomes longer and wider, tapering slightly towards the hilt and ending in a squared-off head. Along the blade edge is a series of fang-like sawteeth designed to painfully rip through flesh.
[b] Shikai Power:[/b] [/color][/size][/font][font=Trebuchet MS][size=2][color=black]What is really awe-inspiring about Shikai Zabimaru is that it isn't, in fact, still a sword; the blade separates into seven segments, each with a 'fang', and held together with flexible sections of an unknown, elastic material. Renji handles Shikai Zabimaru like a whip, although he can only make a maximum of three attacks before returning the sword to its rigid state.[/color][/size][/font]
[font=Trebuchet MS][size=2][color=black][b] Bankai:[/b] All of Soul Society knows Renji has achieved Bankai; he wouldn't be allowed to attain Captain rank without it. However, he prefers not to use it, and no enemy he has faced has been worthy of Zabimaru's second release. The details of Abarai-taicho's bankai remain a mystery to all but his closest confederates.

[b] Personality:[/b] Having made it all the way from the mean streets of 38th-District Rukongai to Captain of the Court's 6th Squad, Renji is a strong and powerful fighter, and he knows it well. He can be arrogant at times, and in particularly difficult situations he has been known to act impulsively, relying on his strength with no thought to strategy. However, he has a rough charisma, and is well-liked amongst the members of the Court Guardian Squads.

[/b]Renji crouched low as the spider-legged Hollow charged him, its mask locked in a rigid, fanged snarl. He placed his right hand on Zabimaru's hilt and stood his ground, as if futilely trying to outstare the unblinking eyes of the skull-like face.

The arachnid spirit slung its body low, intending to crush the Shinigami into the ground with a scuttling headbutt.

As the creature drew within a few feet of him, a slight grin tugged at the corner of Renji's mouth.

With a bellow, the Hollow smashed its face into the concrete. It wriggled a moment, seeming confused; Renji was now several feet to its left, with Zabimaru still sheathed. One of the jointed, insectile legs quivered as the creature tried to free itself, but as it shifted its weight, the mask fell neatly into two pieces and its body began to dissolve into the ether, its soul heading straight for Soul Society.

Renji wondered briefly whether he could ever master the draw-cut-sheathe technique as well as his former [i]taicho, [/i]Kuchiki Byakuya, before dismissing the thought.

[b]"Of course I could, with enough training," [/b]he told himself out loud, putting all thoughts of Kuchiki-taicho out of his mind.

Renji drew Zabimaru once more, pointing him at thin air straight ahead.

Shikai Power: If Akito plants the blade in the ground, the barbs extend to strike enemies through the floor.

Personality: If there's one thing Akito likes, its sleep and he shows little mercy on those that interrupt it. His captain despairs of him, knowing that if he applied himself he could easily climb up the ranks, perhaps even to vice captain level, but very little seems to motivate him and he doesn't train as much as he should.
Character Snippit:Akito awoke with a thud in the middle of the training grounds, which was odd, since he'd been in bed when he went to sleep. He stood up, yawning and stretching, and was about to walk off to bed when he notice vice-captain Yasutoro (which explained how he'd got here) and 5 low-ranked squad members.

[B]Personality:[/B] Gin is usually relaxed and calm, and does not often lose his cool, despite his ?fiery exposition?. He?s very friendly, and gets along with many of the members of the guardian squad, though when he gets angry it?s better to avoid him. He?s quite the strategist, and plans out battles fully, making sure every move is adequate and worthwhile. His energy seems boundless in battles and he becomes a strict, merciless warrior. For the most part, anyway. He would never sacrifice a team member. He has a high spirit of chivalry.

[B]Shikai Appearance:[/B] When Kuroenkou transforms, it doesn?t change much in appearance. The blade becomes straighter at the end, instead of the usual rounded feel of a katana. The tsuba grows larger and four spikes emit upwards from it. The hilt gets slightly longer, and a chain comes from the end of it, with a happy face emblem. The real power of his Shikai is the fact that he summons a dragon made of fire. This western dragon raises the temperature of the battlefield and it launches fire at the opponents that Gin can control as he pleases.
[B]Shikai Power:[/B] Kuroenkou is covered in flames and can emit these flames at any given time. Gin can even emit the flames in an aerial blast the cuts through the air.

