Dragonboym2
"It's...." Monty Python's Flying Circus. The British sketch comedy show that....did silly things. From lumberjacks, silly songs, dead parrots, and other random silliness, it was one the best shows I've seen out of the UK. And the movies are just as funny. You know, "Monty Python and the Holy Grail", "Monty's Python's The Life Of Brian", etc. What are your favorite Monty Python bits? What songs do you like? "And now, for somthing completely different." Lord Dante
Monty python is truly masterful, i'll agree. My favorite bit would probably have to be "self defence class" from "and now for something completely different". John cleese plays the teacher of a self defence class, teaching people how to defend against assailants armed with "fresh fruit" - a true calssic sketch. Of course, you also have "the joke that kills you", the "dead parrot sketch", "mr creosote", "upper class twit of the year", and of course, the legendary "knights who say.... NI!!" monty python rules "and now for something completely different"
r2vq
Ah, I loved the "And Now for Something Completely Different" line... I really enjoyed Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. I think it was one of their best collections ever. I didn't really enjoy The Life of Brian though, except for the songs... ^^ Those were always dandy. The best joke, though, must've been in Monty Python and the Holy Grail's beginning when they talk about Swallows. XD Are you suggesting coconuts migrate? XD -ArV
gaarasgirl90
AAhhh, Monty Python, the work of genius. I must say you did mention all the best skits thats for sure. I happen to be a big fan of John Cleese too, so I get all excited when he's in Harry Potter or Shrek 2. Or when Terry Gilliam directs a new movie, like the Brothers Grimm. ANYWAY did anyone mention the beast of Ciarbaner(spelling?) or Tim the Enchanter? The shrubbery? How about from the flying circus. NOOOOBODY EXPECTS A SPANISH INQUISITION!!! Or the 'buying a matress' skit. what about "spam spam spam spam spam spam spam spam SPAMITY SPAAAAM SPAMITY SPAAAAM!" THE GUMBY'S! gotta love the gumby's. Now lets move on to what to do if someone attacks you, with a BANANA(*singing* b-a-n-a-n-a-s...)
Azure Rose
Oh god, the spam song, that was definitely one of my favorite sketches ever! "Eggs and spam, baked beans, eggs and spam, spam and spam..." "I DON'T LIKE SPAM!" hehehehe. But the Spanish Inquisition is the best ever. "NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!" ahh, it never gets old. Seriously though, Monty Python, whether it's the show or the movies, is so much fun, and just so damn...silly. To me, there is nothing better than flipping through channels and landing on a marathon of Flying Circus on BBC America. It never fails to make my day. ...I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay, I sleep all night and I work all day... ^_~

TheShinje
Yeah, I remember the ministry of funny walks skit,t hat was good. I got into Monty Python, hwen one of my teachers at school lent me some vids, we were supposed to watch htem in class on one of those lazy after-exam days that doesn't count, but the class kicked up a stink because it was old and we ended up watching wallace and vomit. ergh. Monty Python was a heck of a lot funnier than that, that's why I borrowed the vids and got into their show. Godo stuff.

Gavin
Interesting, most interesting. I have to admit that I only ever found Monty Python and the Holy Grail truly funny, the others only ever invoked a kind of raised eyebrow in confusion and a kind of short chuckle at bits I actually found humorous. I haven't seen The Flying Circus in a long, long time so I can't really give any definitive rating as to whether or not I found it funny. Now that I think about it however I do recall seeing one involving cats, dustbins and a police officer that I found very funny, so if that's it I guess I did enjoy it. Lindus
I adore Monty Python. I actually got to go to a midnight showing of The Meaning of Life, which I loved! It was so funny. I haven't been able to see much of the show, but what I did see was great stuff XD I can't understand why some people don't like the humor of it. I was talking with a classmate once, and she told me that her family watched about 10 minutes of The Holy Grail before turning it off. But, I guess it's like why some people don't like Seinfeld (another fantastic show)

Lafleur
I just finished watching The Meaning Of Life not hours ago, probably the funniest thing I've seen since The Holy Grail! I loved Flying Circus, especially the one they did about the Queens Own First Kamikaze Highlanders, or the Dead Parrot one. The Holy Grail is still the best by far! Envy-sama
I LOVE Monty Python!!! The movies and the TV show was awesome and always made me crack up. God bless those memorable quotes!! "NOOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!!" "Death will come to you, with nasty, big, pointy teeth!!" "And now for something completely different." God bless European humor. It's good for everyone. Kuroshin13
I love the Monty Python stuff. I'm more apt to knowing the Holy Grail though. I first watched it in a social studies class, and no one else understood any of the humor! I was like "How do you NOT get it?" I love watching the lego version of "Knights Of the Roudd table" The Shrubberry, scene 24, Tim, and the bunny! Who doesn't love the knights who say Ni? "First you must find...another shrubbery!!!" A few lines later. "Then you must cut down the mytiest tree in the forest, wiith...a HERRING!!!" :D I found the random gorilla hand quite amusing also. Muse
"I cut down trees, I wear high heels, suspenders and a bra. I wish I'd been a girlie, just like my dear Papa!" Yes, I admit it... I'm a Monty Python fangirl. I was nitpicking as I read everyone's posts and correcting them XD Sorry. My favorite movie is the Meaning of Life, closely followed by Life of Brian. I watch the shows constantly on a daily basis... and... I'm obsessed. Yus. "Lemon curry?"
Lord Dante
"She's a witch!! burn her!!!" "how do you know she is a witch?" "she looks like one!!" "are you a witch?" "no I'm not, I am not a witch!" "But you are dressed as one?" "they dressed me up like this!" "did you dress her up like this?" *mumbles of No, no, no, no* "no-yes, yes, a bit. she has got a wart!!" "there are ways of telling wether she is a witch" "like what?" "tell me, what do you do with witches?" "BURN THEM!!!" "good. now, why do witches burn?" "uhh... umm.... ahh..." "tell me, what do you burn, instead of witches?" "MORE WITCHES!!" "shut up...." "wood!!" "good!!! now tell me, why do witches burn?" "uhh... because.... becasue they're made of... wood?" "good!" "now, how do we tell if she is a witch?" "build a bridge out of her!" "ah, but can you not also build bridges out of stone?" "oh yah..." "tell me, does wood sink in water?" "no.. no, it floats. it floats!! throw her into the pond!!" "what else floats in water?" "uhh... bread!" "cider!!" "very small rocks!" "lead! lead!" "....A DUCK!!" "exactly!! so..." "so.. if she ways the same as a duck.... she's made of wood!!!!!" "and therfore?" "a witch!!!!!!" sorry, but I find this skit to be hilariously funny. XD it has so many memorable sketches, like the Retaurant Sketch, The Atilla the Hun Show, The Spanish Inquisition... *Sighs.* I'm only sixteen, but my dad was a big Python fan, so I picked up on it along with other British comedies.
