Well, in leu of the tradgedy that occured in the busy hours of this morning on London's public transport system I think that we should focus on something a little bit more uplifting while we try to sort things out.

Just the day before the bombings it was announced that London and not Paris (nyaa :smirk:) will be hosting the 2012 Olympics. About time in my opinion, its been too long. I reckon it will give us a chance to shine and show the world what we're made of when it comes to sporting excellence.

What do you think of the decision. Please note that if you are French you're opinion doesn't count (nah I'm joking, well played to you guys...just not so well played by Monsieur Chirac :animeangr)

Do you think London is a good place to hold the olympics? Do you think it really matters. Please, our lines are open, feel free to drop in a comment or two ^_~.

Yell i'm just glad that the French did not get to host the 2012 olympics. I am glad London did because they haven't hosted it for a while. Althought i am from America but i don't really care for NY either so good luck London hope you have a great Olympics.

Allow me to deliver the following message to the french:

NYAH-NYAH NA NYAH-NYAH!!!! :smirk:

Anyway, gloating aside.

what's the betting that in 61/2 years, we hear reports that "such-and-such a venue isn't ready yet" all over the news

(apologies for bad post quality, but i can't think of a coherent way to say this)

Good idea, doukeshi. ^_^

I was so relieved to hear that France didn't get it; I was hoping it was either London or Madrid. Which is ironic in itsself because I live extremely close to NYC. In my opinion, we were incredibly stupid, and we had a half-*** baked plan. We didn't deserve to get it, so I'm glad we didn't. ^^

No matter how much I try to tell myself that I like France, inevitably, they end up doing something to annoy the heck out of me (Not even Chirac himself, just... France). And then people say "OMG UR A LOSER, WHY ARE U SO MEAN N WHY DO U HATE FRANCE!!!" I just can't win! ;_; But no, I don't like them as a whole (I've met extremely nice individuals), so even though they may have had a well organized plan, I'm glad they didn't get it.

*grins* I already really reeeeeeally want to go to Beijing, and now the 2012 olympics in London give me a reason to go there. Eeeee!

Is London a good place to hold it? Well, it must be decent, because that's the place everyone picked. *laughs* I've always seen London as a city with tons and tons of buildings, and people, and not to mention some really great tourist spots, i.e. old places like the Tower of London and Windsor Castle, etc, etc. So I could never see where a top of the line incredibly modern stadium would fit in with all that. However, I do realize that there are probably extremely modern sections of London, very urban and upcoming; and I'm sure the stadiums will be done very nicely. ^_^'

I heart London! And now I have a reason to go!!! =P

If I go to the Olympics(who knows 7 years from now) I'll be kind of bummed that it's in London. I mean, it's nice to have it in an english speaking country, but I've never really wanted to go there. Paris or Madrid would be an adventure, but London would feel like being consumed by familiar people. British slang has to be the weirdest thing I've ever heard, and I've heard excited Japanese.