[B]Bankai:[/B] [color=#660000]Kuroenkou Ryuujin Kacchuu[/color] (Black Flame Dragon God Armor)
Kuroenkou Ryuujin Kacchuu is quite an odd Zanpakutoh. The sword doesn?t change much from it?s shikai version, but the blade takes a crimson hue and gets slightly longer. More chains come from the end, wrapping the blade firmly around his right arm. The fire dragon wraps around Gin, becoming armor. On the chest of the armor is the same symbol as that of the one on his robes. A dragon head appears in front of Gin?s face and in front of the palms of his hands. This allows him to rapid fire fireballs. Flaming dragonic wings appear as well. Gin cannot fly with them, but they allow him to move faster, and can be used as weapons. Gin's shinigami robes change as well. The top half of his blacks looks more like the top half of a trench coat, with the collar up.

Gin said the word with disgust. There were three of them, and they had him surrounded. He had been wondering, thinking of the nightmare he had had the night before. He had been in battle with the ?Hollow-Faced Shinigami?. It had been torturing him. Gin wasn?t strong enough to even be a challenge. He had been so angry that he went outside and went hunting for hollows to beat. He had found some, and was in a foul mood. He drew Kuroenkou quickly and chopped off the head of the hollow in front of him. The other two jumped at him in unison, and struck. Gin defended with Kuroenkou and jumped backwards.

[B]?Filthy Hollows.?[/B] One jumped at him, and Gin raised his foot up, kicking it backwards. The other Hollow took that as his chance and struck Gin?s side. Gins was swift, though. The Hollow?s claw had only grazed him. But it had made him angry. Gin straightened himself out and held his blade in front of him. A grim smirk spread across his face.

[B]?Yakedo Genjuu!?[/B] A pillar a fire surrounded Gin, and when it cleared, there was a giant dragon sitting behind him. His blade was larger, ad he was slightly happier. He got satisfaction from purifying Hollows. He pointed to the Hollow at his left and the dragon emitted a plume of flame onto it. The Hollow?s mask split in half and dissolved. Gin roled his eyes to the other one. [I]Just one left?[/I]

Gin swung his blade in the direction of the Hollow, sending a wave a fire rippling through the air. It struck the Hollow in it?s chest, and it fell backwards. Gin walked over to it and stood above it. He smiled sadly and raised his blade, the anger from earlier washing away, and pity replacing it. He spoke to the Hollow silently.

[B]?Be purified!?[/B] The dragon wrapped around Kuroenkou and the blade lit ablaze. Gin drove it through the Hollow, listening to it scream. It dissolved, being sent to Soul Society. Gin rverted Kuroenkou to it?s original form and sheathed it. He stood there for a moment, before hearing a voice behind him. It was the Vice-Captain of his squad.

Although some times a bit on the ditzy side, Orihime is a solid person. She?s also a bit naïve, but her friend Tatsuki keeps her in line.

I reject!? the three spirits absorb themselves into the Zanpakutoh, and allow Orihime to release a greater sphere of protection when she strikes the ground with Eiei.

?I reject!? Orihime yelled as Tsubaki flew towards the enemy Hollow.

His trail could be seen, as he smacked into the Hollow, and split the mask in two. Orihime smiled, and waited for him to return. ?We have to get out of here and warn everyone about this. These Hollows, there should be no more than one or two at a time.?

?You?re right. We need to?? Lilly, another of the Shunshunrikka, started to say.

?There?s another two!? Tsubaki yelled.

?Tsubaki! Kotezahnu! I reject!? Orihime yelled, watching the spirit fly for what seemed like the hundredth time.

?ORIHIME! Behind you!? A voice yelled pulling her attention to her rear. There was a Hollow, with it?s mouth open, ready to bite.

