Otaku America
Will Anime die with our generation? Looking back at my parents generation I see all the old pointless comedies that were popular at the time and are now forgotten. Will some of the Animes we love now be forgotten in the next few generations. I remember my father talking about the andy griffen show and how it was so popular back then. In the future will our generation of Anime be forgotten. Now some of the real popular old shows are still on the TV land channel, but those are the real popular ones, what will happen to the unpopular Anime, heck what will happen to the popular Anime. Some of these shows are too good to be forgotten. POST OR REPLY BY -Wes- OF THE SSF.
I have to reply to this dumb question. Anime is growing larger and larger everyday. Why would anime die in our generation? That's like saying, will movies die in our generation?

Guest Erriku
If anime would be on more than G4 and adult swim, america would be renamed to animerica... Thats also like saying will cartoons and animated movies die... this the century of the TECH... sriously we are now using what weve found out and building more advanced technology.
gwynva
I think to ask whether animes will die is basically the same as asking whether cinema will die in general. Making animes is simply another way to express one's views/dreams without the physics rules :) It gives you a world that you can basically do anything and everything and who on earth would want to give up such a freedom no matter how many years pass??!! Of course the series that are created will change/evolve, some will die, some will become classics...However, it is only natural to expect it to survive no matter what, seeing the way it affects children. Mom definitely loves the stories of Miyazaki, but miyazaki is not the only guy who makes really good stuff, there are others out there waiting to be realized by the rest of the world. People can only become interested of something only if they are aware; for which i think we fans are responsible up to a point. Most of my friends like inuyasha now (thanks to me :animesmil ) and what is more i do not have to ask them to watch now as they come to me asking what is new, what to watch etc.
Tatsubei Yagyu
Well, I know that it will still alive with all the friends I have's children, because we said that we were going to pass it down to them. But I agree with everyone pretty much, in that it is growing more and more, just like movies and TV shows, and they won't let it die as long as there is still money involved. And to prove it, they even make half-***ed anime games just like they do with movies. :animeswea I think I've made my point. :D
Filipinorocker1
I dont think anime will die with our generation. Anime has been around for awhile now and well sure some animes will be forgotten and in the future there maybe new anime to take its place or maybe anime might die im not sure i know anime will be here for along time and if it does start to die there will be a lot of people to who will fight to get it back. There is too many people that like anime for anime to just leave. It will be a sad day when anime will die. There not just cartoons they have deeper meaning then that. EVA Unit 100
I doubt that anime will 'die with our generation', even if certain shows do, the style will still live on. Just like any programme (even friends!), it will eventually come to an end. And some classics will not be treasured by future generations as they once were, only simply due to them being old, and out of date. But there will be new 'classics' to fill the old's shoes, and even more enginious shows will come, leaving all us "oldens" to quiver in our boots; so to speak.
Um, are you aware that the definition of a "classic" is something that is treasured by future generations? Anyway, I see anime lasting as long as people still have stories to tell and haven't come up with a more effective method of telling them that completely blows anime out of water. However, I hope the anime industry is shooken up more in the near future. I want the anime "factory" system used byu studios such as Toei done away with and to have more independent-style producers similar to Makoto Shinkai, Madhouse, and the type of stuff GANAIX did before their productions started oversaturating and becoming increasingly generic. Though the American animation industry needs that sort of stuff seriously more than Japan does.
Ikillion
In my eyes anime hopefully will last as long as it is able to last. I mean look at how many different anime shows there are. How many different sites that are devoted to anime itself! I can see it almost as a plague but in a good way. It will continue winding its way through the population, until it has entirely taken over. This is the way anime is living, this is how it will continue to live as it makes its way into the dreams of tommorow.
kagomefruitcup
Anime will die in many ways and live on in many ways. It's like music, classical music evolved, and continued evolving into what we have today (rap). anime will evolve intosomething we most likely don't expect, but it will be anime all the same. ;)
I agree wit this dude. anime will live long just different kinds of stuff, but still it's a wonder will our favorite shows still be remembered? Who knows :animesigh

MommySkullFish
I know personally I am already getting my son into it, and he's 5. I think a lot of us will do that with our children, and therefore it will not die. I only see it getting bigger and becoming too mainstream. That's my major concern. nika2999
There's a possibility, even though anime is breaking on to the scene all the way it doesn't have a large audience like regular cartoons. You really can't tell because more and more people are discovering it. To me it's hard to say, it's just like manga it's being introduced to the u.s.a. all the way and it's future in america can't be determined. I really hope it does stick around though. Guest Warmaster
We might see a shift from traditional "drawn" animation to 3-d CG models being much more prominent. In a few years, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will be much less expensive to duplicate, not to mention quicker. So, you might see a lot more 3D stuff and a lot less "drawings." Which is a shame, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least.
HitokiriTaijiya
It won't die. No TV genre completely dies. It'll just change with the times. Probably in 20 or so years, you won't hear mention of Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, Yugiou, etc. There will be new animes in their place. They may be better. They may be worse, but people will watch them and enjoy them. In the meantime, we old fuddy duddies can download our favorites or collect them on whatever digital media is available by then. Riku
I really hope that it doesn't, but with this generation, I don't think it's going to stop in a long while. Has anyone seen how much anime and manga products have been sold to our generation?? I don't know exactly, but I'm sure that it's a huge percentage. And look at all the new things that's been coming out: shirts, other apparal, games, movies, manga, etc. I say that it might die later on, but I'm sure that there will be a lot of people who'll hold on to them and still make anime last forever. I know me and my kids will. :animesigh :animesmil :catgirl:
Zenriek
Well.... I suppose some animes/mangas will die out, even though we'll still remember them. But... the style won't die. It's getting more and more popular. More and more of America (and other countries) is getting into it. It's changing, it'll never really die out, as long as we keep it going. Hey, if we tell our kids about some of our old favorite shows, show them to them, at least they'll know what we though (think) were/are great shows.
