Let us rain some DOOM down upon the DOOMED heads of our DOOMED enemies!

God how could such a great show be canceled? it was INGENIUS! I loved that show, I loved it good. How can you not love Zim or Gir? They were awesome. The music was good too and the stories have me laughing so hard I can't catch a breath. But alas my Tallest, I am stuck here with only three measley seasons of the show. Thank god there are still fans at Hottopic, otherwise there would be no Zim supplies for me!

SCREAMING TEMPORAL DOOM!!!

Any comments?

Invader Zim is a great show. ^^
Though, I prefer the creator's comic books, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and Squee.
Actually there's already a forum on Zim in the "Music, Movies & TV" section of OB. I think you'd be surprised how many people are into the same things you are. I was at least. ^^

On a side note, I can't wait for the Anime/Scifi/ComicBook/Horror/VideoGame convention this August. ^^ I'm going to get (Zim creator) Jhonen Vasquez's autograph. ^^

finaly another invader zim fan. my friends say this is not an anime but they are wrong i saw it on tv in japan. Gir or Gur, was the coolest dumb robot ever. And the funniest part was Dib and Gaz, dib was eccentris and gaz was detached from the world into video games, like me except anime and video games for me.

Z:Human Slaves will be ruled by me ZIM

Bitters: Zim sit down or you will be sent to the happy farm where u will be labonimized.

The Simpsons are on TV in Japan too. Does that make them an Anime?

Invader Zim was made by a Western Comic Book artist, Jhonen Vasquez. The Series was produced by Nickelodeon, an American company.

Anime Mid-atlantic is a small convention located in richmond, va we rarely have more than 700 attenders.

That's like declaring Lord of the Rings as a Science Fiction. I can declare it. I can organize a group of people do declare it. I can create a Science Fiction convention to declare it and it still wont be Science Fiction. Just as Lord of the Rings doesn't fit into the Science Fiction category, Invader Zim doesn't fit into the Anime definition. It seems to me that they were just trying to attract a bigger crowed by getting Zim fans.
Isn't the word "anime" just the Japanese word for "animated"? Or does "anime" refer to the classic "Japanime" style?
In its original context "Anime" アニメ means animated. Therefore, all things animated are Anime. This includes Simpsons, Beauty and the Beast, and Bugs Bunny. Yes, Invader Zim would be classified as Anime under this definition.

But, if the Anime convention that Akari_Demon was talking about was a convention for this type of Anime, they wouldn't have to outwordly proclaim that Invader Zim was Anime. It would already be obvious.

Since they had to actually classify something as Anime, their definition of Anime is not as open as the original meaning and actually is limited to specific works.

So, like you said, in this case it can not be Anime and the convention was BS'ing it's way through.

I personally can't stand Zim. And before you yell at me, I did actually give it chance. I watched the majority of the show, seeing some episodes more than once. I've also read johnny the homicidal maniac. It's interesting, I'll give it that. But the whole series justs started to blur together for me after a while...and I think I can understand why Nick would take it off the air. A lot of pre-teens seem to drool over it, as well as slightly older kids.

But, there's even younger audiences that could see it, and with them, parents who might feel uncomfortable with their children watching a show like Zim. I dunno, guess that's how I've always felt about it. Though I gotta admit, when the show *first* premiered on nick, I loved it.

The first thing i really got into from jhonen vasquez was his comics then i found out he created invader zim also and decided to give it a second chance. I decided against getting the last two seasons for the time being but it would be something very very cool to have. I think that Jthm is so much cooler, mostly because he's a complete and total jerk. For those of you who haven't checked out jthm squee of i feel sick, i suggest you do so, you'll love it.

I never saw it on TV, but I've watched a few episodes on DVD. I thought it was pretty funny, but I can see why some people wouldn't like it. I think you have to be in sort of an open, goofy mood to enjoy the show. Otherwise, it gets tiresome quickly.
It is Officialy reconignzed by Anime Mid-Atlantic as an anime.
Yes, but that doesn't make it an anime. Invader Zim is a western cartoon show. If it was originally from Japan, then dubbed and brought over to America, then it would be an anime.

Edit:
invader zim was cancelled by nickelodeon after the whole 9-11 thing.
i guess a show about a maniacal alien trying to take over the world freaked some people out.
its a shame though because jhonen vasquez is tha shiznite.
No, that wasn't the real reason it was cancelled. The show, although very popular, was extremely expensive due to the fact that they used CG. On top of that, the show was viewed as not-as-popular as the other Nickelodeon shows.

It was an excellent show while it lasted, and it will always remain my favorite.

She was planned for at least one later episode, where each invader went through a trial to deem whether they are worthy of their job or not.

Good grief, that was an awesome show. Invader Zim is probably the only American animation that I would seriously watch (minus Family Guy and Futurama) and I can't believe it got canceled. I wonder why it did get canceled anyway... O_o

EDIT: I stand corrected; perhaps it was, indeed, originally a Japanese animation.

I'm not sure if somebody in this thread already mentioned this, but lots of sources tell me that Invader Zim was inspired by that anime we all (most of us) know and love: FLCL / Fooly Cooly. Or maybe it was the other way around... but yes, I'm pretty sure that IZ was inspired by FLCL.

I find it quite exciting that my favorite American cartoon was bred from one of my favorite anime. ^_^' I've no idea why such a show would be canceled, I mean nothing that I can remember was that offensive, even for the children's channel Nickelodeon... but maybe I could find DVD's of it somewhere.

Invader Zim is wonderful. I like Tak's cat-bot thing. Its got everything Gur lacks, except for super-stoopidness. Huzzah for Zim! I like the zit episode. With the bacon soap...yeah...bacon soap...That would taste awesome and be a semi-hygenic pork-product. Another good one is when he goes to Hobo 13 and sacrafices all of the people in his squad so he can win. Invader Zim has made me a smarter man-beast. :stupid: Huzzah!!