?Hinagiku, Baigon, Lily! Santen Ketshunun. I reject!? She yelled as the shield shot up, sending the Hollow stumbling. Orihime looked back at the Hollow she had sent hopefully to its death. She gasped as it stood there, its horrendous white face still there.

?Tsubaki?? Orihime asked, turning around. He was nowhere to be found, and she was getting worried.

A shattering sound brought Orihime back to her rear. The Three God Shield had just busted, and the three spirits returned to the hair pin form. Orihime looked for her other two spritis, but they were also gone, replaced by the same pin. ?This isn?t good.?

The two Hollows slowly began to close in on Orihime, their intents obvious. ?Her spirit Engery is incredible. We could both eat her and be full.? One said.

?I agree. You jump, and I?ll attack.? The other said, its tongue running out.

Orihime stayed silent and tried to think of something. She couldn?t move to the sides because of the hills and going towards them wouldn?t help her at all. She at this point couldn?t think straight, so that may have also been a part of it. When the one sprang, Orihime knew that she was either going die, or be saved by something.

Her answer came in the form of a searing pain as the Hollow landed on her and knocked her to the ground. It bit her, and she cried out. The pain was incredible. The pain stopped suddenly, as the weight on top of her disappeared. She opened her eyes, and looked around to see the face of Chad. ?Just hold on Orihime.?

The images form there began to swim as she felt Chad pick her up, and move her. She swam in and out of consciousness as the bouncing awoke her from time to time. She felt the backing of the stretcher as she was loaded on, and felt the less bumpy ambulance ride to the hospital.

She felt the air trickle down her throat as the doctor put her to sleep, and felt the pain in her entire body as she awoke again. She began to swim as an image of Tatsuki appeared. Her voice seemed a million miles away.

It would be the last time Orihime heard her voice alive. After a twelve-hour surgery, the doctors couldn?t save her, and Orihime passed on.[/font][/size]

Just replace those with Shinigami robes.[/url] Akuma's right arm is wound in a white bandage all the way up, and on his Shinigami robes, there are several symbols in white. Akuma's hair is white, as well, and ends in a deep red. Most speculate that its from a paticularly nasty fight with a Menos, where the blood stained his hair. The bleach never did get out the red at the ends.

On his hands and ankles are metal cuffs from his imprisonment at one time. He lost his temper when a fellow Shinigami killed one of his squad members in a training duel. They had to imprison him for a while, and he wears those cuffs to remember his sin, albeit rightous, should of never happened.

[b]Personality:[/b] Akuma lives up to his name. He's got a short fuse, nasty temper, and a fondness of brutal language. Most of the words that come out of his mouth, however, are at the enemy. He doesn't refrain in any aspect. Sometimes, in his honesty, you'd wish you'd never met him, if you've angered him.

But that's what makes him a great captain. He can make split descisions, be ruthless, and has no pity for the Hollow, no matter who they once were. Akuma's never been good at social conversation, or conversation of any kind, really. An iron wolf, many would call him.

[b][i]Zanpakutoh[/b][/i]

[b]Appearance:[/b] Akuma's Zanpakutoh is bland, really. Just a run of the mill old sword. He loves it that way, because they never see it coming.

[b]Name:[/b] Tetsu-Okami (Iron Wolf)

[b]Shikai Call-Out:[/b] Usuwara, Tetsu-Okami!i! (Grin, Iron Wolf)

[b]Shikai Appearance:[/b] Tetsu-Okami becomes totally different. The Zanpakutoh becomes a metal gauntlet that covers the entire arm, and ends in five, long blades in the finger. It forms over his right arm. On the shoulder, there sits a trophy, in the shape of a Hollow's mask with a cleave in it. Rumor is that Akuma fashioned it himself.

[b]Shikai Power:[/b] Akuma's Tetsu-Okami becomes encircled in a cleansing fire, and the tallon blades become alight with an incantation; "Hi no Shiren!" (Trial By Fire) And the blades will leave scorching burns that ignite into full flames when they strike an enemy.

[b]Bankai:[/b] "Konpaku rippuku!" (Soul Rage). Tetsu-Okami spreads over his chest to his other arm, and several serpentical eyes form along the gauntlets, and the blades become an extra half foot longer, (Bringing them to 2'6) as the edges grow serrated.

[b]Character Snippit:[/b]

[b][i]Run, worm! Run for your pathetic, drained life! Run, maggot, or feel what you've done to countless spirits and flesh![/i][/b] Akuma ran after the oversized, black and grey doglike Hollow. A grin formed on his face. The metal collar, with the two little segments of chain clinked together. Many Hollow realized that this would be the last thing they saw. That, and the fine steel of his Zanpakutoh bearing down.

Zanpakutoh. Hard. Smooth. Thin. Death.

The Hollow jumped back as him, as he turned away. A feint. Akuma held out Tetsu-Okami, one hand on his hip, as the souless maggot wreathed himself upon the blade. A fine ornament. Akuma twisted Tetsu-Okami, then drew it out of the shadowflesh, and brought it down on the creature's boney, demented, clownlike face.

[i]Filithy maggot. Your blood stains my robes...[/i] The Hollow twisted in dying agony, much like a bug caught in pesticide, in the final moments before the chemicals seeped into every pore. That Hollow never hit the ground.

[i][b]What was once a maggot has become food for the maggots.[/i][/b]

Akuma, grim faced and covered in the drying blood of a Hollow, Akuma wiped the blade on the grass, the green mingling with the dieing red. Like that of the sunset as the skyscrapers the jagged, serrated blade, and the low mountains the hilt, the wreathing ball of flame known as the Sun set down behind the metropolotain blade.

Time to return to Soul Society. It was unfortunate. Such a lowly maggot for the Taichio. He wanted more. He heard something snap. A quick, dull, faint sound. He felt his stomach knot up. He grinned. Hollow Bait. Some fool must of thought it was money. At least, this should make it so Akuma could have some fun.

They pooled from a massive crease in the sky. Piles of them landed around him, sensing his incredible spirit energy. Akuma leaned back against a tree, casually.

[b]"Come, worm food. The hole in your chests ain't as large as the emptiness of your brains, I hope."[/b] Akuma drew Tetsu-Okami. [b]"Usuwarai, Tetsu-Okami!"[/b] The blade seemed to melt they wasted no time jumping at him. Akuma seemed to glide from the tree, taking them down without any visible weapon, his hands still at his side.

[b]"You filthy maggots! Do I really have to fight you all night long, or can I convince you to go home to your twisted, sick, Menos mother?"[/b] Akuma glided past a Hollow with several sharp spined talons raking for him, and it fell dead. No one could see his Tetsu-Okami armed hand move. Nor his other one.

He jumped in front of a hollow, with a twisted, demonlike bone face, with yellow eyes, and a gnarled look to spare. He laughed.

[b]"Way of Binding 99!"[/b] The hollow's arms snapped behind its back, restrained. Akuma put his knee on its back. [b]"You sonuvabitch, you ate a child last night. I saw you. You know what?-"[/b] Akuma grabbed it by the bony face, and slammed it into the ground. [b]"You shouldn't of been filled with grief and anguish. You should of called out, "Shinigami, help!" I would of sent you on to Soul Society peacefully. Now I have to kill you to do that."[/b]

Akuma's blade went in the back of its skull. He pulled out his tallon hand as the thing dissolved. A midnight of fighting awaited.

Raiyuu - He does have one, but I won't force you to spoil it for yourself. You can just say, "He has one, but doesn't want to use it." Or something. Because all Captains have them. I think it's a rule, actually, that you can't become a Captain without one.

Kitsune - Just a quick question; have you seen the 1st Captain's Zanpakutoh from the series? Because yours is rather similar to his.

^.^ - Very, very nice sign-up. Also, very cool that you had the Snippit be her death. And you Zanpakutoh Name/Call-Out is very much Orihime-esque.

Deucalion - Quick note: the "Call-Out" is usually a command to the Zanpakutoh itself. Ex. Howl, Zabimaru; Raise your head, Wabisuke; Scatter, Sensakura (I believe), etc.

He enjoys solving puzzles and besting those who attempt to challenge him. He is loyal, yet not to an extreme. His most noticeable feature is his intelligence. His conversation is cluttered with witty comments and suggestive themes. He has a good sense of humor and gets along well with others.

[B]Appearance[/B]: Hihei's original Zanpakutoh is of stereotypical size, however the edge is incredibly solid and sharp. The whole of the blade is a tinted crimson, the handle of a lavished and decorative variety, mostly for show yet it provides sturdy handling, light and easy to use (shown in above picture).
[B]Name[/B]: Aka Doragon (Red Dragon)
[B]Shikai Call-Out[/B]: Akeharau Enkou! (Open Flame!)
[B]Shikai Appearance[/B]: Aka Doragon grows much larger, forming a steep curve on one side of the blade and creating a broad sword of considerable power. The sword's weight increases yet is still crisp and easy to use having been previously trained in the art.
[B]Shikai Power[/B]: Aka Doragon is a fire based sword, housing the power of the great Red Dragon. The blade is capable of manipulating any form of fire, as well as increase it's temperature to unfathomable peaks of heat.
[B]Bankai[/B]: Aka Doragon simply becomes two rather then one. The blade's energy shifts and divides into to seperate weapons, identical to the first. The Twin Dragon technique is a rare one, seldom taught even by the greatest of swordsmen.

There I sat, my attention focused on nothing more then the best of Japanese whiskey before me. As I sipped I could feel someone watching me. It's hard to explain, knowing someone is staring aimlessly in your direction. However I was in no mood to play games of any kind with the fools of this below par establishment. Yet his stares persisted, and eventually he approached me, taking a seat on the stool adjacent to my own.

"Nice sword you got there," he said, his husky voice burdening my inner ear. "Thanks," I mumbled, not even mildly interested in what he had to say. "I'll play you for it," he suggested, smiling as he took a sip of weak wine. "And what if I win?" I asked, merely considering a little excitement on a meek night such as this. The man stood from his seat, unhooked a blade from his belt and placed it upon the bar. The sheath was lackluster but the sword inside was pure gold, a diamond encrested hilt toward the very bottom. "I must warn you though, I'm undefeated," the man chuckled. "So how 'bout it?"

I wasn't really interested in the sword, but a challenge from a man claiming to be undefeated simply couldn't be passed up. The game was of no concern to me, I've found that every game has some sort of loophole, a way to win nearly every time. And as I joined him at a table towards the corner of the bar I couldn't help but smile inside, seeing a modified form of dominos on the table. As we played it was easy to gauge his moves, hah, undefeated, I'd been lied to yet again. However as the game pushed on he took the lead. I began to pay closer attention and it seemed as though he'd hidden pieces within his coat sleeve. He was a mediocre player, but his cheating skills were much more impressive. It was almost impossible to notice his nonchalant slight of hand.

Luckily I was on to his scheme and the game ended in my favor. He was dumbstruck as I rose from the table, my face still expressionless. I would've been more excited if he was actually good, but oh well. "B-But I've never lost before!" he spoke in awe, gripping the sword tightly. "Don't worry, keep the sword. Just don't cheat next time alright?" I said as I turned from the table and made my way towards the bar. I could hear the gasps of fellow bar occupants. Apparently I wasn't the only one who'd played this man. However, I was the first to win, and as numerous men began pushing and shoving him, I couldn't help but smile. Karma is quite the *****.

Gender: Male

Appearance: Setsuko is a youngish-looking man of about average height, skinny build, and is also a bit long-limbed. He has a long, but remarkably cheerful face. His shocking pink hair grows every which-way and sticks out at odd angles, so in an attempt to exert some control over it he wears it short. The spiky bangs hang down over his high brow, but don?t hang in front of his eyes. His gray eyes are very expressive and actually change color with his mood; they turn a lighter shade when he?s in good spirits, but darken when in the grip of negative emotions. His nose is straight and narrow. He has full lips that are usually pulled back in a wide smile, revealing straight white teeth. He wears the usual Shinigami robes and wears his Zanpakutoh on his left hip.

Zanpakutoh -
Appearance: Saya is lacquered blue with a yellow lightning design running the whole length. The tsuba is an ordinary oval. The blade is a non-reflective black, the hilt is wrapped with blue cloth, and a bright yellow tassel hangs off of the end of the hilt.

Name: Denkou Yaiba (Lightning Blade)

Shikai Call-Out: Sutoraiku (Strike)

Shikai Appearance: Denkou Yaiba becomes a double-edged broadsword with serrated edges. The blade is silver in color, the crossguard is a rod (also silvery), the hilt is wrapped with black leather, and the tassel is gone. The blade is usually surrounded by electrical energy.

Shikai Power: The blade carries an electric current, and can also fire electric discharges at targets.

Bankai: Yeah, riiiiight.

Personality: Setsuko is fiercely loyal to his squad, desperate to rise, and performs all his tasks with boundless energy and enthusiasm. That plus his hair have earned him the nickname ?Energizer Bunny.? He does find his captain?s habit of chasing women as though they were going out of style a bit disturbing, however he likes women as much as the next straight man. Anyone saying otherwise gets beaten senseless.

Character Snippit: Sato Setsuko was cornered. He faced a giant praying mantis Hollow, which had followed him down an alleyway. The plan had been to lead it into an ambush, with him as bait, however he had taken a wrong turn and ended up facing a brick wall. [I]This won?t be easy[/I], Setsuko thought.

But you?re not alone.?

He drew Denkou Yaiba, but held his ground, waiting for the Hollow to make the first move. He didn?t have to wait long.

The Hollow charged straight at him, intending to subdue him before he could put up a fight. Setsuko spun the sword arround, making the tassel dance. There was a function for even this decoration. Since human eyes (and thus Hollow eyes) are attracted to movement and bright colors, it served as a distraction, even if a momentary one.

The mantis swung one foreleg at Setsuko, who just managed to deflect the blow, then swung right at its skull-like mask. The Hollow blocked with its other foreleg, and pushed back. Setsuko scuttled back, leaving the Hollow temporarily off-balance. ?Sutoraiku!? shouted Setsuko, and launched a concentrated blast of electricity at the Hollow.

The Hollow leaped over Setsuko?s head, and before he could turn around, struck downward with both forelegs. He just barely blocked with his sword, right hand on the hilt, the left supporting the other side of the sword on the flat. Electricity sparked off the hard chitin exoskeleton of the mantis Hollow. It laughed wickedly, a sound unpleasantly like a sword being sharpened.

?You can?t stop [I]me[/I] from feeding on your soul!? it shouted triumphantly. The Hollow slowly forced Setsuko into a crouch, and also caused the serration of the sword to cut into his hand. ?You don?t have the strength to hold me off you, let alone cut me,? it gloated.

?I don?t need to!? Setsuko shot back as a thin stream of blood trickled down his arm. He let his left hand drop, spun around, and used the momentum of the spin and the mantis?s own strength to stab the blade deep into its thorax, sending electricity flowing throughout its body. After a few screams, the mantis collapsed, smoking. But it didn't dissapate, it didn't even lose consciousness. Setsuko stood over the mantis Hollowfor a long moment , just staring into its livid eyes, maddened with rage.

?Driven by hate,
Consumed by fear.?

In that split second, he pitied the monster. Then he drew the sword back and leveled it right between the monster?s eyes.

?Let the bodies hit the floor.?

After the body disintigrated and the purified soul left for Soul Society, Setsuko dropped to his knees, utterly spent. His comrades found him just before he passed out, and he told them, ?One more Hollow purified.?
